Regarding the video on Thalidomide, the biggest issue was that doctors prescribed it specifically to pregnant women for morning sickness. When they realized that a majority of the babies were being born with horrible birth defects in the form of missing limbs, they stopped prescribing it, but there were thousands affected by then.
Dr. Frances Oldham Kelsey is the underappreciated hero of the FDA. She stood alone against pressure from pharmaceutical companies to approve thalidomide in the US, saving thousands of lives.
There were still cases in the US (from "free samples" I believe?) but it could have been much MUCH worse. Also, the company fucking _knew_ and kept pushing it anyway.

My fiancée does this every so often. She worked as a baker, pastry and candy maker, and cake decorator for years while we were in uni, so even now she bakes when she's anxious, bored or can't sleep. During the process she'll realize she didn't want the baked goods, forces some down her anyway, and then I get some for breakfast and both of our coworkers get free snacks.
It's not a fiscally sound response to stress, but I get something to bring my blood sugar back to a level resembling something not catatonic in the morning and all of our coworkers love us, and she comes back to bed sleepy and smelling like sweets, fruit (mango, lemon and blueberry are her faves) and sugar.
I can't wait for the Rapture.

The "not an automated message" thing @ 06:05 is funny to me. My office sends out an automated appointment reminder text to patients and they can reply "yes" to automatically confirm. But if they reply "no" we have to go in and manually cancel their appointment and ask if they would like to reschedule. So the first text is automated but then any response you send and any subsequent texts are from a real person.

Pregnancy is like a microwave. If you have one or two hot pockets in a microwave at the same time it's the same 2-3 minutes. If you place one hot pocket and THEN the other, each hot pocket will stay in there for 2-3 minutes.
You obviously have never experienced the load capacity problem microwaves are known for. The more food you are trying to heat up, the longer it generally takes. That's why, for example, most Hot Pockets actually add a minute or more for that second Hot Pocket. I do think women's bellies should have a disclaimer printed on them like Hot Pocket boxes that say "For Best Results, Cook One At A Time."

As a fan of D&D&D, and through that a fan of James, it makes me so happy to hear one of my favorite voice-over artists (Damien) talk about Dead Meat.
I decided to do the math for this one (35:48) just to see how much you would be saving if you chose Option A. if you take 1,000,000 and divide it by 50 you get 20,000 which means that if you spent 50 dollars from your 1,000,000 dollars every month it would last for 20,000 months or 1,666 and a bit years. Obviously this isn't perfect but it's more than enough to see you would be saving so much more money if you went with Option A.
TLDR: After doing the math I found that option A here (35:48) is over 10x better.
I came here to say this. Only I worded it as "At $50 per month, to earn a million, you'd have to live 1,666 years and then some." Also, with a million now, I can turn around and put that money to work and likely come out with a lot more than $50 a month. As opposed to only getting $50 at a time, and having to spend it on survival.
Yeah, to make it equal you would need to make option b to be around 1054.86 a mouth if you live for 79 (us average life span) and you make1,000,007.28 if you start when you were born.

What the doctor meant was "are you sexually active?" It's confusing if you don't understand the language, but it's a way doctors will professionally ask if someone is sexually active. I'm not a woman so I'm not sure what you need to do to see a gynecologist, especially in China (I live in US), but I do believe that was genuinely just a language barrier there.
Depends, but most women see a gynecologist for a PAP test, (testing for diseases including cancer), or for birth control, etc. And yeah that's the common language from most doctors to avoid being rude, but this doctor straight up said, "you're unmarried, you don't need a test", which is false! All women and girls, sexually active or not, need a PAP test from 18+, as it's not just about sex, but also cancer prevention.
