As a student I will say that you don't need a big screen on the go. Getting any 14 inch option and docking it when home is probably best. Touchscreens are also a must in collage, if you have the money for it the ideal setup is some sort of 2 in 1 paired with an egpu or a mini PC for home use. You may even get good milage out of the igpu if you turn down the settings. So I have a question. I was going to buy this laptop. There was even an open box at best for $1500 and that came with a 2 year protection plan that I chose. Heya, is MiniLED Legion 7/9 with AMD CPU available? My experience with Legion5 intel is just a bit of unnecessary power and I'm not trying to gamble with 14th Gen intel.
How does the Legion 7i compare to the Zepyrus G16 with AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 Processor? I am planing on buying one of these; both are similarly priced at 4070. Here Intel Ultra 9 is only available in the 4080 version of the laptop.

Love my Aorus 17H with RTX 4080 and 360Hz screen. Bought it in March 2023 on sale for only $1400. Can't beat that deal, especially right on the month of release
You missed the point of the video, which is comparing two laptops at the same price point and similar in portability. No doubt Gigabyte makes good machines, but yours is a brick compared to the two in this video.
This may be a silly question, but for the USB-C ports, you're mentioning that "only one of the ports" has this support or that support - how do you know which one? Is it labeled somewhere/somehow, or do you just have to experiment? I have a Legion 5 Slim and I'm wondering if the two ports have different capabilities and how I'm supposed to find out. One is unmarked, one is labeled USB-PD, but no indications that I see about DisplayPort functionality.
Try to find the info on legion's own website, find a detailed video by this channel or another one about your laptop or simply try for yourself. Go for whichever is fastest first
I have a quick question in regards to the Lenovo legion. Ive been looking into the maximum ram for it and the answers have been less than clear on weather it can handle crucials 96 gig ram kit. Lenovos spec sheet says 32 gigs which just doesn't make sense but the CPU max is 192 which implies the 2x48 works. I guess what im asking is if its safe to upgrade it to the 96 or if i should stick to 64?
i would choose g16 just because of the screen and build quality even if the performance is better in legion (asus is hotter but it’s built that way that it’s not important at all how hot it is)
Hi Jarod, what battery bank would you recommend for gaming laptops, particularly ones that are higher end? Not for gaming on them but just browsing and watching videos. Thanks
That looks like the price when it was brand new. Unless you really like that model and the previous owner never used it it is probably not a good deal.
A great video! I would appreciate a comparison between G16 and Lenovo Yoga Pro 9i, as it is a better match for G16 because it also has a Core Ultra processor, an RTX 4070 option, and better speakers.
I have a quick question as I dont know much about the pc world. If I buy the legion, and connect it to a 240hz monitor, i will still be able to use 240hz even though the laptop is 165hz right?
also it will be my first big buy interms of pc/gaming laptop, so which one is a better option. as preparation i have already bought a keyboard (wooting 60he) high end mouse (sperlight 2) and am ordering a mousepad (hien)
It seems to be really good but way more expensive. The raw performance is still less than the hx chip if nanoreview is to be believed, so the legion will still have the better performance.

Heavily leaning towards the G16 AMD 4070. However, the soldered RAM is bothersome. The ASUS ProArt Studiobook Pro 16 is similar in performance but allows upgradeable RAM.
Good vid. But I think the Aero 16 needs to be in this mix. I moved from a G16 to an Aero 16 and never looked back. Aero has a better keyboard, upgradeable RAM, better build quality / feel, better cooling and heaps better value. The only areas the G16 wins are the speakers (they're excellent, and only average in the Aero) and the screen refresh rate (Aero is 4K, but only 60hz).

