Hopefully Capcom will learn from the failures of their recent games, and improve. This whole “game as a platform” business hasn’t been kind to them. They should stop focusing on this story mode stuff, and just make their games look and run well online with substantial amounts of content at release. Their gameplay is still top notch, but their presentation has to step it up.
They need to take a cue from SNK and do "dream match" style games with no plot and focus on the gameplay and characters. SNK's games tend to be well-balanced and have few issues. The sales' numbers back it up.
Mexican Uppercuts I still believe in the idea of "game as a platform" and always will, it's just that no one seems to understand how it works. Good graphics that rival MvC3's, nice stages, fun gameplay, and a nice diverse roster of let's say 20 and then expand. Of course make it cheap, make a season pass and I believe people would've accepted it.
That's because of X-men films being part of FOX (not Marvel-division of Disney). So they ditched X-men because of it, because they didn't want to give FOX spotlight. Thus they went for Avengers aspect. It's an insult for fans, but they had... reasons to remove it. Not necessarily good ones, but reasons.
The first misstep MvC:I took imo was kicking off Ryota Niitsuma from the producer chair. A guy who was pivotal in the development of games like Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Street Fighter IV, and Marvel vs Capcom 3. He's responsible for the genius marketing cinematic trailers for MvC 3, the cel-shaded comic book artstyle for TvC and UMvC 3, and the fresh unique character roster in MvC 3. By replacing him they removed one of their strongest asset from the Marvel vs Capcom franchise.
I was so excited to get into this game and when it came out it was like a bundle of gross meat just fell outta the sky into my hands. I dropped it in the hopes it'd stand back up as a better game.
Giordan Diodato nah it’s marvel’s fault. They’ve been giving X-Men shit in recent years. They pushed the FF to the side and it was fortunate spidey didn’t get the same treatment
mariotaz don't blame anything else, Just blame Issac Perlmutter(for making even mainstream comic marvel universes other than earth-199999 resembling mcu)
Andrew G well marvel is making the Spider-Man game and there is nothing wrong with it don’t blame “Disney” capcom is the one to blame, they have a dozen of awesome characters and they choose some wack ones
trust me i would love to beat the crap of that stupid Disney mouse to the death honestly!!! thanls for killing good game franchises and devs too goodbye Factor five or decent star wars complete games thanks to Disney!!!
Yeah I didn't really see anyone that was surprising for the Roster. All the Characters just felt so Vanilla. Like NONE were characters I couldn't see as DLC for MvC3: Ultimate. Gone were all the SHOCKING CROSSOVERS! Not like when Jill w/ Zombie Summoning. No Cactus Man. No Phoenix Wright. No Goddess wolf. Like yeah sure Monster Hunter is VERY cool to include as a MH Fan...but it doesn't scream "SURPRISING/WACKY CHARACTER!" Like name a single character from the MVCI Roster that makes you go "HOLY SHIT! I can't believe they put this character in here! WOW!!"
Like look at characters like Hagar, imagine if they put in JESSICA Hagar. Imagine instead of Sigma, they put in Doctor Light. Princess Prin Prin? Alia? Lady Sif or Hela would have been better choices for Marvel. They could have put in Wasp!
Dominick Majors Didn’t help Peter “Combofiend” Rosas was in a pickle so he chose a crappy approach instead of something like “We’ll see what happens as we go forward.”, which wouldn’t have caused a shit show. While some characters can be seen for what they can do, crossover games are about fan service especially.
That was said because the real answer to the question asked was “Marvel isn’t letting us use characters they don’t have the movie rights to” so the person answering had to make up something, so saying “Their gameplay is still there” was probably their best bet They just could’ve worded it better
Zombie Guy And the big mistake of that is the fact Combofiend could have said something better than that since it made it seem like his answer was meant for the pros and not casual fans.
@@xmarksthespot1372 Which is a damn shame really. You can't last in production for fighting games if you don't think of the characters as characters and only seeing them as code oir functions.
Lord Sango so true. Infinite’s not an MvC game without xmens. I’m glad I never wasted a full price for this excusable game, for I can see that it has zero efforts still without xmens.
Wolverine would be awesome if he was in the game. I could be wrong but I think the reason xmen isn't in the game cause the develepors were focusing on the MCU characters. there might be one or two non mcu characters on the marvel side I could be forgetting something. its been a while since I played MVC: Infinite. Overall it is a fun game apart from the certain parts of the story. the plot was kinda cool just poor dialogue.
Whoever gave max death threats should seriously get a life, max is honestly an awesome human being and the fact that people are actually giving death threats because of a video game is honeslty just sad
- Lack of content - Smaller roster than the previous game - Embarrassing, cringe inducing story mode - Ugly as shit - Questionable character choices - Banking on DLC to provide the game the roster it needs - Shafting major fan favorite characters over petty corporate decisions - Making characters they know everyone wants as DLC immediately - Lack of excitement or support from the developers making the game Yeah it's no wonder this game flopped. No game could have survived this.
smaller roster, but it is a 2 v 2 instead of a 3 v 3, i think that particular problem is on the fans, not on marvel and capcom, also the "ugly as shit" to a certain extend, but the other points? yeah the blame is on both companies
What upsets me the most is that they got rid of the cool comic book aesthetic and how lively the character select screen was and how they all had quotes for each other at the end of their fights.
Ok I agree with you but in Mahvel 3 not everyone had unique dialog at the end of rounds. Just play Phoenix Wright against 90% of the roster to see what I mean.
Problem is UE4 dont come with good cell shading code, yes you got Arc System Works but they actully needed to extend the engine to achive what they got and Capcom didnt want to sped time on it. 2nd potential factor is Marvel picked this perticilar style as they wanted to promoted movies, i would not be suppriced that they stright up said to Capcom, make us Injustice for Marvel.
Vector Freeze5 Of course not. But some of his fans were kinda dicks about him liking some things about Infinite as well as investing time on that over FighterZ or other good games.
Thing is people love choosing sides. It's either all good or all bad to some people. So when something has glaring problems, but there are also very good elements in it. Haters will bash everything, fanboys will love everything. I wonder why people love creating sides where it doesn't belong. MVCI had very good game play, but mediocre story, visuals and incomplete roster. You can't just bash the gameplay because you don't like the story mode(which is only important in a fighting game, if that fighting game is either BlazBlue or Guilty Gear) or the visuals. The story can't be fixed but the Visuals and Roster could be improved given time. WHen you hate on everything you don't alow for that to happen. Same as when you midlessly defend everything.
@Tomek FM, I'm sorry but it's you here who have been blinded by negativity. Max clearly pointed out all the problems in the game that needed to be fixed. But you can't simply discredit the gameplay when it was the one thing that was well done. Simply giving up and bashing the game will not fix anything. Pointing out the problems while highlighting the merits can make you heard. But companies work with numbers, they will never listen to the voice of only one player. When everyone is pretty much like you and simply give up, your voices will drown out Max sole voice, and the company will just follow suit and give up on the game just like you guys did. It would be different if he was one of the blind fanboys who just praise the company for whatever they make, but he is not. People need to fix this Bad Habit of not giving anything a second chance.
Voice of ONE and ONLY player?! EVERYONE was saying to Capcom that graphics look balls, character designes are awful (Chun Li still looks ugly, Dante has drug problems) etc. While Capcom had no control over Marvel side they still had control over their side. Arthur? Frank?! SPENCER?!! Spencer was nice touch in 2010 but NOT in 2017... -_- Music sounds horrendous, chracters in fight seem to have no personality at all... i could continue and continue. Game was made with no love and real effort put into it. Sure gameplay ended up good but it's not enough.
