@Greenfields 12 Joe had his chance to prove it by coming to New York or Las Vegas to prove it. Roy Jones was already considered an all time great before he moved up and lost to Antonio Tarver. I never hear Joe Calzaghe name mentioned or considered an all time great. I don't even think Joe Calzaghe is in the boxing hall of Fame is he?

Calzaghe is phenomenal. Broken hands, no sparring, less training before this match but...He Wins! He's got something inside that goes beyond boxe! What a fighter!
Joe had something the vast majority of top level British boxers don’t have. The ability to adjust, adapt and overcome in any fight against any opponent. Not something you can easily teach someone, but it’s a mark of greatness.
British fighters are generally very stiff and basic. Calzaghe was so fluid and varied, just totally unique for his environment. Which probably comes from being trained by a total outsider in his dad, who had his own ideas.
@@darrengoodwin9819 how did he struggle against Eubank. Put him down twice and outpointed him easily. Eubank only 31 at the time. After this fight with Joe, Chris Eubank arguably put up 2 of the best performances of his career in his magnificent fights with Carl Thompson at Cruiserweight. Easily defeated Roy Jnr who admittedly was past his best. As for Hopkins he might have been the best over 40 athlete in the history of boxing. Joe clearly won 8 rounds. Hopkins had to resort to feigning injuries as he as fit as he was couldn’t keep up with Joe. Don’t be applying for a job as a boxing journalist anytime soon.

If calzaghe ever felt he didnt get the recognition he deserved/deserves, he just needs to listen to emanuel...if he says your one of the best, you are.
if you notice the expert people have always expressed themselves positively and some with enthusiasm in the confonti of Joe Calzaghe, the garbage comments came exclusively from youtube.
+Manuel P. A lot of the reason why is because of American Vs. British fans and the back and forth that usually ensues when they compare fighters from their respective lands. One side of people try to downplay a boxer’s career/ability from the other side of the ocean and vice versa

Two amazing fighters. Joe is the best fighter ever to come from these shores. Amazingly slick and skillful, can take a punch and goes non stop. It's fighters like him that get people interested in boxing.
RYKKKKKK No argument in the modern era but spoke to father and he says look up Ted Lewis. Very difficult to compare fighters from the 1910's something ridiculous like 300 fights so I will say modern era.
Calzaghe was amazing, unbelievable workrate and fitness for a SMW. He punched hard and knocked guys out earlier in his career before he injured his left hand, but compensated with unbelievable speed and silky southpaw skills and intelligence in the latter of his fights. Great fighter, always found a way to win and had a great fighting heart.
Everyone has under rated Joe Calzaghe, all the way through his entire career, all the way up to the finish. Yet... Joe is not only unbeaten, but... was there any fight Joe ever had where he even legitimately looked in trouble? Under rate him all you want... he's one of the best ever.
@@mizofan Right? It's amazing his career lasted as long as it did. If it had lasted 3-4 more, that've have been really incredible. Incredible speed. Incredible motor. Didn't let another guy bully him around the ring. I bet when his hands were healthier, he hit harder. He's one of the few boxers that all the way to the end of his career, he was relying on his speed. Most boxers get slower but tend to hit harder as they age. Ironically... not Joe. Maybe that's why he was successful... He knew he could never rely on his hands for insano power so he just plays this game of beating you down round after round after round. Love watching his fights :)

just about every fight of Joe is 1000 punches if it goes the full 12 rounds. Nobody like Joe. He makes many other fighters look dull and boring. The wonderful southpaw mentality. Bring it forward ! like the PACMAN.
Calzagne was one of the most underrated boxers of a generation!!! The speed of his hands really were incredible. The only negative thing I can think of about him his that he had terribly weak hands and they were constantly prone to broken bones in his hands which was the reason I tended to slab alot with some of his punches. I can remember one fight were he broke his hand in the first or second round but then he outboxed the other guy one handed for the next 10 to 11 rounds. It was incredible. His punches were so accurate and so fast that not many could defend such a vast amount of punches being thrown in a few seconds!!! Amazing talent from the UK
I think it was the slapping that caused the hand injuries. See him when he was young, he slapped the same but punched harder, he was bound to break his hands