(for some clearance i love gaming with my laptop but watching movies with loved ones and friends is also a huge part of the purchase i have been using a thinkpad and looking for an upgrade. im really stoked about the oled screen and speakers of the G16 but the white look for the legion and the upgradeability so witch one should i buy?)
(by the way my name is glacier in another language so that would be cool to own)
Both laptops are available in white and dark, white costs more though, not sure if it varies by region. But that's personal preference, I've got nothing else to add than what's in this video really. Of course movies will be better with the G16 for the reasons you say though.
Could you compare the G16 to the Yoga Pro 9i 16" ? Similar specs, in particular the same CPU. Also comparison between Oled of G16 and Mini-Led of Yoga would be interesting.
9:35 in my m15 zephyrus fn+f5 does that. Have you tried that?
Just ordered the G16 laptop. I needed portability and efficiency. I mainly use Geforce Now for gaming so that OLED panel is going to be amazing with an RTX 4080 desktop.
Great review, however at least in the US the third fan is replaced on the g16 with the 4080/4090 with Liquid Metal for better performance and runs cooler and quieter.
Jarrod is it risky to go for the asus because of the OLED screen? In the long term i mean
How do the resolutions compare? I'm coming from an M1 MacBook Air and I'm worried about the 1600p screen being a bit too pixelated for me.
you won't notice a difference
I love how the Zephyrus has an OLED screen however no Numpad is a deal-breaker for me.
why the hell would you need a numpad in big 2024 🤣 they're literally useless
@@dashixll As a network engineer, I spend a few hours each day typing IP addresses. For anyone who frequently works with numbers, a number pad is extremely helpful.

you can just shift + any number you want, numpads are a total waste of space
Interesting. The presence of a numpad is a dealbreaker for me. It forces the rest of the keyboard off center and often, as a result, the trackpad
How would you rate the Legion 7i vs the Asus Zyprhrus G16 or Asus Proart P16 with the new AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX370 in terms of performance.
would you still choose the legion 7i even if compared to the Ryzen version of the G16? im deciding between these two options
Where I live there is Legion 7 without the "i" after 7. Whats the difference? Because as much as the specs goes its literally all the same as stated in video.
amd
i is intel
So I have a question. I was going to buy this laptop. There was even an open box at best for $1500 and that came with a 2 year protection plan that I chose. The only thing that killed the sale for me was that light bar on the outside of the screen. Dirt catches inside and then the light bar will be dim. Only thing that killed the sale for me. What would you recommend? I just want the oled.
What do you expect for the next year's model? I hope it gets Thunderbolt 5 and a touchscreen.

FYI It's also pretty irritating if you want immersion.
In my LOQ I used a punching machine and black tape to put a circle on the center for, but it's probably going to be more tricky for the circle, as it would also interfere with fingerprint scanner
Can't wait to see the review for the G16 with AMD. If there will ever be one.
AI edition yes but they probably suck anyway
It's absolutely the same machine. Just with a slightly better CPU. Not really worth a review imho
@@marcopn1174 So the same machine except something that completely changes the way the computer behaves. Ok.

@@marcopn1174 Battery life is noticeably better on the AMD variant.
This solidifies my decision for the Lenovo Legion. The upgradability is the deal breaker
12:50 fan noise. did the last fan noise have a slight high pitch sound?
It’s because of the third fan of the Zephyrus G16 which is smaller
How would the 4080 Asus G16 perform against its compitition?
Love my Legion Slim 7 (which is the previous year's version of the Legion 7). That Glacier White is cool as hell though, but can't justify getting it as my LS7 already has a RTX 4060.
I wonder how these 2 compare to the MSI Stealth 16 and Acer Predator Triton Neo 16?
Heya, is MiniLED Legion 7/9 with AMD CPU available? My experience with Legion5 intel is just a bit of unnecessary power and I'm not trying to gamble with 14th Gen intel.
How does the Legion 7i compare to the Zepyrus G16 with AMD Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 Processor? I am planing on buying one of these; both are similarly priced at 4070. Here Intel Ultra 9 is only available in the 4080 version of the laptop.
Btw HDMI 2.1 can run 144hz 4K. WHy do you only mention 120hz 4k?
Hey Jarrod. What are your thoughts on the new zephyrus g16 with the new amd ryzen 9 ai processor?
it looks really nice but also soldered ram
@@naumanahm should get a slight battery life bump, maybe the better CPU performance helps it in games a little. Everything else is the same.

