- Goan Poee / Poi / Bhakri is most popular bread in Goa. This is my second video of same recipe on our channel but I have explained in more details then previous for perfect bakery Style Goan Poees.
12 Poee Ingredients
3 Cups Wholemeal Wheat Flour With Bran / Wholemeal chapati Flour With Bran
1 Cup Plain Flour
2 & 1/2tsp Dry Yeast
1 &1/2 tsp Salt
2 tsp Sugar
Wheat Bran For Rolling
Water As Required
Bake At 220°C (Oven With Fan)
Bake For 6 to 8 minutes On the lower rack.
***We use 1 Standard US Cup of 240ml is equal to =
200gms Granulated Sugar
225 grms Caster Sugar
100grms Powder Sugar
250grms Butter
140grms Flour
** We Use**
1tbsp = 15ml
1/2tbs =7.5ml
1tsp = 5ml
1/2tsp = 2.5ml
1/4tsp =1.25ml

Chef, your recipe is well explained. Will surely try making the poee but I do not have an oven with a fan. Secondly, has the baking tray to be kept on the last rack (bottom)?

Very well explained ....but where you got wheat bran from?
Hi, Thank you for your appreciation and visiting our channel 😊 Bran is found in same wholemeal wheat flour. Take 1cup of same wholemeal wheat flour as I mentioned separately and seive it, and you will get bran👍.

Hey I tried your poiee recipe yesterday n followed all instructions to the tee but they did not rise like your did. What could the reason for that be? Did I roll them too thick? Should they be rolled thin?? What should the thickness be. Pl help!!! Otherwise they turned out really good
Thank you very much Sheila for visiting our channel and trying out 😊 There might be few reasons like Yeast fermentation, oven temperature, oven with fan distribute even temperature and it helps to rise poee, they should be delicately placed on the baking tray, once they are rolled must be covered and kept in a Warm place for further fermenting and you can see they rise while further 2nd time fermenting. Hope these reasons help you next time👍🏻
