- In this episode I repair an oil leak as well as replace the timing belt and water pump on an older Toyota Camry. These vehicles are some of the most reliable cars still on the road. You take care of them and they’ll take care of you.

I ve watched this great video mad times already. That music is dope and take me back to the 90s sound. I love it. Thank you bro for making this job simple.
Glad you enjoyed it
Straight forward right to the point 🎉👍🏿👍🏿🎉👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿👏🏿💯💯💯💯💯💯🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Amazing video brother I'll use for my Celica
Good job! That's how to make videos. Definitely appreciate it. Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
Keep up the good work ❤
Thanks
My 99 needs that done at my 90,000 mile interval
Thanks for the video really appreciate the detail, and time you took with this one. I'll be tackling this project tomorrow!
Glad it was helpful, you got this
How did it go?
@@ngk330 Overall it went well, took me about 12hrs all said and done but everything went back together and the seal was broken. Unfortunately still have a leak coming from somewhere... Next weekend is spoken for again.
@@Darth_Urderer I’ll have to give this a try soon. I have oil leaking from this area, plus I seem to have a power steering leak, seems like this are both common occurrences on this model.
@@ngk330 Good luck to you, keep me posted on the result my issue was the oil pump reinstallation, I must not have gotten it tight enough and now i need to replace the oil pump gear. Overall i found only 1 or 2 really tough spots that held me up, I bought the wrong balancer remover so i had some difficulty removing that, and there were just a few bolts i couldn't get a great angle on to remove. Just take your time, there are some really good videos out there on this like this one that helped me on different parts.
Thanks for the work! Greatly done! What music is this?
Super chill and motivates me to get mine done! 😊
Send it. I use music from Epidemic sound.
Lol other videos people need pullers for the harmonic balancer and you just wiggle it off by hand haha
That depends tho yo
@@josediazasmr6014 depends on?...
Was thinking the same thing 🤣
Good info.thanks
Glad it was helpful.
ready for another 200k miles!
That's right!
You say to make sure the oil pump gasket seats incorrectly, which is why you use some of that Honda stuff but then when you went to put the cover back on that gasket was not in the groove all the way around it
I just reviewed that part, if you look closely, the video actually cut and it was in the groove. You have to play around with it and just be aware that it could slip out, have the pump ready to go on so when it’s all lined up. Get the pump on relatively quickly to not give it any time to come out of the groove again. If it’s not in the groove, you’re gonna know right away when you start the vehicle, oils going to leak right away.
I saw it also. At the top.
I wish i had thought to test my oil pump seal/gasket with a drill driver first. Put mine all back together, except for the wheel, test fired and oil leaked like the Valdez. Put a 12mm on a drill and spun the pump enough to build pressure and yikes! Gasket was pinched so coated new gasket with FIPG. Let it get tacky to hold gasket in place well, then put cover on. So far, so good.
My 94 needs the oil pump seal done. Its only got 160k on it but i wanna replace the timing belt anyway just in case
Did you make note of the correct bolt configuration on that oil pump cover?
Yes, couple of them are different so they must be put back exactly where they came from.
Am using camry year 2000. My timing belt always snap every 30day clock cycle.....
I do changr it every month and its fustrating, i had changed the oil seals and yet still occurs, whats your suggestion or advice. Am based in nigeria
Great job! Which timing kit did you use?
We just pieced it together, I'd recommend Aisin parts though, I believe they make a kit.
What does a job like this typically cost. Minus Parts?

Where u located ?? How much u charge for doing this job normally ?? Good video
I work in Las Vegas. Being a tech, I actually am disconnected from the quoting and billing process so I’m actually not sure.
My 98m camry has 250k and still hums quiter than a new car and all the parts were made proudly in Japan. unlike today's cars with parts made shamelessly in china or mexico or corea or some other 3rd world cesspool.
Very informative. One question I have is "does the oil pump have time?"
Thanks for the comment. The oil pump does not require timing. Just make sure it spins freely and slap the belt on over it.
how do you remove the crank bolt without the crank also turning?
Use an impact gun with lots of torque, hold the pulley in your hand until the bolt breaks free. Don’t turn the engine counterclockwise, double check your timing marks.. then you should be good to go.!! Hope that helps out..👍
Do you need to do the oil change when you do the reseal?
No, it’s not necessary, only a small amount leaks during removal and install.
This also applies yo the 1999 as well?
Yup, same car.
Anyone know the correct bolt size on the harmonic balancer for a puller? Live in the rust belt and its struggling
Should be M8x1.25
@@SkillCollectors m8 seems to be too large
@@SkillCollectors m6x1.00 worked
I think my 98 camry jumped timing its got 274k i bough it Nd drove it from richmond va missfireing i put new sparkplugs in it i believe it may need timing belt please somebody tell me is it so.... ???
I have a 01 with 270 rn and I think mines jumped as well my belt isn’t lose I think it just jumped I wish you look on your adventure!
How long did the whole process take you? Fixing to work on my sons 98 camry.
It's about 3-4 hours.
@kristofflutchman Thank you sir!
👍
@@SkillCollectorsthats good to hear, im expecting it to take 6-8 hours for me then since ive never done it before
I just got my timing and water pump done at dealer for 700$. It’s been 6 months, and now I see oil leaking. What should I do now. I can’t even afford at this point!!
You follow this video and change the oil pump seal and pulley seal. 6 months the dealer won't do anything but stick their hand out for more money. Sorry!
Do it yourself.
Can I use rtv on oil pump?
No, the o-ring requires replacement. It's pressurized and will blow the RTV out.
That music is annoying....please
Noted
useful video unfortunately marred by the annoying music. Much rather hear your voice!!
why you FORCE that unbearable noise one of your four commenters called 'chill music' onto your viewers may be why you have 661 subscribers. wouldn't you rather have 6,000 or 60,000? just thought you might want to know some folks may not make it to end of video. I did not.
Thanks for the feedback 👍
I like the music in the background
