I actually got the call a couple my months ago from my AD that my name was up on the list, and they had a date sub in stock for me. I was so excited, I couldn’t wait to pick up my watch. Before I did my wife had a talk with me and was like “what are you doing? Why are you spending $9000 on one watch, when you could just buy 180 invicta prodivers”. At first I was annoyed with her, but at some point. I realized she was right, so I ordered 180 prodivers off Amazon, and I couldn’t be happier. I finally have my grails.
It's not even April 1st.
😂😂😂😂😂😂
You're a fool. I got 3000 MVMT knockoffs from a guy behind Madison Square Garden.
It's "That guy"!!!
@@tyshig. I am that guy indeed. You are very intuitive.
For the price of a submariner, I got an Omega Seamaster Planet Ocean plus an Omega Aqua Terra GMT.
Much much better choice from you!
Terrific
@@rayhann8626 But you know that watch enthusiast buy watches because of the watch and not because it keeps the value. A car costs more and you will never ask if it loses value or not. If you can't spend "watch-money" without worrying about to get it back one day, don't buy such a watch and stick with Casio.
BB58, and Sinn U50 are my top alternatives to the Submariner.
“Today we’re gonna do something fun”…proceeds to have the most generic convo in watches and a topic he’s probably covered in 52 videos himself. Love ya fed, that just made me chuckle
H.Moser, my grail.
As a submariner owner here is what I think:
1. Yes plenty of awesome better watches I agree with you.
2. Is not a Submariner, if that is what you are obsessed with lol.
3. Depends where you go, every other person has one, and no I never would have bought it had I not paid retail.
Hey Fed, just wondering, where can I get the orange strap that's on your Moser? I noticed it's curved. I'm looking for a similar strap for my JLC Master Control.
I already have the "alternative". Blancpain Fifty Fathoms 5015, black dial, titanium on the bracelet. Beast of a watch. Even in titanium it has some heft. I have the wrist for it. Awesome watch.
Sometime in the future I may still consider the Glashütte Original SeaQ Panorama Date Bicolor, because that looks awesome too.
Why call it a alternative when it's a own watch on its own.. n BTW it's Rolex submariner that copy blancpain 50 n not the other way round.. Or may I suggest we call Rolex submariner a blancpain 50 alternative!!
@@kokhui32liau88 Quite right too. The Blancpain is it's own thing. Original post changed to put the word "alternative" in quotes.
@@kokhui32liau88 Rolex and Blancpain were both working on a diver at the same time. Blancpain only can out a year before. So saying Rolex just blatantly copied Blancpain is a bit of a stretch
If I had the money, I, too, would go with the Fifty Fathoms.
@@lonewolfemcquade8133 I agree with u, that my point, why whatever brand release a diver, that a homage of a Rolex sub, n whenever some brand release a chronograph, that a homage of a Rolex Daytona?
Fed, of all your customary watch checks, this one is my absolute favorite. Absolutely loving it paesan.
Fantastic choices. Not so fond of the Bucherer , but I absolutely love the Pioneer snd the Polaris. Im having a hard time parting with my SMP300M though, and can't afford a collection
Fed couldn’t agree with you more about the Polaris tried it on in the Jaeger boutique in Palm Beach and was totally amazed at the quality of the timepiece the lacquer dial blew me away I will be saving up so I can eventually purchase it in the near future.
Might consider the Blancpain Bathyscaphe very unique Diver
nice presentation. much appreciated.
I agree, that Moser (that I own to) is sooo nice…Imam just wondering why hardly any on 24 in Europe, but lots in the US?
Yeah you basically got that list right, the Tudor Pelagos 39 will shortly be on my wrist and the Polaris will one day be on my wrist, one of my all-time favorite watches. The SeaQ is nice, but I can't justify the price tbh...
Hi Federico, I'm a big fan of yours over in Italy and now currently based down in Guatemala. I think the most recent Longines Hydroconquest with ceramic bezel is a great alternative for way less the cost..... I personally really like the blue dial version, looking forward to adding it to my collection soon. Thanks for all the good stuff!
Fed, the Moser with that beautiful teal-like dial reminds me of that limited edition, only 25 made, Nivada Grenchen Antartic Spider Lagon.
Some may not like it, but I liked the color of the dial. They also made an Abysse version with a blue dial but it didn't sell as fast.
