Thank you for your information on the Corky lure. I am a rookie fisherman, just started earlier this year. I watched your Corky videos and learned to throw and retrieve the Corky. 2 Trips ago, I was using a Corky and was not having any luck. I remembered how your said to retrieve it and I stayed with it and caught an 18" trout. The corky was a Tequila Sunrise. Thanks for your videos!!
Really love the tuning of the Corky videos I've shared it with tons of people who are switching to them year around with me. Love the videos, since I'm socialmedialess I get all your good shit through the youtubes
Thanks for the solid Corky Fishing Tips. And, I agree, I can always crank a reel slower. Fish mostly West GBay out of Chocolate in the Winter, usually nobody else is out there when it's cold, windy, and nasty; Hmmm. Congrats to you and your Honey on the new baby, a new PB! Take care your family, be safe and stay healthy. Merry Christmas, and Tight Lines !!!
Great video. I’d like to see your outlook on fishing for trout during different times of the year when they aren’t feeding , like after the bite dies off after a minor or major where they move to or if they stay where they were feeding and just lay low and how you approach fishing for them
Merry Christmas Capt! thank you for answering my question(s)! Really appreciate the follow up and another awesome video! I can’t wait to head south for a weekend and for the Year of The Turd to be over with! Looong story but finally got my boat back, 2019 24 mod-v shallow sport, lets just say three idiots (maybe idiot is too harsh how about three non logical thinking humans) fishing at the ramp, dark, with dead shrimp and braided line cost my 1k, 8 hours driving for 0 hours of fishing and my boat in the shop for a month. Braid and lower unit seals are not a good combo...
Man glad I found your channel. Even though you fish the west coast and I fish the East I still like your take on things. I’m also jealous of how easy you talk in front of a camera. I enjoy making RUclips videos but I really struggle talking to the camera. Tight lines Capt.
Another awesome video...Just took me alittle while to watch this one with all of the holiday stuff going on. Hope yall had a great christmas and time to get back to the best part of the fishing year!
Hey Capt Caleb, my Buddy Trident Fishing has been talking you up saying your the pro when it comes to fishing corkys. So I went out and got a few. Watched some of your videos and we went out and caught fish non stop for hours on them. Probably 40-50 trout and a few nice a lot reds for bonus. Here’s the question. Out of all the trout we caught we only had 6 keepers out of the 40+ fish. Now we were fishing a deep hole probably about 5-6 foot or so surround by flats. We were drift fishing and had to work the lures sort of fast but the bite was non stop. Do you think fishing the same area but wading instead of drifting and slowing down the retrieve would result in larger trout or are we just in an area where there is probably mostly smaller trout??? Also, man I love the channel. Super solid videos on everything you do. Thanks in advance if you get to respond the the video. The question and answer videos are pretty slick 👍
How often do you fish the intracoastal/river? Maybe the bays haven’t been producing or the usual spots are getting crowded. Any tips for working plastics in the deeper moving water?
Hey caleb, thanks for taking time to answer your viewers, and that guy rad reeling is a youtuber , used to watch him but he is such a Narcissist and hates on other channels , lost interest. On the corkys, lately I’ve been catching nothing but flounder on them , you think I might be fishing it to slow that it’s staying on the bottom to long. Hope my question makes sense.
@@CaptCalebTV man it’s funny, i went to a new spot to try the corky and i caught two 19” flounder and still no luck on trout. I think its just my luck. But I’m not giving up on searching for big trout on the fatboy.
Here's a question when fishing a new big trout once have committed to it what are you looking for to make you confident that there are big trout around. Thanks and merry Christmas
Sometimes it’s just knowing the area has the potential for big fish... then it’s bait, water color, movement, etc. Again, it’s a gamble and just trying to hedge the bet. It may be little trout. It may be redfish. It may be nothing. It’s mostly the willingness to stay and see....
Hey bud I love the videos that you put out they are awesome. I would love some more on water videos of you catching, casting, and more of your secrets lol. On a serious note I know you mention the hooks but what about size and brand of split ring to replace on corkys I have some that need to be exchanged out because they have rust. Thank you for your help. FYI I ordered the hooks just pending the split rings
Capt Caleb, do you bend the floating Fat Boy (nose and tail) like you do on the regular Fat Boy? Most helpful videos always, appreciate your access to instruction they provide.
@@CaptCalebTVthank you. One quick question from all your great videos on retrieving Fat Boys, do you recommend a fast gear ratio reel like 7:1 or more, for your rod-forward retrieve versus those who use a rod-upward retrieve? Thanks in advance and keep up the fine tips series.
As with most plugs and twitch baits, treble hooks make a mess of things. Do you think changing them out with inline hooks would change the action or hook sets on the fatboy?
hey man love the videos, I was fishing in one of the east bay marshes down in matagorda yesterday and didn’t catch much lol, had a question about that area, is wading is east bay mainly super soft mud like it is by the marshes?
There is a little of everything except grass. Plenty of firm sand and plenty of soft mud. Hard to explain, but as you do it more and more you get where you can move around easier. I kinda slide my feet and don’t ever stomp down when I’m in mud. Hard to explain tho.
I hate that song. Anyways, awesome video. You answered some of my questions on corkies spinning when they get to the boat. Pretty cool of you to make time for us when you’re on vacation. I’m sure that took some planning.
I’ve been fishing for the past couples do days in easy Matty and I’ve been throwing the hod head and i haven’t been able to find quality fish just a bunch of dink’s any suggestions?
East Matty is a feast or famine bay. Likely the better ones weren’t eating, the timing of where you were at was off, or you were just around that size of trout.
Could you help me out? I’m trying to find a rod for around 160 bait casting for corkys just don’t know what action and power to get what do you think Then I would like a rod for a mr17 could you please help me pick a rod for both of theese applications?
Hahahaha. I’ve had the same feeling. That’s the decisions that make being a guide tough. Do you leave those smaller fish that are entertainment to find bigger fish yet risk not catching another fish all day? I usually do...
Caleb, not to sound like a “ash” but your lighting is awful. Don’t know if it’s just me but I honestly can’t stand it. I love CCTV though and enjoying listening to it lol..
I’ve noticed this when I watch on my phone. Especially if I’m watching from a darker area. The phone will automatically darken the screen, as well. If I turn my brightness up on my phone, it makes a world of difference. I have 2 LED panels lighting it, so it has light to the point of almost being over exposed, if your device will brighten itself. Hopefully this helps! Maybe someday I’ll have a pro studio, but for now, it’s what I’ve got to work with!
Best intro so far, glad it’s not just me that gets stoked over that song 😂
Facts people watching you work a fish n it breaks off lol. Good stuff

