@@Paulinho_66I can definitely feel that. I’ve replayed the first game six-seven times. I couldn’t stomach replaying Spider-Man 2. I felt so bored and drained sitting through the game a second time.
Ultimate Spider-Man had a rare crime where Shocker and Boomerang could be fought in the open world. It sucks no developer after that has tried to replicate supervillain activity in the open world. Seriously not every fight with a super villain needs to be a part of the bigger story.
@@VisForVindetta thats not even it being rushed...that was just a SH!TTY story decision used to build CHEAP tension that didnt even last 2 seconds😐🤦♂️
Heres my ideas 1.Saving people from burning building 2.Helicopter chase 3. Some mf hijack a bus 4. Literally saving a kitten from a tree 5. Pizza delivery 6. Deadlock situations (like tasm 2 game) 7. having to chase a purse snatcher into the subway before he gets on a train and gets away 8. Criminal hideouts in subways, sewers, or abandoned buildings 9. Helping old lady cross the street 10. Retrieving kids balloon
It also sucks that the residential areas in the game seem to have no smaller-scale crimes like vandalism or breaking and entering. It would be hilarious for Spidey to tell some neighborhood kids off for spray painting something
@amirigio 100% a valid criticism that I agree with. It’s a great game, but not as great as it could have been. I think it should have just been delayed till spring 2024 tbh
Yes bro! every time I'm in the neighborhood in Queens I wish there would be like a breaking and entering attempt on one of the smaller houses but nothing, they should really add some smaller scale crimes in Pete's neighborhood also Coney Island never has any crimes, that would be a good place for the save a balloon one
@@KTLaughtertrue... but maybe the screw up of Spider-Man 2 could possibly be a blessing at the end. They already built queens and brookkyn! They don't have to deliver a new island to swing on when we have enough buildings to traverse. If they want to expand their open world? It's time for them to go towards the drawing board of how they can explore the depth of their Crime and Random Moments system. The only thing they must expand is the INSIDE body of New York... we do not need a Bronx, and we most DEFINITELY do not need a freaking staten island. All we need is a living breathing New York city.
I think it would be cool if there was a rare crime where one of Spider-Man's villains broke out of the Raft. Spider-Man would have to track them down, there'll be a boss fight with them, and then he'll send them back to the Raft.
That sounds cool, idk if it would eventually get annoying or not but it would be a cool way of turning Spider-Man’s classic villain of the week shtick into a game mechanic.
@Megakiller538 But I'd love something like that! A downtown chase with Slide, Speed Demon or Big Wheel? Stopping Hyrdo Man from flooding Queens? Maybe taking down enough thugs of a certain type could lead to a battle with Silvermane?
Was sorta mentioned here, but why not just have random races with the other Spider-Man? While swinging, your character will point out either Peter or Miles hanging around nearby, and if you perch next to them, you challenge them to a race to a certain point in the map. It's low stakes, but you can add it pretty much anywhere on the map and lets you interact with the other spidey outside of just crimes. Maybe during the story theres a rare event where you couldve challenged Harry to a race when he had the symbiote
I have an idea, a division from big crimes and small neighborhood activities. Spidey uses the police scanner for bigger crimes like shootouts and armored vehicles. While the neighborhood app is used for smaller events like in miles morales. For example, helping an a car stuck in ditch.
Unfortunately some game articles called Marvel's Spider-man 1 pro-cop and copaganda. And Insomniac had to respond to that. Which is why there's no more cops responding to the crime alerts, or just fewer cops in general.
That was dumb on their part, they literally had a currupt swat team before were even introduced to streetside police. Copaganda isn't portraying police as corrupt, it's denying that police can be corrupt. Cops are supposed to be good 😂😂 🤷🏾♀️ @filippauljohnson6924
This is something that i loved about Miles Morales' game and why i rank it above Spider Man 2018. All the side missions, feel like something spider man would help out with, finding lost toys, helping a crane worker, helping a building cleaner, helping a car out of the snow, and the crimes were even better, you could help an enemy in a rogue copter, finding enemys who are messing with a board. Plus the pacing in that game is so good.
Well technically they only did that cause it was just miles learning what it meant to be Spider-Man I don’t see why that would rank it above 2018 Spider-Man’s game. Where Peter is already 23 and a veteran
I’d like as you said lower crimes like purse snatching, but does anyone remember in the first game how random npcs from Fisks gang or corrupted students would jump you when you weren’t swinging? I’d love if that was implemented as somebody robbing a store/person and you have to chase them before they escape like the crimes where you had to stop them.
I actually love a lot of these ideas for random crimes and events. Especially the balloon idea like imagine every time you return a balloon there’s a small cutscene where Spider-Man signs the balloon or draws something on it. And there could be a few different designs and words he could draw on there each encounter.
What if after a certain amount of “balloon rescues “the city throws you a festival of ballons where people just let go of a lot of balloons so for a few hours in game the sky could be filled with colors
I know it's probably just an example, but finding howard's pigeons and bringing them back home isn't possible anymore, because howard died in this game, and peter set his pigeons free. As for the car chases: It'd be cool to see insomniac use the adaptive triggers on the dualsense controller, maybe to pull the tires out from under the car or something to make it stop
This video has really opened my eyes to exactly what's missing from Spider-Man 2. I hadn't really thought much about these little things before, but that richness that gets you immersed is seriously exactly what this game is missing.
Something I personally wish the games included is non-Spider-Man activities. Taking examples from my favourite games. GTA San Andreas would let you play basketball in a basketball court if you interacted with a ball. Yakuza games allowed the characters to go out and do Karaoke or play Shogi. San Andreas also had a dance floor that you could go to and dance. Some thing else I wish the developers added is multiple crimes happening at the same time with a time limit but you've mentioned that already. It'd be nice to see Spider-Men do non-Spider-Man stuff to pass the time when they're not saving the world and are just on patrol. Interacting with civillians would also be fun aside from a simple emote or a high five there could be more things to do with civilians like taking selfies with them. The game has two school buildings available to it I'm surprised they haven't had tiny events like stoping bullying or anything like that. Great video!