I'd add the Nomos Neomatik 42mm with a 300m depth rating, well lumed, beautiful in-house movement and an extra large date at less than half the price of a Sub. I've got $300K+ collection of watches but it's the Nomos I pick up most days 🙂
Nice to see you back in Florida Fed. Looking fabulous!
I’ve always liked the GO SeaQ 39, I wish it had the display caseback and power reserve of it’s bigger brother. I wonder what the serviceability of these movements are compared to more popular brands like Omega and Rolex?
Great information in this video!
That Bucherer Scubatech. Beautiful and hardy watch far superior in construction to the sub. The clasp has so many options . Tried it on at the local AD.
Glashutte…. Sooooo underrated.
I bought new an older model Oris Aquis, grey face and green ceramic bezel. 40% off rrp. Love it
I’ve been thinking of getting a gold Breguet type 20 on a leather strap instead of a sub… what you think?
I loved all your choices! That H. Moser is a grail watch for me. Thanks Fed.
Love your videos. Keep em coming!
I tend to find the Sub boring. I much prefer the Tudor and the GO.
On a side note…if anyone is on the fence for the CK 859…jump off and buy it from Delray asap. I was lucky enough to get one shortly if it was discontinued. Very elegant and classy watch from Omega
That H. Moser Pioneer on your wrist is gorgeous!!! The green dial and orange strap combination is hot!
I think pam 959 or other 42mm submersible offerings could also be a decent sub alternative as well.
Cool alternatives. Glashutte is very cool and my pick of these closely followed by the Tudor.
My Pelagos in Blue is a super piece. Light , solid and sooooooo clean
Love the 124060. Perfection.
I’ll never part with my Breitling Superocean II, but having said that, if I were getting dive watches today it would be the Pelagos and/or the H Moser Pioneer.
I am a big fan of Bucherer time pieces. Their Patravi line is awesome!
Hello Federico. Proudly wearing H.Moser Red Dial on the bracelet! Thank you. Vitali
Love the recently departed Cartier Diver. Great piece, seems like a good value, and you don’t see them every day.
Great list! I have the JLC Polaris Mariner Date and wouldn’t trade it.
JLC Polaris for me..big fan of that one
What is your opinion of a Breitling P51 Mustang? Jerry
Wow! Interesting choices, I don't think I would have predicted many of these. The diversity is one of the many aspects that makes horology so captivating.
Love the Moser. Great show.
I like the idea of H. MOSER & CIE.but. how do you get them serviced ? Can any watch guy service this watch an obtain parts? This is what I think when I seen watches with limited production.........
I am going to toss in a Panerai luminor marina. I just picked one up and it is awesome. I got the 8 days so it has 8 days of water resistance, 300m of water resistance, and definitely has its own design language. This watch is ready for whatever you throw at it
For the same money I would get Moser Pioneer or Blancpain Bathyscaphe. Both are more special, and have way better movement finishing with see through case back.
I totally agree with you about the SeaQ. Absolute best looking diver on the market as far as I can see.
Hi Fed, Love the Moser
What's a JBL Polaris?
Grand Seiko SLGA015 is also a great alternative to the Sub
I am right there on the Polaris. Beautiful piece.
dude love this list, I just happen to have sub-look alikes, but the Tudor is great alternative.
I have the Subby, the Explorer 2 and the Sea dweller. I agree there are more beautiful watches and your selection is just superb.
The Polaris is exceptional and could be a on my list. Oddly my favourites from my collection are the IWC Aquatimer and the Oris Titan small seconds. Just better looking watches. Period.
Seiko MM300 (the one without the X). But that SeaQ is beautiful.
Having owned the JLC Polaris for a period of time I can attest it is a great watch. However, when it came to consolidating my collection recently, it was on the for sale/trade list and now its no longer in my collection. I have tried to dissect why and have concluded the design of the watch never really aligned with my perception of what a dive watch should look like. But then again, I absolutely LOVE the Moser’s in my collection and that also does not align with my perception of design just the same as the JLC (but I never started collecting Moser watches to fill a specific genre but instead it was due to the great high Horology value proposition Moser provides as you articulated in your video). Finally, I do have an Omega Seamaster M300 and Planet Ocean both of which I absolutely LOVE just as I do similarly to Moser (recognizing they are at different ends of the Horology spectrum). To me, when compared with the submariner, the Seamaster has the design ethos of a dive watch that I expect, yet is the contrarian watch to purchase when compared to the Submariner. Additionally, I do think the Seamaster’s are the best looking dive watches out there!
