I love this channel and when I saw the title of this video I had to watch it. I own three Noctilux lenses. The two featured in this segment, as well as, the Noctilux 75 1.25. I love their feel and the look that they create. And while I have a greater hit rate using my SL2-S, my near misses on the either M11 or M11 M still have an artsy kind of look that gives them a uniqueness that I think would be near impossible to do with other glass. Thanks for another great video. Be Blessed, Doc Chaps
I bought myself the new f/1.2 soon after watching this and some other videos, Mark’s work is beautiful and helped give a visual reference of the soft classic beauty these are capable of.
I had the original Leitz Noctilux 1.2, it was designed for the asa 400 film of the day, its resolution was less than other fast 50s which were designed for the lower asa slide film. It’s beautiful signature articulated by tonal microcontrast, and it’s handling of bright light sources with out veiling flare wash outs. It could surprise one with occasional UFO artifact sightings. I too have the e58 Noctilux, since 1976, though the original 1.2 was my first love.
You said it well. The 0.95 Noctilux like any other Noctilux sets the standard. I find it funny when I see those Leica killer videos (don’t watch them anymore now because they are stupid) and the only thing that some super fast lenses from other companies do as good as the older Noctilux (nothing touches the 0.95) is sharpness. But that’s just one part of the equation and not even the most important. Rendering contrast and color is at least as important. The Noctilux 1.2 is less sharp at close focus (better at infinity at 1.2) but shines in all other categories. It gives you great results and is a joy to use, too. No Voigtländer , Zeiss, or other third party lens can touch it. I mean just look at images from these lenses. Even on Flickr it is easy to see the difference. At least for, people who have eyes to see.
I don’t think they are supposed to at their price points. (At least I hope not) Just a cheaper alternative for that style of shooting. Like the Fuji & Ricoh cameras. At least they are pushing the shutter & that’s a good thing in some cases IMHO. If everybody shot like Mark, then everyone would be just average. Me myself, I work really hard at making other photographers look good!😏
Having been a subscriber, I am not sure how I missed this one, six months ago, but, it just appeared up in my feed of recommended videos, and I am glad to have finally viewed this one. Watching it a second time, now. Excellent presentation! Thanks!
I don’t own a Leica & don’t even do model, portraits or street photography up to this point but looking at Marks work & if was able to produce something close to it, the f1 would be my choice since you asked. Enjoyed your vid. Thanks for putting it up.
On digital, 0.95 every day of the week. On film, 1.0 adds something magic to my portraits; it does not matter what optical defects are; they are part of the flavor. 1.2 is a great compromise for those who use both digital and film
Well, yes, I have 0.95. But I mostly shoot smlx 35 on the street, because focusing on 0.95 on the street is something) But I really like its picture, so I continue to improve my focusing skills). And 50/1.2 - I liked it on m9. On m11 I like 0.95 better (both in terms of the picture and its use on a sunny day)
Not a big RUclips gear boy talk fan but I will say , you do a great job mate. I use the gear since is it exciting . The only thing I personally would add and you might think of is.. the colours in combination with digital body’s. I shoot 99% 24 Lux and love the look wide open, needless to say always wide open. However the colours are better if the matching my images. In other words, if I work on a story and realise the colours are to far off between lenses it adds work to the job. A reason I like the 2008 release. The results straight out of the camera on an M10 are still mind blowing to me considering I used M8/9 from start to M10. You needed to become a post pro with CCD. However all the best

better late than never! thanks for watching!
The is a collective noun, when you see 5 or more Noctilux together, a Bankruptcy of Noctilux.

I have all 3 50mm Noctilux and like each one for its rendering of images.
Great pictures from Sir de Paola 🙂
Great video as always
Thanks for watching!
Two Noctiluxes... Noctilae? Noctiluxices? Noctiluxa? Noctiluxi?
i thought the same thing lol
Two noctilux
Like sheep. One sheep. Two sheep. The is also a collective noun, when you see 5 or more Noctilux together, a Bankruptcy of Noctilux.
Try the Voitgländer Nokton 50mm 1.0 Aspherical !

Appreciate the feedback, thanks for watching!
they are just OK lenses if you really know about lenses, highly overpriced and hyped!