Can anyone explain why Americans are so against calzaghe. Even against a non-American the commentators seem against him. 46-0 record, fought anyone who would. Proved all wrong at every level. Why wasn't it enough?
ben dain-smith He avoided fighting outside of the UK until the end of his career. He came along at the end of one of the most exciting era's in the super middleweight division. We had a guys like Michael Watson who was an even slicker version of Kessler, we also had Nigel Benn and Eubank in their primes. They fought and beat far better fighters than Calzaghe, they fought more frequently and had amassed just as many fights in their late 20's early 30's than Joe did in his late 30's. Although most wont argue that Cal was the most skilled out of Benn and Eubank, he was never really tested because he didn't push himself. He didn't attain his perfect record from fighting the best in their primes, he waited until guys were past it like Roy who had been KO'd twice before they fought but he claimed after their fight that he ended Roy's career.... Not many believe he would have beaten Hopkins in his prime Judging by their fight where hops was really competitive at the age of 42, which is the age Joe is right now.
To me it comes down to the US being a large place and most US boxing fans relating more to US fighters. Some great US fighters avoided certain opponents or rematches. Calzaghe is not alone in doing that. - The problem for Calzaghe with many US fans is that he is a foreign fighter and he didn't fight very often in the US. To build a large following in the US a foreign fighter has to have a lot of fights in the US. Otherwise a foreign fighter, no matter how good, is just not going to get that much respect from a lot of fans here. - This fight was a good example of that. Kessler is a top 10 all time super middleweight on many boxing website lists. Calzaghe beating him and being undefeated should make Calzaghe a very highly rated all time super middleweight. But that's not the way it works for a lot of US fans. Calzaghe is from Wales and he didn't fight most of the time in the US against US fighters. So, that's why so many US fans on RUclips don't consider him to be very good. - I'm unusual. I'm a US boxing fan of many years who has seen lots of fights. And I consider Calzaghe to have been an excellent fighter. Another great foreign boxer who is not well known in the US is Carlos Monzon, a middleweight from Argentina. Imo a person doesn't have to be born in the US and fight a lot in the US to be considered great. Edit; mr t mentioned Michael Watson, Nigel Benn and Chris Eubank. Eubank beat Watson and fought Benn to a draw. Calzaghe beat Eubank.
bb1111116 I hate the term lucky punch, but if Eubank fought Watson 10 times he'd lose 9 times. Eubank was in his prime when he fought Watson and he clearly lost their 1st fight and he was losing every round of their 2nd fight until he landed that punch. Lets not forget that Watson also went toe to toe with Benn and stopped him easily. Eubank came out of retirement when he fought Calzaghe, he was passed his prime and had already amassed more fights than Calzaghe's entire career in his late 20's. Gerald Mcclellan was also a far better fighter than Benn but he lost to him under extremely strange circumstances cause by a headbutt. That era of the super middleweight division was insane, unfortunately Calzaghe came slightly later, so he should have seeked out all the highly rated fighters in his time. Calzaghe said he would never fight in Germany against Sven Ottke who was rated equal to Calzaghe at that time. Bear in mind that Eubank fought in Germany against an undefeated champion and he experienced racism from the crowd throughout that fight but he still won. What was Calzaghe's excuse?
@mr t; Ottke fought Byron Mitchell winning by a split decision in Germany. And that same year Calzaghe knocked Mitchell out in the second round. So, Calzaghe fought someone who was at Ottke's level (Mitchell was an all time good fighter) and clearly beat him. - As for an Ottke fight, many famous fighters have ducked fights. I don't know the details about why Ottke and Calzaghe didn't fight. Maybe Calzaghe wanted to fight in a neutral country? He had a fight in Denmark in 2001 while Ottke never fought outside of Germany (except for one fight in Austria). - As for Eubank, talking about lucky punches and who is in their prime is besides the point. Eubank was still a title contender when he fought Calzaghe. Calzaghe beat Eubank and Kessler. And Ottke didn't fight those boxers. Ottke did defeat Brewer and Reid but so did Calzaghe. Using the top 10 all time super middleweight rankings from boxingscene.com, Calzaghe fought the better fighters.
bb1111116 Mitchell wasn't as good as Ottke at that point in his career, Ottke used to point out that Calzaghe would only beat people after that had already been beaten by him, lol. I also belive that Calzaghe would have beaten Ottke but the fact that he didn't seriously push to have that fight pissed me off. I also would have loved if Calzaghe had fought Hopkins and James Toney earlier in his career, or made the move to light heavy by taking on and beating Dariusz Michalczewski before facing a prime Roy. This would have made him extremely famous early on in his career if he had beaten either one, but he didn't push himself.
A man who gives it all he’s got, not many as good as Joe. I see a little boy doing what he has to to please his dad. Amazing story. This match was one of his best challenges. A damn shame he’s not been recognised enough worldwide.
The great thing about watching this fight live was the longer it went, you knew Calzaghe would win on points, but at thesame time you felt Kessler could win by stoppage, and also felt Calzaghe could score a knockdown. It was great :-)
Calzaghe absolute legen,d I'm sorry that the rest of us English never gave you the respect you deserved Back then. One of my all time favourite fighters this guy has a hit list boxers can only dream of
Did you keep a straight face when you typed that? He was elevated in a lot of peoples eyes when he slapped a grossly overrated Jeff Lacey for 12 rounds. He avoided Roy Jones like the plague until Roy Jones was so shot to pieces that my 6 year old daughter could have beaten him, and Cal-slappy STILL struggled to beat him. He gave up any titles that he slapped his way to with the exception of the WBO belt because they were happy to let him defend against mediocre opposition. Best super middleweight of all time? Absolutely not. Roy Jones was better, James Toney was better, Nigel Benn was better, they never avoided anyone. They fought the best when the best were at their peaks.

