Hi. Do you rinse with plain water too after putting acv in your hair? Also, how long one is supposed to keep it in hair ? I would want to use it after shampooing n conditioning. Is it the right way?
I use ACV mixed with distilled water after I shampoo and before I deep condition. Mix one part vinegar to 5 or 10 parts water depending on how hard your water is, spray all over and apply to scalp as well and work through the hair, and let sit for 5 mins. Rinse and deep condition. I haven't washed my hair with shampoo for 8 years. I only rinse it with diluted ACV 1-2 times a month. 40% 5% ACV and 60% water. And zero hair products. It does not smell, not even of "hair". The ACV removes any odor, leaving the hair with a faint fruity scent. So I've used quite the larger amount of ACV with no problems. I do not like to use it as "aftershave", but it does a fine job at that as well. Do you ever smell, like under your arms and can't seem to get rid of the BO? Add some diluted ACV under your arms(IT WILL BURN, first time), for a min, rinse, wash, BO gone. You can also clean carpets with ACV, wash your floors with it, fabric softener and odor remover, quite a lot of good uses. Just.....remember you have to dilute it. The Vinegar odor evaporates within 10-15mins, if you dilute it. If you use full strength, your carpet might smell like vinegar. Now back to by hair: I went to the hairdresser for the first time in 6 years, 2 years ago. She had never seen hair as nice as mine, so strong and long and even had an incredible stretch to it, such a clean scalp and was amazed I only used diluted ACV. She had heard of this, but not seen it in person. My hairdresser could not understand why I had no split ends/tips either, was this due to the ACV? The other hairdressers came over and had to look at my hair, hold it, feel it.....and one of them joked if this came out, the shampoo business would go under. Initial "problems" will last about 1 month, you'll have bad hair days for a month. But then the 'body' starts to build up, and in 6 months you'll have thick lovely '70's hair. Edit for the odd spacing RUclips now makes in comments.
Hi, I just want to know, you wrote 40% 5% ACV 60% water... But 40% of what ? And after you rinse with it, do you rinse another time with only water ? Thank you
@@karstenvonfjellheim5321 Thank you for the quick answer. I would like to know if you rinse the ACV with only water after you rinsed your hair with the mix solution ?
You don't need a conditioner after shampooing. The ACV treatment detangles and conditions. After applying wear a plastic bag as a cap, leave in for 30 minutes, then rinse. The AVC smell will disappear as soon as the hair is dry.
My 1st time doing this was about 13yrs ago for my daughter's hair. Her hair kept breaking because of her ends splitting for no reason. I trimmed them, did an acv rinse & used coconut oil. It stopped the splitting almost instantly & today she has waist length hair... very healthy & it keeps her scalp so clean. I don't even do it that often... maybe once a month.
@@rosita3528 No, I just did acv as a treatment & rinsed out after 15-20 minutes. The coconut oil was just my choice of oil for her hair but from my experience everyone's hair doesn't like coconut oil. My daughter's hair is straighter than mine, as you can see in my picture mine is wavy... coconut oil I have to mix with a carrier.
This is especially beneficial for households with hard water supply. When hard water dries on the hair it turns it into dried-up straw. If I don't use ACV as a rinse I look like an old mop left in the sun. The ACV that goes down my drain is the cheap white vinegar though, I'm not about to dump my 'food' down the hole... :-)