The original Spider Man 2 on PS2 had a ton of these side activities that were still fit for Spiderman gameplay that just are still fun to do even 20 years later. Challenge Races, Delivering Pizzas, Practicing gameplay mechanics in the Arcade, Taking Photos for the Daily Bugle, Making a date with MJ before time runs out, and even an unlockable combat arena with three different varieties PLUS an unlockable superboss. 20 years later and PS2 Spider Man just still has so much more content than any other Spider Man game ever could dream of
Part of this is already in the game although it's EXTREMELY rare, you get to participate in yoga if it takes place at a specific spot, you also get to web a guy's keys who he lost in a sewer drain And like the first 2 games you can interact with civilians they'll give a handshake or a hug or a selfie
I've always wanted children interactions that either freak out over seeing Spider-Man, or him playing with children that pretend to be a bad guy or another Spider-Man
I don’t know if other people experienced this, but once or twice I saw the rare loot chests and went to them. Once I tried to open them I got jumped by the hunters. It could’ve been a bug or something but it made me wish that it was an actual crime
18:57 - To be fair, Kraven's hunters' reputation was already ruined when a Journalist with a stun gun and 2 weeks of training was able to clear out their new jersey Zoo base Lol. Anyway building on top of the hunters hunting Spider-Man idea, I'm going to do what the insomniac Spider-Man fanbase refuses to due out of either cope or denial, I'm going look back on what previous (previous as in before Insomniac) Spider-Man games did better. In the Amazing Spider-Man 2 game (stay with me please, I have a point) there was a type of Morality system, where you would be considered a hero or a menace, and if you were at any menace level the taskforce that Oscorp set up would start bringing in obstacles like wall mounted turrets, have barricades to impede your web swinging, and even have their drones called spider-slayers chase and track you, And I feel like the hunters should've been doing something like that. Like while Web swinging a group of hunters would throw one of those electric nets in the area and you'd have to doge it. Stuff like that. I'm gonna stop before I repeat you. (I probably already did....)
The morality system was awful to support your point. But to support your point, every single decision about the open world in web of shadows trumps anything that this game tries to do in its third act. This game was rushed and their design philosophy is the golden mission path only, they do not care at all about the open world because they probably analyse how it doesn’t affect sales
To be fair, at least the story enemies (Hunters, Symbiotes, and Flame members) stay post game, in Spider-Man 1, the demons, prisoners, and sable agents go away after like five encounters each and only leaving thugs around
I'm not sure if you guys no this, but there was an ambush mechanic introduced in the Spider-man 2018 mission. (I'm not sure if it was the OG PS4 version or the Remastered PS5 version), but there was a small chance that Kingpin would send one "hitman" after you that would appear as an NPC, and then attack you. It was so cool the first time it happened, but it only happened twice towards the beginning of the game for me. It also only happens on certain difficulties. (I think the harder ones.)
Yes! The problem is that they burnt through SO many well known villains in the past three games and KILLED most of the rouges gallery off screen to make Kraven look more like a threat. 🤦🏿♂️ INCREDIBLY wasted potential
All of those are really good suggestions. The one addition I'd add is what I call "random supervillian boss-fight". Basically, when swinging around, there'd be a rare chance (say, every 1 in 200 or so crimes) for a C-Tier supervillain to show up - The Riot Symbiote appears and is trying to create a Symbiote hive, so you've got to take him down, or Big Wheel is tearing through the streets after committing a bankheist, or you've gotta stop Jack 'O' Lantern flying about. Or, occasionally, you could be ambushed by a boss Spider-Slayer and have to boss fight that, similiar to the Taskmaster fights from the first game. Most of your crimes are going to be petty theft, helping a guy get to his job interview and saving folks from a burning building, but the odd rare bossfights would really help to spice things up, I think.
This is a beautifully made video. Comprehensive, quick, and straight to the point of what Insomniac can do better with great examples. One things for sure, Spider-Man 2 definitely lost some of its magic that it had in the previous installments. I think this video sums it up pretty well after beating the game. Well done!
I was really dissapointed how they misued the friendly neighborhood app. I really thought that there were gonna be a bunch of cool missions where someone needed help but there were only like 4. There is so much cut content for the game which really hindered what it could've been.
This is not Cyberpunk man.The game has been out for 9 months at this point at most they ll keep on releasing bug fixes etc ( even though they cant seem to care enough to do even that)not change one of the trivial game mechanics.
These are all fantastic crime ideas, I didn't even realize the issue with the current ones until this video. Hopefully Insomniac can add some if not all of these to future game updates or the next title in the series
i was kinda hoping that there would maybe be like rare crimes with lesser known spider-man villains. imagine big wheel being a very hard car chase, the enforcers mugging someone and you gotta find a way to take out a trio that actually knows how to co-ordinate. i also would have liked to have seen maybe some of the less violent more bank robby criminals like Shocker being random crimes but they went and decided that every spider-man had to die for some reason
Yeah and I don’t see any of that coming to the next game due to it being very focused on two of spideys major antagonists I don’t think they’ll have room or time to have that I wished we could’ve had extremely rare instances of villains robbing banks or attacking a police building or just extra side missions relating to spideys lesser known villains like the tombstone side mission in the first game
@@faeyzaihsanulfikri9975 It depends on if they're given enough time or not. The game was so focused on Peter and Miles because they were pushed for the Christmas release and therefore had to focus on the 'story-critical' stuff to get it done in time. If they'd been able to wait until spring or whatever, I don't doubt for a second the game would be more broad-focus, given how the first one and MM were.