The American boxing publics biggest humiliation was Joe calzaghe, when he absolutely battered jeff lacy. The yanks were utterly convinced calzaghe would be embarrassed, but Joe turned on a masterclass and completely dominated Jeff lacy. The yanks still don't respect Joe. Apart from the truly educated American boxing fan, the yanks think boxing starts and stops in America That's why so many of them have lost their way in boxing recently. Europeans and South Americans are taking over.
Calzaghe was in a class of his own. People say that he slaps, well he slaps hard enough, accurate enough and fast enough to remain unbeaten. I think he would have beaten jones jr and hopkins in their primes. there was no escaping Calzaghe's constant assaults.
100%! "Hard work beats talent when talent can't work hard", Joe is also a tough nut!, took the punches as well as giving them and never shy'd away from an 'exchange', a prime Jones may have prolonged the very outcome of their encounter by a couple of rounds at best!, but my argument always is on the basis of a 'fair assessment', you compare a prime Jones, hopkins etc. to a younger calzaghe, I can't even use the term 'prime' alongside Joes name because he is one fighter who never showed signs of slowing down right up to his last punch of his last fight
@@johnnysheridan B/C of his hand trouble he was forced to do this. He was truly amazing. But you can see it over his career, early in all KO's, Then later his style had to change. His was forced to try to preserve the left hand. You can see it clearly in a few of his fights when he was knocked down, He would get fierce with the left for a round or two, killer fierce. Watch what happens to Byron Mitchell when he knocks Joe down early. Joe brings out his big gun and the fight gets stopped in the same round. Joe never lost his power but he was forced to use it only when he knew he had too. SMART, great fighter.
Calzaghe was never a big hitter, rarely got rid of boxers with his punching power, but his agility, skill, workrate, and quick flurry of punches, that landed more often than not, got him ovet the line. His record speaks for itself, he was a brilliant fighter.
Even with the slaps, Calzaghe was still far from a weak hitter, especially before he had brittle hands. One of the things Chris Eubank talked about was how hard Calzaghe really punched back then, and I certainly believe him. Joe put Chris on the canvas in the first round.
the trouble is with Calzaghe is he throws 300 punches in the first round then runs out of steam throwing 299 in the last round just can`t go the distance.
“I think Calzaghe is starting to dominate the pace of the fight, I could be wrong, though”- but I’m Emanuel Steward so obviously I’m not wrong. There, finished it for you, you were one of the best and most experienced experts of the sport.
Don't think Calzaghe gets the much deserved respect he should have, I mean unbeatable for the amount of time as a champion boxer. BIG RESPECT TO JOE CALZAGHE.
Calzaghe took some seriously heavy power punches from Kessler. Calzaghe has the most amazing stamina and chin that I've ever seen in a boxer. I've seen Ray Robinson fights and some of the punishment he took. I'm seeing similarities in both fighters.
Kessler at his best was very accurate and varied his punches well early on but Calzaghe has such great stamina and forces fighters to fight at a much greater pace than they're used to. He just seems to mentally wear his opponents down. Great technical fight from both fighters.
Prime Roy Jones Jr. is the greatest 168 pound fighter of all time without a shade of the doubt. Calzaghe is the second best, he was a tremendeus fighter, can't take nothing away from the man.
I see you are having to cope in other videos comments as well pmsl I can justify being here just watching old fights of some of the best ever (just finished with a Lewis fight), you are just desperately crying about the same fighter.
