One thing I have to say........ I think Freddie Roach is an amazing trainer and an amazing bloke, especially when you take into account that he's got Parkinsons. His record of, what is it... 27 or 28 World Champions is an unbelievable achievement, he has my utmost respect and utmost gratitude for what he's done in my 2nd favourite sport.
Freddie is a tactical genius, when you lose something due to a disability you earn twice in another sense, so imo what Freddie lost in Parkinson's just went and doubled another sense, similar to autism, some autism kids just BECAUSE of autism don't mean that they don't pick up and master another thing which all focus goes on...THEIR IS PLENTY OF EVIDENCE TO PROVE THIS TWO..REMEMBER THE GUY WHO TRAVELED THE WORLD LOOKING FOR SUPERHUMAN PEOPLE..AND EVERYONE HE WENT TO HE TOOK THEM AWAY FROM EVERYTHING THEY KNEW AND ITS JUST ABSOLUTELY UNBELIEVABLE TO SEE..ID POINT TO MANNY PACQUIAO TO PROVE EVERYTHING HE SUPERCEDIDETE WITH BOXING KNOWLEDGE AND HIS CAPABILITIES IN GETTING HIS FIGHTER'S TO WIN 9 TIMES OUT OF TEN...EVEN JUST SPEAKING TO HIM AND WATCH HIM WORK FOR A WEEK YOU WOULD LEAVE WITH MORE KNOWLEDGE OF BOXING ON A DIFFERENT LEVEL...TEDDY ATLAS IS NOT THE SAME BUT LISTENING TO HIS REACTION TO A FIGHT IS INCREDIBLE...TWO DIFFERENT BUT VERY CLEVER BOXING COACHES WITH BOOKS AND BOOKS OF KNOWLEDGE IF THEY DECIDED TO DO IT ...I THINK FREDDIE SHOULD START BECAUSE HE IS DIFFERENT ALTOGETHER....
I've watched& listened to many an fight with Jim Lampley and Max Kellerman babbling away, sounding knowledgeable, but leaving the audience usually bewildered with their biased analysis! But thankfully Emanuel Stewart was alongside to add some thoughtful insight!..
Hopkins had one of the ugliest styles of all time. He was a spoiler, a dirty fighter, and a terrible loser. It pained me to have to watch him back when he was active.
Calzaghe is one of the greatest fighters of all time. Very underrated by the American press and even the UK press. Loved to watch Joe and glad he retired undefeated.
Calzaghe was a clever skillful fighter with very quick hands, but he lacked elite power. He overwhelmed opponent with massive punch output. I liked Joe but his career was essentially home based living many to wonder just how good he really was. In this Hopkins fight he was a sensation! And of course he was Welsh (😮) and that's good enough for me 😂. 🇺🇲 🇺🇲 🇺🇲 🇺🇲 🇺🇲.
Yeah, has to be some sort of early April Fools joke. Lennox beat: Vitali Klitchko Evander Holyfield Mike Tyson David Tua Frank Bruno Tony Tucker Ray Mercer Shannon Briggs Tommy Morrison Michael Grant. Calzaghe doesn't even have a third of this resume + struggled against hopkins & robin reid - 2 fights that were split decisions, with no rematch. This is partly why Joe doesn't get the same flowers as other fighters from this era. Like a Tyson, Oscar, Hopkins, Roy, Klitschko or Lewis.
I remember this fight and watching it back, more specifically the rhetoric from the American pundits before the fight and the commentators during the fight: the Yanks never faced the reality and the reality was that Joe Calzaghe was a world class fighter. Even Hopkins himself said he just saw Calzaghe as a white boy. If he'd done his homework he'd have worked out that Calzaghe was a real threat. In the first round here, one of the commentators remembered that Calzaghe had put Chris Eubank down "....but Hopkins ain't Eubank!!" he quipped. No..... dickhead. You're right. Bernard Hopkins ain't Chris Eubank. Eubank was far and away a better, harder fighter than Hopkins ever was.... but I guess that didn't fit in with the "USA rules the frikkin' world!" mentality. So, even with a fighter like Calzaghe going over to the states with his record and with his skill for all to see..... the Yanks STILL refused to accept just how good Calzaghe was..... and that's gonna filter down to the fighters. Hopkins had clearly never done a minute of homework on Calzaghe and so you get what happenned...... Joe Calzaghe gave ignorant, arrogant America yet ANOTHER boxing lesson.
Hopkins won that fight for sure. The knock down, the clean punches, controlling the pace of the fight. It was a Hopkins fight Eubank is not remotely in the same league as Hopkins. Don't be silly
Hopkins has been considered as one of the dirtiest fighters, he's been resorting to arm clinching, headbutts and other dirty tactics. No respect for that dirty guy at all..
