Just received this bow (my first Asiatic/horse bow after 50 years of longbows and recurves) from Alibow, 3 weeks and one day after ordering it (China to Canada). Bought it specifically based on this review, and after shooting 50 or 60 arrows I'm grinning from ear to ear! Thanks for the review and this great channel.

@@qf6894 I'll need to go back and check, but I think I've been firing 600 grain at 32 inches. More for the economy of the arrows I source than them being fine tuned, but they shoot fine.
I bought this bow at 30# for my gf on the basis of your review. She's never really done archery before so I was taking a bit of a punt, but she absolutely loves it! It's really easy for her to use and because it's so small, she doesn't feel overwhelmed by it while she's learning what to do with her hands and how to draw properly. And in fact, I really like the bow too. It shoots very nicely and performing khatra with it happens almost automatically. Great value for a $70 bow. Thanks for the review, Armin. It looks like you've added another traditional style archer to the ranks.
I just had the 45 pound version delivered, just shot a few arrows, and will get to know it over the weekend, very compact, a person, who was going after Rabbits and small game could easily hide inside jacket, but not UK, as bow hunting illegal, just like speeding.
Update, 4 months later, still going strong, must be into the thousands of shots by now using this one, does stack very quickly if you try to overdraw, enough power with a broadhead to go through most furry things.
The truth is this bow is sufficient for 99% of recreational shooters. Laminated version will only give nicer looks, +10% FPS and fewer vibrations. All that at x2-5 higher cost. ... spend your money wisely
I bought this as my very first bow w/500g 30" carbon arrows. Out of all the archery styles, this seems to be what I'm most interested in. I've never shot bows before and find that thumb release feels much better. Currently I'm learning totally on my own. I'm only about 60 arrows in and did a video of myself to review my positioning. The immediate thing I noticed was using thumb as an arrow rest hurts! I found your technique on raising the nock on the string about an inch higher helpful, but for now, I'm using a cheap golf glove to prevent my already sliced up knuckle from hindering my technique. I also am a bit afraid of drawing too far this early as I accidentally missed my target and punched a hole in the garage by trying to draw too far, lol. Hopefully taking videos of myself and analyzing them based on teachers like you will minimize developing bad habits.
I bought this bow due to this video. I am glad I did. One of my favourite bows. Totally impressed with how great it shoots. Definitely buy one. I have been using it for two years now. Great video. Thank you. Keep up the great reviews.
Just received my Turkish Fibreglass Bow from Alibow. I picked the 20# draw weight as this bow is serving two purposes. First, this will be my wife's bow for her to target shoot, but for me, I want to train with it until I have thumb draw down. Then I'm planning on purchasing a 45 or 50# for deer hunting. Love it so far!
Got this bow to use in airsoft because of your review a couple years ago and have recently started uploading the videos. I wanted to come back here to thank you. These bows are absolute tanks!
@@Larrypint I have heard that you can leave the string on, but it will lower the strength of the bow over time. I unstring my bow when I am not using it.

They could do a better job of quality control on the tips. Many have broken because the hardwood plug used to reinforce it was too close to the tip and/or too small for the hole it was glued into. They'll replace the bow, but it should not happen in the first place.
I have had one of these for about 6 months. It is 50# at 28". I draw it to 29 or 30" and it has really surprised me with the accuracy I can get with such a small bow and the speed. Even shooting a 900 grain arrow it shoots fairly accurately out to about 30 yards.

Hello good day I have a question for you. I live in catalunya within the euro zone, I would have a shipping problem with alibow ?, I have seen that they are from china ... what should I do to get the Turkish bow without any problem or additional charge?
i bought one of these bows and chose 50 lbs and i found out that it is to heavy draw weight for me i haven't been shooting a bow for about 30 years well is it just starting to practice with it or should i bye a bow with lesser draw weight and then work my way up to use my 50 lbs bow ?
May have already been asked but I am new at archery and today was at range and gal had a Turkish bow and looked interesting. She loved it and suggested I look at one so found your video. Really enjoy all your videos. You like this one but any other suggestions if I don’t like the leather in middle, or do they all come like that?