It's funny how biased the HBO crew is, well everyone except Emmanuel Steward. When he fights Kessler, a non American, they are raving about how impressive Calzaghe is, and how is such a great. Then when he fights Roy Jones Jr, they just talk about how great Roy was in his prime and don't give Calzaghe any credit. Such bullshittery.
The HBO commentary in the Calzaghe vs Jones was totally disgraceful. As you mentioned, Manny Steward was the only one even trying to be objective. RIP Manny
it pisses me off that nobody puts him in the converstation with mayweather cuz joe never had contract disputes or put off fights for years. truly one to the greatest ever
Mayweather = fraud. Selected his opponents far from their peaks, he has lost 2 or 3 fights too but the bout were in US...like someone 's said above if Joe Calzaghe was american he 'd be regarded like the GOAT by everybody.
dont get me wrong i think a prime rjj beats calzaghe. but calz was an amazing fighter, i mean look at this fight he made kessler miss pretty much all of his punches yet the commentators didn't pick up on that, the first 2 rounds especially. this is a carbon copy of how a fight with froch would've been. i am pretty much 100 percent convinced of that.
Calzaghe fought a smart fight. Calzaghe kept punching Kessler in the stomach even if Kessler landed. All of his bodyshots landed ALL OF THEM in the first 3rds. That was then beginning of the end for Kessler. If Kessler defended that better he could of been the winner. Great fight!!
Kessler's Limitations as a body puncher were significant, usually if you are a good body puncher you know how to defend against them well also and Vica versa, Kess is still one of my Faves
Joe boxing at his best imo. Guard up, taking hard shots and landing 2's and 3's. He was switched on for this one and you could tell after round 3 he upped his game. Beautiful boxing.
You want to know if someone was great just listen to Emanuel Steward, The guy didn't know how to be biased, If you could box he told it like it was. Easily my favourite commentator and trainer, r.i.p.
The only time that I disagree with this is when Floyd Mayweather was fighting. Especially during the baldomir fight. Roy Jones was the unbiased commentator IMO.
Yeah 9-3 Calzaghe for me. Gave Kess the 2nd, 4th and 12th. Impressed by Calzaghe's stamina, work rate and chin. Also his bravery. Gets hit and often leaves himself open to strike back, and very aggressive for an allusive boxer. Deserved 46-0
As a dane who was also a fan of Calzaghe this was a difficult fight to watch. Only when Calzaghe started disrespecting Kessler did I fully side with Kessler.
Kessler is so solid. Big puncher. Always balanced. Great counter puncher. Solid jab. Just a good solid all around fighter. But Calzaghe is just overwhelming. He's just a maniac. He throws and throws and throws. Sometimes he slaps his punches but he's the hardest slapper I've ever seen.
Kessler fought a great fight. Nothing to feel sorry about here for the Great Dane. Very brave. Never gave up. Dejected and beaten he kept swinging for the KO.
Kessler went down and they claimed it was a "SLIP"... that was a clear body shot that put him down.. slowed this down and watched it over and over again.. Clearly a Knock down.
As a Welshman, and a huge Calzaghe fan. That was a slip. If you slow the video you can see Kessler tripping over his own foot as they dodged each other’s punches.
Something left out by the commentators: Calzaghe is also the combination fighter. He can get of with the hab first and follow with another punch before the counter comes. You don't need to be a power puncher if you hit the opponent twice as often.