are these overkill for someone who works from home and does heavy testing... no gaming... multiple monitors and lots of browsing tabs, memory intensive programs and microsoft office etc.
Love my Aorus 17H with RTX 4080 and 360Hz screen. Bought it in March 2023 on sale for only $1400. Can't beat that deal, especially right on the month of release
Never found 4080 laptop for les than 1700
Its a more than un beatable deal
Well you just hit jackpot with that holy
You missed the point of the video, which is comparing two laptops at the same price point and similar in portability. No doubt Gigabyte makes good machines, but yours is a brick compared to the two in this video.
Aorus what is screen type may i ask?
This may be a silly question, but for the USB-C ports, you're mentioning that "only one of the ports" has this support or that support - how do you know which one? Is it labeled somewhere/somehow, or do you just have to experiment? I have a Legion 5 Slim and I'm wondering if the two ports have different capabilities and how I'm supposed to find out. One is unmarked, one is labeled USB-PD, but no indications that I see about DisplayPort functionality.
Try to find the info on legion's own website, find a detailed video by this channel or another one about your laptop or simply try for yourself. Go for whichever is fastest first
RTFM.
I guess what im asking is if its safe to upgrade it to the 96 or if i should stick to 64?
i would choose g16 just because of the screen and build quality even if the performance is better in legion (asus is hotter but it’s built that way that it’s not important at all how hot it is)
Asus tends to have more thermal throttling than legion :)
Hi Jarod, what battery bank would you recommend for gaming laptops, particularly ones that are higher end? Not for gaming on them but just browsing and watching videos. Thanks
Is Region 7 a weight to carry around?
is there a RTX 4080 version of this Legion ?
Does this bios support undervolting?
Thank you for your reviews they're the best
Is it not worth to get the 4080 or 4090 of G16? Despite the 115W TGP.
Does the Legion Pro 7i just blow the G16 out of the water?
Thanks mate this helped alot im getting the g16 next week. Thanks alot
did you bought the laptop and how it is
@@KINGABREVEye I bought it and it's really nice. It has good battery life, speakers and the OLED which the Lenovo doesn't have
Could you review the Legion Pro 7i with a Ryzen 9 7945hx cpu pretty please would really appreciate it
Makes me wonder what a Legion 7 in that beautiful chassis and excellent cooling would look like with Core Ultra or Ryzen.
Should I buy legion pro 5i (i9 4060) or legion 7i (i7 4060)?? 🤔
Hi there I am confused between Asus Rog Strix G16 i7 Rtx4060 and Legion 5 pro i7 rtx 4060 laptop.
Can you suggest which laptop I should go for ?
stupid question. does it come with a normal 3 prong outlet instead of that giant weird shape one?
i'm currently using a legion 7i gen 7, still a solid choice for those who like legion 7i clean look and high build quality
Thank you, man. I'm thinking about getting the 3080ti pre-owned but it costs 1700$ is that a good deal?
@@mr.potatohead3870 you have to compare with newer model in your place, in mine tho, with 1700$ equivalent, i could get a newer 40 series legion 7i
That looks like the price when it was brand new.
@@aras_aras_aras_aras I would avoid the yoga due to the power button. Salemntechsports has a video about it. It breaks and is impossible to replace.
How about the AMD AI version of the g16? Would you Still recommend the Intel Legion over the G16?
It seems to be really good but way more expensive. The raw performance is still less than the hx chip if nanoreview is to be believed, so the legion will still have the better performance.
@@davitdavid7165 would the AMD chip with the 4070 not be more efficient? Or am I wrong? :) raw performance maybe slightly behind, but not by that much for the efficiency of the AMD, no?

Which one do you suggest? ( they are at same prices)
I don’t have any idea about rog strix g16 battery life so I would be grateful if you give me tell about it too
If performance is your priority and you won't mind the weight go for the 4090.
rams do die after using it overtime right? do soldered rams also die or are they built different ?
Unlike SSDs or flash storage, RAM doesn't have a lifetime inherently and inevitably limited by usage, but of course it can fail. I doubt that LP-DDR RAM differs from other DDR RAM in that aspect.
@@Spurdospaerde692 so if bad luck hits us and the soldered ram dies then the laptop is broke permanently or is it fixable with micro soldering (replacing )
The Legion 7i on sale at Best Buy was the clear choice for me. I wanted the AMD G16 32GB 4070, but not for $500-$600 more. And you can't even change the ram, also possible burn-in years later...
Hi guys here in europe we are have some discounts, im thinking about the lenovo with i9 and rtx 4090 is it better than this version with i7?
Can you compare legion 7i with 4080 vs Scar 16 4080..
Absolutely peak design for both, they are so beautiful and minimalistic
Hey Sir ! This is the most recent video regarding Zephyrus tech , and my question was .. are there any models that will be released this year or in 2025 ?
