No one calls the arm attached to the bridge of a guitar a vibrato arm... and the original comment was about how using that arm ruins the tuning on his guitar, not about the pedal, so I think we can allow the use of ‘tremolo’ in that context. (TBH ‘swells’ normally refers to volume too, but there you go. 😉)
Honestly, you make the best reviews. Your playing and riffs sound and are amazing, the straight forward reviews and noticeable differences and then this. I've never seen how this sound was made, it blows my mind.
Love your video's man, best pedal demos out there on youtube bar none. To me, the winner for reverse reverb is the digitech digi-verb. Mostly because you can find them for around 50 bucks or cheaper on Reverb. It's a great budget friendly way to dip your toe into Shoegaze land and honestly for what you pay for it's kind of awesome.
That's very nice to hear, thank you. You're right about the Digiverb - it's so good for so little money. I think I was put onto it by some 'how to do shoegaze' video and the guy wasn't wrong.
I need to get that whammy pedal, so cool. I have the Canyon and it's incredible. Tons of classic delay sounds in one pedal. I'm about to make my own Fuzz War clone. 😈 Nice MBV chords!
I remember everyone and ther dog shitting on those digitech pedals [the digi-verb, the delay...].... now everyone wants them. Oh, and DOD pedals. Those were hated beyond reason because they weren't Boss.
@@ThePedalBored oh yes, the rubberneck is a great delay. I have a couple of the old DOD pedals and some Digitech ones (the digi delay being one of them). My favorite Boss is the RE20.
I had both the keely loomer and the realizer . I found that i liked the loomer better eaven though i never used the fuzz on it . The realizer seem like it didnt have the full 100% wet function as the loomer . There is a switch in the back for full wet to dry . I mess with it and could not get it to sound like the loomer did.
A little question out of the video... Why do you change between the EHX 720 and the Ammoon Stereo Looper in your videos? You notice much difference between them? Amazing work with all your videos. By far the best comparisons in all the internet.
Ah. This may be my mistake. I annoyingly don't have the pedal anymore - sold it - so when I was editing I had to go from memory, but I think you're right. Yet somehow it still manages to sound better than the Polara...
Mine was specially made for me by someone at Keeley (I can't remember who, annoyingly!) because I sent the one I had in for repair and it went missing. (I sold it in the end, and kept the Loomer instead which has the same reverse reverb, because I have excellent Plate and Hall reverbs on my MXR R300.)
@@ThePedalBored so the nocturner is really the same Reverse Reverb as Loomer? Asking as on the website they say it is a dark sounding reverb and was unsure if that means that they changed the tone.
From my limited knowledge, I think treble boosters really need to run into a tube amp that's got plenty of volume. I'm not sure my home-volume Boss Katana would do them justice unfortunately
Awesome video! I've not owned or played any of the Keeley pedals but I think the Realizer is the reverbs from the Loomer and not the Nocturne. I run a digiverb into my fuzz and distortions and then have an alterego into another reverb after:)
The first Keeley reverse reverb was in a pedal called the Sojourner - shoegaze-in-a-box that combined four reverbs and a Psi fuzz (Keeley's Big Muff). That pedal was discontinued, but the reverb half of it ended up in the Nocturner. The Nocturner was discontinued, but when Keeley developed the Loomer (three reverbs and a Psi Fuzz) they took the reverse reverb algorithm from the Nocturner and used it. Finally, they decided to release just the reverb half of the Loomer as the Realizer. So they all kind of had the same reverse reverb in, based on those '90s Yamaha and Alesis rack reverbs so popular with MBV.
Dude I run my loomer with the fuzz off almost always into the keeley phat mod od and it sounds the best to me. Though the loomer alone sounds pretty much dead on for loveless. For older style mbv just the reverb side does a Ride, MBV, Slowdive switch in terms of reverb clean styles. For never really clipped stuff on MBV album I run the loomer reverse verb on only into the Fuzz Factory or any compressed/bias optioned fuzz would work.
DBA is great but for mbv clean and dirty just get a loomer pedal. It’s sick. I run the reverse into my other fuzzes and the Super Phat Mod and it sounds insane
Great comparison, do you think that the canyon reverse delay setting can stand against one of the reverse reverb of this video for a shoegaze setting ?
@@ThePedalBored thanks for the reply, I was looking for a reverse reverb, but then I discovered that video, and the sound of canyon was very close to MBV kind of sounds;I wonder if it can be achieved with the multi-tap setting like on the memory man hazarai
Roy Tele not tried that pedal so I can't advise, but I think actual '90s reverse reverb units used an element of reverse delay to create the sound anyway.
@@jugalgogoi9113 ruclips.net/video/TKcBi45exAk/видео.html an example. gated mode always is the best at full volume in this rv7 or digiverb, i never like the reverse, for sure

i love the use of the ricochet in this. definitely adds something different! & that fuzz 🖤
I would love a similar demo for clean sound!
Sadly I only own a couple of these pedals now - shot this video a while ago.
Yeah the fuzz kind of nullified any other effect. Not a bad tune to listen to while reading the written information though...
Wow I love the use of that Digitech Whammy, I love using tremolo swells but it jacks up my tuning so quick. Sick solution
Technically yes, but Fender has always called it a tremolo.

absolutely adore soon by mbv thank you so much! love from dublin ireland
From what i've heard, those sounded really good because of the definition through the fuzz effect:
1º RV-7 Hardwire
2º Holy Max
3º Grand Canyon
This is the first of your videos that I've seen and there are only two things I can say, 1) Thank you and 2) +1 Subscriber

The Rv-7 has a trails switch under the battery compartment. It activates a buffer, which is required for trails.
I love the reverse reverb on the Nocturner. I scored Keely's #1 from this pedal run and haven't looked back.

Great video! To my ears the electro-harmonix pedals sounded great! And obviously the value on the EH stuff can't be matched.
They're so cheap and yet great quality!
Killer stuff dude I love your content, especially all the pedal stacking absolutely lovely!
Thanks! This one was especially fun (and slightly pointless) but I've loved MBV since I was a student.

YES,just what i need it to see! best pedal channel
Great video! You should try Red Panda Particle, there is great reverse delay (imo best)
I added that one to my arsenal right now.
I have one it's great for glitches and ambience, but i didn't manage to make it sound good for shoegaze sounds.
Do you know anything about the reverse reverb on the Oceans 11? Wet/Dry would it work for the MBV sound? Awesome video!
Jason Smith it works very well for the mbv style that’s what I currently use
What's the explaination for the weird horn-honking artifacts some of the pedals generated?
Never heard of the Nocturner. Keeley is really kind of milking that reverse algorithm, they put it in 4 different pedals
This is awesome, would love to see a video on treble booster pedals. Any internet searches just yield bad reviews of bad copies

When it goes deeper and grittier for a second, is that the whammy ricochet doing it or something they're playing?
Sweet!
I wish I saw this before I got the Polara. The reverse is so weird. I just wanted stereo and the other reverbs on it sound pretty great.

How do you have your riccochet set up?
Shoegaze all the way