I love the excuses for lacy.. saying how he wasn't so great, yet they was all saying how he was the future of boxing the day of the fight with joe... but joe makes him look like nothing and all of a sudden "well yeah lacy was always shit.." haha
I think joe gave him such a beating he never recovered mentally. When you fight a guy and get so soundly and convincingly beaten, you know youll never make it to that level. You never recover from that
Man I’m sorry but this is the one area those defending Calzaghe need to drop. Drop the Lacy crap. I lived in the states at the time and trust me no one followed boxing at 168 or cared who Lacy was. And even if he was said to be something great he was proven to not be...so that’s that. Lacy proved to be a poor fighter
lacy was hype you can't dispute that, yes he was an undefeated fighter but the only recognised name he beat coming into the fight was Omar Sheika. This is why the Lacy win is totally overrated.
I think when two fighters come from two different countries the fight should be fought in a third neutral country. fighting in Wales did indeed give Calzaghe the edge.
Anon F you are right. I see kessler won . Judges were counting all little brushing taps coming from joe cal. Kessler was a real fighter in the ring. Believe me. just watch again. Joe was even clintching all the time.
Calzaghe would just outwork you. It was like a test of the fittest, very impressive. Underrated chin too, gets caught with good body and head shots bu5 just keeps coming at you. This was a prime Kessler too
I watched this in a bar in Amsterdam but the bloody bar closed half way through the fight. We managed to quickly find somewhere else showing it but must have missed about 3 rounds.
funny how calzage has to "move up" for jones, but you dont rule out hopkins for needing to move up. You failed there. Joe was never interested in prime hopkins! Same for anyone prime and good.He just used his name. Hopkins never turned down the fight, he simply asked for pay to compensate his missed 3 deal fight leading to De La Hoya. Joe knew he couldnt pay Hopkins that, thats why he used hopkins name, because he knew it would never happen.
because you hit joe he hits you back harder, you hit joe and his chin is like steel... that's impossible to face when you don't have the tools to face it. Kessler had no chance in 100 fights he'd have lost them all. An incredible figher, he was just unlucky enough to be in the era of calzague and ward.
I think Kessler won the last round, and two or maybe three of the earlier ones, but no more than that. Although it was always a close contest, Kessler rarely tried to be the aggressor (and when he did late on, Calzaghe nullified his attack, making him miss) and after some early success countering Calzaghe, the Welshman adapted and stopped getting hit most of the time, all the while steadily landing combinations of short punches and single jabs, as well as mixing in a lot of neat body shots. Kessler needed to take it to Calzaghe more and have more success, but his great accuracy was foiled by Calzaghe's good upper body movement, so it's hard to imagine him winning against Joe unless Joe had a bad night, and didn't put the work in. It's a shame that there was that break for a warning in round 8 (though Calzaghe put himself in that position with that rabbit punch, presumably just hititng any part of Kessler he could on instinct), it was the only opportunity for Calzaghe to really let a long flurry of shots go against Kessler against the ropes while the Dane was forced to cover up and recover for a few seconds, and it would have been interesting to see if Calzaghe could have achieved greater dominance.
As a dane like kessler, i 100p agree with everything you wrote, you said kessler won the 12th and 2 or 3 others, well i have him winning the 2nd, 4th, 12th with round 5 and 7 both being a 10-10.

