I lived on the isle of grain in the late 80s early 90s as a kid. From what ive been told its nothing like how it used to be. I remeber watching a big white ferry that used to dock at sheerness over the water, the dragons teeth on the left as you go down from the car park, climbing the "martello" battery tower, going in the tunnels, going round as far as i could to watch my dad opperating the cranes in thamesport, the bmx track that used to be on the far side of the field, Looking for fishing takle on the beach. Thank you for bringing back some memorries for me 👍
Cheers, fella. This is the first time I have incorporated drone footage as b-roll. It's a bit of a faff setting up and packing away, but I think it is worth it in the long run. I must admit, I enjoyed this walk much more than I thought I would, plenty of downtime off-camera 😉
Thanks, Liam. Although I visited during the week, I was surprised by the lack of people considering it is the school summer holidays. It's a strange, remote place with a mix of industry and history.
I used to dig lugworm for local fisherman in my teens at Grain. I lived down the road in Allhallows. Happy days in the 70's. Thank you David for taking me back 45 years and yes I liked and subscribed.
Hi David, good to meet you on the White Cliffs at Dover this morning. My brother and I enjoyed talking to you. Look forward to seeing the video that you was filming today. Best wishes Paul Kendall
Hi Paul, nice to meet you both on the walk. I hope you enjoyed your hike along the coastline. It was hectic on the walk back from South Foreland, so I do not have high hopes for the video. I am in the process of producing the video now, hopefully it will go live this evening. All the best, Dave 👍
@@DavidWilsonOutandAbout David, brilliant video. We saw the National Trust staff arrive at South Foreland Lighthouse when we walked past, twenty minutes after we spoke. The helicopter that was flying around the coast belonged to the Belgian Navy. It flew level with the cliffs as we were walking towards Deal. It was spectacular to see. I will keep a look out for your future videos. Best wishes Paul
Used to live by grain , theres some lovely walks there and an absolute ton of history .
Yes, an abundance of history and a very peaceful area for walking
Thanks David. I enjoyed the very unhurried meander with you. I've subscribed and shall join you again. (John in Brisbane)
Hi, John. Greetings from across the pond. Glad you enjoyed the video, and thanks for commenting and subscribing to my channel.

All the best, Dave 👍
I left Allhallows in 79 by joining the navy. I would spend hours on the marshes as a kid.
@@HappyAsLarry-eh9kc You joined the Navy the year I left. Hiking and filming the White Cliffs of Dover tomorrow 😉

Lovely! I'll have to have a look around the area. The Grain Tower looks like something out of a post-apocalyptic movie or video game.
You can more or less feel the hundreds of years of history when you are near the tower fort. Glad you enjoyed the video, Tom 👍
Interesting walk. Thanks for posting.
You're welcome. Thanks for visiting my channel and watching the video.
Well that's inspired me to pop up there for a wander, great video as always!
