    I just ordered one of these 4 days ago. Your reviews have helped me choose what I hope to be a suitable first bow to begin to learn on. This will be my first bow since childhood. Expect it in about three weeks. Making my way through "The Way of Archery" with eager anticipation. Best regards and thank you for sharing your knowledge.

    Stupid question- but as I have only just recieved my first bow.
    -Does the top end of the bow have the alibow logo and poundage on or the bottom end?
    -Also is there a way of knowing that the string is on the right way (as no nocking point)?
    Thank you

      Armin Hirmer Of course!! I’ll probably get my next bow based on your reviews. My choice is between the Tang Chan An by Alibow or the Hun (long version), 33 inch draw) by Jackal, and I’ve watched those videos at least a dozen times. Sometimes pictures on the makers website isn’t enough. I like to see how the bow bends, it’s size, etc, and seeing the bow used does a lot more for me than just looking at photos.

    Is it normal for the leather and string wrapped handle portion to scratch or wear down from shooting on a horse bow? Do you or anyone else have this problem? I think that the leather and string wrapped handles are so beautiful and I get paranoid they will scratch and wear down due to the arrows friction and that they won't be easily replaceable if they are glued down? also, is there a way I can replace or protect the nice leather handle if it does scratch or wear down? Thank you!

    I have been trying to shoot without a thumb ring. Do you hold the string 90 degrees to your thumb? I have been but it's a lot of weight on the thumb. Show us how you hold the string on your bare thumb when you review the Turkish bow if you don't mind. I'd appreciate it. Thank you

    • @ArminHirmer

    • @lordives7181
      @lordives7181 5 лет назад +2

      Isn't 30# too much for LARP? Even with rubber arrow head it could be dangerous.

      @emilwestgaardhenriksen1715 5 лет назад +1

      @@lordives7181 30# is the absolute maximum of draw of a LARP bow, if so I would guess if he use only 28-29 inch arrows he'll be fine but of they meassure the draw with a 30 inch or longer they would probably deam it illegal for larping since the draw weight would be grater than 30#

    That bow looks like it performs pretty well... Might be my first traditional recurve. Not sure if it really was a difference but the bow seemed to shoot a bit quieter with the heavier arrows. And I'm not sure if the bow's 'quietness' is indicative of less vibration or not.

    • @iwandobrev2768
      @iwandobrev2768 6 лет назад

      This is a horsebow, not a recurve, because it is double-curved. The recurve bow are curved at the ends of the bow only, but this one is curved also at the upper- and the lower-side of the handle, so that why it is a horsebow. It is a mongolian type horsebow. This is what I wanted you to know and I really don't mean to offend you. ;)

    Why would you use a western three fingered draw on a Mongolian bow ?

    • @ArminHirmer

      Even in Mongolia they shot and shoot like this. Whatever works for you, do it

    is it strong enough to hunt deer? thx

    • @ArminHirmer
      @ArminHirmer  7 лет назад

      available up to 45#. I don't know if that is enough.

    • @joelvis65
      @joelvis65 6 лет назад

      you need somewhere between a 50-90 pounder to hunt deer, elk and other animals.

    • @davidwarren719
      @davidwarren719 5 лет назад

      45 or 50# is plenty for deer and bear. 60# is plenty for elk, moose, etc.
      You don’t NEED a 90# bow unless you’re hunting elephants and you have little confidence lol
      A 60-70# bow will kill any animal currently walking the earth.

    • @ArminHirmer

      you should shoot with matching arrow weight - then the speed will be roughly the same

    I saw a guy at YT making a Turkish bow of "PVC" pipe !! and it was very strong absolutely perfect and cost next to nothing :-) and very nice looking to.(and you have make it your self..)

    Snappy and those vibration are probably because of the short limb. Well I could be wrong though.

    • @Rouxzie
      @Rouxzie 7 лет назад

      Its because the limbs are made of heavy glass and even have leather over that. Not a good combo for speed

    Thank you for trying both Mediterranean and Mongolian draws.
    Statistically, thumb/Mongolian draws produce a speed superior to the Mediterranean draw.

    Hi, nice review! I'm going to buy this bow, should I take 30# or 25# with 26" drawing length? I'm a beginner (and kinda tiny person) and shooting 68"/24# olympic recurve at the moment, what do you think? And thanks for the great videos! :)

    • @ArminHirmer
      @ArminHirmer  7 лет назад

      I think the 25# will be fine for you. Maybe you want to start thumb draw up to 28 or even 30 inches. Should be easy possible. Have fun

    I'd like to see you make reviews of some arrows, wood/bamboo, maybe carbon. Decent budget arrows but also high quality bamboo/wood arrows. Weight in relation to spine, grouping, and durability would be interesting. If you feel like you dont have enough to do :D Anyways, thanks for the videos! They're great, keep it up!

      Oh, and how well spine and weight matching is would be good to know. Node matching for bamboo arrows perhaps.

    New to archery...I wanted to know: Do I need to unstring this bow even if its fiber glass or could I store it away as it is?

    • @ArminHirmer
      @ArminHirmer  6 лет назад +4

      Yes, I would unstring the bow always after using it

    • @Breacher141
      @Breacher141 6 лет назад +2

      unstring every traditional bow. no matter what it is, fiberglass, wood, horn etc. if you leave it strung up, they can explode in your hand.

    • @Breacher141
      @Breacher141 6 лет назад +3

      and one more thing, never shoot a wooden arrow out of a compound bow. haha you probably knew that but its just as important as unstringing your bows lol

    so we can say that this bow is good for target shooting but not for hunting
    deer will jump the shot
    will squat cuz he will hear the bow release

    • @ArminHirmer
      @ArminHirmer  7 лет назад

      I would not use any fibreglass bow for hunting, but I am no hunter, so I cannot say

    • @TheDave570
      @TheDave570 7 лет назад +9

      I have been bow hunting for 30 years and I have never had a white tail "jump" the string!! Normally "if" they hear the string, the arrow is already at the target. I don't shoot 30 yard shots. I wait and get a close sure shot, usually the distance, in my woods, is about 10-15 yrds. what is wrong with fiberglass?? American bows are fiberglass and wood or synthetic. Usually if a white tail hears a different sound they will stop listen to see what, where. Not take off running. Like I said in 30 years I have never see a deer react to a sound like that. If he's moving and I want him to stop, I'll make a short noise. First thing he does is stop sniff, and listen.