I reaaaally suggest you read my comment again. Just saying Edit: "EVERYONE was saying to Capcom that graphics look balls, character designes are awful (Chun Li still looks ugly, Dante has drug problems) etc. Sure gameplay ended up good but it's not enough." Ok, listen here pal. Do you know who else complained about the problems in the game? Every country in the world and their dog, the gods and their loyal servants, devil and his demons, and all the aliens in the universe, pretty much everyone. You may think it's a smart choice that you're telling the company how they need to change their games. But what you and everyone who bashes those who actually show the good side of the game are doing... You're pretty much saying this, "I don't like this crap game, and you should stop doing this crap". What you don't say is that the gameplay is good and that the series could be better, because you're being so obnoxious in wanting to tell Capcom off on their mistakes that you forget to tell them you like the series and that it still has a chance. THAT is the reason why people keep saying that the gameplay is good. It doesn't matter if it's the one good thing, it doesn't matter if it isn't enough, If all you do is only bash the game while glossing over the good aspcts just because they are not enough, all you'll ever get is to kill the franchise. That's it. If the game has merits you have to point them out, don't think is okay to only tell people off and wash your hands of the results.
Maybe this game could just be treated like X Men the Last Stand. Let's just release MVC4 and forget MVCI ever existed, you know like what Days of Future Past did...
Greg V. Marvel Entertainment's CEO Ike Perlmutter has had a childish feud with Fox for years, which is why the X-Men kept getting sidelined for the Inhumans in the comics and the Fantastic Four was written out until recently (after Disney bought Fox). Claremont even said that, for a time, there was a rule at Marvel against introducing new mutant characters, because they didn't want to give Fox any new material. If MvC ever comes back, hopefully things will be good again.
MvCI just doesn’t bring the same level of hype it’s processors did. Rooms of people exploding in cheers after seeing someone rally a comeback just doesn’t happen with MvCI. I wanted to be excited for this, I really did. Bought UMvC3 for the vita just to scratch the itch. But it’s just not exciting to watch and ultimately not the game we all wanted.
hey, blame marvel AND capcom for that. marvel for purposely excluding meaningful legacy characters just to promote their mcu universe while capcom basically did everything
I am sad that MvCI is dead but in reality, both Capcom and Marvel are to blame. Marvel especially since they want to make it an advertisement for the Marvel Cinematic Universe and not adding characters that people really want. And Capcom for not putting any effort in the presentation. The gameplay is good but just everything else isn't. Oh and to anyone who's sending death threats to Max, you really need to wake up and rethink your life choices.
Well Disney did try to destroy all mutants and fantastic four in everything. Since they wanted to own them. Hence why not one of them allowed in this game. I put more blame on capcom. There track record over the years have been shit. Everyone loved the new Resident Evil. And just looked over everything.
No fan service, that's what happened. Everyone was so hyped for this game. Everyone was excited to see returning characters like Doom and Wolverine, and the hopeful new ones like Leon Kennedy, Asura, Nero, Punisher, Daredevil, Carnage, etc. We didn't get what we wanted man. The game died upon arrival. I think what we need is a proper Marvel vs Capcom entry. A game being complete with a roster beyond Marvel v Capcom 2. No DLC bullshit. If Capcom can release a game like Monster Hunter World that has amazing graphics, smooth gameplay, and complete, then they can easily deliver an amazing fighting game. They need to get better people in the fighting game department, Marvel included too. On both ends. Unfortunately Marvel also had a huge hand in fucking this game up big time. Taking out the Mutants was probably the biggest mistake. I completely agree with your opinion Max. The game had some good properties, but man, there were a lot of negatives. If they continue to do the franchise, they need to step it up and need to start caring about the fans. When they do that, they'd be surprised on how much money they'd actually make. They'd make a lot more if they put more effort into it if that's what they're worried about.
And a lot of the PR and such didn't help since Capcom knew they couldn't throw Marvel under the bus with some decisions like the lack of several characters such as the X-Men and Fantastic Four rosters due to Disney's pissing contest with Fox and Sony at the time as well as the push of the MCU elements just because of how Disney and Marvel couldn't stop just sucking their own dicks about the MCU's success. And while MVCI plays well, it just falls apart in a lot of areas like you said with fan service as well as art direction, some of the music tracks, etc.
"I lost a lot of faith in the fighting division of Capcom..." Wow, that must've been hard to swallow for Max. He was a huge fan of Capcom fighting games for years and now, his hopes for Capcom to make great fighting games again have became skeptical. This video made my heart sank; it's been really depressing for him... :(
The thing that pissed me off the most about this whole thing was how so many of the people who call themselves "fans" of Max were flat-out attacking him for DARING to enjoy the game. Apparently he's not allowed to like what they don't like; they just want him to be a "hype agent" for their preferred franchises to make them more popular, and wanted Max to rag on this game as hard as they did, to "bury" it faster- and when he didn't, they turned on him. Well, you lot, here you see what you did to him. You're not his fans- in fact, he'd very likely be better off without you.
In fairness, there's a difference between Max liking the game and Max flooding his channel with videos showcasing the game. People never attacked him for liking the game, they attacked him for giving positive exposure to such a divisive game. I never personally attacked him, but I did unsubscribe because I was tired of seeing Marvel videos.
The Rogue Wolf just because ur a fan doesnt mean ur a drone, i like max's stuff but whenever he plays call of garbage im leaving a nice message (expressing how garbage that game is) then i just go watch something else
The presentation killed it for me. MVC, and Capcom fighters overall are renowned for their amazing sprite and/or handrawn stuff. Heck, SF4 and 5 even managed to nail a semi-comicy style that would have massively improved MVCI's presentation. Mk and Tekken can pull off the realistic stuff, partially because they are working with material that has always been semi-realistic. Yanking comic characters and characters from notable spritebased franchises and slapping a coat of realism did not work out at all. The gameplay however is great. Under rated in my opinion. Oh and the lack of xmen was a big mistake by Disney. That's like pulling Mario from Smash.
Sky79 I hear that! You can tell he is really being honest as a fan who wants MVC to do awesome and it’s a real shame some of the big flaws of MVC:I hurt him deep down as well as many others.
Been bugging me the last several weeks that mvci kind of stopped dead after the initial dlc drop. I was waiting to get back into once more characters were added and suddenly it occurred to me there hasn’t been anything announced for the game in ages
Liam Cronin They need to do a few updates like balance changes, maybe upgrade graphics, put on that sick motion blur, give a Japanese voice option and MvC3 music option, etc. People will stop saying it's dead if they start doing announcements on it again.
sleepy if they tried to call it mvc4 it would be even worse, as it is clearly just a half assed mvc3 with less characters and MCU which honestly no one should give a crap about
Remember though this is Capcom so they make a bunch of games and then create the next game in the series numerically. Like street fighter. What if they do infinite 2 and 3?
sleepy I agree. When you give a game like that a pretentious name like “Infinite” even though it has less than what we expected, you’re just preparing people to be disappointed.
It hurts to hear you received death threats over this video. You are truly a fan, with an opinion. How dare anyone threaten your life over this. Max you are an amazing person, and you have done nothing wrong. Please stay safe, keep having fun dood!
Sad indeed. Dragon Ball is an excellent Marvel replacement. They probably think that Max's opinions carry enough weight to be another nail in MVCI's coffin, so theyre looking for a singular person to pass blame on since they have to leave their Capcom comfort zone. They should blame themselves for having that fixation on MvC and just move on to other better made FGs.
You also forgot to mention how Dragon ball fighterz which was being showcased around the same time was showing just how polished it was when all the negativity was hitting infinite.
MrQuarantine I’m gonna actually say fighterz legit killed MVCI. What’re you gonna play- a new, unique, amazing looking 3v3 fighting game with simple mechanics but a lot of depth, or a lazy, old, *ugly* looking 2v2 with a lot of simple mechanics and a lot of decent depth? Chances are, you’ll pick the former just because it looked that damn good.