Who is stupid and buys the JLC Polaris as a diving watch? Even JLC speaks of a sports watch.
The H Moser has a nice sunburst green dial but I’d pick the JLC , I like compressor dive watches.
JLC and the Chopard Pro One are on my shortlist….
JLC Polaris is awesome, love it.
I love two divers at the lower level. First the original Orient Neptune Triton in blue. This is just an elegant design. It does sit heavy on the wrist. The second is the Mido Ocean Star, a much less bulky diver. It is a dressy diver. With all these robberies, esp the recent spectacular one in Beverly Hills where a man was kicked and injured and his 40k rolex was swiped off his wrist on Canon Dr in broad daylight as he was getting in his car, an expensive watch attracts the wrong crowd, now a days. You can have a much less expensive, but tasteful watch. Times have changed, and the era of wearing an expensive watch in public may be over, too.
If I had the Money.. Pelagos! It is awesome!! I like Titanium anyways but also "in flesh" it IS awesome! Also wrist size wise - PERFECT! But for less Money - some really nice Titanium Prospex Divers without waitlist 😬
Great choices.
That CFB can fit very small wrists. It’s bracelet and straps don’t splay out at all. It is really an ergonomic wonder for its size. An incredibly well designed case/bracelet.
Like I said 25 years ago and I’ll say it again now - I’d take the Fifty Fathoms any day over the Submariner. I hope the next Fifty Fathoms offers a Havana dial/bezel version. I’ll buy one if they do.
Too bad Cartier no longer makes the Calibre de Cartier Diver. Gimme a blue dial one on bracelet - fantastic watch.
I have yet to see an Alpine Eagle in person but I have heard nothing but good things about it. If I were Chopard I’d go nuts with this watch’s dials. How about deep rusty orange, teal, and burgundy dial versions?
The SB7. The ability to bespoke it out. I own an SB4, piece unique that I spec’ed myself, and I’m looking forward to seeing an SB7.
One mustn’t forget Oris. They make some very nice alternatives at their pricing point. I think Oris needs to step up an echelon by offering more all gold/platinum versions. Time for Oris to step out of AAA Ball and into the Big Leagues.
Good show!
Blancpain, or Horage, if you're into history and the future.
Great choices, Fed. But man, the lug gaps on that Polaris! Got me spinning… haha.
Any love for the Longines Legend Diver?
No BP FF? No Panerai Sub? Interesting omissions
what is entirely different is the rolex sub owner. those who think they have something really special on them...when in fact they have an entry level luxury watch.
the GO seaq is stunning! The H Moser pioneer is just spectacular!!! (I've got my eye on both). I would also add to the list another watch that you, yes you Fed, have and that is the Breguet Marine, but the new generation. these mentioned watches are all works of art, not just a factory production watch.
Sinn is another great alternative. Hamilton and Oris make some great divers too.
funny I have a no-date sub 114060 and 116660 dssd but i do treasure and my only Tudor is a blue pelagos 25600TB... i never had a Glshutte yet nor a JLC as well as a BP 50fathoms but would love them, albeit the only JLC i would love is a reverso
Federico,
What is the rubber band you have on your H Moser?
It’s a Moser strap.
Just bought a submariner. Why am I watching this? 😂
So you could brag about buying a submariner in the comments, of course.
So you can flip to a watch newb and buy something better with the $$$
Because you're getting enlightened.
To mingle with the little people, of course
@@javahaxxor I need enlightenment, but no way I'm buying a Moser.
DOXA and Longines offer great dive watches at reasonable prices!
I used to really want a Seamaster, but the Pelagos has since replaced it on my wants list. That bright blue is just gorgeous.
The movement is worse and it’s just a baby brand to Rolex
@@davidkaplan5517 I have no desire to play the games required to own a Rolex. I’m not willing to deal with the AD nonsense or pay exorbitant gray market pricing for one.

@@matthewarend7197 that doesn’t take away from Tudor being worse.