Someone at Insomniac needs to watch this video. I loved Spider-Man 2, but the open world always felt off and i never knew why until this video. It's the crimes. If everything here was added, i think the open world would be so much better. Also, i think they should add random villain break outs. Not large villains, but more C-B tier ones. Sometimes, villains just break out- not for any giant plot, but because they want to be free and you as Spider-Man could have a mini boss fight with them. Insomniac makes great boss fights, so I'd love to be able to constantly do some in the open world.
This is true like I've always had this problem with every Spider-Man game I feel like there should be more Bank heist and just overall more crime like muggings and stuff like that instead of just beating up one group of gang you know
Some more ideas I’d like: Prisoner escape: I’ve seen this one get requested a lot, but it’s basically a small/medium Spider-Man villain escaping prison ans you need to stop him. Perhaps this could be a complex sort of event with multiple stages. First you race to the crime and save civilians from the havoc the villain is wreaking. Then, you’d fight the villain. You capture him and have to escort him back to the Raft. FEAST delivery: Perhaps due to some kind of traffic jam or construction, a FEAST delivery is running late. Since Peter and Miles both have a personal bond with the FEAST shelters, I think it would be a nice small accident for you to spend time on. FEAST volunteering: Quite a few FEAST volunteers have called in sick, so they ask you (Peter or Miles) if you want to help out. Once you’re there, you could do small tasks without wearing Spidey spandex. Maybe you can clean, help with cooking, bring people coffee, try and find someone’s lost item. If you want, you could perhaps even have some nice chats or play chess. Escort: Something like this was in the first game’s DLC. You’d help escort a police force or perhaps a prison transfer. But snipers can be spotted trying to interfere. Or perhaps enemies have set up a blockade. And there’s a limited time/health to make sure the people you’re escorting don’t get hurt. Freelance project: Maybe you could even get an email from some kind of company, or perhaps an individual who isn’t very techy. You could either do small science minigames to earn a bit of money, or help out perhaps an elderly person whose TV doesn’t work. I can imagine some of these ‘outside the mask’ events could be a bit tedious if you just want to swing around. Maybe you could disable these, if you want. But think it could be fun to play as Peter or Miles for a bit. Perhaps you could help someone out for his/her high school project. Power outage: A city block is without power. You could solve this slightly differently depending on which Spider-Man you’re playing as. Miles would have a bit of an advantage here, of course. Eavesdropping: I’m not sure how Spider-Manny this would be, but perhaps you could eavesdrop on bad guys and shady characters. Perhaps you could get asked to eavesdrop by a civilian who needs concrete evidence in a court case (one in which Spider-Man would feel it’s morally right to provide evidence for [helping out the little people]). I could imagine Miles’ invisibility to be useful here. Heist: Basically a bigger scale of this bank robbery/ATM idea of yours. Perhaps the enemies, in bigger numbers, would fight you, but once a lot of money has been retrieved and/or a lot of goons have been taken down, they’d flee with what they have. You could have multiple trucks/cars to chase. Maybe, if the other Spidey isn’t there, you could ask for his help, either in combat, or to have him blocking off an escape route or contesting a chokepoint. It would be cool to give your companion instructions and make decisions together. An example could be: Who’s going to make sure the civilians are okay and who’s going to start the chase? And then you could choose who does what. Perhaps it could be great to have strategic switching of the characters enabled in big crimes. Like in this crime. Reported terrorism: This could perhaps range from false alarm to enemies having placed down a explosives on many buildings. Perhaps these are spread out across the city. One Spider-Man could perhaps help shut the operation down in one place, as the other Spider-Man shuts down another explosive. And you could switch between the two, depending on who’s closer to the objective, or something. Burglary: A new form of small crime where a scared citizen is hiding at home and sends you his/her address. You need to get there as soon as possible and stop the (single) burglar(s) inside of the house. If you’re too slow, this might end up becoming a car chase, or an investigation that would lead to the perpetrator. The crime in this game only has theoretical variety. Of the 18 crimes, most of them are just beating up the enemy. Two are car chases with slightly different mechanics. There’s not much of a gameplay difference between assault and burglary. You just best up regular enemies. Some with hunter cargo or stakeouts, arson or branding attack, abduction or bus assault (you get the idea). They’re different in theory, but they’re really not different in actuality. Apart from putting out fires or destroying the VTOL or opening the bus after the crime has ended. They’re small differences that only make up about 10 seconds of the total crime, tops.
great video, exactly described my feeling from spending tens of hours in the post story open world. Great suggestions for crime improvement. I would actually cry from happiness if some of these were added in an update
I think it would be cool for mini bosses in the world if a villain escapes or smth. Yeah most of them got killed off but that’s a way to have a some smaller villains or returning villains return and add variety.
I do not comprehend the "this game was rushed" excuse. Even if you exclude the fact that miles morales wasn't even made by the main insomniac spider man team (barring a few exceptions), this game would have still had 4 years of development time, which is exactly what spider man 2018 had. Combine that with the fact that most of miles' animations were already finished from MM, and it just makes me think that insomniac were waaaay too overzealous with their capabilities after the success of the 1st game
I'd love to see crimes involving super villains after you finish the main story, like say you get an alert that Rhino has broken out of prison and is now rampaging through the streets. This could help you feel like the villains aren't just taking the L, they are still getting out of jail to cause mayhem, and it's continuously your job to take them out time and time again. This could also serve as a cool boss rematch system in the open world with the environment changing every time. And perhaps these would be the rare crimes that can't happen that often and perhaps here you could actually get the other Spider Man to help you cause it would actually be a big threat dealing with a super villain.
