feel like on several points, the symbiote is confused in a legitimate way. it achieves the desires of its hosts and those around its hosts yet they are never satisfied.

@@RandomKai27Yes. Besides everything it did, the only thing it was trying to do was help. He tried to help Peter being a better Spider-Man by making him kill, and he tried to help Harry heal the world by infecting everyone with the symbiote.
When first playing the game, I thought it was just pure evil, but after replaying it, I realized how there's way more depth to the symbiote in this story.

I love how you can get a feel that it’s both Harry and Venom speaking personally to Peter, not just Venom.
Yes, especially when they say "We gave you everything you wanted and you threw us away". They both gave Peter what he wanted (Harry possibility to heal the world with science, Venom powers to be better Spider-Man) but he rejected it. So that quote is true for both of them.
When they merge the host shares all their memories with the symbiote so it really was like venom could feel Harry's pain, I think Todd did a great job expressing that

From what i actually read about the casting of tony todd, apparently insomniac had many candidates or ideas, then one day an employee sent an email to tony todd on the off chance that he’d be interested in voicing venom and then tony sent back an audition doing the voice, would love to hear him do more voices for venom
Tony Todd is a horror LEGEND. From the amazing antihero The Candyman, to the mortician in Final Destination, to frigging VENOM now. He's so talented, and such a perfect fit for the role.

I feel like half of the animation budget went to venom. Every shot hes in looks straight out of a comic book. Venom with his wings and carrying peters unconscious body looked fantastic

Tony Todd was a perfect fit for Venom his voice is awesome and it makes Venom feel more powerful and intimidating, Wish I had a PS5 to play this but either way Insomniac did a great job with this game definitely better than the first game

Trust me I used to be in the same boat except it was with my ps4 I was an Xbox one player but they came out with so many of these incredible games for Sony that I wanted to play so badly but I just couldn't and I got a PS4 at the time it was incredible but it was at the time where they were releasing now planning on releasing the PS5. I genuinely hope u guy's get one one and I add more u guys for being in such good and positive spirit unlike most people😔🙏🏾💯

When I saw those wings, I was MINDBLOWN. Insomniac really held nothing back making Venom terrifying. I know that some people were upset Eddie Brock wasn't gonna be Venom. But one of the thing that Venom always has is an obsession towards Peter and Spider-Man. In Eddie's case, it was due to hatred. In Harry's case, it was the friendship they had. Insomniac kept that obsession Venom has and really used it well. They really made the best Venom possible. Not just by design but also as a character.
Except it was only Venom, Harry only hated Peter because the Symbiote did.
It's supposed to be symbiosis, not control.
@@willfanofmanyii3751 He didn't hate Peter though. He wanted to 'heal the world' together with him. He just needed the Symbiote so he can keep living but it bonded with him to the point his thoughts became warped.
There was some envy though since Harry overheard Norman telling Peter that he’s like a son to him and how proud Norman was of Peter.

So seeing Peter being praised like that by Norman, I think it warped Harry into thinking that as long as they have the Symbiote, it'll earn his praises. Remember how he even demanded Norman to be happy about how he got stronger and healthy then reminded him that was what he wanted?
What's really funny is that, even despite being Harry instead of Eddie Brock, this version of Venom is still more faithful than the Sony version with Tom Hardy. It's a different host, but the core idea behind the character stays intact and it's a really clever spin on it.
In this game, venom is like some kind of eldritch horror. Like it's using people's deep thoughts and emotions when speaking.
This Venom seems more like a parasite than a symbiote. Coercing/Controlling the host rather than working with them to give them what they want. I suppose in a way "Anti-Hero" Venom works better since then it fits the description of symbiote better.

I mean, that was kinda the original idea behind Venom in The Comics. Before Eddie Brock was the host, it was actually going to be a grieving mother who blamed Spidey for miscarrying her baby but the editorial team for obvious reasons vetoed that idea, resulting in the mess of Venom origins we`ve since gotten, most of which have not been the greatest.

He is a good actor but I would not call him a celebrity actor. He does a lot of voice acting. It is arguably where he does most of his big work now.
This was not the first time I noticed Tony Todd, because before that he was in the transformer sequel when he played the fallen .

