- It’s fair to say that driving standards in the new Assetto Corsa LFM races haven’t been brilliant. Racing has been entertaining, but there has been A LOT of crashing!
It’s not a criticism. AC is a new sim on Low Fuel Motorsport, attracting lots of first-time racers in a rookie Mazda MX-5 Cup series. You have to expect it to be a bit rough at times!
However, I’m pleased to report there are some excellent races to be found. Today’s battle at Mugello showcases the new AC LFM collaboration at its finest. Enjoy!

I am so sorry for bumping you at T1, it was one of my first races with the MX5 so i still haven't found the limits of the car yet. It was fun racing you mate and you did very well.

Great race. Sim racing is so much more fun when you get in races with clean and respectable drivers. It makes for such a good time for everyone. Just wish more people drove like the boys did in this one. Although out of the 4 races I have had the chance to do 3 were pretty clean. It helps a lot when the sim itself actually responds well to driver inputs too. Good video and good run Chris. :)
That’s exactly it. Over the first few laps, I soon realised that the guys around me were very smooth and safe, which then gives me the confidence to race harder and closer to them. Which results in a much better race! Well happy with this one. I didn’t show any more highlights from the first race, but honestly, it was a disaster zone 🤣
Faaaaaantastic, as Sir Murray Walker might have said. Much more like it in terms of great racing on AC and LFM. Really enjoyable watch kidda and encouraging for driving standards too!
Cheers Ben, yeah I was beginning to fear that the AC LFM combo may become a place for non-stop carnage after last week’s races, and from what I’ve seen on other channels. But this was definitely a welcome return to great racing. It’s the most I’ve felt like being in a ‘real’ race for a long long time
Had some of the best races I've ever had in AC LFM. Did one on Mugello the other night where I beat the guy in 2nd by 0.055 seconds, and the guy in 3rd by 0.3 seconds. Was hard racing the whole time and we all managed to completely avoid any contact.
Awesome mate, it’s amazing how close the racing has been here, considering how long a lap it is at Mugello. Can’t wait for next week’s action!

AC on LFM is the best thing that happened to sim racing this year. By the way, if you have an H shifter and a clutch pedal, driving the Mazdas becomes even more fun. Give it a try if you can
Ahhh yeah I bet it is! I would love an H shifter (I drive Euro Truck Simulator sometimes and that feels mega weird with paddle shifters!) So it’s on my sim shopping list!
@@chrisrogerssimracing I just got the Thrustmaster TH8S a few weeks ago. It’s probably the cheapest option and it works very well

@@chrisrogerssimracing if you don't race on consoles, the SHH NEWT2 shifter from Spain is a solid choice for about 100e. It has an easy switch from sequential to H pattern. I got it a month ago and it is pretty solid.
Great racing! LFMon Assetto Corsa has been a dream so far. Lots of new people getting into sim racing can only be a good thing in the long term too!
Hello mate, good to hear from you. Yeah exactly that… I always try not to get too downhearted when there’s a catastrophe in a rookies race, because it’s all a learning ground. The participation for these early AC LFM races is insanely good, so the more new drivers coming on, the better! Cheers

Pro tip, you get more out of this car with a nice stiff brake pedal, it helps nail the weight transfer.

I definitely recommend it, Andy. There can be some carnage, as you’d expect from a rookie series (the rest of that first race was a disaster zone!). But there is some great racing to be had as well.

Thanks for the tip, I’ll give it a run out! It’s the first time I’ve ever raced Mugello in a sim… love it! It was always a favourite of mine when I played the MotoGP games, so it’s great to finally have a chance to race it in a sim.
Quick tip. If you are using paddles with the mx5 you can go into assists before joining the drrver and turn on auto clitch and auto blip which will get rid of red lining between shifts and losing control while downshifting.😁
Oh mate, thanks for this, nice one! I’ve found it a real struggle to change gears smoothly. And spinning on a downshift is so easy, particularly down into 3rd or 2nd. I’ll give it a try!

Thank you mate, yeah it soon became clear that the guys around me were pretty safe, so that gave me much more confidence to battle closely with them. Overtaking in these cars is really tough, you have to pick your spot wisely and work really hard for it. Cheers!

Haha yeah so did I! Just that mini gravel excursion on the last lap that thwarted it. I really fancied getting past that lad in front on the last lap, up until that moment.

A very enjoyable race to watch, Chris. I'm anxious to join everyone on AC on LFM, but I'm having a real hard time getting things to work properly. Grr. I never had trouble with AC before, but there seems to be some sort of bug in Content Manager that's rendering my G920 useless. Hope to see you there soon though. Keep up the good work!
Sorry to hear that Dave, that’s very annoying. I wonder if it’s a common problem? Certainly must be a recent problem… the last time I ran AC regularly was when I was still on my G920, and it ran fine with Content Manager. Hope you get to the bottom of it.