😂😂😂 the commentator Jim Lampley said " Hopkins isn't known for his knockout power, but found it there against Calzaghe", except he didn't knockout Calzaghe! He didn't even hurt him, Calzaghe was caught walking into a perfectly timed straight right, but it wasn't a hard punch whatsoever. Calzaghe was more off balance than anything else and was caught with a beautiful punch, but it wasn't a power punch and you could see that as plain as day when Calzaghe got up straight away and went straight back after Hopkins. Calzaghe landed on the seat of his shorts, his back didn't even touch the canvas, just his ass. I don't know about you but to my understanding, a knockout is when one fighter lands a punch that separates the other fighter from their consciousness, and switches the lights out! Even a TKO(technical knockout) which is where the referee deems that the fighter cannot continue for a particular reason, is not what happened to Joe Calzaghe in this fight, because he was able to continue, and did continue. The reason I'm going on about this, is because lately in both boxing and MMA, the judging in some fights have been criminal, and i think that a lot of the judges are hearing what the commentators are saying during the fight. Now the 3 judges are spread around the ring or cage and obviously the judge who's further away will not hear the commentators, but think about it for a second, because a lot of decisions lately have all 3 judges with vastly different scorecards, and if their watching the same fight and their all competent at their job(judging fights) and they aren't corrupt, then if they are watching the same fight the scorecards can differ but not to the point where 2 judges give it to the one fighter comfortably, but the 3rd judge has the opposite fighter winning by a huge margin, and that shouldn't be happening because these fighters paychecks depend on the correct and fair decision, but most importantly, is the careers of the fighters because losing a fight you actually won, sets your career back by being dropped down the rankings or missing a chance to fight for a world championship and all the money, prestige and opportunities that come with that, but all the blood, sweat and tears and the thousands of hours of hard work and sacrifice you have made to become the world champion and achieve your goal that you've had your whole life, and to be able to change your life, but also your mum and dads life too. Only for it to be snatched away or stolen is a better world, by a judge who has given the wrong decision, and never ever held accountable for their actions either which is also wrong on every level. The reason I started by saying about what the commentator said and got wrong, was because I've went back and watched a lot of these fights that were judged wrong and had the wrong fighter winning, and what I did was watch the fight like normal, but then I would watch the fight again, but with NO VOLUME ON, and to my surprise the fight was a completely different fight, because you had no biased towards a certain fighter, and punches and shots you were told had landed and hurt the other fighter didn't happen at all. In the UFC which i absolutely love, you have 3 commentators and they show you replays of the 3 commentators reactions and expressions and just how animated they actually are during the fights, and my god they are hugely animated and they are shouting and making shocked faces etc, and it's fun and great TV. However, as much as I absolutely LOVE Joe Rogan and Daniel DC Cormier and Jon Anik, Michael Bisping, Paul Felder and Dominick Cruz etc. They all have friends, favourites and former teammates fighting, but they're only human and they have shown bias towards some fighters and the replays of their reactions during a fight, would definitely sway a judge seeing them react that way and especially if the judge missed a punch etc and especially if they don't have a clue what they're watching. Like one of the judges in this fight called ADALAIDE BYRD, SHE HAS ONE OF THE WORST RECORDS OF ANY JUDGE AND HAS RUINED THE TRAJECTORY OF MANY FIGHTERS CAREERS WITHOUT ANY REPERCUSSIONS BECAUSE HER HUSBAND IS A REFEREE. THIS MADNESS HAS GOT TO STOP!!! You work your heart and guts out every single day and do everything right and the right way, only for commentators and mainly judges to derail your whole career through no fault of your own, it's sickening to see!!! Go watch the fights back without the sound on, mute your TV and have no distractions and i promise you that you will see a completely different fight to the one you watched with the commentary, and you end up with a whole new different perception on fights.
The national anthems at the beginning were so unbearably cringe 🤢 lol. Anyway, remember this fight well, and so happy Calzaghe beat Hopkins. Dirtiest fighter I've seen and no respect at all.

