      I think that statement could be applied universally, to all consumer goods manufacturers across the board. Save for maybe 2-3% of companies that are typically going to be small companies with extremely limited production, in very niche markets. And then if they end up seeing enough profit and growth to justify expansion, it ends up going down hill at roughly the same rate that production goes up, if not more steeply. Boosting production means outsourced production most of the time, and that means less hands on quality control, at best. Which means customer support is going to have to be boosted up to mitigate the increased production errors. At worst it could mean using cheaper parts as well, which always goes great, every single time that it gets done. 😅

    Great stuff as always. I think Dynamic power is probably the most useful test for subwoofer amps because of the Kick Drum in music. It requires a short burst of power to be reproduced and the better the amp can react dynamically, the truer the reproduced sound, IMHO. This also applies to other, short dynamic program material. I don't know why people would say it doesn't matter. Music IS Dynamic. Unless you're just listening to test tones, Dynamic Power matters. Linear Power amps back in the day has gobs of Dynamic Power available and they sounded amazing. Better than any amps I had heard before them. I know you tested one on here and showed how much headroom it had.
    My Ampere Audio AA-75.4 is a great-sounding little amp. Seems to have some good Dynamic headroom in it. And, it was a huge upgrade in terms of improving my system's audio quality. I'd be interested in you testing one or more of their products.
    Thanks again for your great videos. I really enjoy watching them.

    I bought one of these on Aug 30th and got it on the 6th Sept. Hooked up power and ground and remote and powered it up. It was awesome seeing that blue light on. Left it on for about 15 minutes while I went to get my DD1 to set the gains. When I got but the amp was in protect mode. No RCA's and no speaker wires connected. Cycled the amp and still in protect. Disconnected everything and waited a few minutes. Reconnected to power, ground and remote and still in protect. Took the amp out and put my 12k Taramps back in. That worked find. I bench tested the JP93 on a 48ah Headway battery and still have protect light. Having to send the amp back but having problem getting them to send me the authorization email with an RMA so I can send it back. Been a week now and no word.

    Adjusting the phase control when you only have one type of speaker playing one particular frequency doesn’t change anything. Phase control comes very important when you are nearing crossover frequencies… The method I personally use is to adjust phase is start with your subs playing a test tone at approximately crossover frequency at a low/medium volume, now slowly increase the gains on your mid bass amplifier, if it gets quieter before it gets louder, you are out of phase.

Have had a jp23v2 and a v1.5 and have a pair of mini maxxs in my wife's truck and all of them ran very hot, even mounted over an inch off the floor so the fans can breathe. Overall I am impressed with the JP amps just suggest after market fans aiming at them or modifications to the bottom plate and fans at it. My jp23v2 caught fire within 10 minutes of install at .5 ohms. D4S addressed the issue relatively quickly, I ended up getting the pair of mini maxx ( 1500rms and the bigger 4 channel) vs getting another V2. D4SOUND is a great company, if you have proof of purchasing the Jp amplifier brand new, there should be no issue. There is no good reason, if what you say is true about your amp having those issues/problems right away, that you wouldn't give them a chance to make it right, its almost a $400 amp, its worth a warranty claim. Rather than slamming them, before giving them a chance to make it right. This doesn't sound right.

    I had 4 jl audios wired at 2 ohms on 1 amp that put out 2000w @ 2ohms. Then I tried 1 ohm on a different amp with the same watts at 1ohm 2000w. I really like the way the bass sounds wired lower. It feels like it hits deeper and harder.

    • @jp1087
      @jp1087 6 месяцев назад +1

      Generally, a higher impedance is going to give you better sound quality, not the other way around. Lower impedance will increase the odds of noise coming through. Your 2nd amp at 1ohm may have just been of a better quality, or set up properly. Or your original amp at 2 ohms wasn't set up correctly. I did a similar experiment a number of years ago with an Earthquake D2 Shredder vs a MMATS D300HC on a pair of MMATS Pro-Cast 12's and then on a pair of Earthquake Magma 12's. That's the old-school Magma12's, not the newer Magma 12X's. The Earthquake amp wound up actually producing a much more tight and accurate bass at the higher resistance with roughly the same power output as the MMATS amp. The MMATS Pro-Cast 12's were rated slightly higher for power handling and seemed a little louder overall than the Magmas, but the Magmas excelled at sound quality, even at high volume, and didn't have any issue handling the power of either amp. Both pairs of subs were used in the same slot-ported box.

      @@in2quads Did you get it modded by Earthquake? That was a must with those first and second gen D2's if you wanted to go competition. I wound up having the speaker wires get crossed and frying mine, so I sent it to Earthquake in the Bay Area. Not only did they repair it quickly, but the technician called me and asked if I wanted to make any "upgrades." I had them mod it for 1-ohm stability and over 3K rms; and increase the power output at 2 and 4ohms. Only cost about $150 for everything at the time. The last system I used it for I had it running 4 Pioneer Premier 1500SPL 10-inch subs. It was a good match for those running about 2500wrms at 2ohms.

  • @dicmccoy
    @dicmccoy 6 месяцев назад

    You shouldn't align phase at 1 given frequency like 40hz. You will likely throw out the phase at the surrounding frequencies of 40hz. You should use pink noise in the Tone Generator in REW for your bass frequencies, then use the RTA in REW and adjust the variable phase until you get a linear response and a proper handover from mid bass driver to the bass drivers. Phase is frequency dependent, so if you adjust your crossover point, you'll need to adjust the phase shift.

      @@THELIFEOFPRICE that entirely defeats the purpose of being able to see the voltage at the amp and the temperature of the amp. I was never a fan of rca knobs to begin with; however, I’ve used the remote knob that came with the amp since the first time a bought an amp with one. The Bluetooth knob still has to get plugged in via usb to work regardless so it’s not even wireless and I don’t want all the extra radio waves. I’d be willing to bet if you offered all of your Korean amps with the option for Bluetooth knob or hardwired knob you’d be shocked how many pick the hardwired over the Bluetooth 🤷🏻‍♂️ just my 2 cents though