@@chrisrogerssimracingAbsolutely! It can be tough finding good, clean races with any online lobby, LFM included. I'm jealous of the progress you've made, and how well you can drive and competitive you can be. I was glad that my league GT4 race last week was one of my best and cleanest ever! 40 minutes at Brands Hatch, and not a single contact with anther car, and only one lap was invalid due to a bit of grass on a corner exit. Even managed to finish 3rd in Silver class (17th overall out of 31.)
@@ericjack3218 Great result! Brands Hatch is a fantastic race track when you’re battling clean drivers. If the guys around you are a bit reckless, though, it can be lethal!

ive been having great racing as well! i do think they need to reduce the points lost (SR/ELO) with AC. AC seems to be more forgiving when contact is made.
Yeah, from my experience so far in these Mazdas, touching the kerb is far more dangerous than touching another car!
This was more enjoyable than real mazda mx5 racing.

Not spending another $ on Iracing with all the other options now. Especially since AC has great graphic, car models, FFB and customization.
Yeah, I’ve got really high hopes for it. I know some of the races have been pretty bad in terms of racecraft, but it’s always going to be the case with a new rookie series. If I can get a race like this one, I’m happy to put up with a few disastrous ones 🤣

Yeah man, I joined WSS a while ago when I was looking for AC races. My problem is, I usually can only race in the mornings or daytimes when participation is lower. So LFM is always quite handy for me, getting full grids at usually quiet times. I’ll check the race calendars again though 😃

My 1st race was a disaster 😢
Raced again last night and it was better. The normal expectations for Rookies. Just wanted to survive and finish. Had some great battles along the way.
Is your relative box inside of AC? I really need it 😊
Yes mate, the relative box is called RealTime - it’s in among the default apps on the right hand side menu. Just switch it on and you can position it wherever you want 👍
Great race when there isnt much replays to play.
What's up with the replays? It looks as if they were recorded at a different time of day? The race looks like it took place around noon, but in the replays it looks like it's in the evening with the cars casting long shadows.
Yeah, good spot! It’s an issue with Sol and the Custom Shaders Patch… saved replays load at a different time of the day (or in the case of a race I did last week, the replay was in pitch black darkness, despite it being a midday race!) It’s really annoying for content creation, and I haven’t found any solution online to fix it.

@@stefanroseEP3 Think I was around the low 2.10s at Mugello. I don’t use any setups, I just run with the default… I only get online for an hour or two a week, so I don’t really get time to test setups. Just arrive and drive!

is there anyway to move the cut warning sign? i cant seem to move it
I couldn’t move it either, and it really bugged me! A friend told me this afternoon that you can move it by using the Real Penalty Config app… I’ve not tried it yet, but will give it a go next time I open AC 👍

Do you use a shifter or paddles? I use a shifter and notice significant speed reduction changing gears compared to others. Sort of unfair that i have to unplug my shifter to be competitive
Yeah I just use the paddle shifters on my wheel, and auto-blip. I don’t have a shifter, so can’t compare. I know there are cars about that are much faster with a shifter (NSU in RaceRoom is a great example). Mazda in iRacing used to be too, until they updated it with a sequential shifter. Maybe they’re the same in AC.
Hey man new to this. Question, do I need clutch when changing gear on this car specifically with the mods applied on LFM? I blip when I down shift,sometimes gear go in sometimes not. I need to do it several times. SAME With up shift.
I practiced with AI off line and I dont encounter this issue. Does this has something to do with the SOL MOD?
Hey, so I don’t use a clutch. In the settings, I’ve enabled the auto-blip feature so it does it for me when you shift 👍
hey whats up man, what do you for this relative and radar overlay?
It’s pretty much the standard HUD apps… RealTime bottom left, Tyres bottom right. Then Performance Delta and Race Position up top. The radar is an app called Helicorsa which I downloaded from Race Department 👍

apologies to anyone who see's me making a mess in practice or in a race , i'm one of the newbies with minimal racecraft and delusions of being quick 🤣 will keep at it though, LFM just put the fun back into AC for me now i can race propoerly (or try to anyway) . Really enjoyed this since LFM came onboard ! No more F1 23 or ACC for me right now , this is all i need on AC
Haha that’s great to hear. The only way you learn racecraft is by racing, and this is the perfect platform! I’ve been doing this 3 years and I still learn from pretty much every race. AC on LFM is really encouraging… I haven’t raced another sim for 2 weeks now 🤣