This bow will last for ever right ? I am thinking about taking up "functional" archery as a hobby. A nice sturdy and not sensitive now that lasts for you would be nice.
I have a fiber glass bow I got as a kid some 20 years ago. It was made with less quality than this one apears to be and still shoots like the day I got it. I'm sure this better made Ali bow would last far more than 20 years.
I have a 50 year old recurve, it's a laminate, but the power of it comes from the glass. I'd assume this would maybe even last longer than a laminate since there's no laminations to come apart?
Hi there Armin, due to this review I gave it a try and my bow arrived today. I'm really impressed, no handshock as promised...wow. I've shot some horsebow before and the all had a (sometimes really awful) handshock 😬. The only thing I wondered is, do you know what brace height is recommended, or what brace height do you prefer? I couldn't find anything on their description 🤔.Thx for this review 👍😊
You can check Alibow's website, they have youth bows suitable for children. I assume you're watching "Diriliş Ertuğrul" and started to have an interest about traditional Turkish archery. Then you can read old Ottoman handwrites, you can find them in Arabic too.
I wonder what he is shooting at? His camera man? Hahaha. A nice crowd pleaser. Mob control device. What’s he mean I will shoot female? Close up? No bow is that flexible looks inviting!
I have gotten this bow thanks to your review. *thumbs up* I am about to learn to shoot instinctively + khatra with this bow. What I wonder, do you shoot with khatra shooting moving (airborne projectiles) targets ? I am about to implement shooting thrown object as soon as possible during my learning process and wonder if I should bother to use khatra there. BTW I like your videos , they are interesting and very informative!
I have two of his Turkish bows - biocomposite and basic. Grozer was "great" (~10 years ago), when he was just one of the few bowyers making trad. horsebows. These days we have a choice so Grozer is no longer "the greatest"... Besides, I have seen broken/delaminated Grozer bows, which does not add a lot of confidence. Esp., considering the price.
I have the Alibow Turkish fiberglass @ 50# and the Alibow Turkish laminated @ 40#. I prefer the laminated even thought the fiberglass is a nice bow. The laminated @ 40# seems to shoot as fast as the fiberglass @ 50# because it is more efficient. I have an AF Tatar laminated bow @ 35# which is very nice but I still prefer the Alibow Turkish laminated to the AF Tatar. If money is an issue than you cannot go wrong with the Alibow Turkish fiberglass.
AF still makes their "$179" laminated Turkish that shoots just as nice as more expensive ...li or ....zer bow. Yes, the handle is too thin, this is an easy fix. Another problem of AF bows - poorly glued on string bridges. Mine flew off on first 20 or so shots.
I am thinking to get that bow what do you think or should i get the more expensive version? i prefer AF becasue the draw length is 32 as they say for the turkish style
What is your favorite bow design? Such as Crimean Tatar or Turkish. Design has to make some differance in the two. Theres internet talk about this. They say if you want to shoot light arrows farther you need a Turkish Design. If you want to shoot heavy arrows with more penitration you need Tatar Design. Basically they say Turkish bows have their limits with heavy arrows vs the tatar. Would you care to prove or disprove this? All it would take is 1 tatar bow and 1 Turkish bow of similiar or same draw weight. Chrono the speeds of a heavy arrow and see if the differance is enough to make it matter or not. Just a thught...thanks again
Turkish design is efficient with heavy or light arrows. The short length creates this efficiency. The Turkish design is more efficient than even an English longbow with a heavy arrow. Efficiency is in large part the ratio of arrow draw length to working bow limb length.
@Larrypint I have been Shooting the Arif Budiman Tiny Turkish. They are about 33" strung. I had him make me some higher poundage bows. Armin has reviewed them they look like toys but, they ain't.