Venom’s characterization is insane. He doesn’t necessarily hate Peter and was desperately trying to take over him. Yet he’s a manipulator by at one point clinging to Peter and then blaming Peter for staying separated from Harry
Beat the game last night. When I heard "Kill Kraven" a chill went down my spine. Tony Todd was the perfect choice for Venom.
I noticed the symbiote really did want to help, but was just too evil and psychotic to go about it the right way. It's toxic traits as well as it's mission to invade were it's downfall.
I think its more like it hijacked Harry's motives and personality and used them to achieve its own goal.
@@diccchocolate416 If it is comic book accurate then symbiosis is a two-way street, Harry affects the symbiote as much as Venom affects Harry. The Venom persona in the original comics wasn't even the symbiote but an amalgamation of personalities of Eddie Brock and symbiote, the symbiote itself didn't had a name, until much later.

the symbiote needs a host as IS in fact a symbiote rather than a parasite. it is motivated by what motivates its host. its why it only went about the take over the wrold plan when with harry. but with peter it went along with his hero duty shit... but in both ways it takes the plans to degrees that are borderline psychotic/simply lacking the human perspective.
This does mean this version of venom could be tamed with the right host.

@@taddad2641so Flash might still have a chance after all, but jury’s still out on Eddie depending on what version they go with. Regular 616 where he starts out as an asshole but slowly gets better, or Ultimate where he’s always an asshole.
What I love about this Venom is that under the symbiote is still Harry, and it's not entirely the symbiote in control, it's Harry AND Venom together
When a symbiote are in a perfect sync with it's host, they can draw the most powerful of their abilities like how Venom able to infect the entire town and capable to overpower and kill Kraven.
No Dr.Connors says that harry is gone. Harry didn’t control any of his actions

Hes just lost in the same way a drug addict is "lost" and "not in control" when he starts doing things to further feed his adiction, and the bond he had with the symbiote was just too strong for him to just snap out of it and just like any addiction, the only one who can break it is the addict. Even Miles says it to Peter, "youre gonna have to save yourself from this one"

I love how Venom and Harry essentially wanted to do the same thing, granted it was definitely in different directions but still sort of the same.
from the rest of the game, it seems like the symbiote echoes the desires of its current host. with peter venom wanted to 'protect the city' as it were, but seeminghl the creature seeks imple solutions, so it tried to kill kraven.
with harry, it decided that reproducing and filling the world with its kind would be the best solution.

The symbiote didnt think that killing kraven was a solution, Peter did. When we go inside his mind we see that hes thought about killing criminals and how it would be a better solution to locking them up. He even questions if he did right by stopping Yuri from killing the cult leader and hes symbiote free at this point. Lee even says that that might not be something Peter would think but it is how he feels, and you cant control how you feel. And seeing how the symbiote wants the best for its host it makes them act on these feelings instead of repressing them

1. A Eddie Brock story
2. Carnage as a antagonist
3. Allowing us to kill criminals
4. Anne Weying as a supporting character and parts where we play as She Venom
5. Boss fights with characters like Shriek
The fact that Venom gets offended by being called a "thing" makes me think it's Venom talking and NEVER Harry. Venom is literally just luring and gaslighting people into thinking that it is indeed Harry talking and not the Venom symbiote that's in full control.
And his offense to one word is probably a nod to Tom Hardy’s Venom, who hates being called parasite (yeah this version of Venom really hates being called a “thing”, just like Tom Hardy’s version hates being called a “parasite”).
They really got candyman out here voicing one of spideys most vicious villains.

Tony Todd's casting was just pure genius I love you finally hear the symbiote talked to Peter first inside his head with lines like "Kill Kraven" and "Rip Him Apart"
Like Richard Schiff and Odin, Tony Todd absolutely killed it with Venom.
Getting a veteran horror actor to voice Venom was a genius mood. And Tony Todd has one of those voices that dually encapsulates the seductiveness and menace of the Symbiote.

Harry pov: He gave peter the chance to work at his dream job and make a difference and Peter from his pov chose the suit over his life.
Symbiote pov: They gave Peter everything they could offer and tried to make their host's life better just for him to throw them away like nothing and tried to kill them
This has to be my favorite voice for venom ever to exist. Really hoping we somehow get to hear more of Todd’s venom wether it be in a spin-off game or nightmare dream sequence of peter’s biggest regrets.