He should fight mayweather
@@johnhannah2196 they are both retired. Plus, both different weight categories.
If you love the fine art of excessive holding, this was a great fight.
Yes, Hopkins did it all through his career, which was a shame because he was a great boxer.
And the acting was exceptional so he could catch his breath
@@popecosh307 Yes the "low blow" which the ref should have ignored and made him box on.
Calzaghe had to dig deep with all the bullshit by Hopkins, but he showed that he was good enough to get thru it all.
Gayweather is a master too

kellerman is way overrated
but very loud.

Agree. Clueless

Well done with the sound in the last round....
Freddie was a good Boxer as well, Good Boxer makes good Trainer
Yes, he's been amazing and determined..Maybe u Gooner's had better hire him for nxt season!
I've watched& listened to many an fight with Jim Lampley and Max Kellerman babbling away, sounding knowledgeable, but leaving the audience usually bewildered with their biased analysis!
But thankfully Emanuel Stewart was alongside to add some thoughtful insight!..

Why do these relatively young boxers fight old boxers who were legends in there day, beat the old guy & then think they are a legend?

calzaghe always goes down in the first rounds then he always turn the heat on
The Jones knock down wasn’t even a punch
The worse ref to enter a boxing ring.
Yup. That ref is crooked af. Street thug
Calzaghe is one of the greatest fighters of all time. Very underrated by the American press and even the UK press. Loved to watch Joe and glad he retired undefeated.
He's my boxing hero. Absolute legend and hugely underrated by everyone
@@pip393 He actually had power but could not fully use it as his hands were too brittle. He had a decent KO ratio in his first 30 fights.
thanks
Best ever British Boxer Calzaghe by a landslide, Lennox 2nd.
I wouldn't say by a landslide. It's between him, Lewis and Froch.
Yeah, has to be some sort of early April Fools joke.
Lennox beat:
Vitali Klitchko
Evander Holyfield
Mike Tyson
David Tua
Frank Bruno
Tony Tucker
Ray Mercer
Shannon Briggs
Tommy Morrison
Michael Grant.
Froch had a way better resume than Joe, but I'd say legacy wise it's tight.@@shaz2761
Hopkins looked like he thought he turned up for a waltz or maybe a wrestling match.

Best way to watch this fight is with the volume off , Lampley and Kellerman are annoying so biased .
World Class Hug Fest!

Not really. Hopkins was a master at counter punching. You don't fight this level of fighter like that. You need to be smarter and pick your moments.
No sound at all from the middle if the 11th round to the end of the fight
Love it.
Bernard lost because of the way the anthem was sung by Ray J. It is a fucking anthem not a love song
Who's Ray j???
It was a Hopkins fight
Eubank is not remotely in the same league as Hopkins. Don't be silly
the dude 3 or 4 rows back with the shades on, too cool LOL....
That was a great statement Joe said 😂, he said i don't wanna lose to a,black ,green, blue, white brown, fighter either!!!

Hopkins has been considered as one of the dirtiest fighters, he's been resorting to arm clinching, headbutts and other dirty tactics. No respect for that dirty guy at all..
but he has been so oppressed by the White man ??!!??
Joe Calzaghe has NEVER been a dirty fighter!
Roberto Duran was a dirty fighter too.
This fight have the record of hugs in a fights . Looks more to me like a dancing contest
Definitely Hopkins wanted to hold and slow dance all the way through
The sound cut out in the 12th round and didn’t come back.
Joe beat Hopkins and Roy jones two legends so who should be remenber more Joe deserves more credit a true legend
Many RIP, the greatest boxing trainer of all time!
I lost all my respect for Hopkins when he said he refused to loose to a white man he actually showed his hidden racist heart
this was no surprise..he's always been an undercover Racist ..but its ok because he's been oppressed by the White Man !
Hopkins “I told you so” remark aged like milk in the sun. 😆
The national anthems at the beginning were so unbearably cringe 🤢 lol. Anyway, remember this fight well, and so happy Calzaghe beat Hopkins. Dirtiest fighter I've seen and no respect at all.
A thin line separates a technical fight from a lousy fight! This one is a classic example!
None of Hopkins fights were pretty to watch
I remember this fight, I remember Hopkins writing joe off, the commentators practically writing Joe off.. great fight and showed the yanks

Ray J 's N Anthem was Horrible

it's interesting some of the punches Joe Calzaghe throws aren't even punches at all. it's like a flailing, slapping , claw attack.
When he really gets going on the combinations, sometimes.
No sound last 10mins. What's that about ?
It's truly a mystery why Calzaghe was such an unsung legend during and since his invincible boxing career.
Because he was knownas a slapper, didn’t always connect clean with his punches and fought sub standard opponents or ones that where good 5-10 years ago I.e Hopkins Roy Jones jnr, that were past their prime I mean old man Hopkins gave him his hardest ever fight a split decision 🙄 that’s why maybe 🤔I mean other fighters Peter manfredo really 🙄🤦♂️ Kessler was half decent and younger but even tho he gave JC a tough fight was too inexperienced, Hopkins was just too experienced I.e too old!
Not much a mystery. He didn't fight in the U.S. till the end of his career. I'm sure he wasn't unknown in Europe.