When I was a little girl, I would often spend parts of the summer in a small country town with my great aunt and uncle . Many beautiful sunny, summer mornings I recall that aunt would take me outside and take rain barrel water and wash my hair. After shampooing, she would take diluted apple cider vinegar and rinse my very oily ,then platinum blonde hair, using the vinegar as a rinse or astringent. It would be so shiny and remain oil -free for several days afterwards. I still have oily blonde hair. I hadn't thought about this in awhile. I'm going to start downloading Dr. Berg's vids for the fear that the medical industrial industry ban him off the internet. This and many more vids can make a big dent in their pockets. Almost 3 mil subs! I subscribed long time before you were at a million even!
I do this for quite a while now. Don't waste money on conditioners or on clarifying shampoos which supposed to remove the shampoo build up. Rinse your hair first as usual after using a shampoo. Then fill the sinc with filtered water, add the right amount of acv, dip your hair and sculp in it for about 30 - 40 sec, massage the sculp a bit in the acv-water - I rinse it off (not completely) with cool filtered water after that cleanse. Cool or cold water closes the overlapping outermost cells of the hair which makes them shine. The acv smell disappears by the way.
I used it on my granddaughters' long hair after shampooing, rinsed with ACV and combed it wet. It was amazing for detangling their hair! Added shine and smoothness too.
@@kryska367 then don't use it. Maybe throw a little dirt in your hair. Don't wash your hair and throw a little dirt in there. That should help get it a little grittier.
ACV is super popular as a hair treatment in the Black American community. I would say most Black women who wear their hair natural in its curly and/or coily state use it or are at least aware of ACV rinses. Many haircare product companies that cater to this demographic caught on and have been including ACV in their products for a few years now. Personally, I have used ACV rinses for years. Works best for me applied between shampooing and conditioning. I leave it in with my conditioner for 5-10 mins or so then rinse. I had the healthiest, most beautiful hair in my life when I was consistent with the ACV rinses and other natural haircare such as hot oil scalp treatments with organic castor oil.
My mom in the used to do this in the 50s and sixties she would say we need to put a vinegar rinse on your hair when I was a little girl. And she would use it on her hair about one a week or so
I had started water washing my hair one month ago. Best decision ever. Also I add dried rosemary in undiluted vinegar. Let it sit for two weeks and thn dilute it. Rosemarry is for hair growth.
I have been looking for some solutions to my oily & damaged hair Early I've tried rice water which is truly amazing. But then I realized I cannot used it frequently as my hair already healthier and only using it once a month or when needed. Then, I switched to coffee (I used black nescafe) because my hair getting thinner. I like the smell of coffee in my hair and have been using it for twice a week and when needed. It helps grow my baby hair within one to two weeks. Later on, my hair becomes oily at the top. I'm trying to use rice water to treat it but no changes at all. I thought I may have tried ginger water but then... maybe... just maybe APPLE CIDER VINEGAR would help and YES, my hair is softer now. I used ACV as my final rinse. I leave it on my hair and let it air drySo, here I am few times now trying to learn more about ACV. Thank you doctor for the information!!!! Shampoo first, then conditioner. Wash with water (mine is hard water) and then final rinse with ACV.
@@lostfound5471 Yes, so far from my own experience with thin hair & hair loss, Nescafe does help a lot. I'm not so sure with dandruff and oily scalp though; and I think I don't really recommend you use coffee or Nescafe to treat oily scalp. It does help with hair loss, your hair will look shiny, coffee nice smell but wet-looking. As for dandruff... I don't know yet.
Actually baking soda(if one has persistent dandruff) and after that the ACV rinse works wonders. Don't shampoo after that. Use it on weekends and shampoo on Monday.
It does not necessarily have to be ACV, it can just be distilled vinegar. I have been using it for years and I have people stop me to compliment my hair. I really like Sodium Bicarbinate mixed in my shampoo bi-weekly and follow with a vinegar rinse. I don't use sulfate shampoos or dimethicone conditioners. I like the Sheamoisture line, particularly, the Jamaican Black Castor Oil shampoo and I use Briogeo hair mask as a conditioner. I buy one big 32 oz tub every year of the conditioner and a half a pump works for all of my fine but voluminous Caucasian hair. I use a full pump once a week in the winter as a deep conditioner 20 minute hair mask; other wise, a half of a pump for a couple of minutes. I also take evening primrose oil 2600mg a day.
I followed these directions when I washed my hair today. At first, I thought my hair felt a little stiff and dry, but about two hours later it felt soft and looked shiny. I think it initially felt different because all the buildup was gone.
I shampoo then use a ACV rinse, let it sit for a few minutes while I cleanse my face. Then I rinse it out. Next I use conditioner or a hair mask. Then I rinse. I use a leave in treatment and a heat protector after. Then blow dry. I also started eating more protein. And sleeping more. Stressing less. Less ponytails. More scalp massages.
If you use vinegar instead of fabric softener in the washer it will soften your clothes and get rid of any remaining soap & keep your washer clean. Vinegar whether white or ACV works the same and has many uses.
Just did this !!! It’s amazing! I put the ingredient in a bottle of Aquafina water 💧. The results are unbelievable! My hair fills soft ! But I did add coconut oil in my hair after I showered . Then I saw this 2 hours later and tried it . So maybe the coconut in my hair helped with results.

So you had dandruff after using ACV?
@@randomness8819 You seem quite rude.
@@mrs.6813 straight forward honest talk these days seems to be considered rude. Thanks for your needless and worthless opinion
Now back to by hair:
I went to the hairdresser for the first time in 6 years, 2 years ago.

Then fill the sinc with filtered water, add the right amount of acv, dip your hair and sculp in it for about 30 - 40 sec, massage the sculp a bit in the acv-water - I rinse it off (not completely) with cool filtered water after that cleanse.
If you use vinegar instead of fabric softener in the washer it will soften your clothes and get rid of any remaining soap & keep your washer clean. Vinegar whether white or ACV works the same and has many uses.

