I broke my Curado 200e7 complexly down for the first time since purchasing 12 years ago after very little maintenance other than a few light greasing once a year. The thing still casted and performed like a dream even though the all 3 bearings were rusted thoroughly. I guess that speaks to the durability of those older Curados. After new bearings and carbon fiber drag washers shes back to brand new. Great video Capt. Caleb, thanks man!
Thank you, thank you. Great tip on photographing each step of removing the handle down to the drive shaft to get to that bearing. Excellently useful tips and vid.
Great information. Nice to get solid reliable advice to dispell so many alternative methods regarding maintaining a reel after a day of being on the water. Once again, clear and great info Thank you.
You always nail the videos on the right day. I literally just cleaned a few of my reels and always wondered how is the best way to take care of them when I’m done wading. Great timing and even greater video! Keep it up buddy
Great video and i was putting electrical tape on my reels and the glue from the tape will corrode your spool. I have found several people on RUclips that shows how to put your line on and it will not spin on the reel. It works great. Just something for you to look at. This was my first video of yours and I like that you are informing others. Thank you!
I use something similar to Salt Away, called Salt Off and it works great. Light mist on the reel and rod, let set for 5-10 mins and use a spray bottle with water and spray it off. Then get a clean towel and dry it off.
I won’t mention the sound like the other guys did. They should learn how to turn up the volume. Seriously though this video will be super helpful to me. I am the worst about reel maintenance. Thanks.
It’s tough when I’m editing in a studio with a big sound system to know what it’s gonna sound like through a phone. I’ll go look at the levels on this one so hopefully I can translate it to what a phone will do after upload.
Great Video, thanks for taking the time to make it and share information with all of us. One question I have- in the video you both talked about reducing the drag when not being used. Would this same principle apply to our spinning reels? Do we need to reduce the drag on it as it sits in storage until we can get back down there and saltwater fish? I know you have a lot going but I hope you and Mike get some time to cover some basic maintenance on Spinning reels like you did for bait-casting reels. Thanks again
Great video & nailed it as always. Guess I can quit hosing my Lew’s reels like I’m putting out a 🔥. I know it’s a little price but prob my favorite is the newer Hyper Mag. I like it even better than the lew’s Lite, Custom Lite & ProTI. Great all around reels.
Sorry Caleb . couldn't hear the vid . But i was at A&A today and loaded up . Want to let everyone know that don't ,that they are not in a shortage of ANYTHING.... like our regular big stores . And they will be repairing a surf rod for me soon !!!
The Lew’s and Shimano manuals talk about where to oil but I don’t remember them mentioning the one way bearing under the star drag. I have several Pro Ti’s and it is so hard to get the side plate off. Even the AA pro had a little trouble. Any advice on getting it off?
Capt Caleb TV that is back in july i caught my 2 first reds with shrimp and a poping cork on the surf it is very fun but i hate having to clean all my rods after
That is ReelX. I’ve used Royal Purple and another called Rocket Fuel. The latter is kind of a specialty brand, I suppose.... I think I got it online the ReelX should be readily available, however.
best video ever .. gonna send this to some friends and really gonna help. thanks!!

I also really like that tip of using non-stick plumbers pipe tape around the spool to lock down braid instead of several layers of mono backing.

Thank you.
Great video! I’m sure a lot of people will learn some new stuff from this one I know I did.
Thanks for the pointers & taking the time to talk with us. Great video!

Better to be lucky than good!
Another great video Caleb. Keep em coming.
Thanks for the video. Always, enjoy them!
Another great video and Mike and AA is the best!

Gears video sir, thank you and your friends for all the great content!
Caleb, another damn good video!!
Like always Captain great information.
And thank you for that extra tip on the salt away for fishing lures and reels..
👍💯🙏
really enjoyed this one can't wait to see what you come out with next. I really didn't see a problem with the audio I could hear very clearly.
Outstanding tips and content 🤘
Awesome video! Really glad you did this one.
Nice Video, I learned I have been doing some stuff wrong & now I can fix it. I wish I could take my reels there but 5 weeks is a little to long.

Great info!!!
Really good stuff. I went to the AA shop recently. very nice. I would like to see this on a spinning reel as well.

I’ll certainly do that! Spinners are kind of a mystery to me, too. I would back off the drag on them just to be safe.
Another good video. Thanks!!!
Another great vid cap!
Good info bro. Thanks!
Always good info thanks 🙏 🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣

Not a Nascar or golf fan but I love the comment "two I can recommend" 👍
Great video, Capt. On the Worm Gear should I apply some grease or a drop of oil?
I usually use oil
I recognized that hat right away 👌
You should shoot a video about spinning a reels, some weekend warriors use those.
Love the videos with Mike. Do you use ceramic bearings in your reels? Thanks!
I do not. I have used them in the past and there just wasn’t enough upside for me to keep using them.
Yall clean reels with that Jameson?

I have never taken a Pro Ti apart.
Can you do a part 2 with spinning reel?
Yes sir
Good vid...just need to work on that audio, pal.
where should i fish in matagorda to catch a pretty good amount of trout btw i don’t have a boat
Surf if it lays down, or walk in the south shoreline would be my guesses.
Capt Caleb TV that is back in july i caught my 2 first reds with shrimp and a poping cork on the surf it is very fun but i hate having to clean all my rods after
Please do a rod and reel review there’s not much about laguna rods on RUclips
I’ll address this on this weeks video! In the meantime, call me! My number is on Captcaleb.com
What brand of oil was he using?
That is ReelX. I’ve used Royal Purple and another called Rocket Fuel. The latter is kind of a specialty brand, I suppose.... I think I got it online the ReelX should be readily available, however.
Capt Caleb TV what reel was that?
Lews Inshore
@@RubenHernandez-mz2sj Lew's inshore speed spool LFS
Looking for new reel had good luck with shimano want to try lees out what do u think?
Lews
There’s different strokes for different folks, but I really like Lews. They hold up and keep on tickin!
On it. The next step mic is about $250... will see what I can do.
Great video thanks for sharing the great information but you need to work on your sound
Don't try and fix one yourself, you will lose little screws and never get it back together correctly. Ask me how I know?
Before I knew better, I would toss them in the dishwasher. SMH.
🤣. Just use the spotless rinse and you’ll be good.