Venom is a great villain without a doubt
Unsurprising that Tony "Candyman" Todd absolutely killed it as Venom but what I really want to see now is Brad Dourif (AKA the voice of Chucky) as Cletus Kasady/Carnage. I've always believed that he'd be absolutely perfect for the character, just go look up his performance as the Gemini Killer in Exorcist 3 and tell me you can't imagine it as Carnage if you close your eyes.
That's an interesting idea for casting although he might be a bit too old now to do his Sinister voice I mean he's still good as Chucky but I don't know if he would still be able to pull it off

I love how at points during the boss fight, you can’t tell if it’s Harry venting at Peter or the symbiote.
Harry’s mind is completely fused with the Symbiote. It’s impossible to tell where Harry ends and Venom starts at points… they are one.

That’s the thing often missed. The relationship between the symbiote and its host is a two way street and just as it influences what the host wants, the host influences what it wants. Harry wanted to heal the world and the symbiote just went about it the main way it knew how, but making the world like Venom. Same goes for Peter.
While I can’t confirm it, I even think this was why Venom didn’t try to kill Peter and instead tried to convince him to join them. Because the symbiote knows Harry wouldn’t want Peter to die. Plus I’m sure it itself had some attachments left for Peter since they were bonded for a time.
I was genuinely astonished when I realized it was Tony Todd’s sickly smooth voice - master tier horror actor, showing his chops. A lot of people complain about celebrity cameos, but this was fucking *brilliant* choice by the devs. Incredibly well done.
i love how tony todd doesn't outright copy tom hardy venom's voice and instead somewhat does his own thing you can hear inspiration from tom hardy in tony todd's venom voice but it's his own thing

This is the best version of Venom we’ve gotten since Tom Hardy came out, but this is what Tom Venom should have looked like if he wasn’t goofing around.
There is also the cutscene from when Mary Jane zaps Peter to wake him up, and he says "MJ... Run!" as his voice switched to Venom's.
Tony Todd did a Sensational job and deserves all the praises, as well as the Amazing people at Insomniac who knew to cast him. Everyone who worked on this game did a Spectacular job. The campaign is an Amazing Fantasy and is far Superior to whatever the current writers are making at the comics industry.

i was playing this game late at night in the living room with all the lights off and my headphones plugged into the controller. the moment i heard venom's voice, it honestly freaked me out a bit. had to turn on one of the living room lights to feel a little safer lol. 10/10 voice acting

I like how Venom quotes are true from both Harry and symbiote perspective. Like when he said "We gave you everything you wanted and you threw us away!". Harry gave him possibility to heal the world with science by starting Emily-May Foundation and symbiote gave him power to be "better Spider-Man" and both were rejected by Peter.

when i heard tony todd was cast as venom, i thought it was a match made in heaven... but to actually hear him speak was like music to my ears.

I think as time goes by, people are gonna recognize this game as one of the all time greatest Spider-Man stories
A lot of people say it’s rushed and they just took a bunch of other stories and then regurgitated them and mashed them all into one rushed spider-man game and some say venom is more of a plot device than a character (I like this game but I’m just saying I don’t think their opinion will change)
This is kind of what I feared when the game showed its second trailer, don’t get me wrong I lived every second Venom was in, but I had this fear that Venom was only going to be in the game for around an hour or two, and he kind of was, I still loved every second he was in
I mean, it's a game about Peter and Miles, just like the first one was about Peter, so it makes sense there is a little of Venom here, just like there was a little of Miles in the first game. They are thinking about making a Dlc with him as main character though.
They will find a way to bring him back!
I think Venom being only in the last half of the story is a choice that every movie or game that introduces the character is "doomed" to make. If the whole point of the story is to get to his origin, he's not gonna show up until the climax because Peter spending time with the symbiote is always going to be a priority in order to set Venom up properly. He can have more screen time only if he shows up in a story in which he's already an established character. At least this game made sure to make every second with him count.

You do realize we have to have Parker/Spiderman wear it first right? Then being aware it corrupting him ,before he discards it. Leading to Venom. It had to build it. and i'm glad they didn't rush it.

I like the voice, but never expected him to be hairy, because Eddie Brock will always be his true host, even if he might be different for the next game.
Well there's no real reason for Harry to be Venom anymore in this universe.
