Cesar Romero had a reputation for being quite gracious and respectful with women, so I was not surprised to learn he went out of his way to make Lee Meriweather not only feel welcome on the set, but to help her hit her marks.
I saw this when I was 5 yrs old in 1966 and about 20 or 30 times afterward thru the years. One of my fav campy movies. This channel always takes me home, thanks Rick!
It was a treat to see the villains together and as I child then, was worried too many of them would harm Batman and Robin; not surprised about Mr. Romero; always the gentleman.
As always, thanks for a great video. Videos are always a treat coming from you. I own this movie, but I haven’t watched it in quite a long time. I’ll have to make time for that one of these days. Keep up the great work.
Are you kidding? Have I seen it? Of course! I saw it in the Parkview Theater in Pasadena, TX when it first came out!!! I was either 5 or 6 at the time. Mom dropped me off to see it, and then went shopping at Foley's and Sears. Parents could do that sort of thing back then. She also used to drop me off at the Capitan Theater, also in Pasadena, while she went shopping. There, I saw The Valley of Gwangi, Dracula Has Risen From the Dead (Christopher Lee), and many others. Oh...those were the days.
An excellent episode of the Batman television series would have every on-screen villain from that time together simultaneously. This would include both Riddlers and all 3 Catwomen.
Cesar Romero was such an old pro. I think the veteran actors always bring such a professional presence to sets. I think it's hilarious that I heard Romero's actual laugh was forever altered after playing the Joker.
I have the blu-ray of the movie, and not only is Cesar Romero’s mustache more pronounced underneath his Joker makeup, but Burgess Meredith’s Penguin suit looks like it’s made of feathers.
Totally loved this movie. So much fun and packed full of camp. I remember first watching it when it aired on ABCs Afternoon movie during the Summer back in the 70 and into the 80s. They also aired movies like Godzilla, Doctor Who movies with Peter Cushing, and even the Planet of the Ape movies. Sadly the afternoon movies were retired once talk show became the norm.
I noticed in the movie that Lee Meriwether's Catwoman was a more straight-forward villain who wanted to kill off the Dynamic Duo as much as the other super criminals, while Julie Newmar's was constantly flirting with Batman, trying unsuccessfully to either seduce him or do away with him!
I haven't seen this film since the 70's. It is completely forgetable. I'm not surprised at how nice Cesar Romero is. Shirley Temple said something similar when they were filming "Wee Willie Winkie". He was so nice to her, he would even slip her candy when her mother wasn't looking.
Great to hear how they all liked each other and worked well together. Lee was ideally cast as Catwoman. She was as good in the role as Julie Newmar, and funny as hell, to boot!
My first thought was I don't remember the movie, much less have love it. Then you said submarine and I thought "sometimes you just can't get rid of a bomb." That line and the whole scene was my kind of silly.
Lee Meriwether will always be remember for being on Barnaby Jones show that had Buddy Espen in the title role. You would love to see the Catwoman and Jed Campett on the show? I have to say is Well Doggie to that question myself and everyone have a nice day anyway for sure!😊
This movie was a great complement to the show and vice versa. To be eyewitness to all the backstage banter and onstage filming would have been amazing! Every great movie hero (or in this case, heroes) needs an equally great villain and Gorshin, Meriweather, and Romero were the right fit! So glad they all got along respectively. Great video! Question for you Rick: if you could pick one Batman villain to portray in the classic Batman show, who would it be?
I saw that film at the cinema soon after it was released in 1966 and I must admit I was a little disappointed. I was 12 at the time and although I enjoyed the vivid colours (we still had a B&W television set at the time), I expected more action, more gadgets and more excitement. The film seemed to have a much slower pace than the 30-minutes tv episodes.
Those 3 men were true gentlemen, and apparently were respectful and gracious toward women. I saw the movie when it first ran in the theater, and watched it nearly every time it was on TV. I still believe Frank Gorshin was the best Riddler. I also enjoyed the TV show and watched it regularly, even in re-runs. I bought my first Batman comic book for12 cents back in 1966, with Poison Ivy on the cover.
I'm a Batfan, 57 years, and going strong. I HAVE two autographed pics. of the ORIGINAL "Catwoman" Julie Newmar. I have the complete Batman TV series. I'm a great fan of the Batman TV series.
I did see the movie 🎬 But it has been SO long. 😂 These actors are MY Batman, Robin and villians. Thanks 😊 for sharing how kind Cesar Romero was to Lee Meriwether. That's great. When I was little, I couldn't figure out why they put makeup over his mustache. Why he didn't shave. 😂 Thanks Rick 😊 🙏
Always a good time to learn some things about Batman, especially Batman: The Movie. Cesar Romero had a great reputation when it came to women, so hearing all this just solidifies that. Great video Rick, I hope you’re doing well. Keep up the great work and take care!
I love the movie it was very campy is this version of Batman was known for it was a little different look I liked it I guess I wish they would have done a few more movies
I had the delight of meeting Lee Meriwether at a friend's place years ago when he hosted a TV party with several of her guest appearances. She's very charming and knows how to interact with fans like myself! Haha! Was the movie Catwoman's name as difficult as Frank Gorshin's other Batman role of boxer Mushy Nebuchadnezzar - the name the Joker and his minions seemed to love saying, Rick?!
It always annoys me that Julie Newmar isn't playing Catwoman in the movie. The excuse was she had other commitments at the time, but being absent from the last season of the TV show as well, just highlights that there was something else going on. Lee Meriweather and Earth Kitt were ''okay' in the role, but Juile Newmar will always be this series Catwoman.
This is my all time favorite movie and I have a standard version and blue-ray version of the movie and it wouldn’t be surprising that hubie kerns was Adam’s stuntman for the movie like he was on the series and Adam did most of the batcycle driving in the movie cause he normally road a motorcycle to the set on the series according to Burt and it’s not the same batcycle from the series cause the series version is mostly black and the movie version is mostly white and the movie batcycle is the only version ever made into merchandise and a lot lot ov the series sets were reused for the movie like Wayne manor the batcave and police headquarters
I loved the 60s Batman movie.. all the iconic actors.. This movie is great reminder of my childhood , I'm 67... Wonderful fond memories
Cesar Romero had a reputation for being quite gracious and respectful with women, so I was not surprised to learn he went out of his way to make Lee Meriweather not only feel welcome on the set, but to help her hit her marks.
I remember seeing this movie at the theater when I was little. I served Cesar Romero champagne at a French Quarter hotel back in the day(1981).
The only real Batman!
I saw this when I was 5 yrs old in 1966 and about 20 or 30 times afterward thru the years. One of my fav campy movies. This channel always takes me home, thanks Rick!

