  • Oscar Wilde's classic play comes to life. Lady Windermere's Fan tells the tale of an English noblewoman, Lady Windermere, who falls out of love with her husband after coming to believe he is cheating on her with another woman. Unbeknownst to Windermere, the other woman is actually her long-lost mother, who must now save the crumbling marriage of her daughter and son-in-law.

"My dear Windermere, manners before morals."
Seriously though, I cried at the end. Wilde makes you laugh, cry and everything in between. This is well cast, well costumed and the music is spot on for the early Gilded Age. I lost my mother not too long ago, and she was DEFINITELY a "woman with a past" as Wilde would've termed her. I think we see a little of him in all of the characters, obviously, but no more so than in Mrs. Erling I think. Wilde loved his mom too, and eventually lost contact with his own children after his imprisonment. We all make mistakes, and it's important to forgive others and ourselves: even if we never truly understand why.

    I love it ! I love it ! I love it !!
I absolutely loved everything about the play - the cast, the acting, the costumes, the accessories - everything was fantastic! I was particularly impressed by Mrs. Erylnne and Lady Windermere. It was amazing how well the mother and daughter, who looked similar and acted in harmony, were cast. I was truly amazed by the entire production! I've never been a fan of plays before, but now I am. Thanks to everyone involved!

Why change the script so? The acting is okay despite the poor timing, but the screenwriting changes make it merely tolerable.

I thought it was to shorten it but they added various minor points like the Lady Agatha's brother at Oxford 🙄
Overall a worthwhile endeavor and I would have enjoyed it in performed live in person

Why, indeed? Wildean wit descends into trivial melodrama.

Third rate American actors trying (and failing) to put on an English accent ruins the whole play.
Duchess of Bearwick not Berick indeed.

I don't know how anyone could praise this production. Bad camera work, indifferent surroundings and actors, acting so bad that I think the cast must have graduated from one of those fly-by-night schools that promise to get you into commercials. The actors today are pretty awful. They are all similar, they look like television actors with not much experience. If we look back at how movies were made, a good example of what good lighting, imaginative camera work, and actors like you don't see anymore, is That Hamilton Woman, Vivien Leigh and Lawrence Olivier. We're seeing the demise of greatness and the ascent of mediocrity, to the point at which people don't even realize what they're missing.

Very true , its horrid , but when you got good text , you can pull it off.
I don't think they were really bad actors. It's just that they weren't British and it was set in England.
And there were too many directors and that killed it.