Well done Joe on this performance but also credit to Mikkel Kessler who came back to win the world title again after this fight.
I used to love seeing every opponent corner saying "wait for him to tire" .... I think they are still waiting now!
Waiting for Calzaghe to tire was like waiting for Joe Frazier to quit. Calzaghe's stamina was endless.
Two amazing fighters. Joe is the best fighter ever to come from these shores. Amazingly slick and skillful, can take a punch and goes non stop. It's fighters like him that get people interested in boxing.

One of the best fights I've ever seen. Kessler is impressive, but Calzaghe is aaaaaamazing.
He did look in trouble against Hopkins and Roy Jones when he got dropped in the first round against both.
@@markydan1232 ya I'd concede for about 10 seconds in each of those fights, it looked like joe wasn't dominating.
@@jonathanmillner true 😂
Mitchell knocked him down, as a few others did, but he always bounced back. If he hadn't had bad hand problems he would have destroyed more opponents.
9-3 to Calzaghe, he was extremely aggressive, 1010 punches is crazy.
just about every fight of Joe is 1000 punches if it goes the full 12 rounds.
Only Amir Khan has faster hands. But Amir can't take a punch.

Using the top 10 all time super middleweight rankings from boxingscene.com, Calzaghe fought the better fighters.
bb1111116
Mitchell wasn't as good as Ottke at that point in his career, Ottke used to point out that Calzaghe would only beat people after that had already been beaten by him, lol.
I've seen Calzaghe start slow once, but never slow down as the fight goes the distance!
Joe was giving away 7 years, height and reach and yet the way he adjusted to his opponent and got a convincing win was a sight to behold.

SMART, great fighter.

this man is a legend. only one who can outbox these undefeated champions so beautifly.
Calzaghe was just a great fighter. Wonderful boxer, smooth and slick. Loved to watch him. This was a great performance by Calzaghe.
Calzaghe was never a big hitter, rarely got rid of boxers with his punching power, but his agility, skill, workrate, and quick flurry of punches, that landed more often than not, got him ovet the line. His record speaks for itself, he was a brilliant fighter.
He knocked 32 of his 46 opponents out lol
Even with the slaps, Calzaghe was still far from a weak hitter, especially before he had brittle hands. One of the things Chris Eubank talked about was how hard Calzaghe really punched back then, and I certainly believe him. Joe put Chris on the canvas in the first round.
And 32 KOs out of 46 fights also isnt something you would see from someone who doesn’t hit hard
the trouble is with Calzaghe is he throws 300 punches in the first round then runs out of steam throwing 299 in the last round just can`t go the distance.
Try saying that to Jeff lacey who got hit with 800 of his punches and he went all 12 rounds and at no point did joe slow down.

What a fight. Steward knew his shit.
dont get me wrong i think a prime rjj beats calzaghe. but calz was an amazing fighter, i mean look at this fight he made kessler miss pretty much all of his punches yet the commentators didn't pick up on that, the first 2 rounds especially. this is a carbon copy of how a fight with froch would've been. i am pretty much 100 percent convinced of that.
Calzaghe fought a past it Jones but watch the fight again ? Jones tactics, which dont diminish by age, were slight and basic. Watch again !!!!

Manny ...”Calzaghe top 2 or 3 pound for pound in the world”. I won’t argue with that.
As a dane who was also a fan of Calzaghe this was a difficult fight to watch. Only when Calzaghe started disrespecting Kessler did I fully side with Kessler.

