Well, the likely changes for next year is gonna be replacing Sm4sh and Injustice with Smash 2018 and MK11. The question is, will Cross-tag battle last more than a year? Because it really looks unlikely that MvCI is gonna kick anything out for 2019.
Versus Omnibus That's good that the game is getting some love. I mentioned it because Arcsys has been helping them with publishing their games, so I was hoping they would help. Seems like they are putting all the money for GGXrd Rev 2, since Atlus and Rooster Teeth are probably sponsoring BBCTB and Namco is for DBZF.
Because people don't like the roster, and the heads of MVCI don't try to save it or show enthusiasm to improve it. If they add the Proper characters and use the Marvel movies to promote the upcoming DLC with cool game trailers I guarantee it will be save. Street Fighter V made a comeback, I know MVCI can do it because it's a better Frenchise.
You're telling me that the FGC just makes up their own shit rules for what gets into EVO? GASP! People still wonder why the FGC isn't taken seriously by everybody. Also, if Smash is gonna have it's own thing that will be considered the "real" finals by fans, why even have Melee at EVO? Is it because the Melee community is trash?
The "FGC" doesn't make up what goes into EVO. The owners of Evolution do. Every organization's owners make up their own rules on what gets into anything they run... what does that have to do with communities outside of any particular community "taking it seriously"? lol. The International Olympic Committee comes up with their own rules and decide whatever it wants to be in the Olympics. Dreamhack decides what is going to be at Dreamhack. The list goes on. There's no external, objective law ordained from god that organizations need to include or exclude games or sports against the desires of the owners of that organization. Football fans dont create the rules on who gets into the NFL or the league structure. Or the communities of: Soccer, Basketball, League of Legends, Starcraft, Counter Strike, Overwatch... the owners of organizations who want to run leagues and tournaments for those things do. What the communities for those sports and games DO decide is the authority and legitimacy of those organizations by giving them attendance, views, and revenue. The FGC is no different than literally every other community in that regard.
William Pounds, dude, if the FGC didn't decide what goes into EVO, I don't think Melee would be there all the time. The owners of EVO aren't in control of shit. The bare minimum effort of organization is all they put in. To compare any of these tournaments to an NFL game or a pro soccer game, or the freaking Olympics is a joke.
Melee is there because LOADS of people enter and LOADS of people watch it. Its kind of a no-brainer to include the game that consistently makes you tons of money.
How the fuck are the owners of an organization not the people who decide what is going into an event they hold? Do you even think about what you're typing? The fact that you hold something like the NFL or FIFA above EVO is what's a joke. They're all just groups of people who want to organize an event for something and people watch them or don't. I'm sure plenty of gamers don't take the Olympics or NASCAR seriously. Why the fuck would we? We don't give a shit about those sports or games. You seriously have this whole thing misconstrued. No organization that runs events or tournaments for games and sports have any inherent prestige, authority or legitimacy but they ARE the ones that ultimately decide how THEIR events are ran and what is included in them and what they have to weigh is what they personally find important to showcase while responding to what the relevant communities want so that they'll financially support them and GIVE them that legitimacy and none of these organizations are inherently taken seriously by anyone OUTSIDE of that community. Event organizers and the communities they service are co-operators. You seem to have an issue with the fact that a corporation that puts on a major fighting game tournament changes what precise communities it caters to. But who cares? The FGC has more large scale tournaments than ever ran by different organizations. EVO is legitimate for the people its legitimate to and its not to those its not. That doesn't mean its inherently a joke or the most important thing ever, it just is what it is; a well executed tournament for whatever games it decides to support in any given year.
OK so while marvel may not be the shiny star it has been in the past , it's still a good fighting game and doesn't deserve to not be at Evo especially since not only is it a good GAME it's made by CAPCOM and evo is a CAPCOM event. It not being there just sounds ludicrous
Yeah, I'm not a fan of Infinite but it and KoF getting shafted because the EVO organisers wanna keep ArcSys happy by putting their DLC platform on stage is disgusting and pathetic. And I agree with Woolie (first time for everything), it's hypocritical. Heck, even more than that: it's not gonna be interesting to watch, both because the game looks miserable and it'll come out so close to the tournament that nobody will have time to get good.
“Melee will be there forever”
Man this aged poorly.
I find anime fighter more fun to play and watch anyway
the girls are cuter too
Just remember, Mvci has had no updates or even news of updates.
Why mainstage a game that isn't getting updated or popular enough to warrant it?

Im Sm18sh has some of the popular Melee mechanics, we may see a slow decline of Melee
DeKu Skrub Yeah... that’s never going to happen...
Eh, I dunno. we'll see
RavenCloak13 That comment aged badly.
Man. These guys are out of date when it comes to Cross Tag Battle.
Lol, they are so salty at BBCTB getting in while Marvel gets left behind.
Why doesn't Under Night have Cross Tag's place, considering it came out in February.

Isaac Lopes the funny thing is, even though UNIEL isn’t in EVO, it’s still in BBCTG. Same with Persona 4 Arena
MVCI killed itself, but Evo2018 BURIED it
I feel like the salt is so real against Blazblue lol.
How is injustice 2 there but not marvel?
The Atlanta scene is strangely huge for it down here. You can almost always find a tourney set up on weekends down here
Because people don't like the roster, and the heads of MVCI don't try to save it or show enthusiasm to improve it. Cuz injustice 2 is better lol
MvCI is a soulless cash grab with a terrible roster, voice, and art direction.
Man melee is lame.
matt sounds bored and annoyed in every single one of these old podcast clips

Because Melee and Sm4sh get the 2nd and 3rd largest number of entrants at EVO and Joey's gotta make ends.

its a statement
One of the reasons it isn't in is that Capcom or Marvel aren't sponsoring the game.

Oh I totally get it, Rooster Teeth's fanbase is like a cult and has been for a while now.
Oh BOY, five extra days of practice in this sub-par game.
"As long as my RWBY waifus are in it I don't care how bad the game is."
Still it is only 20 bucks for all 20 of the dlc characters which is much more affordable than SFV dlc.
RWBY wasn't gonna save that sinking ship.