They should add B tier villains not involved with the story randomly popping up and performing bank heists or other crimes occasionally, kind of like a villain of the week mechanic, could have multiple sections depending on the crime and villain, like a chase sequence, mini-boss fight, stealth options, investigating crime scenes to track them down, etc... A lot of them have been killed off already so they'll have to pick some obscure ones, but I'm thinking things like the Shocker mission in the first game Also we need races! Race the other Spider-Man, or other heroes, like Johnny Storm in the Ultimate Spider-Man game (especially since Fisk Tower is now the Baxter Building), Iron Man, or basically anyone who would make sense to show up and would put up a fair fight They also need to add more random encounters with other heroes like with the other Spider-Man, Yuri, and Agent Venom in this game, for example Daredevil could be there if you're stopping a crime in Hell's Kitchen (more likely to appear at night)
So I thought of some villains they could use for this mechinc The wall Big wheel The looters Spot The living brain Big man Kangaroo Grizzly Plant man Leap frog Slide Video man Human fly
I agree with Everything on this video 10/10. As far as personal ideas, here some: •Web Shooters customisation: collectables lets you customise web shooters, improving the stats. Every type of enemy can now be webbed up with 2 shots, regardless of their size, and they stayed webbed up for double the time when web shooters are maxed out in upgrades. Also, "select web shot sound". Noticed how the web shooters sound much cooler in Stealth? You can now set the standard sound, in the gadget menu. Last but not least, you can increase the web shooters capacity and refill ratio to double the end game amount. •Custom Gadget Slots: All the Gadget from previous games are back, you can now assign them to each slot, mixing old and new gadgets. •Pro Swinging Mode : web swing with L2(left arm) for Buildings on your left, R2(Right Arm) for Buildings on your right. ( Maintain the current Web Swinging mechanic, + give players the choice to try "Pro Mode". Aiming swaps to L1, and slow motion Is disabled While aiming and shooting webs with R1 mid air. This allows the player to Aim and use the abilities with 1 button, increases realism and player immersion. •Parry Style : Bare Hands/Spider Arms/Symbiote. •Spider Arms:Enable/Disable •Web Climbing: While web swinging, i noticed the 🔲 button Is empty, as Pete/Miles are hanging on the web. I was thinking maybe we can bring back the "web climbing" animation during the swing. Simply put, you Jump from a Building, Press R2 to shoot a web, and as you hold R2 to hang on the web you can Also hold 🔲 to climb up the web and avoid hitting the ground.🙏🏻🕸️ •Suit Addition by personal favorite: Classic Red&Blue from the 90's animated series More Ideas on my Instagram, feel free to use them, i don't care about credits, all i want is to help insomniac improve Spider-Man games. Peace
Everybody hyped up having 2 spider-men as if it would be like GTA V but there is only ever 1 Spider-Man on the map unless there is a crime happening and you can’t interact in the open world. No races, no little talks, can’t see them just out and about maybe in their civilian clothing, no swinging alongside each other except for literally only 2 missions. Insomniac absolutely dropped the ball with this game
Absolutely true. You cant even encounter Peter in the open world at all if you're playing as Miles. Theres actually not a single part in the game where you fight alongside Peter. Plus i was expecting Tombstone and Mysterio to fight alongside in the open world.
I commented on a tik tok about how I liked the game but like the first one it misses a lot of oppurtunities. And some guy replied saying I should be grateful 😭 like bro is the reason we won’t ever get good game features
Fr. There aren’t any post game/non-story essential phone calls like there were in Miles Morales, Peter and Miles are only together for the beginning and endings, and there aren’t any activities for Peter to do nor are there like team activities (ie racing) for both Spider-Men to do. I appreciate storytelling but it can’t be the only selling point of a game. GTA has a good story but it also has a bunch of activities you can do.
I think it would be really cool if there were “fake” crimes, like it’s not that big of a problem for example someone calls you over and it’s just two people arguing who’s car bumped into who’s I think this would make the people of New York feel a bit more like people and we all know this kind of stuff happens all the time in real life
Rare event idea for high speed chase: a symbiote brute sees the chase going on and leaps onto the car, hitting it constantly trying to get to the criminals inside, this causes the criminals to panic and drive more frantically, which would slightly increase the chance of knocking over other cars for you to web up, your new objective for now would be to get to the car, and do a 2-part QTE to knock the symbiote off and stop the car, saving the criminals and freeing the symbiotes host
This game was insanely rushed. The story felt rushed the gameplay feels worse than the first game if you exclude the venom and symbiote powers, since there’s no more gadgets that are actually useful.
The gameplay? The same gameplay where you can wall kick barrage? Bounce people off the pavement? Use web ropes to pull people around? Parry? Special abilities like spider arms and symbiot? Web wings? Instant fast travel to any place in the map? Two new Burroughs? I’m gonna be honest I do agree the story is underwhelming but to say the gameplay is the same as the first game makes me feel like you didn’t even play the second game 💀
@@datboigeurmoc3626 not the same worse. The flow is worse. The stealth is literally laughably bad and so easy with the web lines, boss fights come down to parrying and repeating that through 3 phases. The symbiotes were damage sponges that could kill u in 3 hits but would die themselves in like 20. The gameplay was good but the only thing better than the first game was traversal.
@@datboigeurmoc3626 also gonna add that I loved doing random crimes in the first 2 games but in spiderman 2 whenever I saw a crime happening I literally groaned cause I knew it would take like 15 minutes just to do a generic ass encounter that gave me little to no materials to upgrade the Spider-Man’s with. Little details like that make the combat tedious and not fun despite all of those additions you just mentioned. The new combat moves are cool but inefficient since they are easily stopped by any enemies with ranged attacks. And there is no unique way to handle brutes u just gotta hit them 300 hundred times or spam ur special abilities.
@datboigeurmoc3626 my thing is wtf do people want? It has everything you would want mechanic and concept wise for this character and there's not much else you can add other than just tweaking and improving things which they did🤷🏿♂️

Talented developers is a bit over too much. What have they been doing all these 5 years, okay but what about 4 months, to release an update with debug menu in it. The amount of bugs and missing features is a no discussion.