My friend I need your valuable opinion. I am somehow hooked to this fibreglass bow after watching all your reviews. My arm span is 71 inches and I want to have the 40 lbs version. But Ali Bow says it's going to be too short for me. They are suggesting a longer Turkish bow or the Crimean Tatar bow. I feel a 28 to 30 inch draw length is sufficient for me as a beginner. Please help with your opinion. After years of handling guns and other weapons my instinct says this snappy bow is perfect for me. Your words are final for me because I have accepted you as my Guru (that's the Hindu word for teacher in my country, India). Thanks and regards.
You might have moe fun with a bit longer draw then this in the future. I guess something with 30 to 32" would suit you well. And the longer turkish and tatar are still short and snappy, no worries ;)
Turkish vs Tatar...I think they would be similar. I've read many of peoples opioions and personal beliefs. The chrono would provide truth however. Mass x velocity never lies. :)

Oh I see. Thanks. I will get a Turkish bow soon. Many thing to learn. And one more thing, I really appreciate your fast answers. I've made few comments before you always answer and very fast. Thanks for sharing.!
Hi @Armin Hirmer Would you recommend it at 50 pounds draw weight (at 28")?? Alibow is offering the option on their website.
2nd do you think 400 grains arrows will do for the 50 pound?
I will silence the bridge too if you advice for it.
Thanks for your knowledge!
Never that one with this # your draw length should be fine. 400 will work
Thank you. If you advice not to take the 50 pounds draw, should i take the 45 or 40? If not wich bow should i look for in the same quality/price range?
The later versions have a thinner, shorter grip than earlier models. I like the later version better.
Can you shoot arrows whose fletching are plastic with traditional bow?
I heard that plastic vanes will cut my thumb when they are shot.
even real feathers will cut if you nock the arrow too low. simply nock half and inch higher as right angle
Armin Hirmer Thank you siri!
Hi Armin. Is there a minimum GPP arrow for this bow?
Not officially but I would not go much lower than 8-9gpp
@@ArminHirmer thanks. And merry Christmas!🎄
Good bow and video.
thanks for watching
I just bought this bow and I was wondering what your recommended grain per pound was
I would go with min 10gpp, have fun
Armin Hirmer thank you, sir!
Hello good day
I have a question for you. I live in catalunya within the euro zone, I would have a shipping problem with alibow ?, I have seen that they are from china ... what should I do to get the Turkish bow without any problem or additional charge?
Do you like the turkish or tatar from alibow better?
I would also like to know....
How far it can go?
i bought one of these bows and chose 50 lbs and i found out that it is to heavy draw weight for me i haven't been shooting a bow for about 30 years well is it just starting to practice with it or should i bye a bow with lesser draw weight and then work my way up to use my 50 lbs bow ?
to start with 30# would be enough, I did some videos about that :)
@@ArminHirmer Ok then a will get me one in 30 to and work my way up to the 50 thank you for fast reply and a happy new year
Is this better or the tatar bow from alibow?
i like the tatar more
@@ArminHirmer thx. Very helpful.
May have already been asked but I am new at archery and today was at range and gal had a Turkish bow and looked interesting. She loved it and suggested I look at one so found your video. Really enjoy all your videos.
You like this one but any other suggestions if I don’t like the leather in middle, or do they all come like that?
this one comes with leather handle, but you could remove it
This bow will last for ever right ?
I am thinking about taking up "functional" archery as a hobby. A nice sturdy and not sensitive now that lasts for you would be nice.
forever I don't know, but sure a very long time :)
I couldn't find anything on their description 🤔.Thx for this review 👍😊
werd mal nachsehen :)
Hi Armin
Is this good for kids (9 and 12 years old) at lower draw weights(15? 20 pounds?)
They want to practice instinctive archery.
Hi, sure it is. We have here a 10yo shooting a 25# (of course she does not draw 28") but Alibow would even have smaller fibreglass bows
Armin Hirmer
Thanks a lot for replying
greatly appreciated
You can check Alibow's website, they have youth bows suitable for children. I assume you're watching "Diriliş Ertuğrul" and started to have an interest about traditional Turkish archery. Then you can read old Ottoman handwrites, you can find them in Arabic too.
they are good bows
I just got mines today, I was curious which arrows would you recommend as the best for this bow overall?
