- After the disaster that was Omega Weapon, it's finally time to nail the coffin on this game, and I'm glad she was much easier! There's no rush here so enjoy a mid paced last battle. My only regret is having Rinoa use Angel Wing, because those unfitting magic attacks got tiring after sometime.

I simply love how Rinoa is called Derpina.
It fits so well.

10:10 scared the living crap out of me. I knew I was in for a treat and the game was about to come to an end. "All existence denied"...This final soundtrack was out of this world at the time too.

I miss the days when a final boss didn't want to die so they changed forms.
Giving them a butt ton of HP and different phases (I.E. Different attack pattern) just don't feel the same and multiple bosses in a row doesn't either.

not gonna lie but i feel like this was like too much... like I say after the first or maybe after the third form give like a break or something dude like give the menu option after the third fight especially like give the menu dude because 4 super hard fights back to back to back is insane
Wow I love this game..ff 7 and 8 were classics. Never got to play 9 and I'm hearing its great as well so I'll be playing that one soon!
9 is one of the best on PSX. You won't be disappointed. Hopefully you've played it by now.

Am I the only one that sees the first frames of the game is the hole plot explained. The waves come and go symbolizes the time loop of Rinoa becomes Ultemicia then transfers her power - mind to Edea, Squall seeds the idea of well u know Seed to Edea etc. Its a vicious cycle fitting to the number 8. 8 horizontally is infinity

haha first time I did this, it took me so long I had to pause the game mid- fight, go to school then come back and try (and fail) to win at the evening.
nowdays... triple meltdown, aura+ renzokuken, aura+ quick shot aura+ duel and it's over.
I won with everyone dead except for Rinoa... that angel wing limit break and dog recovery saved my day... THANK GOD I HAD HERO MAGIC TOO.
Squall Lionheart is my favorite Final Fantasy VIII character of all.
i remember at 5:45 thinking "man this bitch is easy."
then when "Maybe I'm a Lion" comes on at 6:10 i was just like "o shit..." cuz i knew the battle was really about to begin.
+C.J. Fuller I remember this being my first FF. Ultimecia was very devious, as far as to blow away augments on your party, then if you didn't use a phoenix down in time, they would just get absorbed into time...
I just cringed when this youtuber let Rinoa use angel wing, she'll just spam random magic.....
+Hardy Joe I wasn't purposely trying to strategize lol. Everyone is junctioned with overpowered abilities and weapons to the point where I allowed the fight to drag on.
RoxasNova Yeah, you had three at lv.100. I can relate to Irvine though, he was my favorite laid back character of this final fantasy. I always liked Rinoa's final limit break though, but never had much luck with angel wing because she would pull a "FF6" act, and just cast whatever she wanted, and lol at the constant scan.
+Hardy Joe it's true about Angel Wing blowing d so hard. I was 13 when this game came out so I figured that I was just a dumb tween that didn't understand the FF fighting mechanics like I did with the previous FFs, but after replaying VIII again.. no.. I was right. Angel Wing still blows d. pretty hard, too.
+RoxasNova I liked the fight honestly. I hate watching these boss battles people do and the boss is 1HK by a limit break or summon. but I was like WTF when you casted Quake on boss that's clearly not on the ground haha
Love the griever boss theme
The first time I ever beat Ultimecia as a kid it took me at least an hour to beat her. I don't even want to mention how many attempts it took me because I didn't understand the game mechanics at all XD. I just remember on one attempt she cast "Hell's Judgement" and then immediately cast "Ultima" just for the overkill.....
Great playthrough though! I got a bit of nostalgia from this! :)

I beat her a few days ago, and I have to admit the way I read those finishing lines that time really made me think that one point in time, Ultimecia was a good person who went crazy due to a trauma of some kind she experienced, which resulted in me tearing up a little. That may just be me reading too much into something that wasn't the case, and maybe there was a different explanation during the story for why she went batshit, but still... that's how I felt.
@Rydia of Mist That'a honestly the gist of it. I think Ultimecia grew up as a sorceress in a time where they were hated and feared, and it turned into a disdain for humanity. She even explains it in her speech at Deling City in the original Japanese script, but the localization left it out for whatever reason. I think thats why a lot of people were left cold to Utlimecia as a villain because they literally didnt know wtf her deal was

1 year, they was doing both game since 1997 if i don't remember wrong but IX wasn't going to be a number game, in the end they decided to name it Final Fantasy IX

Now that I think about it I never once used scan in any of my FF8 playthroughs
Finally a playthrough where the player doesn't use holy wars, or the other popular methods of easily beating ultimecia, the first time i beat ultimecia i was only 9, so i had little knowledge of the special items and extreme junctioning set ups lol so it was blooody hard!
For reasons unexplained, I forgot to remove her magic. I only got one meteor this round!