Ty Lewis That's fair, but competition is an important aspect when considering a games success. When one game is clearly superior to another the flaws in the lesser is more showcased. Battleborn and Overwatch is a prime example of this.
MrQuarantine People give FigtherZ a pass because it's not from an older series and because it's DBZ. I hate to see favoritism used to hurt other games.
MrQuarantine well its just that its such an obvious thing and that if he did say that then he could cause problems between the dbz and the mvc fan base.
I'm actually here because I was having a discussion with UMVC3 heads as to why MVC:I is despised from a gameplay perspective. I still don't quite understand why Max has shown so much love to it and rated the gameplay so highly.
InVader crops up super dash being one and the horrible assist system and much more. MvCI is a better fighting game mechanically but, it’s horrible presentation and even more boring roster killed it
It's disturbing that people are unable to accept an opinion unless it's either an absolute "I love this game," or "I hate this game," and nothing in the middle. If any of you are out there sending death threats to people who have a different opinion than yours about a video game, grow up, seriously.
You are only half right. Game opinions have become an overly positive circle jerk for years now. Anything negative has become evil in the minds of loser nerds who tie their Identity to fictional entertainment.
Eh, fan boying and anti fan boying are really close to the same thing. Max strikes me as someone who tries to be introspective about his likes and dislikes, and a middle ground tends to come from that.
I really love retrospectives/postmortems like this. They're important for understanding the industry and looks at specific niches from experts within those niches is fascinating. MvC is a really important franchise in the history of fighting games. Thank you for bringing up the issues Capcom had as a company leading up to the release of MvCI. As a group, people generally have a short memory. Personally, I considered the release of SFV one of the most insulting things a company could do to their audience and had no intention of giving them money for MvCI. That said, I was still very interested to see what the game was like outside of the easily observable nonsense (graphics, story, writing, etc.). Hearing about how your feelings for the game put you between a rock and a hard place was really interesting. Yours were my favorite gameplay videos for MvCI, because it was easy to see how much you enjoyed the actual mechanics. For all their faults, at the end of the day Capcom makes fighting games. It must have been truly demoralizing coming to the realization that MvCI content would just not be worth it. Your willingness to put out as much as you did and not just pander to their mob mentality -- on either side -- is commendable and I hope you ultimately are happy with what you did release. I hope you have plans to do more videos like this one. Getting to see your opinions about games and companies in the context of where they fit into the history of the industry is fascinating.
If you send death threats to someone for liking or saying nice things about a video game that you hate, you need to rethink everything that you're doing. In fact, you probably need to stay away from video games period, at least for a while, because there's a such thing as getting way too zealous over something. Seriously, we're supposed to be better than this. Yes, video games are a wonderful art form that is and should be greatly appreciated, but that's no excuse for threatening someone's life. There are reasons why a few too many people see this community as toxic and unwelcoming, and this is one of them. Grow up and have some respect. It's a video game, for crying out loud.
It's not that they're too zealous, but that this intensity is in a negative direction. Imagine what someone with enormous zeal could do constructively and creatively.
Some people shouldn’t have to state what they think on the internet when all they have to say is death threats to Max or the devs over at Capcom or both! Everyone deserves the right to speak freely about someone or have an opinion but there’s a fine difference between expressing your distaste for a person/company/product/anything and acting so mentally ill and completely delerious that you would kill someone because they liked a game you didn’t. If Max’s appreciation for Capcom games did make Capcom continue to churn out their games even worse than they do now, it’d be Capcom to blame for finding it reasonable to push the goalpost further in annoying their consumers over hearing the criticisms and responding to those accordingly
yeeeah, it`s impossible that I`m here cause someone else shared this video on FB, right? ... specially on a fighting game fb page that has nothing to do with Max but it has something to do with fighting games in general.
There is an article that Disney didn't like that the IPs that they could offer couldn't stand up to.. Well be on equal ground eh fighting wise to capcom IPS all I took from it was waaaaa😭😭 we cannot complete so we have to rig the game. Well so they raged quit.
Fangs Claws. As funny as that would be... large companies actually don't care about youtube beyond statistics. The most capcom would do is disable the Like/dislike bar if it was too unfavorable for them.
Not necessarily, MCU characters themeselves were not the problem, the problem was their response to why things were the way they were. Saying we didn't like characters for the character is stupid and they shouldn't have gone with that approach.
@@markthomaskiec2453 Although this wasn’t the best approach it was probably the only approach they could’ve done in order to both respond to the overwhelming hate of the lackluster roster and to avoid any beef from Marvel and Disney
Call555JackChop, exactly! Even I knew it was bullshit the moment I read those comments. You'd have to be living in a hole to not know who Wolverine or Deadpool was and they had them in last game for crying out loud
Tbh years ago I thought Max was just some capcom shill mainstream dude who didn’t take other less popular fighting games seriously, but eventually realized this was just a guy who was very passionate about many fighting games and was doing a lot for the fgc. Man to see you talk about how your favorite franchise has now kinda died and was disappointing is really painful. Your thing about how criticizing it made marvel fans hate you and how loving the gameplay made other people think you were bought out, that must have been a hard place to be man but I totally get where you’re coming from. Good news tho is that some other fighting games are still thriving now so the FGC is still very much alive and capcom still has a chance to break back in stronger than ever. This was a heartbreaking video, I’ve just been with the mvci hate bandwagon before this I’ve gotta admit, but to see it from the perspective of a dedicated fan such as you was really heartbreaking. But if I see you streaming mvci or whatever, I personally will definitely watch idc that it’s mvci
I'm still trying to figure out WHY Max is getting death threats over a VERY TRUE critical analysis of MVCI? This game was NOT at it's full potential at all!
Lawrence Gilmer because their are idiots and man children out there that think someone else cannot have a opinion that differs from theirs. they hate the game flat out and anything even slighly positive about they cannot take. max has been speaking nothing but facts about this game especially if you go back and watch real talk episodes about it. the truth hurts
Ryan Stewart Then why not send death threats to all DBFZ fans for supporting a game that is far from perfect or BBCTB fans for being shills as well? You know the old saying: "What goes around, comes around"
Ryan Stewart He's not a shill. He's spoken about all of the problems with the game but thoroughly enjoys the gameplay and playing as characters like X, Sigma, Strider, Dante, Jedah, Monster Hunter and Venom. A shill would say that the game has no problems and completely ignore all of the issues in the game like Iron Avenger does.
This is why presentation in a game is important. Certain characters and the artwork for those characters was just really bad. Reused character frames from MVC3. There wasn't a lot of ingenuity put into this. Seemed more like a quick cashgrab game to me.
Death threats?? Really??? Its just a game!!!! Come on people. If you do not agree with someones opinion. Thats fine! State your opinion or the reason of why you dont agree with max. You dont have to agree. We are human. Its ok to disagree. But death threats are not necessary. I think the same way about real life sports, people literally fight and kill each other on stadiums and I think the same way... ITS JUST A GAME! This world is going to shit. Politics, gaming, religion. Nothing is worth death threats. Everybody is entitled to their opinions. Its a free world. Chill the fuck out!!!!
Produce -- of course not, kid. I'm saying if someone is surprised that different opinions are getting hate, or death threats, or literal deaths for their opinions. They've young, naive and pretty sheltered. Shit like this is apart of humanity.
TheKiroshi just because they’re surprised by this kind of behavior before doesn’t make them “young”. Don’t know why that’s your first assumption. Also, you should’ve clarified on your statement so people like me wouldn’t get the wrong idea, buddy.