@@bejoyful We are lucky they did not dehydrate them.
Batman and that movie were it for me when I was a kid. Still very funny and very well done! Shark repellent has become iconic.
I really like this movie as much as the show, the movie shows more detail of the batcave lifts.
Adam west and Burt Ward ! Are my favorite Batman and Robin!
I Truly Love that there was The Batman 1966 Video for My Birthday.
As always, thanks for a great video. Videos are always a treat coming from you. I own this movie, but I haven’t watched it in quite a long time. I’ll have to make time for that one of these days. Keep up the great work.

I've seen the series shows and the movies, enjoyed both. The actors were meant to play these parts.
Love that movie!
An excellent episode of the Batman television series would have every on-screen villain from that time together simultaneously. This would include both Riddlers and all 3 Catwomen.
I'm probably the only person to have this experience, but I initially thought that Cat was Julie Newmar
So, I guess you can say Lee did a great job
I saw this movie as a child and I love it to this day. Trust me I love the series but I did enjoy seeing all of them together.
Cesar Romero was such an old pro. I think the veteran actors always bring such a professional presence to sets.
I think it's hilarious that I heard Romero's actual laugh was forever altered after playing the Joker.
She was in two episodes of the TV show also. I loved her in MISSION IMPOSSABLE and STAR TREK too.
I have the blu-ray of the movie, and not only is Cesar Romero’s mustache more pronounced underneath his Joker makeup, but Burgess Meredith’s Penguin suit looks like it’s made of feathers.