@@HELLO_KORO the writers strike was specifically for movies and production my friend not necessarily video games and yeah it is considered how choppy the story is and missing gameplay features
Exactly what i was thinking man, also i wish they would add more immersive events such as •Web swing races with Miles •Grab a slice of pizza to eat •Maybe have events for peter to do around nyc, walk around/change into your suit in the alley I love Insomniac but I really was expecting them to fill this open world with more events. Open workd just felt too empty •Also maybe crimes indoors. Like inside midtown high. Would love to fight in there maybe in the basketball court/lockers. Would love to do the bouncing off the wall moves in there
Only having Miles to fight in the Mysterio challenges was a mistake!! They are the only missions where u instantly select on the map and you’re in a fight arena that you can replay over and over as you like!! Peter is just excluded from this !!
The reason why cops aren't present all that much in the game is far more sinister. You see, multiple news outlets called the first game "cop-ganda" due to Spiderman's close relationship with the police. So rather than ignore them, Insomniac complied with their demands (along with DEI requirements. Thanks Sweet Baby Inc.).
I haven’t finished the video yet but here’s some ideas I have for random villain encounters that could pop up: Have various encounters with trapster that require you to use logical thinking skills in a fun way (like Riddler from the Arkham Games but less annoying) Have captain boomerang randomly appear robbing banks Have various fun chase sequences with big wheel that have him crashing into buildings, cars and almost running over civilians and you have to prevent him from causing too much damage before you catch up to him, and if you miss a few accidents you will have to help clean them up after you catch him. Have molten man burning buildings randomly throughout the game-as the in game story progresses have him burn bigger buildings and you have less time to save everybody. Have hydroman utilize the vast aquatic areas of New York, throwing boats and destroying bridges There’s so much potential and since there may be 3 spider people in the next game then we need bigger threats that would require a companion system. Spider-Man doesn’t need to help stop robbery but he might need help stopping hydroman
Imagine if they made side quests like weekly drops, like imagine the yuri side quest came out weekly, or they add more side quests as the story progresses. Another thing they definitely should do is the monthly DLC like they did with the first game, intentionally leave some questions unanswered they could keep the game alive for 6 months or longer
I think every Open world game should do what rdr2 did and include an absolutely mind boggling amount of random encounters. Not crimes or accidents that show up as a way point but truly random events that happen just because you were there. I have never been bored riding around in rdr2 because the game has so many random encounters that i know there will be something to do. I think if Spiderman 2 had something pike that it would make the the game 10x more enjoyable.
Great Video. All these recommendations are spot on. I have a suggestion as well. Not only have random events & crimes but also have Spider-Man interact w/ the people he’s dedicated his life to protecting. Lets ride the rides at Coney Island other than the story and play against people, lets join an outdoor yoga class randomly, have Spider-Man commentate over a basketball game & be able to play chess w/ people in parks. But w/ that you need an expression world & insomniac’s pedestrians are all the same in each district w/ nothing to them. We need more people like Teo or Howard & have regulars around NYC that we can visit. Truly make us feel like a friend neighbor
The High Speed Chase crime has something I discovered, when failing to press square the game gives you one last chance to do a QTE by pressing circle and it ends with Spidey going in the car kicking the driver out and using the car door as a surfboard while stopping it. I'm not kidding I actually tested it out and it's the same animation from the Miles Morales game. Though I have a suggestion, since the Hunters have speedboats why not insert crimes by sea that way you can still do the vehicle takedowns like when the Hunters were chasing the Lizard in the East River, better yet have some crimes happening in the air, that way there's things to do in air, sea, and/or land. Oh here's another one remember Fisk thugs undercover ambushing you when interacting with civilians along with Li's corrupted in Act 2, why not do the same with thugs, hunters, and symbiotes, I mean in the mission Wake Up Miles is tricked by a hunter in disguise and sedated
This video is incredible!!! Your ideas are incredible!!! Genuinely SM2 is much less interesting to me compared to SM or SM:MM, because of the lackluster crime system. Having another Spider-Man to help out is cool and I like it when I jump into a crime and decide to leave it while it's in progress, the Spider-Man I am playing as says that the other one can handle it, but just this alone isn't enough. Here is another idea: Maybe in some cases when the crime is small, sure you can leave it to the other Spider-Man, but when the crime is something along the lines of a truck being on fire or a symbiote horde attacking civilans, there shouldn't be a reason for my Spider-Man to not intervene, so I think a punishment system like what they TRIED to do in TASM2 game could be introduced, but heavily improved upon of course! Your ideas are genuinely amazing!!! I know they could be hard to impement but this is a AAA studio we are talking about... At least half of these MUST be included in some capacity. And the best thing is, this will most definitely prolong the game play in the long run and have more people play the game for longer than just 100%-ing the game over and over again.
Something I've dreamed Insomniac would do in a future game is some supervillain events. I've admittedly played the first game way too much, but I remember being tired of just fighting supervillain factions/ goons. Some examples I thought of before SM2 came out was a Shocker bank robbery (just a simple boss fight), a Vulture chase (similar to the car chases but in the sky), or a Rhino rampage (similar to the opening of Miles Morales). They would be more rare just so that it isnt tiring, but it'd be a nice reminder that some of these villains aren't always out for murder. I understand that all these villains are dead now, but its the type of stuff that happens in the comics quite a bit and there are still a lot of supervillains unaccounted for (like Big Wheel)
I was actually really suprised the other day finding out that the hinters actually can ambush you setting up a fake yellow gear chest and jumping you when you open it. But in my 72h playing it only happened once so it really should be more often
another good hunter-related crime would be that while you’re swinging around the city, you’d suddenly encounter one of their blinds. The game made it clear that they can hide in plain sight with their camouflage/invisibility technology, so just imagine running into one of their hidden spots out of the blue while exploring. It would add a great element of surprise to the crime and keep you on your toes
20:46 - Imagine if we had more time between the Saving Tombstone and MJ Zoo missions where Harry is swinging around and finds Peter or Miles to try to beat you to the crime. Peter and Miles could react to beating him to the crime in a joking way, or chastise him for rushing into the crime. And imagine getting more optional tasks that are hard to beat. Like having to beat Peter to the crime as Miles, while Peter takes the easy straight path, you as Miles must make your own path there to beat him. When you do, you gain bonus XP and Peter’s respect.
