Commentator......... "I don't see Calzaghe beating Hopkins on flair." Has he ever seen Joe Calzaghe fight FFS????
Calzaghe was a brilliant operator and was that good that even after a career of over 40 top quality pro fights under his belt, his face doesn't look like he's ever been a boxer.

He should have been covered much better then he was but considering who he was Joe loved the sport of boxing and was content with the European market, he got a lot further in life with his family always in front of him knowing when the time came, he was that man to beat. Joe and Floyd and Andra ward retired from boxing, boxing didn't retire them.
So many boxers fall sick and live devastating lives as a result of all trauma to head and body. It's nice to see men like Joe Calzaghe and Floyd Mayweather because their the ones who walked away fully intact. Watching Roy Jones still boxing at like 57 years old tells you how #u@ked up boxing is there's no way the people who run boxing should let men over 50 to continue to box but they do George Foreman the man's in his 70s and still trying to make a comeback and he's one of the wealthiest boxers he made a fortune coming back as the oldest boxer, but he took an @$$ whipping like never before and they just kept him in boxing because these promoters dont give a crap about those fighter's they make all the money......look at the upcoming fight Garcia and Davis should be able to get 75 million a piece that fight is going to make at least 500 million when its all over these guys will be lucky to walk away with 3 million dollars this is the biggest fight since Pacquiao and Mayweather and they made more money in one fight then most boxers do in their entire career. I remember this fight and watching it back, more specifically the rhetoric from the American pundits before the fight and the commentators during the fight: the Yanks never faced the reality and the reality was that Joe Calzaghe was a world class fighter.
Even Hopkins himself said he just saw Calzaghe as a white boy. If he'd done his homework he'd have worked out that Calzaghe was a real threat.
In the first round here, one of the commentators remembered that Calzaghe had put Chris Eubank down "....but Hopkins ain't Eubank!!" he quipped.
No..... dickhead. You're right. Bernard Hopkins ain't Chris Eubank. Eubank was far and away a better, harder fighter than Hopkins ever was.... but I guess that didn't fit in with the "USA rules the frikkin' world!" mentality.
So, even with a fighter like Calzaghe going over to the states with his record and with his skill for all to see..... the Yanks STILL refused to accept just how good Calzaghe was..... and that's gonna filter down to the fighters. Hopkins had clearly never done a minute of homework on Calzaghe and so you get what happenned...... Joe Calzaghe gave ignorant, arrogant America yet ANOTHER boxing lesson.

😂😂😂 the commentator Jim Lampley said " Hopkins isn't known for his knockout power, but found it there against Calzaghe", except he didn't knockout Calzaghe! He didn't even hurt him, Calzaghe was caught walking into a perfectly timed straight right, but it wasn't a hard punch whatsoever. Calzaghe was more off balance than anything else and was caught with a beautiful punch, but it wasn't a power punch and you could see that as plain as day when Calzaghe got up straight away and went straight back after Hopkins. Calzaghe landed on the seat of his shorts, his back didn't even touch the canvas, just his ass. I don't know about you but to my understanding, a knockout is when one fighter lands a punch that separates the other fighter from their consciousness, and switches the lights out! Even a TKO(technical knockout) which is where the referee deems that the fighter cannot continue for a particular reason, is not what happened to Joe Calzaghe in this fight, because he was able to continue, and did continue. The reason I'm going on about this, is because lately in both boxing and MMA, the judging in some fights have been criminal, and i think that a lot of the judges are hearing what the commentators are saying during the fight. Now the 3 judges are spread around the ring or cage and obviously the judge who's further away will not hear the commentators, but think about it for a second, because a lot of decisions lately have all 3 judges with vastly different scorecards, and if their watching the same fight and their all competent at their job(judging fights) and they aren't corrupt, then if they are watching the same fight the scorecards can differ but not to the point where 2 judges give it to the one fighter comfortably, but the 3rd judge has the opposite fighter winning by a huge margin, and that shouldn't be happening because these fighters paychecks depend on the correct and fair decision, but most importantly, is the careers of the fighters because losing a fight you actually won, sets your career back by being dropped down the rankings or missing a chance to fight for a world championship and all the money, prestige and opportunities that come with that, but all the blood, sweat and tears and the thousands of hours of hard work and sacrifice you have made to become the world champion and achieve your goal that you've had your whole life, and to be able to change your life, but also your mum and dads life too. Only for it to be snatched away or stolen is a better world, by a judge who has given the wrong decision, and never ever held accountable for their actions either which is also wrong on every level. The reason I started by saying about what the commentator said and got wrong, was because I've went back and watched a lot of these fights that were judged wrong and had the wrong fighter winning, and what I did was watch the fight like normal, but then I would watch the fight again, but with NO VOLUME ON, and to my surprise the fight was a completely different fight, because you had no biased towards a certain fighter, and punches and shots you were told had landed and hurt the other fighter didn't happen at all. In the UFC which i absolutely love, you have 3 commentators and they show you replays of the 3 commentators reactions and expressions and just how animated they actually are during the fights, and my god they are hugely animated and they are shouting and making shocked faces etc, and it's fun and great TV. However, as much as I absolutely LOVE Joe Rogan and Daniel DC Cormier and Jon Anik, Michael Bisping, Paul Felder and Dominick Cruz etc. They all have friends, favourites and former teammates fighting, but they're only human and they have shown bias towards some fighters and the replays of their reactions during a fight, would definitely sway a judge seeing them react that way and especially if the judge missed a punch etc and especially if they don't have a clue what they're watching. Like one of the judges in this fight called ADALAIDE BYRD, SHE HAS ONE OF THE WORST RECORDS OF ANY JUDGE AND HAS RUINED THE TRAJECTORY OF MANY FIGHTERS CAREERS WITHOUT ANY REPERCUSSIONS BECAUSE HER HUSBAND IS A REFEREE. THIS MADNESS HAS GOT TO STOP!!! You work your heart and guts out every single day and do everything right and the right way, only for commentators and mainly judges to derail your whole career through no fault of your own, it's sickening to see!!! Go watch the fights back without the sound on, mute your TV and have no distractions and i promise you that you will see a completely different fight to the one you watched with the commentary, and you end up with a whole new different perception on fights.
