  • In this episode I repair an oil leak as well as replace the timing belt and water pump on an older Toyota Camry. These vehicles are some of the most reliable cars still on the road. You take care of them and they’ll take care of you.

      @@Darth_Urderer I’ll have to give this a try soon. I have oil leaking from this area, plus I seem to have a power steering leak, seems like this are both common occurrences on this model.

      @@ngk330 Good luck to you, keep me posted on the result my issue was the oil pump reinstallation, I must not have gotten it tight enough and now i need to replace the oil pump gear. Overall i found only 1 or 2 really tough spots that held me up, I bought the wrong balancer remover so i had some difficulty removing that, and there were just a few bolts i couldn't get a great angle on to remove. Just take your time, there are some really good videos out there on this like this one that helped me on different parts.

    You say to make sure the oil pump gasket seats incorrectly, which is why you use some of that Honda stuff but then when you went to put the cover back on that gasket was not in the groove all the way around it

    • @SkillCollectors
      @SkillCollectors  9 месяцев назад

      I just reviewed that part, if you look closely, the video actually cut and it was in the groove. You have to play around with it and just be aware that it could slip out, have the pump ready to go on so when it’s all lined up. Get the pump on relatively quickly to not give it any time to come out of the groove again. If it’s not in the groove, you’re gonna know right away when you start the vehicle, oils going to leak right away.

      I wish i had thought to test my oil pump seal/gasket with a drill driver first. Put mine all back together, except for the wheel, test fired and oil leaked like the Valdez. Put a 12mm on a drill and spun the pump enough to build pressure and yikes! Gasket was pinched so coated new gasket with FIPG. Let it get tacky to hold gasket in place well, then put cover on. So far, so good.

    • @SkillCollectors

    how do you remove the crank bolt without the crank also turning?

    • @MattStern-Craco11
      @MattStern-Craco11 6 месяцев назад +2

      Use an impact gun with lots of torque, hold the pulley in your hand until the bolt breaks free. Don’t turn the engine counterclockwise, double check your timing marks.. then you should be good to go.!! Hope that helps out..👍
