@azertu2u2 to calculate the height of a wave you usually measure the face from top to bottom. Some people measure waves from the back which in turn gives you a smaller measurment because the face is bigger than the back of the wave.

Laird did it at Egypt in december 2007, when brett lickle was gashed. everyone else was at Mavericks and Ghost tree. they were the 1st 100 foot waves ridden...no fanfare, no cameramen, just the best big wave riders in their back yard

I agree, if Ross Clarke Jones says it's a 100ft, it's a hundred foot. But mate he got towed into that, you don't see the jet ski cause it's long gone behind that set.

I originally thought this was all a ridiculous joke, being played by the world's elite surfers, then I met Miguel del Toro. He was so beautiful that a rich woman's jewelry would easily get lost in his smile. We sat on the course at Pebble Beach and watched him surf a 60 foot face (fakey)! Miguel is el hombre mas interasante del mundo.

Can someone tell me how they calculate the height? I am real sure this wave was no more than 20 meters which is 20+ x little man in this vid.
They've shrunken the surfer and slowed the wave down to make it look bigger as it breaks. If you look at 1.42 you can see that the breaking wave gets obscured by the blue of the wave around the surfer that wasn't cut out of the shrinked image.
I agree with most of you, it what ever you make it to be, it Impressive non the less, you cant take that way form any one. they were there, they made the move and they had to live with it... good or bad (in this case good is a definite understatement)

Just to clarify from older top comments on this video this is fake haha. "Del toro" translates to "bull" (get it? since this video is a RED BULL vid?) Someone else had told us the Kelly Slater bit was from a completely different video on a different subject and surfer altogether so that bit was edited in for good fun. C'mon, you think Ross Clarke would actually say "that's the first 100 foot wave... ridden by a Mexican." Yeah jay-kay. And really....look up this "Miguel Del Toro"...Doesn't exist.
Also, Jamie said "no one was even paddling out..." If the swell was that big, no one actually COULD paddle out.

@Galack I beleve it is real , Patagonia shure receives some of the most powerfull waves on the planet , wind , waves and current circulate the entire southern hemisphere , it's the greates fetch .. i mean it's the only place that the waves totaly roam uninterrupted around the globe in their cold harsh realm..don't you agree !! :)