Thanks for the upload.. my library has been decimated with RUclips rule
True true
So proud he was a Welsh man
Kessler fought a great fight. Nothing to feel sorry about here for the Great Dane. Very brave. Never gave up. Dejected and beaten he kept swinging for the KO.
u hit joe hard he will hit u back 20 times omore heart of a lion
Kessler went down and they claimed it was a "SLIP"... that was a clear body shot that put him down.. slowed this down and watched it over and over again.. Clearly a Knock down.
As a Welshman, and a huge Calzaghe fan. That was a slip. If you slow the video you can see Kessler tripping over his own foot as they dodged each other’s punches.
Something left out by the commentators: Calzaghe is also the combination fighter. He can get of with the hab first and follow with another punch before the counter comes. You don't need to be a power puncher if you hit the opponent twice as often.
J C would have found a way to beat any man.. imo he is a GOAT
I love the excuses for lacy.. saying how he wasn't so great, yet they was all saying how he was the future of boxing the day of the fight with joe... but joe makes him look like nothing and all of a sudden "well yeah lacy was always shit.." haha
To be fair, he was shit afterwards, did Joe ruin him though?
I think joe gave him such a beating he never recovered mentally. When you fight a guy and get so soundly and convincingly beaten, you know youll never make it to that level. You never recover from that
Man I’m sorry but this is the one area those defending Calzaghe need to drop. Drop the Lacy crap. I lived in the states at the time and trust me no one followed boxing at 168 or cared who Lacy was. And even if he was said to be something great he was proven to not be...so that’s that. Lacy proved to be a poor fighter
Lacy was never great. He was a Tyson-wannabe built up by a desperate network (Showtime).
lacy was hype you can't dispute that, yes he was an undefeated fighter but the only recognised name he beat coming into the fight was Omar Sheika. This is why the Lacy win is totally overrated.
JC's adjustment was beautiful. By rnd 6 he'd downloaded Kessler's patterns.

What a fight, watched it about 5 times. 2 prime fighters going at it. Calzaghe is a legend best to come out of Britain
I think when two fighters come from two different countries the fight should be fought in a third neutral country. fighting in Wales did indeed give Calzaghe the edge.
+Anon Frank Fuck off. Joe beat Jones in New York. What are you on about? More excuses I think.
Most of Joe's fights weren't in Wales.
Anon F you are right. I see kessler won . Judges were counting all little brushing taps coming from joe cal. Kessler was a real fighter in the ring. Believe me. just watch again. Joe was even clintching all the time.
@@joejaga are you new to boxing. .you think kessler won..come on have a bit of objectivity. He put up a great fighter but he got beat
Carl 123 Jones Jr was an old man bitch
Today is great to look back at this.
Love the way Joe doesnt give his opponents time to breathe & makes the fight stay at his pace.
This is y first time to watch Calzaghe’s fight and my impression is, his style is similar to Darchinyan, the fighter from Australia.
You gotta hand it to calzaghe when he fought the big fights he totally dominated everyone
yeah dominated 48 year old Hopkins and washed up Jones Jr lool
i agree far, he stepped it up bigtime when it mattered
Eric Tyce * 42 year old
funny how calzage has to "move up" for jones, but you dont rule out hopkins for needing to move up.
Washed up jones???
haha imagine buffer announcing you like that - always my fave intro from him
two champions !
Kessler wasnt aggressive enough
If he was more aggressive he would've been hit with a lot more punches. He fought at his best, but against the better man.
because you hit joe he hits you back harder, you hit joe and his chin is like steel... that's impossible to face when you don't have the tools to face it. Kessler had no chance in 100 fights he'd have lost them all.
An incredible figher, he was just unlucky enough to be in the era of calzague and ward.
The uppercut in the 4th broke Kessler's heart, he knew he weren't winning after that.
That's the Kessler uppercut btw.
I think Kessler deserves more credit than that. Joe would win more than 50 of the fights though.
Kessler v Froch was one of the greatest fights I ever saw.
Jo kalzagh he's a great fighter hand spread no one can beat him in my eyes yours ZIGGY NESTA MARLEY FROM THE LEICESTERSHIRE COUNTRYSIDE IN ENGLAND RESPECT TO Jo
Great skills, High frequency constant attack, good defense, tremendous shape, good chin - Calzahge.
The first 2 minutes highlights America's ignorance of anything outside of it's borders.
GOD I miss HBO
Commentary shite! 'Joe's style is to ruin your boxing' ..... er no .... he out boxes you. This was a very clean fight with minimal clinches and fucking about, Joe out boxes people albeit in an unorthodox style.
