    I have the M3 double stroke. It first belonged to my great uncle Frank. When he passed away in early 2000's the M3 got passed down to my dad. When my dad passed away (2 years ago) it got passed down to me.
    I have used it a few times and it works perfectly. There's a few scratches on the top and side of the body but all and all it's in beautiful condition.
    My M3 also came with 35mm, 50mm, 90mm and 135mm.

    The elephant in the room here is that beautiful though it is, nobody would ever dare actually use it for its intended purpose for fear of devaluing it.

    Hi, I have also a M3 from 1960. I also make photos with the same Summicron lense. I love the camera. I have the original Benser-case. This case was built for the Leica M3 from the Benser-Co. Greetings from Germany!

    The Leica M3 is a true classic that set the pattern for 35 rangefinder design for years. I have a Leica M3 single stroke camera and use a Voigtlander 50mm f1.5 Nokton lens & Leitz 50mm DR Summicron lens-and feel fortunate to have snagged one. Both are fine lenses for the M3, but the Voigtlander is a bit lighter and faster handling. There are probably some debates about which 50mm lens is sharp enough to use as a prime lens, and there are several lens makers that can fit a Leica M3 straight away or with an adapter. The higher prices for used Leica cameras and vintage Leica lenses tends to encourage people to become Leica purists, but the emphasis should be about getting a good picture while the actual lens is secondary. It should amaze and inform us when we see images that look great but were not taken with a Leica lens. Well done presentation of this Leica M3 camera.❤😊

    My M3 is the smoothest brightest and most joyful to use , I still see the " wax mark " in the lens mounting bayonet , and the camera is flawless. All frame lines are bright ...
    How things were built then , to LAST and give excellent service with care. The only cameras that match or exceed my MA , and M3 Leica are the ROLLEI WIDE 55mm F4 , and the humble 75mm F3.5 TLR 's they are quieter and a joy to cradle handle. Leica and ROLLIE ... the Best of the vintage German craftsmanship ... in my humble opinion.

    What's sad is that using this camera to take pictures would be considered damaging it. Praising a camera because it looks like it only had 2 rolls of film run through it in 60+ years is also pretty sad.

  • @kennethakennetha
    @kennethakennetha 6 месяцев назад

    I don't think it has used only two rolls of film lol. The frameline lever was never in the early versions of the leica m3. and the strap plugs are modern lol

      This is not an early version M3, but a single stroke version that comes with a frameline lever (and rounded strap plugs).

    You don't have a light meter on this camera, how do you do to take photographs with no under- or overexposure ? I bought recently, last september, in Freiburg/Germany, a double stroke from 1956 and I don't know how to do, pffff !

    • @peterzuehlke
      @peterzuehlke 8 месяцев назад

      there are light meters that fit the shoe on top of the camera from Leica may or may not work, and cds meters from Voightlander and Ttartisans

    Many of 500 Dual Range lenses suffer unrepairable haze on elements, caused by lubricants Leitz Leica used! Check carefully!The RF is old and Balsam glue extremely fragile. I use a 67 model and accept the risk,,