Since a lot of villains are dead, I would like them to bring back those mechanics by giving those techs to random thugs. Maybe during a breakin someone pulls out Shocker's gauntlet or a whip made of Scorpion's tail or a tackler with Rhino's gear. They wouldn't be as strong but just a fun spin on usual brutes. For the delivery side missions, if it takes place during Christmas, a gift delivery truck crashes and now Spidey has to deliver gifts to random people.
this sounds pretty similar to the first games 3rd dlc, most of the normal enemies were kitted out with stolen sable tech, they take alot more hits and bring a bit of challenge.
Something I thought about is the near non-existent random encounters in the first Marvel's Spider-Man where you would talk with a civilian but he would turn out to be a undercover agent for Fisk and you would have to fight him. Implementing something like this into those more relaxed crimes like saving a kid's balloon or saving a crane operator but have it turn out to be a enemy faction ambushing you after saving them. Something like this happening out of a rare chance would keep these crimes interesting even after you have done them before seeing how you would be on your guard the entire time.
One thing that I liked about the first game is that when you just walked in the crowd, there was small chance you would find people trying to attack you. They weren't counted as crimes, and there was variety to them. Like, sometimes it's an undercover guy working for Fisk who is trying to catch you off guard, and sometimes it's a group of people who got infected by Mr. Negative and are trying to attack you.
Personally, the "Don't Be Scared" Mission was the best mission in the game, and the fact that is the only mission you get to play as venom sucks. Like, how cool would it be to play through these new missions not as Spider-Man, but as Venom!? New dialogue, new villains, new everything. Also, I think that some villains stories shouldn't have been concluded so quickly, like what if you were just swinging between side missions and the Lizard jumps out and attacks you, and you get these interactions said amount of times until the character is cured in the story. Same goes for Kraven, like he's always hunting you, and every corner might be met with his Helicopter or His goons ambushing you, or hear me out: Carnage. That's your gateway, have Carnage be a Jump-mission that carches you off-guard and you have to defeat infected civilians & criminals until a good amount have been defeated, let's say 25 or so in total, until Carnage leaves you an ominous note and you engage in a 1v1 combat at a certain location and, depending on how far you are to 100%-ing the game, the battle will be harder the further completed the game is. This battle is a reoccuring boss, and will reset on either defeat or victory. But, it's designed to beat you, until you reach 100% and the Final boss takes you on. With his defeat, the attacks will cease, and Carnage will crawl back into the shadows, but also leaving behind something for the player to use: The new symbiote type. With the Carnage moveset, Your attack will be unique, vicious, and downright evil. This is the Strongest suit in the game, and will even change Peter's dialogue if used in NG+. Going back to the Venom idea that you can free-roam as Venom, Carnage would be similar, but for both, you can *attack civilians.* YUP, FULL BAD GUY MOMENTS, EMBRACE THE DARKNESS LETS GOO. YOU KNOW THAT ONE NPC THAT ALWAYS BASHES ON SPIDERMAN FOR NO REASON!? TOSS HIM INTO THE LAKE, THROW HIM OFF A BUILDING, SLAM HIM INTO THE GROUND AT MAX VELOCITY, BITE HIM IN HALF!!!! ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE, *EVEN VIOLENCE.* (only end-game, sandbox, and NG+ and is not canonical.)
Here a idea there could be a rare chance a a group like the demons or Fisk guys even sable could break out and start doing shootouts with the cops, rob armored trucks, or fight other groups, have you find a hideout, and maybe find a boss like find task master spying on you
I played Spider-Man 2 from 2004 recently and I found some activities that could be added overall: Race trial: Peter and Miles compete to see who can complete an obstacle course the fastest similar to Miles AR challenges from his solo game. Time trials for Peter similar to the Mysteriums Crimes they could add from SM2 2004: Boat Rescue Gang War Gang shooting out with cops Hostage situation Saving people from a burning building Bomb squad Car jacking Saving a person from falling off a building Gang ambush Armored car robbery(but they have a getaway car) Robbing a bank Accident that requires getting the injured to a hospital
THIS! THIS is what I wanna see when people make a critique! Never make a criticism, unless you have a valid solution, and dear God, a valid solution this is, much love mukka, keep up the good work ❤
I personally think another way insomniac could possibly improve post game content, like everything presented in this video, would be more "villains of the week." In the first Spider-man game, they did great with Taskmaster and (semi-painstaking) Screwball, as they provided more stuff to do and improved the world building. C-D list Villains like Big Wheel, Jackal, Hydro man, Molten man and Swarm would be great as they pose a threat to NYC in ways that support your ideas. Building on fire: Molten Man was trying to flee from a crime scene but his powers are uncontrollable, causing a huge fire to breakout. You have a time limit to putting out the fire and so on (as stated in your video) Hydro man could be putting people in danger by the docs, making you chase him or gather clues to where he'd be next. this would use the car surfing mechanic a lot more and would possibly expand upon it (shooting webs when surfing) Big Wheel hijacked the ferris wheel and is running rampit in NYC. Now it's up to you and the other Spiderman to stop him. Swarm's bee's are lowering the population of pigeons in NYC, you have to catch and save them while tracking swarm. These are just a few ideas I thought would be possible and fun as a world-builder for the Spider-men had they added more obsucre villians
This things just make me appreciate Rockstar even more bro, ik insomniac and other studios really put effort in their games man but there’s really no point of comparison, sometimes it’s feels like they do the minimum, could be bc of deadlines that studios put tho
I think something that'd be cool would be like, random supervillain attacks? Nothing like some of the more popular villains, but maybe villains like Swarm or *_Big Wheel_* , with Swarm maybe having you chasing down a bunch of bees, finding him, doing a bit of fighting while avoiding being stung, and for *_Big Wheel_* it'd be like the car chases, just the car is a lot bigger and more destructive.
