    Hey JP, Fish-N-Fool here. Good job showing how to tie my knot. I created this knot about 40 years ago. The one thing you missed is not saying anything about not letting the lines cross on the hook eye. This is not super important when tying braided line, but it is critical when tying mono or fluoro that the lines say parallel on the hook eye. By the way this knot tested at above 100% in all line types. I have some info from the original knot wars on knot strength I can share, if you are interested.

    Thank you for showing this knot and explaining it is good for all types of fishing lines not just braid.

    Always used the Palomar before. An old man showed me the Palomar 30+ years ago on the Commercial Blvd. Pier in Ft. Lauerdale about 3am one morning after i had an arguement with my wife, and the old guy couldn't sleep, and we both found ourselves at the pier to toss a line in instead. He was about 85 and I was 20, and I soaked up a ton of info as he was obviously happy to share. Learned a lot about fishing and marriage from that old guy that night.
    That said, I find the Fish N Fool to be an excellent knot, and use it exclusively, except for when its dark out and I can't see. Then, I do the Palomar because I don't need to see to do it.

    Have you tried the Berkly Braid knot? It beat the fish n fool knot in knot wars years ago and that is a knot I've used a lot since watching that knot wars episode many years ago.

    • @JPDeRoseOutdoors
      @JPDeRoseOutdoors  10 месяцев назад +2

      The Berkley Braid knots is a better fluoro knot but the Fish N Fool is the king of Braid and Mono. As a whole package I chose this one.

      @@JPDeRoseOutdoors Plus those test were skewed so the Berkley Braid knot would win. If you remember the show was sponsored by Berkley and used their machines to do the testing. They put up a 10 wrap Berkley braid knot against a 5 wrap Fish-N-Fool Knot, If both have the same number of wraps the Fish-N-Fool knot is still stronger.

    It all varies from string to string. Stretchy, waxy, stiff, smooth all can change the knot required.

    Fish n fool works because the hang knot into a double twist so the line distribution of force is not as focused into one section of the line as a palomar.

    What is the strongest loop knot?

    • @JPDeRoseOutdoors
      @JPDeRoseOutdoors  10 месяцев назад

      I’ve never tested loop knots, I have used the Rapala Loop Knot and the perfection loop for years but deep down inside, I feel like they aren’t as strong. Maybe I’m just crazy! 😜

    • @FishNFoolLures
      @FishNFoolLures 8 месяцев назад

      No loop knot is as strong at a good knot like the Fish-N-Fool, but the perfection loop is the strongest of them all. It's very hard to tie a larger lure on with it though.

    This is a great simple knot. I've found if you keep that first loop after you went through the hook twice, now keep that long and wrap the whole thing with the tagline 5-7 times then finish by puting the tag through the loop and pull. You get the double connection to the hook, but you don't strangle the top by closing the loop. It's a reverse snell which only tightens as it's pulled, instead of pulling on the tag like that one.