WHAAAAAAA HAPPUN?! I think the biggest problem with MVCI is that it never felt like its own entity but rather as a promotional tool for more "important" projects like the MCU films and Monster Hunter...
Michael Scally And still, they failed miserably at creating hype for both Monster Hunter and Black Panther. Making them DLC was a stupid move, they should have been free, or released after the success of both MHW and the Black Panther movie.
Dick Chocolate I think it's a decent roster. That whole "they re-used MvC3 characters" argument is complete BS. That's like talking about MK11 when it comes out and you say, "Why did they 're-use' Takeda, Erron Black, Kotal Khan, and Cassie?!" Because that's what you're supposed to do!!!
Daniel Goforth Except with MK11 its likely going to be as fresh and interesting as possible while continuing what came prior. MVCI on the other was a straight up lazy copy and paste job, no imagination or freshness at all.
I didn't buy MVCI because of Capcom's decisions. I don't want to support laziness with my hard earned money. To each their own, but I didn't like that the character roster was boring and the same, the graphics, the lack of modes, the story mode looked like a chore, the lack of honesty about the Xmen characters, the gouging your fanbase by putting a paywall on actually new characters.
Same here. I didn't buy infinite for they just did the same thing from the 3rd one without xmens and they just rushed through it. They've just bought shame to the MVC fans.
God, the pain in his voice. You can hear it. But i need to say here and now. Especially with RE7 and MHW. Capcom was not the drag on this game that MARVEL was. Marvel wanted a cashgrab and forced it down Capcom's throat. I want capcom to come out and blast disney in full and say that straight up Marvel Killed the Art. Lots of things could have been done for this.
Sebastian Cintron everyone knew it looked rushed. At the very least I wanted the game to be delayed for one more year and see what would happen. *sigh *
Tell that to RE 7 and Monster Hunter World which has broken records held by squaresoft and others. (Should top 15 million in sales before PC release.) Marvel held the art direction back on this game. The art is what immediately held me back. The Weak roster made me puke. Capcom on the roster OVERCOMMITTED with Megaman X and Marvel wouldnt bring out Wolverine or Storm because of ongoing problems with Fox at the time of development. The moment those licensing issues were finished there should have been a HUGE announcement by both houses. But what held myself and a HUGE amount of players back? THE ART. Capcom has solid artists, it was MARVEL that demanded the muted style and the ugly characters. Not Capcom.
How the fuck you know that it was Disney/Marvel that force the bad art? You worked in this project? Capcom is equally at fault. It was their art director that couldn't keep the artstyle consistent. Take that as an awful truth and stop defending Capcom. Also, teams behind RE7 and MHW is not the same team behind MVC:I.
And if want to argue that Marvel wanted the game to have the "MCU" artstyle. Look closely! Both of them doesn't even look alike. Come with your biased opinion.
The Symbol of Peace yeah but this is also his career that he has dedicated his life to. It's a little more than "just a video game" to him and probably many others. Show some empathy man!
The Symbol of Peace its his passion he plays these type of games as we all did growing up. Its literally seeing this awe inspiring bird slowly dying and leaving you :( i remember seeing MvC1 in the arcade seeing VENOM :)
What part of marvel did not have the rights to the xmen do people not understand? Everyone says it's marvels fault for refusing to put them no dummies blame fox or Disney take your pick. Marvel got the rights back recently if I remember correctly.
mma4ever Even more bullshit is the fact that this game was more focused on the MCU for the roster (Venom being an exception) which leaves out X Men and F4 characters. But then you have the mobile games produced by Marvel games (who also helped with this) that DO have X Men.
The biggest slap in the face was MVCI ignoring the X-men in favor of more MCU characters, which is kinda blasphemous. Without X-men, there wouldn't have been MVC. either the developers didn't see that, or ther were shome shady licencing issues from FOX last year before Disney swooped in. Whatever the case, this ruined it for many.
I know a lot of people blame Capcom for this, but I really think it is on the Marvel side. They were trying to ice the XMen and Fantastic Four to force Fox to drop the movie rights. It sucks, but there isn't much Capcom can probably do about it.
And this is why Max got death threats? Just send all that Anger to the companies by NOT buying their products and give them bad reviews....Its not that serious
Just want to take this time to comment how big of a fan I am of this Channel honestly Maximilian thank you for existing , I once suffered from anxiety and the only time I was able to take my mind out of the anxiety was from watching your videos Maximilian thank you and I hope you keep up your channel I don’t have words to explain how much this channel has helped me get through rough times , helping me get certain things out of my mind while watching your awesome videos max ! I’m a big fan !
ᴍᴀsᴛᴇʀ ̖́- - ̗̀ᴘᴇʀғᴇᴄᴛ ik that Disney bought FOX which FOX owns part of X-men. But I think that’s it for the dlc department for mvci, for it probably didn’t make the cut.
Vladimir Vasquez I loved this game and to be frank, I've heard more blind hate against this game than legitimate criticism. And a lot of those people came from Injustice 2, DBFZ, etc. Should anything bad like this ever happen to their games, I will have no sympathy for them, and maybe then I'll have my chance to rub it in their faces super hard. They've turned me into what I hate.
Ik the meme of MvCI can be hilarious at times but when you think about it.....it's really really sad MvC made childhoods and are some of the best fighters and still can live up to this day, especially MvC2 and UMvC3.....after being cancelled and shut down for years, when it finally back....instead of like a childhood hero coming back and better than ever, it like a public execution and it hurts man
It was over hyped everyone expected way too much for MVCI the graphics were awful the roster was lacking and the lacking of X-men characters among other things.
Yeah I completely agree they pretty much castrated themselves when they omitted the X-Men. And I still shudder on the story mode I was not feeling it in a sad way I'm glad this game is not going to be on Evo this year
Eh. Capcom is hardly spiraling. Other franchises they have are doing great. The fighting game division has been shooting themselves in the foot for pretty much a decade now.
Marvel vs Capcom was my childhood, and the concept is just so raw and insane. The idea of mixing different universes of characters just sounds amazing to me, and it's really sad to see Infinite sink like this. The timelessness of UMvC3 is just so powerful.
Thank you Max for your continue support to the FGC, you really captured exactly how I felt about the entire release and life of MvCI, its really frustrating to be passionate about something that has so much toxicity around it. I really hope you aren't listening to the haters all the time, make content important to you and make content thats gonna make you happy. I understand views is a part of your business, but you've done the upmost to be vocal about our marvel scene. As far as someone in your position can go. This does miles further that hopefully the right ears will hear this at capcom and then true change will come from both marvel and capcom
MVCI suffered from the same exact problems that plagued Street Fighter X Tekken and Street Fighter V. Low effort across the board and copious amounts of DLC that should have been freely and immediately available at release but wasn’t. Compared to the likes of Mortal Kombat and Injustice, Capcom’s most recent fighting games feel archaic, bland and lacking in polish and content. They simply lack the dedication and effort needed to make a quality fighting game. But seriously imagine how different things would be if Capcom dedicated the same love and passion to Street Fighter that they dedicated to Monster Hunter World.
metalgamer 817 SFV is very on and off with its animation. Because you have characters like Dhalsim and Zeku who are animated beautifully. And then there’s Abigail, who’s animations make his muscles look like they have no weight, and Cammy’s abysmal airgrab animation. The on block recovery animations are a nice touch, and there are all sorts of nice details here and there, but SFV needed at least another animation pass. Especially when there are games like DBFZ and GGXrd which have absolutely amazing animation. SFV is an improvement over IV’s animation, but they lost some of what made 3’s so good.
flammableghost there we have it, the crux of the issue. Imagine if Smash 5 finally hit that sweet spot of gameplay, something like a refined and more accessible Melee. Sounds good, right? (Even if you don't like Melee, just bear with me.) Well, how about if Nintendo decided to remove all the Pokemon characters and stages due to TPC's history of dicking around Nintendo, remove any character whose franchise hasn't had a new game in 8 years (this would mean goodbye to many of the more "out there" picks), remove Bayonetta despite being Nintendo funded due to her raciness in her games, and the third parties demanded that their characters couldn't be shown to be hurt by Nintendo fighters in promo material? Suddenly that sounds like a soulless, boring piece of shit despite great gameplay, right?