I'm wondering if you took those ingredients, create a paste to apply and save the rest for later. Hmmm...
@@fnub I used to use baking soda but was told it actually damages your hair and makes it break. So research it before you commit to it. Just remember ph balances. I think baking powder is alkaline, and vinegar acid.
I’ve been doing this for years. Using it straight is totally fine since your hair is already wet. I have never had a problem with it being too strong. Agree on once a week. Make sure you rinse out after a couple minutes. If you want to take it up a notch add some lavender essential oil to your vinegar. 😊
So to my ACV rinse i add little bit lavender essential oil... And i don't need to rinse it off?
Acv helps so much. I dont rinse acv from my scalp. I spray my scalp nighlty with diluted acv to control seborrheic dermatitis aka severe dandruff. I use 40% acv with 60% water. It has not damaged my hair at all. It's more shiny and manageable
Can you please explain how you apply it? Do you leave it over night
@@reshmaangela8584 I spray my scalp at night before bed. I'm African American with dreadlocks so I wash my hair once a week. After I shampoo, I immediately spray my scalp with my mixture to set the ph balance back to my scalp.
During the day, I spray my hair with rose water.
@@temickab thank you love 😍
@@reshmaangela8584 you're welcome. As an added incentive, try not to rub coconut oil on your scalp as it makes it worse. Coconut oil has a fatty acid that dandruff loves to eat.
@@temickab omg really 😭😭😭 I pour coconut oil on my scalp
I do a "no poo method" and use ACV to rinse my hair, which happens once a month. Haven't used shampoo in 2 years and my hair is thriving
wow! I've been wanting to cut out shampoo too! Now I do an ACV rinse when my hair gets greasy. Do you still use conditioner?
My wife uses ACV in her hair, only much more concentrated (after washing it with olive oil soap). Like 1 on 5 or so... It improved her hair drastically and takes way longer to get fat hair again.
Luctae. What is fat hair ?
@@carolcole570 I think greasy is the better word. English is not my native language, the result of poor translation on my side 😎
I stopped using shampoo 4 months ago and only use the yolk(s) of an egg as shampoo. The yolk is an emulsifier. I tried the baking soda no-poo thing but it made it brittle. The yolks truly remove the oil, make it voluminous, so soft & manageable. I first started with 2 yolks because it was weird to get the hang of it at first. But now I only use 1. Followed by acv diluted rinse for dandruff.
Good advice, thanks for sharing!
But don't use hot water to rinse out egg yolk, or you'll be rinsing scrambled egg out of your hair for half an hour, trust me.
I do the no shampoo method where my hair is so thin. I use apple cider vinegar once a week and my thin hair is getting much more body. It’s so soft!
Please tell me procedure how to wash hairs with acv?
i had severe dandruff, oily and itchy scalp and its get worst during change of season, , but after using ACV as my hair rince/conditioner all 3 problems are solved . it's been 2 months since I've been using thm and i can't be happier

I started drinking Apple Cider Vinegar (with the "mother") when I was diagnosed with FIBROMYALGIA (so many different symptoms) Since a kid I loved acidic tastes, raw lemons, oranges and my mom always cooked with it. The first thing was less frequent pain speciality the sudden sharp bouts. Mom ORDERED it both as a tonic and as rubbing substance. AMAZING. as the pain subsided my hair began to feel thicker ( I was not pouring it in my hair) SOMETHING magical is part of this. Notice that this "Cider" does not EVER go bad, just as garlic and honey. To me.. the cure to ALL illnesses is out there on a tree branch
What ratio to water do you use?
When i was little, you could buy egg shampoos. But they taking goodness off the market.
The proteins are funtastic for your hair too
ACV rinse very good to remove build up of products, e.g. mousse, hairspray, etc.
Can be applied b4 shampoo (diluted. Of course) to remove the build up on hair shaft. Or after shampoo n conditioner, then rinsed out
This is the Best on hair and scalp! It helps battle hair loss too. Coming from a cosmetologist.. it is the absolute best. ☺️
@@wildstallion2.048 it's possible. It depends on if the papilla is still alive... Worth a try combined with regular scalp massage. Honey washes also help . Diluted the same way as vinegar rinse..followed by the vinegar rinse. It's so good! Especially manouka ! sp? Hopefully I spelled that right. 😁 Raw local works well too. Look up the curly girl method, also, fermented rice water! Inversion method. It applies to everyone, the combined information is great. Good luck!
Thank you, Dr. Berg for covering this topic! I'm loving this content. Keep the videos coming! 😀
I'm glad you liked this post.
@@Drbergshould I need to rinse w/water after I sprayed w/ mix or just leave it on