Longines ultra-chron is a cool one and the UN diver 44
The Ultra chron is on my short list
The Glashutte and the Moser looked the best from this lot. I like Bucherer, but I just can't see them in this category
The Bucherer has an SW200 so not in the same league, Moser is a beautiful dress piece but not a diver although they now have a diver in their collection. The other 3 are excellent.
I don't disagree with you, Fed, but I would have included the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms and especially the Sinn U1, which is built like a tank and is far LESS expensive than a Sub.
I wouldn’t trade a sub in on any of those but the Mosier. I say just have more than one dive watch lol.
As always, fully agreed with Fed!
Beg to differ. The Omega Speedmaster Professional with Hesalite crystal is the most iconic watch of all time.
My brother and I went to a Rolex dealer several weeks ago in inquire about a Submariner and Sea Dweller Deepsea. They were very nice but we were told it would be maybe 2-3 years before we could purchase either of those watches from them. Is this the typical Rolex dealer experience? While we ourselves don't have purchase history at this particular store our father and grandfather have spent close to six figures there over the years.
Mido Ocean Star is an awesome bang for the Buck sports watch I own a black dial and blue dial each were only 1,200 and awesome alternatives to a grossly over priced Submariner.
How about a Panerai Luminor?
Loved this content, all great choices. Thanks! I would have included both Doxa and Blancpain as they were developed at the same time and were used as diver tool watches by Jacques Cousteau and crew. Both have equal heritage and are more unusual than the Rolex. The Grand Seiko diver would be a good alternative too. Cheers!
To bad the modern Blancpains are horrendous. The vintage Blancpain fifty fathoms were amazing
@@lonewolfemcquade8133what's wrong with them?
@@lonewolfemcquade8133 I agree.
100% on the Polaris!!!
A bit of your British background there, “ a brick shit house”. Love that. I bet that raises a few quizzical glances in Miami.😂
No BP Bathyscaphe?
That H. Moser is 🔥😍
My everyday watch, Certina DS Action diver 300 meter. It's not high-end, but you can buy a dozen of these for one Sub and give them as gifts. It can be beat up with no worries. I'm not claiming it to be the best, just a great everyday watch with cash in your pocket to spend on the next watch.
I know there are haters but how bout Panerai 025 Submersible. Titanium so it's not too heavy, tritium markers, really serviceable OP movement. It's a tank. And, the 44m wears way smaller on the wrist than people think. That CFB was a beauty.
Not exactly a diver but I'd offer nomos club sport Neomatik
I wouldn’t buy something because everybody else does nor would I not buy something I like because everyone else likes it. The moser and jlc look amazing btw I’m going to have to take a closer look at them.
For a more affordable option, I have a Davosa Ternos Sixties, and I'm very happy with. The Certina DS Action diver is also available with a similar appearance and price point at around $800.
I saw those online and kinda skipped over it thinking ok, whatever just another sub homage, for like $800 no less. Then by chance I met someone who was wearing one, and I got to handle it. It was one of the best sub style watches I had come across. To the point where I could possibly seeing it scratching a sub itch if I ever have one
Prefer the Certina Ds Ph 500 that dosen't look like a Rolex Submariner and it's more of it's own thing. The blue dial and orange 🍊 dial are very nice
Davosa is truly underrated.
Estimado porque no un Grand Seiko?
“ 5 whiskeys to buy instead of a Scottish single Malt “ 😂😂😂
Most dive watches are boring. Really like your Moser, Fed.
I love my Blancpain Fifty Fathoms!!😊
Nice videos and nice comps Federico! But saying that you can get better value than a submariner is a bit like saying that you can get better value with a Lexus than a Porsche 911. In the long run, this is not true. I have 2 subs, and yet one watch that I love as much and is really cheaper is the Longines Hydroconquest.
Omega Ploprof, 1200m in Steel . ! Forever !
I don't want a sub ... but I also don't want these. The JLC has sub-par lume and the watch has to be taken off to rotate the inner bezel. The Sea-Q is too large and heavy, and the smaller version is underwhelming. The Tudor is great. But it does not scratch the same itch as a Rolex. An H Moser diver on the other hand ... very nice, however they were limited editions and expensive.
One of the Coolest dudes in the watch world. Get it Fed
Aaaawwwww love the Polaris.