Good choice man. I went all in on the $90 version because I had faith that there would be a good roster later. I haven't even played 2 of the DLC characters that I paid for. I haven't touch the game in months and months. Such a waste.
Honestly my biggest disappointment for this game wasn't the character models cause honestly I didn't care that much, but just the lackluster roster and DLC choices made me upset about the game, but the game is ridiculously fun though
I’m glad nemesis was in it But he isn’t as cool as he was in marvel 3 mostly with the impact of his attacks like in marvel you can feel the way he punches you in mvci it feels like I’m bitch slapping everyone It got some of my favorite characters from capcom like Frank west which is from dead rising and dead rising is my favorite game franchise ever and nemesis which is my favorite resident evil character but where were the other good characters like Vergil or doctor doom or magneto
Tatsunoko vs Capcom vs SNK HD Collection, Skullgirls, and Tekken 7: Fated Retribution on my Switch. Second, Capcom have been done in DB FighterZ Engine styles for MVCI.
The Injustice 2 story played a huge factor, and Injustice 2 in general. That game had so much content, and the story was amazing. It created a ceiling that MvC:I was never going to be able to beat even if the gameplay for MvC:i was superior.
"Pretty good for a vanilla version of a game" I dunno man, I feel like more stuff was carried over from UMvC3 than was actually new. I still put most the blame on Disney, though. I feel like if Disney weren't such dicks to work with, Capcom would have put more effort into it. You heard about how Capcom wasn't allowed to show Marvel characters getting beat up by Capcom characters in trailers, right? They were micromanaging the hell out of it. Hope they make a new Versus game without Disney/Marvel. An adaptation of the Street Fighter vs Darkstalkers comic would be f'ing nice as hell.
Hardcore Report i would not say something been carried over is thing that killed it, look on MvC2 the entire game is the last hurra of there 2D sprites that they did and constintly reuse on CPS2 arcade system, they been so lazy about that they didnt even bother to fix those sprites for 16:9 screen retio use, 16:9 version of those games feel like mugen. yet it didnt stop the game to be popular.
Former Darkstalkers devs are at ArcSys evolving the airdasher formula with Blazblue, Guilty Gear, Persona, and DBZ. It wouldnt be Darkstalkers without those devs making it for Capcom, so since thats not happening...let Darkstalkers keep its dignity.
I didn't bother with it. No X-Men was a big problem with me. The roster seemed crap to me for the most part. A series this old and successful should only delete characters that were there as a joke, lookin at MODOK, and expand and build. Strider should've never been taken out. We could've had Carnage or John Talbain by now is they stuck with building the roster. The game just looked bad visually, any character the wants made of metal just looked bad especially Cap who is one of my MVC staple characters. Venom looked great though to be fair. Finally, something that is a problem with all fighting games now. I hate buying a game, buying a season pass to get all the characters, spending all that dough only to have them sell the game with all the dlc characters in some ultimate edition a couple years later for the same price we already paid for the vanilla copy when it came out. All the companies need to quit that shit. Love your channel Max. Keep up the outstanding job.
WolBEARine I didn’t either. Something about that game made my instincts literally make me stay away. It’s a dark alley way...you know you need to stay away
I still do not think that a lack of X-Men was unrecoverable, but what needed to happen was filling the void with characters that would lessen the sting. That is nowhere close to what happened, and the roster was crippled for it.
Just because you’re successful at this for being a company doesn’t mean you have to be complacent and lazy all the damn time. Gaming is about evolution, and Capcom continues to forgo this lesson and mature heavily.
As much as people joke about it. One of the things that really didn't help this game was the announcement of Dragon Ball FighterZ... A lot of people just felt that game was giving fans everything MvCi wasn't and I think that also ended up hurting sales because people just wanted to wait for FighterZ.
Yeah it's totally Disney's fault the quality of the game is shit. I swear you people refuse to put any blame on Capcom. YOu know somethings is fucked when DmC Dante looks infinitely better than the DMC3 Dante character model
Here we see a video of a broken man
And no amount of buffs will be able to fix him.
Why is this true
Would nerfing whats hurting help?
You could use a Mercy Re- oh wait
maybe not buffs... but weakness exploit 3?..... he will be alright lol mvci forever max
I really wanted the X Men in it or hell maybe the fantastic 4 but we didn't get any of them like....wtf Capcom.
How Max feels about Capcom is how every fan should feel about the things they care about: Stern, yet Supportive.
Adrian Duran Same here
Hopefully Capcom will learn from the failures of their recent games, and improve. This whole “game as a platform” business hasn’t been kind to them.
They should stop focusing on this story mode stuff, and just make their games look and run well online with substantial amounts of content at release. Their gameplay is still top notch, but their presentation has to step it up.
>stern, yet supportive
>Nu-GoW
Nah. Not a chance. Such talk is hardly a universally wise one.
Man it feels like max is giving a eulogy for a lost friend 😢

It started out X-Men vs street fighter. Taking out the X-Men was an insult
I have a feeling that if Sony continued with The Amazing Spider-Man Series, then Disney would suspiciously stop promoting Spider-Man.
Fusion What I'm try to say is that Spider-Man might not appear in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite if it weren't for Sony and Marvel's MCU deal.
Exactly, I played it because of the X-men
That's because of X-men films being part of FOX (not Marvel-division of Disney). So they ditched X-men because of it, because they didn't want to give FOX spotlight. Thus they went for Avengers aspect. It's an insult for fans, but they had... reasons to remove it. Not necessarily good ones, but reasons.
Actually, X-Men:COTA was the first which makes it even worse😀
The first misstep MvC:I took imo was kicking off Ryota Niitsuma from the producer chair. A guy who was pivotal in the development of games like Tatsunoko vs Capcom, Street Fighter IV, and Marvel vs Capcom 3. He's responsible for the genius marketing cinematic trailers for MvC 3, the cel-shaded comic book artstyle for TvC and UMvC 3, and the fresh unique character roster in MvC 3. By replacing him they removed one of their strongest asset from the Marvel vs Capcom franchise.
Benny Trinh At least Ono was not involved, he would have fucked the game worst.
Wow I had no idea
How, even?
So that's why the game sucks. I needed an explanation why
I know this is old but why kick him out?
I was so excited to get into this game and when it came out it was like a bundle of gross meat just fell outta the sky into my hands.
I dropped it in the hopes it'd stand back up as a better game.
Lythero I feel you, lee.
We've got cucked by Capcom again.
At least we have FighterZ.
man, I was there hoping Joe and Phoenix would come back the whole time. Gross meat describes how I felt about the whole situation
Bring back ranked ramblings please
Lythero Would Joe and Phoenix Wright even make it redeemable?
Hello Lee
This video contains more wolverine than MvCI
blame Fox
Giordan Diodato nah it’s marvel’s fault. They’ve been giving X-Men shit in recent years. They pushed the FF to the side and it was fortunate spidey didn’t get the same treatment
Random Duck Probably because spidy is so popular.
mariotaz don't blame anything else, Just blame Issac Perlmutter(for making even mainstream comic marvel universes other than earth-199999 resembling mcu)
@@GiordanDiodato yes blame me
Marvel vs Capcom? Nah, its Disney vs Capcom now
Andrew G well marvel is making the Spider-Man game and there is nothing wrong with it don’t blame “Disney” capcom is the one to blame, they have a dozen of awesome characters and they choose some wack ones
I would play tf out that game if it was real
trust me i would love to beat the crap of that stupid Disney mouse to the death honestly!!! thanls for killing good game franchises and devs too goodbye Factor five or decent star wars complete games thanks to Disney!!!