Someone said one time that they could spice up car chases by adding more variety to how you could catch them. Like maybe shooting a web net in their path. They could turn and try to avoid it for extra challenge. Or maybe have something to where you can fling them into a spider web in the air. I don’t know, anything than what’s usually done would be cool
Hell yea Crimes should be randomly generated from a Pool of things small to medium that can happen and add a C or D list super villain robbing a bank/store/company every now and then. Would be nice if they would be good enough to play around with after you finished the game
Not having jetski or boat chase crimes like in the lizard mission was kind of a missed opportunity, wouldve spiced things up a little.

They would hav to pick an obscure one, since a lot of them are dead

@SensationalSK Yes, that happend in Spider-Man: Miles Morales not the first game

No u mean in ultimate Spider-Man
Unfortunately some game articles called Marvel's Spider-man 1 pro-cop and copaganda.
Cops are supposed to be good 😂😂 🤷🏾♀️

All the side missions, feel like something spider man would help out with, finding lost toys, helping a crane worker, helping a building cleaner, helping a car out of the snow, and the crimes were even better, you could help an enemy in a rogue copter, finding enemys who are messing with a board. I’d like as you said lower crimes like purse snatching, but does anyone remember in the first game how random npcs from Fisks gang or corrupted students would jump you when you weren’t swinging? Fr like an occasional Fisk agent or like a random side mission u just randomly find
Imagine Having to stop a Prison break at Rykers or Raft as a crime activity
I actually love a lot of these ideas for random crimes and events. Especially the balloon idea like imagine every time you return a balloon there’s a small cutscene where Spider-Man signs the balloon or draws something on it. And there could be a few different designs and words he could draw on there each encounter.
What if after a certain amount of “balloon rescues “the city throws you a festival of ballons where people just let go of a lot of balloons so for a few hours in game the sky could be filled with colors

Marvel spiderman 2 is just a much better amazing spideman 2 however there are things tasm 2 did better
The morality system was awful to support your point. But to support your point, every single decision about the open world in web of shadows trumps anything that this game tries to do in its third act. This game was rushed and their design philosophy is the golden mission path only, they do not care at all about the open world because they probably analyse how it doesn’t affect sales

in Spider-Man 1, the demons, prisoners, and sable agents go away after like five encounters each and only leaving thugs around
Lesser-villain subplots. Series of villain themed crimes that build to a one off boss fight with some wacky back-catalog villain.
Boomerang would be good
big wheel 🔥🔥
The wall would be 🔥
Yes! The problem is that they burnt through SO many well known villains in the past three games and KILLED most of the rouges gallery off screen to make Kraven look more like a threat. 🤦🏿♂️ INCREDIBLY wasted potential
Walrus would be tufffff 🗣

Who’s going to tell him about Howard
😢😢 he has no idea
Some more ideas I’d like:
Prisoner escape: I’ve seen this one get requested a lot, but it’s basically a small/medium Spider-Man villain escaping prison ans you need to stop him.
Blows my mind how much of a step back this game took. The best thing about this game was the web swinging
could not agree more
Makes me wonder wtf they were cooking up for 5 years
@@DOWNTOWNMAK You clearly missed all details this game features.
@@mohdsalmand1385fuck all the details bro. Where are all the side missions and crime at?
@@mohdsalmand1385 what details? Outside of web swinging, the game plays virtually the same, and is sometimes worse than its predecessors
I liked it when at a point in the first game a civilian would be a demon and you have to do a take down
great video, exactly described my feeling from spending tens of hours in the post story open world.
A lot of them have been killed off already so they'll have to pick some obscure ones, but I'm thinking things like the Shocker mission in the first game
Also we need races! Race the other Spider-Man, or other heroes, like Johnny Storm in the Ultimate Spider-Man game (especially since Fisk Tower is now the Baxter Building), Iron Man, or basically anyone who would make sense to show up and would put up a fair fight
They also need to add more random encounters with other heroes like with the other Spider-Man, Yuri, and Agent Venom in this game, for example Daredevil could be there if you're stopping a crime in Hell's Kitchen (more likely to appear at night)
So I thought of some villains they could use for this mechinc
The wall
Big wheel
The looters
Spot
The living brain
Big man
Kangaroo
Grizzly
Plant man
Leap frog
Slide
Video man
Human fly
I agree with Everything on this video 10/10. As far as personal ideas, here some:
•Web Shooters customisation: collectables lets you customise web shooters, improving the stats.
•Spider Arms:Enable/Disable
•Web Climbing: While web swinging, i noticed the 🔲 button Is empty, as Pete/Miles are hanging on the web. I was thinking maybe we can bring back the "web climbing" animation during the swing. Simply put, you Jump from a Building, Press R2 to shoot a web, and as you hold R2 to hang on the web you can Also hold 🔲 to climb up the web and avoid hitting the ground.🙏🏻🕸️
•Suit Addition by personal favorite: Classic Red&Blue from the 90's animated series
More Ideas on my Instagram, feel free to use them, i don't care about credits, all i want is to help insomniac improve Spider-Man games.
Big facts bro
GTA has a good story but it also has a bunch of activities you can do.
you can't even switch characters in missions like GTA, I wanted this feature so bad...
