Interesting that your display ratings were a lot better than the Slim 5 that I tested from Best Buy. Only 69% SRGB and 324 nits on my unit. Thanks for the review ben!
I was crazy and couldn’t decide so I bought both the slim 5 and slim 7i and used them for several days. The slim 5 didn’t do as well on the cinebench but everything else was the same even battery life. In fact, the plastic chassis kept it cooler to the touch than the slim 7i. It actually pissed me off how similar performance was in every area. Biggest downside is it is thicker than the slim 7i.
I got one . I upgrade the memory to 32 gigs . Even with that, it is still under a 1,000 . I'm not a gamer but did go online and played so games . I got to edit videos. I encoded a movie hour and a half long, and It took only seven minutes. I use External speakers. What I do like about that is it will play sound with External USB speakers.and Bluetooth speaker at the same time and with one of the sound programs that come with it . Let you ajust the sound as surround sound.
I bought this laptop from Best Buy about a week ago. I'm very pleased with it so far. The RTX 4060 in mine is a nice upgrade from the GTX 1650 laptop I was using previously(I got a little over 3 years out of that laptop) My unit was only 899 cause it was $450 off. :)

Thanks for the explanation. I've been searching for a new laptop for school work and gaming, and I wanted to get something that I would like like using or would be easier to carry around. All in all, I love the look of the Slim 5/5i and what it has to offer, and especially knowing how it can be upgraded really helps.
Got the slim 7i recently. Great laptop, cool to see the 5i is just as great and even has some extra features. When it comes to ram vs storage upgrades. I would rather have a storage upgrade. As 32gbs of ram is enough for me.
Amazing compared to the slim 7i. Tested them both. The slim 5 was much quieter and cool to the touch. The slim 7i got pretty warm because of the metal.
Do you think the slim 7 with a 7840hs will have a really much better battery life than the slim 7i? Here in Europe the amd version isn't out yet and i can't really wait that long i need it for work. Thanks!
I bought the slim 7i with 13700H and slim 5 7840HS with the same RTX 4060. The slim 7i has a 99w battery and the slim 5 has an 80w. They performed the exact same in terms of battery life. Meaning I would expect the slim 7 to have around 25% better battery
How does this Legion Slim 5i 13700h compare to the Macbook Pro 14 M1 Pro interms of Lightroom Classic import/export ?? Is it as snappy as the Macbook in editing photos, scrolling from photo to photo, putting presets ??
Legion 5 pro is slightly better because cpu and gpu can pull more power thus more performance at the cost of battery life, if you value performance go for it otherwise go for the slim version
Right. Just checked his past video "RTX 3070 Ti BETTER than RTX 3060? // Legion 5 Pro" and the 3060 got the exact same 17:21:00 result for Premiere 6k export as this new slim 5 lol
been using it for a week, 4050 i5 3th gen. it fit well to my current work. the speaker is a little weaker compared to my lenovo yogax1 carbon gen 3. everything else superb. it has the slim 170w charger not too heavy. i think its the slimmest gaming laptop in this price category. was thinking to get the slim 7i but i won't be able to maximize it coz most of the time im using it for work and sometimes i have 3 extended monitors.
The legion brand is great, but what is the difference in over time performance between the normal legions and the slim legions, like over time do you see deteriorating performance and back life
The webcam was so bad, it turned your grey shirt to bright red! 😮

I got this as an Open Box Sale at Best Buy on top of the discount sale, one of the best purchases I've made so far for college.
Price?
I bought my first Legion 5 RTX 3060 yesterday after watching your videos. I am really satisfied with it. Thanks. You’ve got a new sub here.
is there any difference between 3060 & 4060..Also what about 4050 & 4060?

Actually, they have 2 option about the display.
1 is Full HD IPS 144Hz 69%sRGB
2 is The 2K 165Hz panel with 100% sRGB

@@ryanchiew4353 sent it back. And glad I did. The Slim 7i just has a much more premium feel. Performance is about the same but I love how it feels.

great review :)
Great review! I’m gonna buy a refurbished one right now 😁

It's wierd you cant upgrade both ram slots on the slim 7. I have a msi laptop that is even thinner and both ram slots can be upgraded
ive been asking jarrod to review it buthe didnt, thanks for doing this

intel 5 13500h or ryzen 7840hs on slim 5?

It's actually out of stock in many regions
Can you find any sources in Canada which comes under 1500 CAD
Walmart online on sale. I got mine for 1100 but that was an insane deal
Do you know if it can be safely upgraded to 64 G RAM ?
Not sure. Many shops recommend max 32GB
What is the aspect ratio?
Now they are 450 dollars off . 899.00 . 949 after taxes.
Does it have rgb keyboard?
Should you spend a little more on the 14" OLED slim5?
thanks for your review, but could you compare it side by side with slim 7i please

Can we ugrade ram 64 GB?
Yo Ben, didnt you post a video about this before? Then I didnt find it anymore.
Like are the usb-c thunderbolt 4? Or does that not work with and cpu?
Legion slim 7 has USB 4 which is equivalent. Legion slim 5 doesn't have that.
@@mutant69probably because amd boards can’t be thunderbolt certified
need help picking between this and g14(2023) model
Do you ever notice that lenovo laptops have a whistle from the fan when running on low RPM?
No. I have three Lenovo laptops: Legion 7i pro (non-slim), ThinkPad 14” X1 Carbon gen 10 and a 13” X1 Nano gen 1.
None of their fans whistle.
@little_fluffy_clouds interesting. I wonder of some people hear some frequencies more pronounced than others. My x1e gen2 ddnt have a whistle btw.

❤ “Why you gotta be so rude Don’t you know I’m human too” ❤
Great review! 🙌 But is it worth $360 more (in my country) than the 2022 legion 5/5i pro?
The pro has a cpu with increased power draw so it runs hotter and worse battery life. Depens if you need max performance or value quieter noise
Legion 5 pro is slightly better because cpu and gpu can pull more power thus more performance at the cost of battery life, if you value performance go for it otherwise go for the slim version

why in Indonesia, this laptop costs like a premium laptop,?around 1400 dollars
The legion brand is great, but what is the difference in over time performance between the normal legions and the slim legions, like over time do you see deteriorating performance and back life
What I understand is that “slim” is just a marketing strategy. It’s basically legion from 2022, but this year they added “slim” to it.
Ignore the rude comments
yoi are doing great ben just leave thise hate commenters
$1200 is not a budget gaming laptop
For gaming, it definitely is.
Got it for $999 today, for a 7840HS and RTX 4060, that is definitely a budget price tag.

This Legion Slim 5 with ryzen 7 7840hs and rtx 4060 (16APH8)
Or
Hp Omen with ryzen 7 7840hs and rtx 4060 (16-xd0020AX)
Which one is better?
I know the screen for slim 5 is better, I would like to know which of two has better sound quality though and loudness...
@aimy5637 I think the sound quality of Omen is better because I saw Legion Slim's sound test, and it didn't perform that well..

so i have 2 options 👇🏻
1) Buy Dell G16 (RTX4060) tomorrow
_OR_
2) Buy HP Omen 16 (RTX 4070) @ end of September 2023
any suggestion guys?
Omen 16
Would much rather have an extra ram upgrade slot. If you need more storage you can always buy a 4tb ssd.