What they did right:
+gameplay
What they did wrong:
-Advertising/Promotion
-Music
-Roster/DLC roster picks
-Graphics
-UI design
-Easter Eggs
The music is such a disappointment to such a high degree I couldn't even believe it.
Ayy remember when CaptainAmerica and Winter Solider had a unique lvl 3 animation?
Remember when X and Zero had one too? YEAH, me neither :/
I know its 4 years later but Monster Hunter is easily my favorite character in any fighting game so it has that.
Like yeah sure Monster Hunter is VERY cool to include as a MH Fan...but it doesn't scream "SURPRISING/WACKY CHARACTER!"
Like name a single character from the MVCI Roster that makes you go "HOLY SHIT!
The second they started to call characters "functions" in a game that banks on fan service, they sealed their fate
That was said because the real answer to the question asked was “Marvel isn’t letting us use characters they don’t have the movie rights to” so the person answering had to make up something, so saying “Their gameplay is still there” was probably their best bet
They just could’ve worded it better
Zombie Guy And the big mistake of that is the fact Combofiend could have said something better than that since it made it seem like his answer was meant for the pros and not casual fans.
@@BryonYoungblood Lol dude just See's characters as code in a video game to use.
@@xmarksthespot1372 Which is a damn shame really. You can't last in production for fighting games if you don't think of the characters as characters and only seeing them as code oir functions.
Marvel is not Marvel without X-Men. I knew the game was going in the wrong direction without X-Men was announced. They failed in so many ways.
Lord Sango so true. Infinite’s not an MvC game without xmens. I’m glad I never wasted a full price for this excusable game, for I can see that it has zero efforts still without xmens.
Yep I knew the same was going to suck
How do you NOT have the X MEN in MvC?!!
@@truearea53 Inexcusable.
Overall it is a fun game apart from the certain parts of the story. the plot was kinda cool just poor dialogue.

how is max an awesome human being? does he organize charities or something? he just records himself doing video game related stuff, settle down.
- Lack of content
- Smaller roster than the previous game
- Embarrassing, cringe inducing story mode
- Ugly as shit
- Questionable character choices
- Banking on DLC to provide the game the roster it needs
- Shafting major fan favorite characters over petty corporate decisions
- Making characters they know everyone wants as DLC immediately
- Lack of excitement or support from the developers making the game
Yeah it's no wonder this game flopped. No game could have survived this.
thevoid23 you forgot dragon ball fighter z.... the release of that game was the nail in the coffin...
belly competition is also another factor but seriously. Even if dbfz didn't exist this game still killed itself...
thevoid23 DESTINY at release
smaller roster, but it is a 2 v 2 instead of a 3 v 3, i think that particular problem is on the fans, not on marvel and capcom, also the "ugly as shit" to a certain extend, but the other points? yeah the blame is on both companies
belly Honestly had infinite not been terrible both of these games would have coexisted. The blame is largely on capcom and Disney.
If you watch this and the reaction trailer back to back, it's the saddest shit ever.
Exactly, the game has no “soul”.
Frostfang. INC yeah. Everything about Marvel 3 oozed character. I enjoy the gameplay mechanics here more, but there was something special about 3.
We just need a real Marvel vs capcom 4
You Speak the Truth, Please don;t give up on the franchise capcom please learn from this mistake and give us the good stuff, like you did with umvc3
no we don't. let it die and stay dead.
Man that just crazy.
Boy, that's just crazy.
Gem Merchant nah never kill off originators we’ll see it again in 7-10yrs
Hey Max, its not your fault dood.
Music sounds horrendous, chracters in fight seem to have no personality at all... i could continue and continue.
Game was made with no love and real effort put into it. Sure gameplay ended up good but it's not enough.
I reaaaally suggest you read my comment again. Just saying
Edit:
"EVERYONE was saying to Capcom that graphics look balls, character designes are awful (Chun Li still looks ugly, Dante has drug problems) etc. While Capcom had no control over Marvel side they still had control over their side. Ok, listen here pal.
Chase XJ yeah let’s really hope the rumors of mvc4 are true. For I just wanna forget that mvci ever existed.
And the Classic Sonic series with re-writing Sonic 4 as Sonic Mania
Taking out Wolverine in Marvel vs. Capcom is like taking out Captain Falcon in Smash Bros.
It doesn't feel right.
Nathan Castro So long bub, "Fatal Claw"
It's really didn't feel like MVC without the X-Men.
ladynikkie To be fair, that's probably Marvels fault, it seems only recently where they are trying to embrace the X characters fully again.
His smile and optimism. Gone
HumbleDegenerate LMAO
hey, blame marvel AND capcom for that. marvel for purposely excluding meaningful legacy characters just to promote their mcu universe while capcom basically did everything
I agree. People shouldn't sent death threats to a person just because he pointed out the flaws of the game.
Well Disney did try to destroy all mutants and fantastic four in everything. Since they wanted to own them. Hence why not one of them allowed in this game. I put more blame on capcom. There track record over the years have been shit. Everyone loved the new Resident Evil. And just looked over everything.
MegamanNG this is be clearly the climax of this stupid power struggle stupid power play
I notice, all marvel characters exoect for captain marvel and gomura, models look bad, some capcom models look better.
michael osorio-medrano seems like capcom only care about resident evil, the rest they make is shitl

LOL Capcom learn from Paramount
And a lot of the PR and such didn't help since Capcom knew they couldn't throw Marvel under the bus with some decisions like the lack of several characters such as the X-Men and Fantastic Four rosters due to Disney's pissing contest with Fox and Sony at the time as well as the push of the MCU elements just because of how Disney and Marvel couldn't stop just sucking their own dicks about the MCU's success. And while MVCI plays well, it just falls apart in a lot of areas like you said with fan service as well as art direction, some of the music tracks, etc.
"I lost a lot of faith in the fighting division of Capcom..."
Wow, that must've been hard to swallow for Max.
The Rogue Wolf Preach!!!
Roll Caskett oh no! Trying to be positive about a poorly done game in a franchise he loves! How dare Max!
The Rogue Wolf
just because ur a fan doesnt mean ur a drone, i like max's stuff but whenever he plays call of garbage im leaving a nice message (expressing how garbage that game is) then i just go watch something else
tolon tolon Call of Duty is actually a pretty good shooter though. Not the best, but nothing wrong with liking it.
Never apologize for telling the truth Max

I think it’s first problem was not being called marvel vs capcom 4 like they knew the game could not live up to that name
sleepy if they tried to call it mvc4 it would be even worse, as it is clearly just a half assed mvc3 with less characters and MCU which honestly no one should give a crap about
sleepy cant call a game mvc4 when it has less characters and is lacking in multiple areas compared to mvc3 and they knew that. hense the name “mvci”
sleepy perhaps...

DJJohnWong yeah man, that sucks ._.
Agreed. Watching him and hearing him makes me sad.
Indeed
Can you blame him tho? Dude was super hype for this game as we all were and was let down tremendously.
DJJohnWong So am I. There's a huge Marvel sized hole in my heart that can't possibly be replaced
It hurts to hear you received death threats over this video. You are truly a fan, with an opinion. How dare anyone threaten your life over this. Max you are an amazing person, and you have done nothing wrong. Please stay safe, keep having fun dood!
