      @greenfields1221 you've totally missed the point I said calzaghe wouldn't rematch Reid which is facts and wouldn't defend against Froch which is facts I never went into careers and common opponents as I'm sure your aware that he beat him so he would beat him obviously wouldn't determine the outcome of any fight unless you're a clueless casual no offence

    • @rmc4091

      @greenfields1221 it is what it is it never happened but JC was the type of fighter to stay comfortable the wbo in those days ment very little to the top fighters they all wanted the wba.wbc.ibf belts the wbo champion was never rated like the big 3 and Joe's 1st 18 or so world title fights were all wbo and he stayed most of the time in wales/Britain knowing that none of the top Americans at the times wasn't bothered about the wbo so travelling to Britain to challenge for it wasn't attractive some say he was hiding in Wales if you remember Peter manfreado got a shot at Joe's belt if that was nowadays Peter manfreado would be jake Paul's level but calzaghe fans never mention that so Peter manfreado getting a shot at calzaghes belt was credible? But froch not a credible challenger?

    • @rmc4091
      @rmc4091 Год назад

      @greenfields1221 I don't mean former world champions on his record,,, I mean he only held the wbo for his 1st 18 or so world title fights and also he only won ring magazine belt at light heavyweight not a wbc wba ibf or even a wbo

    Ref was way too lenient on Reid he should've penalized him earlier and continued to do so the more he used dirty tactics. Reid did that because of his frustration due to Joes speed mostly, plus Joe outwitted Reid over all and that caused him to have control of the fight. in spite of all that Reid dug down deep and turned it into a slug fest and picked up the pace and it become a brawl and the fans got what they wanted a great fight.

    That was a great fight. I think many of Calzaghe's punches do more damage than they look like they're doing; Reid's face was evidence of that. Reid hits hard, but Calzaghe could take whatever was thrown at him.

      I agree. The announcers kept talking about Calzaghe's punches hitting gloves, but I saw a lot of them getting through. They always pointed out when Reid landed a big one, but always seemed to miss it when Joe got one in. Looking at Reid's face, you can't deny Joe did some damage over the course of the fight.

    The best fighter ever to grace a ring is Salvador Sanchez. Had the best engine of anyone, fought at same pace in round 15 than he did in round one, never was shook, granite chin, superb moving forward as he was going backwards, sublime footwork, could bang with both hands, would slip punches at ease, had every shot in the book, had the same compure for every minute of every round, never once flustered, amazing hand speed, awesome jab, no fighter ever has come close to him and bare in mind he was just 21 when he died, boxers are in their prime come age 27. Toney one of best ever who neglected the gym and his weight said sanchez is the best as did Roy Jones, no more needed to be said.

      I couldn't give it to Reid, he didn't win enough rounds though I would give him a bare minimum of three. There were probably a couple of drawn rounds but Calzaghe was a decisive winner of more than Reid who went to sleep a bit in the sixth and seventh immediately after having a strong fifth. When I say went to sleep, Reid barely threw a punch in those rounds.

    I love this boxer Joe . He was amazing to watch and a class act ! Yes, I would have wanted to see him beat Reid in a rematch.. REID WAS A DIRTY FIGHTER. He deserved a severe ass whooping by Joe Calzaghe. I hated that Joe gave Robin too much respect during and after the fight. Reid hit Calzaghe with a vicious sneaky punch, a low blow to the groin, many rapid punches to the kidneys and hitting before & after the breaks. Reid should have been penalized on these numerous accounts. Reid knew what he was doing! He didn't deserve a rematch with Joe. I wish Joe would have shown Reid that he was pissed about being dirty and disrespectful. If I was in Joe's shoes, I would have told Reid to consider himself lucky because the time we meet maybe fatal !😮

    This was joes first world level fight, not surprised he ducked a rematch, he arguably lost this. Dont blame him no hard feeling waiting 5 years to face someone world level again.

      He went on to fight at least three world champions over the next five years in Woodhall, Mitchell and Brewer. All of those fighters are at a level just as high as Reid ever was. You my friend, are on crack. Edit - not to mention the fact that you’ve ignored his win over Eubank, who was also a world champion. You are just trolling.

      @@georgemorley1029 they were all retiring, it would require crack to believe that retirees are world champions. Eubank came from two divisions away at 2 weeks notice when he was finished. Theres a pattern there if you hadnt noticed. Brewer was not a bad win though. A better choice would be right here - Robin Reid for your cause, he was world class...although the fight can be argued for a reid win easily too.

      @@georgemorley1029 as to my argument though, lacy was defintely the first recognised world title fight Joe had, this is undisputable, unless you are on crack. The WBO were becoming recognised in 2004.

    I'm sorry. Reid won this fight. Its was like watching pitter patter butterfly punches vs power slugging.

      Those pitter patter punches pack a whollop. Ask Lacy and Jones. Boxing the sport is and Calzaghe was a master. He clearly outboxed Reid here

      Perhaps it was the ref that made Reids face look a little mashed, just saying.