What draw weight?
@@ArminHirmer 35, I should have said that. My fault.
@@UTxTheArchangel I would use some carbon shafts with it, spine 600 or 500 in 30"
@@ArminHirmer Many thanks.
I'll go to amazon for this bow , I'm on too you ......
I wonder what he is shooting at? His camera man? Hahaha. A nice crowd pleaser. Mob control device. What’s he mean I will shoot female? Close up? No bow is that flexible looks inviting!
Öneriyor musunuz ?
I love mine
Still happy with it?
I have gotten this bow thanks to your review. *thumbs up*
I am about to learn to shoot instinctively + khatra with this bow.
What I wonder, do you shoot with khatra shooting moving (airborne projectiles) targets ? I am about to implement shooting thrown object as soon as possible during my learning process and wonder if I should bother to use khatra there.
BTW
I like your videos , they are interesting and very informative!
Still happy with it?
Pretty Nice! Have you ever tried the grozer one?
I have two of his Turkish bows - biocomposite and basic. Grozer was "great" (~10 years ago), when he was just one of the few bowyers making trad. horsebows. These days we have a choice so Grozer is no longer "the greatest"... Besides, I have seen broken/delaminated Grozer bows, which does not add a lot of confidence. Esp., considering the price.
1-if you have the money for both, what would you prefer
the alibow Turkish fiberglass or af Turkish style bow fiberglass?
2-do alibow ship to turkey?
I have the Alibow Turkish fiberglass @ 50# and the Alibow Turkish laminated @ 40#. I prefer the laminated even thought the fiberglass is a nice bow. The laminated @ 40# seems to shoot as fast as the fiberglass @ 50# because it is more efficient. I have an AF Tatar laminated bow @ 35# which is very nice but I still prefer the Alibow Turkish laminated to the AF Tatar. If money is an issue than you cannot go wrong with the Alibow Turkish fiberglass.
for me always Alibow first. I laminated bows AF did catch up with using german glass, but price is now same as Alibow. So I stick with them
AF still makes their "$179" laminated Turkish that shoots just as nice as more expensive ...li or ....zer bow. Yes, the handle is too thin, this is an easy fix. Another problem of AF bows - poorly glued on string bridges. Mine flew off on first 20 or so shots.
I had the same problem with the string bridges with my AF Tatar bow. It is an easy fix.
Just a thught...thanks again
good idea, I might do that. my fav design is more the tatar. thanks for watching
Turkish design is efficient with heavy or light arrows. The short length creates this efficiency. The Turkish design is more efficient than even an English longbow with a heavy arrow. Efficiency is in large part the ratio of arrow draw length to working bow limb length.
of course less mass on the limbs, more energy into the arrow. thanks for your comment and watching
Can you recommend a recurred bow that's is better then this one but not to much Money but better then this one
This is the bow I have coming in today but, at 50 pounds.
Happy with it?
@Larrypint That was my first horse bow. It was fine but, I have since moved on to shorter bows.
@@UncleDanBand64 even shorter? Which one?
Armin Hirmer thank you so so much. Will place the order right away. Appreciate your help. Regards
welcome and enjoy your bow!
I sure will. Let's see how fast they can deliver :)
So whats better, tatar or the turkish one? Turkish looks really small but fast af. I can't decide.
good question, take both haha. the turkish is more snappy, but I am still more a fan of tatar design. both great
lbs?
20 to 50, this one is 30#@28
70 dollars Holy molly
you have to pull the arrow from the right side. and use your thumb
oh really? I did not know that.... wait.... I think I did a dozen videos about that... but thanks for watching
There might be some truth to the lore about Turkish bows. If everyone believes it, it must be true. Haha
from my side it is not believe (that belongs to religion) for me it is testing it and having the results as own experience :)
Turkish vs Tatar...I think they would be similar. I've read many of peoples opioions and personal beliefs. The chrono would provide truth however. Mass x velocity never lies. :)
maybe I will do a test :)