Love this classic show ultimate Batman show thanks for sharing

They are awesome actors a great movie

Love the movie
I met Adam West and Frank Gorshin at a collectors show in Chicago I got their autographs on a poster for that movie and the VHS tape
I actually Bought the VHS copy of this Movie
Yes I've seen it several times. I like it just as well as the series.
My first thought was I don't remember the movie, much less have love it. Then you said submarine and I thought "sometimes you just can't get rid of a bomb." That line and the whole scene was my kind of silly.
I use the line "some days you just can't get rid of a bomb" every day at work. My coworkers have no idea what the reference is
A tremendously entertaining movie!
I have never liked the dark turn taken with the comic book super heroes.
Lee Meriwether will always be remember for being on Barnaby Jones show that had Buddy Espen in the title role. You would love to see the Catwoman and Jed Campett on the show? I have to say is Well Doggie to that question myself and everyone have a nice day anyway for sure!😊
Lee Meriwether is an American treasure, approaching 90 years young, Miss America 1955 for heavens sake.
@secretchannel4747 I didn't she going to be 90 years old.
I've seen this movie at least 100 times. But yeah I slightly prefer the show to the movie.
This movie is still fantastic, even to this day.
Was it the Santa Barbara Pier or the Santa Monica Pier? The 2 locations are I think about 100 miles apart.
I liked the movie. Thank you for the information.
I saw the movie when it first came out in the 60s. I was a young boy and this lit up my imagination which I fondly remember to this day.
Love the movie, but wish Julie Newmar was in it - she was the best Cat Woman.
If you have kids, show them this movie.
This movie was a great complement to the show and vice versa. To be eyewitness to all the backstage banter and onstage filming would have been amazing! I have a friend who knew Mr. Romero and yes, he described him to me the exact same way. All class.
Those 3 men were true gentlemen, and apparently were respectful and gracious toward women. I saw the movie when it first ran in the theater, and watched it nearly every time it was on TV. Some days you just can't rid of a bomb! LOL
"some days ya just can't get rid of a bomb"
I adore this movie, the first time I saw this movie was 1974 and I was 7 and to me it was the greatest thing ever Batman and Robin in living color
Lee and the another catwoman was on the original star trek with riddler and Batgirl to
it was well done. i like the series just a tad more. "some days, you just cant get rid of a bomb!"
Great movie. Saw it first run at the theater in 1966. I was about 12 years old. Being a child in the 1960s was super fun!😅
The submarine fight scene is the best Bat fight ever!!
I'm a Batfan, 57 years, and going strong. I HAVE two autographed pics. of the ORIGINAL "Catwoman" Julie Newmar. I have the complete Batman TV series. I'm a great fan of the Batman TV series.
I saw this in the Theater when I was little

For me, only Batman 1966 was the only Real Batman. Look at the guest stars. All top stars.
I loved the movie and the series equally. They are both great!
Always a good time to learn some things about Batman, especially Batman: The Movie. Cesar Romero had a great reputation when it came to women, so hearing all this just solidifies that. Great video Rick, I hope you’re doing well. Keep up the great work and take care!
I always loved Cesar as the Joker but for some reason I loved his role in the movie "Oceans Eleven" too.
I loved Lee Meriweather as a she devil in the Twilight Zone.
That was Julie Newmar.
I love the movie it was very campy is this version of Batman was known for it was a little different look I liked it I guess I wish they would have done a few more movies

Campier than the series, if possible. But I never missed a minute!!😊

I liked the film as much as the series.... still think it would of been better with Julie Newmars Catwoman alongside Penguin..Joker and Riddler

Julie newmar owned the catwoman role...but meriweather was a looker to be sure ...she was no catwoman though.
Beautiful woman, but for me the best Catwoman will ALWAYS be Julie Newmar.
@@yukon065 purrrrrfectly said
I always hated the end of the movie
Meow!
I'm sorry, but your video title is completely misleading.😡
Not at all! This video shows how he acted