I think it would be really cool if there were “fake” crimes, like it’s not that big of a problem for example someone calls you over and it’s just two people arguing who’s car bumped into who’s I think this would make the people of New York feel a bit more like people and we all know this kind of stuff happens all the time in real life
and so the cracks start to show once again
Patrolling the city After completion was the best in both previous titles. Great video
imagine having to save everyone from a burning building then having to stabilize it before it collapses😳
It has everything you would want mechanic and concept wise for this character and there's not much else you can add other than just tweaking and improving things which they did🤷🏿♂️
my thing is wtf do people want? It has everything you would want mechanic and concept wise for this character and there's not much else you can add other than just tweaking and improving things which they did🤷🏿♂️
These are really really good ideas that would add so much to the game
yeah the howard pigeon thing isnt gonna work unfortunately😭😭
Thanks for linking Darkspace and Colin in the description, makes it easy to find their videos as well
Very creative ideas, would love to see some of them get implemented in the next installment
The Music in the background goes perfectly with this video. Soothing my Guy.
Great content
Talented developers is a bit over too much. What have they been doing all these 5 years, okay but what about 4 months, to release an update with debug menu in it. The amount of bugs and missing features is a no discussion.
Wow the intro was exactly what happened to me until NG+
This guy made the most valid points i ever heard
Can’t forget how the moves feel super obsolete it’s like insomniac didn’t even try for the moves to feel satisfying at all
Man this is so true. I really think Sony rushed this bruh
No, it's just terrible excuses to me.
They did it’s clear in the story and the simple things like simple gameplay mechanics not being in the game
Anyone else think miles morales was supposed to be apart of sm2?
I don't think it's rushed, they got beat by the writers strike
@@HELLO_KORO the writers strike was specifically for movies and production my friend not necessarily video games and yeah it is considered how choppy the story is and missing gameplay features
Exactly what i was thinking man, also i wish they would add more immersive events such as
•Web swing races with Miles
•Grab a slice of pizza to eat
•Maybe have events for peter to do around nyc, walk around/change into your suit in the alley
I love Insomniac but I really was expecting them to fill this open world with more events. Open workd just felt too empty
•Also maybe crimes indoors. Like inside midtown high. Would love to fight in there maybe in the basketball court/lockers. Would love to do the bouncing off the wall moves in there
The open world wasn’t boring. I can easily pend hours swinging around in the world looking for cool spots to use photo mode.
I haven’t finished the video yet but here’s some ideas I have for random villain encounters that could pop up:
Have various encounters with trapster that require you to use logical thinking skills in a fun way (like Riddler from the Arkham Games but less annoying)
Have captain boomerang randomly appear robbing banks
Have various fun chase sequences with big wheel that have him crashing into buildings, cars and almost running over civilians and you have to prevent him from causing too much damage before you catch up to him, and if you miss a few accidents you will have to help clean them up after you catch him.
Have molten man burning buildings randomly throughout the game-as the in game story progresses have him burn bigger buildings and you have less time to save everybody.
Have hydroman utilize the vast aquatic areas of New York, throwing boats and destroying bridges
There’s so much potential and since there may be 3 spider people in the next game then we need bigger threats that would require a companion system.
Great video bro! The editing and presentation of everything is great! New sub 🔥
I love the ideas in this video, insomniac should definitely implement these
Great Video. Truly make us feel like a friend neighbor
the narration at the begining is a perfect 1:1 to my experience thats insane. even rolling the credits two days after release
I have never agreed with a video more! Great work!!
2:53 Behomothd are cool if you fight him in surge and just spam punches and Moves than you can also hit Him with finishers
19:00 the hunters do sometimes ambush you on specific rooftops where they plant a rare tech parts chest and when you try to open it they ambush you.
Same goes for Kraven, like he's always hunting you, and every corner might be met with his Helicopter or His goons ambushing you, or hear me out:
Carnage.
I love every single idea that you put on the table
Pizza delivery and the balloon are so iconic. I'll be surprised if they never included them in the upcoming game/DLC.
Here a idea there could be a rare chance a a group like the demons or Fisk guys even sable could break out and start doing shootouts with the cops, rob armored trucks, or fight other groups, have you find a hideout, and maybe find a boss like find task master spying on you
I played Spider-Man 2 from 2004 recently and I found some activities that could be added overall:
Race trial: Peter and Miles compete to see who can complete an obstacle course the fastest similar to Miles AR challenges from his solo game.
Time trials for Peter similar to the Mysteriums
Crimes they could add from SM2 2004:
Boat Rescue
Gang War
Gang shooting out with cops
Hostage situation
Saving people from a burning building
Bomb squad
Car jacking
Saving a person from falling off a building
Gang ambush
Armored car robbery(but they have a getaway car)
Robbing a bank
Accident that requires getting the injured to a hospital
THIS! THIS is what I wanna see when people make a critique! Never make a criticism, unless you have a valid solution, and dear God, a valid solution this is, much love mukka, keep up the good work ❤
In the comics some times he helps criminals because they're being misunderstood adding this would be good too.
You have a time limit to putting out the fire and so on (as stated in your video)
Hydro man could be putting people in danger by the docs, making you chase him or gather clues to where he'd be next. this would use the car surfing mechanic a lot more and would possibly expand upon it (shooting webs when surfing)
Big Wheel hijacked the ferris wheel and is running rampit in NYC.
It’s mainly budget and deadline differences tbh
I think something that'd be cool would be like, random supervillain attacks? Nothing like some of the more popular villains, but maybe villains like Swarm or *_Big Wheel_* , with Swarm maybe having you chasing down a bunch of bees, finding him, doing a bit of fighting while avoiding being stung, and for *_Big Wheel_* it'd be like the car chases, just the car is a lot bigger and more destructive.
Sensacional. Ainda não chegamos lá, mas como desejamos que o homem aranha tenha um novo jogo assim.
This video is spectacular!! All the crime ideas are perfect and I'd love to actually see them , someone needs to show insomniac this video rn!!!!