Probably basement mama boys who are hurt by Max's words
There have been death threats over less things. Not surprised in the least.
They’re probably still angry and salty about Max’s so called “racist” comment. People will just find anything to point fingers to. It’s pathetic.
Y'all act as if death threats are something to take seriously on this RUclips channel of all channels.
You also forgot to mention how Dragon ball fighterz which was being showcased around the same time was showing just how polished it was when all the negativity was hitting infinite.
MrQuarantine I don't think he wanted to compare it to other games. Rather just focus on the games own issues.
Who's here after MVC returned?!!
I'm actually here because I was having a discussion with UMVC3 heads as to why MVC:I is despised from a gameplay perspective. I still don't quite understand why Max has shown so much love to it and rated the gameplay so highly.
I don’t want to blame Fighterz because it didn’t do anything wrong. It was just a better game in almost every way that it kinda shut MvCI down.
Ze-TopHat-Gamer it killed mvci it really did
Simple Thoughts no FighterZ has problems too it didn’t kill Infinite, Infinite killed itself
Dessaw What problems lol? I guess the story mode is not amazing?
Dessaw agreed infinite killed it self, but figthterz definitely rose into the gap mvci created
Finally an adult in the room.
Where did death threats come from?
Nuance is dead
You are only half right. Game opinions have become an overly positive circle jerk for years now.
Anything negative has become evil in the minds of loser nerds who tie their Identity to fictional entertainment.
Eh, fan boying and anti fan boying are really close to the same thing.
Max strikes me as someone who tries to be introspective about his likes and dislikes, and a middle ground tends to come from that.
Didn't expect a video like this would give people reason to send death threats.
Neither did I dude, like wtf?
Ikr like who was doing it. I just, I just want to talk to them *PERSONALLY*.
They're Just a bunch of sick fucks with nothing better to do.
people be cray.
Where do you even see that?
Probably clickbait, I don`t watch Max and here I am watching this video right now.
Stick to your opinions. You're allowed to have them.
Ya Boi Guzma Are you though?
just like you
Thank you. How do I double like this comment?
I hate that MVCI had to fail, it sucks to see a great series hit a block in the road when it could have been phenomenal
Flaco Xavier If they listen to the fans of the characters it would of succeeded but no.
keynan martinez but you see getting the rights to characters cost
*money*
And capcom is lacking in that what they were doin mahvel
carlos conde what? that was not the problem at all
The potential of the game is the thing that hurt me the most...even before launch
There is an article that Disney didn't like that the IPs that they could offer couldn't stand up to.. Well be on equal ground eh fighting wise to capcom IPS all I took from it was waaaaa😭😭 we cannot complete so we have to rig the game. Well so they raged quit.
Wish Capcom would remaster Marvel vs Capcom & Marvel vs Capcom 2.
Nope but they'll be happy to sell them to you again for $60
Things are so bad that people stopped making mods for it. I want to hope for the best, but I can't with this game. It's really sad tbh.
Rydian Do you know hownlong ago I wrote this comment? This was before people got back to making mods.
Benjamin Stark Two months isn't a very long time.
@@benjaminstark7436kinda crazy that people are still modding mvc3 over infinite

Xaimchel Wons that doesn't change my previous statement.
Not always
ichigo kurosaki of you listen to them too much you have also failed because your game will become a jumbled mess its all about balance
Were people honestly sending Max death threats for this video? Damn it, guys...
Seriously, I guess people can’t have a critical opinion on things in life.
waaaa waaa lol
266 dislikes LOL who the fuck would send death threats because a game is bad??? Capcom maybe they got butthurt?
Fangs Claws. As funny as that would be... large companies actually don't care about youtube beyond statistics. The most capcom would do is disable the Like/dislike bar if it was too unfavorable for them.
People are why we can't have nice things.
They added more MCU characters and got rid of the X-Men
Huge mistake
Not necessarily, MCU characters themeselves were not the problem, the problem was their response to why things were the way they were. Saying we didn't like characters for the character is stupid and they shouldn't have gone with that approach.
Mark Thomas Kiec The Xmen and fantastic four were also absent from Lego marvel superheroes 2. Both games came out the same year...hmm
This was the fault of Marvel because they’re the ones that refuse to let Capcom put the X-Men characters in the game
@@markthomaskiec2453 Although this wasn’t the best approach it was probably the only approach they could’ve done in order to both respond to the overwhelming hate of the lackluster roster and to avoid any beef from Marvel and Disney
@@joshuarivera6930 I probably agree on that front, but it was still lackluster.
No music, no light/humourous dialogue, no hype... Yikes. It really does feel like someone (Infinite) died and there's a eulogy here.
*DBZ Fighters. . slightly help put a nail in a coffin also*
Lord Beliel plus injustice made the coffin.
Lord Beliel Actually, MK XL killed them, I2 made the Coffin, FighterZ Sealed it, Smash 4 hammered the Nails in.
I wouldn't say it slightly helped put a nail in the coffin and more so just drilled the fucking coffin shut.
No one going to talk about BlazBlue Cross Tag Battle? Okay... :( .
@@Sheenulus
BlazblueCrossTag helped in digging the grave.
That whole "functions" and "No one knows who the X-Men even are" bullshit really hurt this game
Capcom threw Combofiend under the bus by forcing him to say that stupidity.
No one knows Logan? The star of the greatest Marvel Movie if not Superhero movie of all time? Or Deadpool? Yeah, me neither....
Call555JackChop, exactly! Even I knew it was bullshit the moment I read those comments. You'd have to be living in a hole to not know who Wolverine or Deadpool was and they had them in last game for crying out loud
What killed it for me no mutants!
Just read the comments.
People don't know what criticism means these days?
12year old mentality?
Blind anger?
Lots of reasons, just wish it didn't have to be this way...
Kenshiro seeing MvCI for the first time: *You're already dead*
Nathaniel DarDar capcom: *WHAT?!?!?*
Marvel: *NAANNI?!?*
And that really was the problem:the fanbase (and a lot of people OUTSIDE the fanbase) decided it was dead long before they gave it any chance.
This is why presentation in a game is important. Certain characters and the artwork for those characters was just really bad. Reused character frames from MVC3. There wasn't a lot of ingenuity put into this. Seemed more like a quick cashgrab game to me.
You know....If you really think about it, Capcom is just a function. They're just doing things.
CoviellotheScrub lol
CoviellotheScrub literally
HAHAHHAHAHAHA
Nobody will mind if I swap out my handy-dandy MvCI for Skullgirls I guess.
Can't believe this game didn't even get Akuma...what the hell man. Now every article/video about MVCI looks like an obituary
Patricio Borquez so basically most of the characters are dead
Patricio Borquez
I have been asking myself the same thing about akuma, he could have played a good part in the story.
I guess he didn't have time in his schedule to be in both Tekken 7 and MvCI.
FOR REAL!
You must be young.
TheKiroshi so you’re saying Max deserved those death threats?
Produce -- of course not, kid.
I'm saying if someone is surprised that different opinions are getting hate, or death threats, or literal deaths for their opinions.
They've young, naive and pretty sheltered. Shit like this is apart of humanity.
TheKiroshi just because they’re surprised by this kind of behavior before doesn’t make them “young”. Don’t know why that’s your first assumption. Also, you should’ve clarified on your statement so people like me wouldn’t get the wrong idea, buddy.
MVCI is like a straight to video sequel of a famous movie.
It's Disney, what did you expect
WHAAAAAAA HAPPUN?!
I think the biggest problem with MVCI is that it never felt like its own entity but rather as a promotional tool for more "important" projects like the MCU films and Monster Hunter...
Michael Scally And still, they failed miserably at creating hype for both Monster Hunter and Black Panther. Making them DLC was a stupid move, they should have been free, or released after the success of both MHW and the Black Panther movie.
