Fantastic video, best Q3 vs Q3 43 focal length I have seen so far.

How good that we barely get half a second to compare the pictures… life is not a race … specially not in photography…

As my favorite lens is a 40 mm f1.7, I really prefer the Q 43

Todd’s great but shilling for Leica? Really? Are times that tough? PS - most of the work shown was not with a Leica.

When comparing, take the pictures in same position so viewers can decide. Only difference is focal point.

Good video explaining a difficult idea. In that 'the feel' is different between the lenses. 28mm to 43mm is a serious jump. There's a difference in the look of the image. Paul

And that articulating display on the Q3 and the 43 destroys the beautiful body of the Q2

Yeah… I’ll keep my Q2 with the 28 and darn near 1/4 million images.

Why not just shoot 8x10? Same size camera but now 8x10 film is much larger.

I recently got a Nikon Zf and I'm looking to aquire a second backup body, that's affordable and takes my Z mount lenses. Honestly, I’m leaning towards the Nikon Z5, but with the recent price drops the Z6ii is not much more and is appealing also. Nearly everyone I've spoken to who actually owns a Z6ii (or Z5), LOVES it. I love my Zf, but I want something that will act as a more ergonomic and compact backup, with similar menus. I shoot portraits and headshots and an occasional family session or engagement. No events, sports or wildlife. I don't need speed, and I don’t plan on doing video with this backup. I played with a Z5 and a Z6ii in the camera store recently and they both felt really nimble and great to use. In use, I couldn’t really tell much difference between the Z5 and Z6ii. Both really nice. Would you recommend the Z5 or Z6ii as a backup to my Zf? If I get the Z5 I can afford more glass, but maybe the better body is a wiser choice?

Great analysis, I found this really useful!

Both amazing cameras. Very difficult to pick, personally I shot with only 1 lens for 10 years ( a Nikon macro 50mm) and now have a mirrorless 35mm equivalent lens. I must admit the 35 is more enjoyable for me. So the 43 is in between a good focal length. Comparing the 28 to it the benefit is the opportunity to crop in cannot crop in to achieve a wide angle perspective, which is nice when you want to get close and still pack a lot of a scene into th3 frame. So I would the 28 is a more flexible focal length. The 43 IMO is technically better and if wider perspectives are still important then use your feet and move back. Very good video and I really enjoy your breakdown on the compression, angle of view and background differences.

The Panasonics 18/24/35/50/85mm are just as good, especially the 50mm, it’s brilliant.