I think I saw this battle as a kid. I recall there being a monkey boss who you thought before main boss, which I recall as floating building with multiple faces. I guess the monkey was Griever and the floating building was Ultimicea final form.
I guess it might have also have been the final fight in the next. I definitely remember all parts of this game though, like the fight with Bahamut and the question before.

That's the same as when I played. Ultimecia took me well over an hour. Seemed to take forever. xD I agree about Lionheart etc ruining bosses. That along with meltdown makes them too easy imo.
It really pisses me off so much that square is paying no mind and or acknowleding this game right now. It's literally my favorite in the series and it deserves an amazing remaster. Even the switch version, they skip right over 8.. it's really not cool at all. But 7 gets 45 remakes

The only thing i dislike about 8 is how they neglect several of your party’s backstories. Quistis became irrelevant after the secret area scene. Zell and selphie has like few scenes that are about them. Although squall and rinoa’s story is really great for me. Better than cloud’s story. Just my opinion tho

@@marksantiago9841 wrong. They explain everyone's story about half way through the game. One reason people think this game has a crappy storyline was because they just skipped all the text. There was also tons of stuff hidden throughout the course of the game. Secret scenes, conversations with NPCs

First time i fought Ultimaciea i got rocked a little. I didn't know she could remove junctions, and switch in characters. And because i rarely used the other 3 party members ( Quistis, Selphie, and Irvine) they had shit magic junctioned which made the battle way harder than it should have been. Awesome play through, looking forward to whats next. Maybe FF9? =3

Every time a megaelixir was used, I cried a little inside. If a Curaga can fix it, and it's a storyline boss, using one is a waste to me.

belias360 Megalixirs are very easy to come by. You can refine 1 Bahamut card into 99 of them.
I know about that trick, but they're generally rare in FF games and so on principle, I'm stingy as hell with them.
belias360 Hate replying so late, but that's what I meant. Using a ton of 'lixers killed the fun for me personally. I could have just healed normally. Watching this two years later feels weird.

Yeah and luckily she removes magic you don't need. ^_^ That Hell's Judgement scared me the first time. FF9? Well there's a big possibility that might come during the holiday week... people have to stick round because that's another FF I lost and would like to get redemption for. Haha :O

I remember I was gonna play FF8 blind for the first time and this video popped up, I thought the thumbnail of Rinoa was the final boss and I was actually fucking pissed because I've been wanting to play this one for a long time and so I was about to wright an angry comment but I beat the game not too long ago and thank god I was wrong. (And one more thing maybe try to change the thumbnail)
Funny thing is Ultimecia is Rhinoa. Seriously think about it...........why is her GF named after squalls necklace. Then why does she have the same face. How is she a socreress.

I am guessing you two have no idea how Angel Wing limit break works. It boosts all magical damage x5. So much so that Demi can kill now. It also does not use up any magic from stock. This is at the cost of losing control of Rinoa and the magic being randomly selected from her stock. It is also called "Magic Berserk" for this reason.
You have 3 characters at level 100, one at 42 and the other two at 28 and 14. Hoe does the difficulty scale in this case? To the highest leveled character or to the lowest?
Good question, because I don't remember. I think difficulty scales where every enemy ends up matching the highest leveled character in the end. The 4 who were lower in level were party members I stopped using at the end. Squall/Zell/Irvine are 100 because I grinded their stats just to fight Omega

Well you can let yourself be hit by Ultimecia's Mealstorm twice or her Hell's Judgement then use Holy War to your party and you can be done by the bosses in no time 👍.
I'm sorry. I know I'm an ass when i say this. But you go to thousand needles island and draw full stock Aura and tripple on everybody and just pound on er with limit brakes. I know this was made just to show of the boss, but god damn. And why scan her all the time? Sorry...Rant over. Same goes with Sephiroth videos I've seen. You go Omni slash and 4xSLASH.. Not Freaking 2xslash..... Ok..ok...ok....I'm sorry. I just couldn't not say something. Thank you for the nostalgia trip. My favorite game of all time. One day i will play it again
First time doing this fight, I remember abusing the shit out of Aura for the last two sequences.

A woman I REALLY wanted to exist in this realm...... Beat this game on a fluke (hey, I'll do this boss battle until I die). Final battle was her and Squall for about 6-8 mins, and AURA......

You can do a no level-up run without problems :v and upgrading weapons don't help so much,really
It's a no brainer, because most of the upgrades are hard to find....It took a while for rinoa's and squalls...
If what you mean is junction, well no, you will suffer without junction even if you have full ultimate weapons.