When the wire comes out, buy some “mend it” soft plastic glue and dab it on the nose and above the treble hook. Country boy will survive!

Can u tell me some spots to fish in the winter cause im not haveing no luck in the winter in the Galveston area
Are we talking about the Sand Bar in Galveston or the one in Cabo? Still asking for a friend.
Lol. Figured that was coming. 😂
How do you properly store the Paul browns so they don't get all gummy?

It loves you right back!

What is the best way to secure your boat to a dock in windy conditions?
Don’t let people named Wilson tie it up!

I’m not mad at him. I thought the comment was funny. If I didn’t like it, it would be very clear I didn’t, or I wouldn’t have brought it up!
I’ve caught a lot of good flounder on corky. I bet it just has more to do with the area you’re fishing in.

Capt Caleb, do you bend the floating Fat Boy (nose and tail) like you do on the regular Fat Boy? Most helpful videos always, appreciate your access to instruction they provide.
I do, but not as aggressively

Oh yeah I bought 3 paul browns
For you use a small weight above you litter with you kork
Captain it’s “ Carol of Bells”
What are your thoughts on the broken back corky?Would you include links to all the baits you use?
Let’s do a vid on it!
As with most plugs and twitch baits, treble hooks make a mess of things. Do you think changing them out with inline hooks would change the action or hook sets on the fatboy?
I know some people do it. I don’t, personally. Can’t really intelligently speak on that topic.
Also, which Laguna medium lite rid is your favorite? I love their 6’6” liquid rods but wouldn’t mind spoiling myself to a higher end model.
Light Texas Wader 2
hey man love the videos, I was fishing in one of the east bay marshes down in matagorda yesterday and didn’t catch much lol, had a question about that area, is wading is east bay mainly super soft mud like it is by the marshes?

@@CaptCalebTV thanks for the help!
Is it just me or when I bend my cork it still spins in circles... can you pls help
Send me a pic of a corky you’ve bent on Facebook.

Grinch! Past Caleb told future Caleb that a video needed to be put out while future Caleb was becoming present Caleb.
With the weather getting cooler, what rod set up are you going with?
I’m still using my light Texas wader 2. ML with fast tip. When the water gets sub 50s is when I’ll get out the LTW1 that has a moderate tip.
How do you store your Corkies? Mine get slimy in my tackle box after a few months. Is there any way to get those back to semi new?
Easy. Soapy water and a brush. Back to mew.
I’ve been fishing for the past couples do days in easy Matty and I’ve been throwing the hod head and i haven’t been able to find quality fish just a bunch of dink’s any suggestions?

Then I would like a rod for a mr17 could you please help me pick a rod for both of theese applications?
I prefer a medium light with a fast tip, most of the time.
Is there a specific rod you would recommend around 160 for corkys
I no longer believe corkies are monster trout lures near as much. I threw a corky and caught literally near 40 10-14 inchers every single cast😭
And, you stayed so long you finally caught 40 ? LOL
