Agree, many British productions of novel adaptations are simply superb. After just ending this movie,I feel sad for those two, who seemed to have a bonding so deep, that they choose to share their moment of death together. This story is about love and hate, with bitterness, and hearts torn apart, leading to more of the same. Hot heads, and cold hearts. The ambiance, the costumes, the light of candles, all scenery is beautiful. I always love mills with large wheels turning by the power of water. That sailing ship was marvellous, I enjoyed watching a world, in a time for which I feel a special longing. 🙏 👋👩🌾
Too depressing too Sad Yes well done goid acting, cinema 🎥 beautiful. But honestly there's too much in the world now that's depressing that I don't want to see in a story no matter how great the writer was.
An early role for Emily Watson, who turned into a fine actor. In 2002 alone she was in Punch Drunk Love, Red Dragon, and the amazing Christian Bale film Equilibrium.
Not just like that! Some lives are meaningless when the particular well-meant or stupid passion is taken away. That’s what for Mr. Tulliver, tTom or Maggie ! That’s life and that’s what we call as Karma, only the scenes change.
I don’t like hate movies or sad ones so I’m not going to finish watching this. I’m 30 minutes into it. Many people praised it!! Gnite YT World Friends ✨🌛✨
I have seen that many are mentioning here the name George Eliot, the author of the book the movie was made after. Are students in the American schools told that George Eliot was actually a woman? Her name is Mary Ann Evans. None of Jane Austen's books too were signed by her. The further she went with revealing her identity was 'By a Lady."
That's what bitterness and hate can do. Kills and destroys life. A foolishness. Forgiveness is best. Learn from the past , live in the present but plan for the future. They did neither. Self centeredness is what this movie was about for the Telliver family. Sad. They learned this from the unforgiving father's bitterness.
Rubbish... they both, Maggie and Tom, forgave each other before they died... and that's what counts ❤ Too many people are passing away with unresolved issues and long-lasting hatred while these two had managed to free themselves from it all, no matter how sad their earthly end was... the story is not a spiritual tragedy... rather its opposite ❤🔥👌
Everyone has their own share of loyalties to their dear ones , family, friends and to their own resolves to themselves that are translated into a code or a langauge that only they can understand and swear and live by! One of them being self worth/ pride/ self esteem and a sense of belonging to oneself when there was and is nothing / no one else to trust and look forward to or fallback FOR ( not on ) AND THIS IS WHAT WE CARRY WITH US AFTER THE LAST BREATH HAS BEEN TAKEN FROM US !
It should have, indeed... but partly it still was since the siblings forgave each other just before their tragic death... and that's what counts the most 👍🤝
I was longing for watching this film as I am interested in the novel Mill on the Floss. I would be much delighted if you give a chance to see other films based on classic s
It is a dark story, but we can learn a lot about the value of not judging and criticising others. How else do we gauge our behaviour and what is perceived to be right and wrong, if not by watching and reading these classics? So many viewers personalise these situations instead of seeing them objectively. What really surprises me is how poorly their opinions are expressed and how bad their spelling is. Perhaps this movie is unappealing to those who had basic education only. There are comparisons to be made with other dark stories which confirm our own societal norms, but reacting emotionally prevents this from happening. We don’t have to enjoy the story in order to learn from it.
