    Just in case you didn't know, SMD D'Amore Engineering tools are VERY accurate. The AMM-1 has been out for over 10 years and is a favorite of many including myself for a reason. The DD-1 is Patented and have almost sold 30,000 units! That is NOT including all the DD-1 HV, DD-1+, CC-1, IMSG and any of the LED meters. We ONLY want to make products we know you will love because we love them too! All of the tools are available everywhere but they always sell out fast. Get yours while you can. Autographed units are available only at www.wccaraudio.com Thanks for watching if you did!

      Steve can you please explain to me how the SMD tool helps to set your gains (forgive me kinda new to car audio but have been wanting to buy one for a while now) so to my knowledge/understanding if you use the SMD DD1 then it sets your gains to not clip at 40hz one specific frequency so when I play a song that has a myriad of freqs how can I be sure that they're all going to be clean and not just the 40hz that it was set to? Is it just once it is set to 40hz then the rest will also be unclipped or how does that work honestly I do not know and wanted to ask before I spend the money...

    • @meade916
      @meade916  19 дней назад +1

      @@kevinAuman1 this tool isn't for setting gains. The DD-1 and DD-1+ is what you would use for that. As for the frequency used, that dont really matter. It's a reference point to set the gains. You couldn't possibly set the gains with the millions of frequencies that happen during music anyway.

    The results of the Parker the Basshead video was pretty wild. I would like to see him do what you did. Use a clamp and scopemeter to use ohms law to show the accuracy of both meters. This would also show if the cheaper watt meter accurately detected clipping. I'm not sure how much electronics Parker knows, though. I use Fluke products every day at work. If the AMM-1 has the accuracy of a Fluke clamp meter, that would explain the high cost of the meter.

      @TRONMAGNUM2099 I have the bass head garage meter and I never thought it was accurate to start with . I barely see 800 watts on my dd audio 9510L rated at 2500 rms and the woofer wants to come out the box I almost feel like im about to blow it . I thought I was just putting 800 watts to it . But now that I seen that video I'm probably pushing triple that to the woofer . Kinda want to get a amm1 .

      there are other ways to do things that are a little cheaper. For example, learn how to set gains with an O-scope. But unlike 99.999% of the people on youtube, set the gains with the o-scope properly. It's basically the same technique the original dd-1 uses. Get good at it. Understand it. Then someday treat yourself to one of these. The DD-1 especially the DD-1+ is by far the best way to set gains but learning the fundamentals with a scope first will help you appreciate our tools so much more.

    You are covering up the real problems and flaws with this kind of videos... The real issue isn't with voltage or current measurements, but with the wattage calculation, especially when dealing with Brazilian amplifiers. Latest Subs & Paws video is excellent example.. 210A x 9V at DC input of the amplifier = 3800w+ at amplifier output.. yeah right..

It sounded louder when they ran it the 2nd time but regardless, if anything maybe there is some voltage spike happening and the AMM-1 is catching it. Those aren't the cleanest amps to begin with. Maybe Ill buy that same 3000 watt amp and test it myself and then forward it to my engineers and have them take a look as well using their Audio Precision. @lunam7249 yes, I did state a fact when I said you have never done anything except run your troll fingers across a keyboard. As far as the tools, I let them do the talking. You can clearly see on video what is happening. Now go back to your life of doing absolutely nothing. Normal people are at work right now. You should fill out a few job applications.

      @lunam7249 I just did. You can SEE the clamp and the AMM-1 both in this video. You have to be on some new drug. Maybe horse tranqualizer. Ph.D, EE, P.E. hahahahahah more like SMH.

    The only real issue with the AAM1 is that it was reading way more power when it started to clip than the cheaper one... You never demonstrated that in this video.... I am not trying to be an ass or anything but that was the only real difference between the two...

      when an amp gets clipped hard it can easily put out as much as double it's rated power. That is one of the first things you learn when you start playing with car audio and amps. That is why clipping is bad. I am glad I was able to address your only real issue. We should be good now. :)

      I pulled this up to save you some time and since it was the first thing that came up. Please do some more research. "Clipping is a form of waveform distortion that occurs when an amplifier is overdriven and attempts to deliver an output voltage or current beyond its maximum capability. Driving an amplifier into clipping may cause it to output power in excess of its power rating."

      @@meade916 Honest question, so would you say the meter is as accurate as the amm-1 before clipping? If you follow Steve's instructions to run a sub amp without clipping that a 90$ meter that's mountable in a build is a option?

      How did you conclude the SMD is the correct meter? I did not see an oscope in either Parker's video or this one to measure actual distortion. So, in the case of both dynos, we are relying on the device to measure clipping accurately. If one dyno registers 1% THD at an actual THD of 1%, and the other registers an actual 1% THD at 0.5% or 1.5% THD, the results will be skewed dramatically. We need to know the actual THD of the amp as measured by the oscope. Then, we need to compare that to both dynos when they claim 1% THD.