I just want MvC2 on PC with an online ranking system.
Exactly. With Disney buying Fox I have no idea why they don't just re-re-release MVC 2 (and maybe MVC Origins) on Steam and current gen consoles.
yesss
Movie Games I'm so glad i bought MVC2 On PS3 When it came out so damn happy
CalciumChief cause SJW MARVEL & Disney don't care look at STAR WARS they just killing off things & pissing people off
Naughty Juri Nobody wants to bust out their fucking PS3 just to play one game. If it's on PC we'll always have easy access to it forever.
Sadly mvci's fate was sealed with the awful roster.
Dick Chocolate I mean, who the fuck wants Chris, the dude with his arm (hes so forgettable i forgot his name) or goddamn Winter Soldier?
Fruitdragon What about black widow xD
Dick Chocolate I thought dragon ball fighterz killed it
Dick Chocolate I think it's a decent roster.
No X-Men No MvC success, plain and simple T_T
Blame Disney
Yeah. Without xmens and a good roster, no buy, NEVER.
Crono Trigger I feel you man. No way in HELL would I ever have shelled out $60.00 for this game
Fate862 You’re blaming Marvel in this but Capcom has been fucking up and making the same mistakes for a few years now. You have tunnel vision.
those were Marvel decisions you fool.
Isn't this the part where brainless drones start claiming that you are not a true fan if you aren't throwing your money at capcom
Hyperion5182 yeah I don't blame Capcom for most of the things in the game. Most, story is still their fault.
But you can tell this was rushed.
Seeing Max sad really sucks
Feels bad, man.
It's a video game. I think he'll live.
The Symbol of Peace yeah but this is also his career that he has dedicated his life to. It's a little more than "just a video game" to him and probably many others. Show some empathy man!
TehSiets I played all of these versus games too. Even bought Infinite day one at full price but I just went back to UMvC 3. Life goes on.
The Symbol of Peace its his passion he plays these type of games as we all did growing up. Its literally seeing this awe inspiring bird slowly dying and leaving you :( i remember seeing MvC1 in the arcade seeing VENOM :)
What’s Marvel Vs Capcom with NO X-Men?! X-Men COTA started it all!
When X-men wasn't part of MVCI....That was basically it for the game...Nobody cared about it....That was the deal breaker.
WatchtowerbaseHQ The Art style and excluding the X-men killed it indeed.
What part of marvel did not have the rights to the xmen do people not understand? Everyone says it's marvels fault for refusing to put them no dummies blame fox or Disney take your pick.
Marvel got the rights back recently if I remember correctly.
Dumbass, Marvel only didn't have the movie rights to X-Men. Otherwise, how did MvC3 have X-Men characters?
mma4ever Even more bullshit is the fact that this game was more focused on the MCU for the roster (Venom being an exception) which leaves out X Men and F4 characters. But then you have the mobile games produced by Marvel games (who also helped with this) that DO have X Men.
NeptuneLow I'd say the fact that almost 90% of the roster was from umvc3 was a deal breaker for most on top of the exclusion of the xmen
FOX only owns the movie license, so Capcom could have put the X-men into the game. It was Marvel that told them to not include them.
Disney aka the new Marvel didn't want anyone else making money off of "their" characters. -_-
More presciasly Perlmutter.
Disney was trying to destroy anything mutants. Hence their big push for Inhumans.
+Stunt36 Pirate it.

Don't forget the horrible music and the character voices.
Capcom were overhyping it. Fans aren't the only thing that can hype something up.
It really does come down to low effort with the assumption the name will sell. Exactly like Star Wars.
archaic? Bland? You jsut hear Max talk about MvCI's gameplay right?
SouSporting Those adjectives were meant to describe the presentation and lack of content rather than the core gameplay.
Skeeticus I don’t really agree with the last part of your comment but yeah.
metalgamer 817 SFV is very on and off with its animation.
Fanservice games cannot skimp on fanservice
flammableghost there we have it, the crux of the issue.
As true as the sky.
X-Men were the roots of MvC. Hopefully they bring them back in future installment.

It got some of my favorite characters from capcom like Frank west which is from dead rising and dead rising is my favorite game franchise ever and nemesis which is my favorite resident evil character but where were the other good characters like Vergil or doctor doom or magneto
I hope a Marvel vs Capcom HD Collection gets released.
StaticShock42 me too.
That NEEDS to be made.
Yeah, and release it for the Switch!!
Don't include infinite :3
Tatsunoko vs Capcom vs SNK HD Collection, Skullgirls, and Tekken 7: Fated Retribution on my Switch. Second, Capcom have been done in DB FighterZ Engine styles for MVCI.
The Injustice 2 story played a huge factor, and Injustice 2 in general. That game had so much content, and the story was amazing. It created a ceiling that MvC:I was never going to be able to beat even if the gameplay for MvC:i was superior.
"Pretty good for a vanilla version of a game"
I dunno man, I feel like more stuff was carried over from UMvC3 than was actually new.
Hardcore Report maybe just a full on capcom vs game. Allows more capcom characters without having to put marvel characters in to balance each side
I’ve been said what we truly need is Capcom vs Nintendo
Capcom x namco
Former Darkstalkers devs are at ArcSys evolving the airdasher formula with Blazblue, Guilty Gear, Persona, and DBZ. It wouldnt be Darkstalkers without those devs making it for Capcom, so since thats not happening...let Darkstalkers keep its dignity.
Rival Schools or Power Stone. Either will be dope to see again.
I didn't mind MODOK being off the roster, but he should have been replaced with anyone more interesting like Loki.
I still do not think that a lack of X-Men was unrecoverable, but what needed to happen was filling the void with characters that would lessen the sting. That is nowhere close to what happened, and the roster was crippled for it.
Maestro getting rid of MODOK was a great move, same with the weird obsession they had with shuma gorath. Loki should've been on
MvC2 is still a fav as well as Capcom vs SNK2. I hope we can get another vs game.
Xavier Cervantes Yeah! Like mvc4 w/xmens and a bunch newcomers. Or CvS3
He said he was gonna do it and he did it
Capcom needs to listen to this.
I think the same. It will serve them at the very least for future projects.
Just because you’re successful at this for being a company doesn’t mean you have to be complacent and lazy all the damn time. Gaming is about evolution, and Capcom continues to forgo this lesson and mature heavily.
Over Kill they need to put in power stone character s red earth character s and Jon Taliban in it.
As much as people joke about it. One of the things that really didn't help this game was the announcement of Dragon Ball FighterZ... A lot of people just felt that game was giving fans everything MvCi wasn't and I think that also ended up hurting sales because people just wanted to wait for FighterZ.
Gadlight
It's more Marvel's/Disney's fault than Capcom.
Yeah it's totally Disney's fault the quality of the game is shit. I swear you people refuse to put any blame on Capcom. YOu know somethings is fucked when DmC Dante looks infinitely better than the DMC3 Dante character model
It's more Capcom's fault than Marvel's/Disney's.
I blame all parties honestly.
The only good thing about this game is jedah dohma
lord beast and Zero
no love for mega man x though?
keyblader2k6 him too
Aspiring Creator For no more that 20$ no doubt
Aspiring Creator nah
imo dbfz, guilty gear xrd and tekken 7 are the best looking fighting games ever and all fighting game devs should look at those for inspiration
Any thoughts about Soul Calibur (compared to 2 HD and 4)?
And what about BBCTB
S-KILL_GR
Already pre-order PS4 and Switch
DBFZ and SFV are the best FG in EVO (artstyle, roster, graphics, gameplay)
Prey sakata nah, looks outdated, they should have used xrd style.
