    Like I said on one of your videos some time ago - M10 with 50mm f/0.95 Noticlux is a perfect set up, the real one and only soul catcher. I know there is a lot of types of photograhy and in general Im totally wrong, but when it comes to portraits, people doing stuff, street photography etc there is nothing even close to that. Your are catching the soul, the exact x factor of being a human, the exact moment of life. Pure perfection, the essence of photography

    i’ve obsessed over this lens for years. the cost has always been a bit too irrational for me, so i decided to go with the Mitakon 50mm 0.95 and i must say, even tho i do plan to get the Noctilux down the road , this lens does wonders with my Leica. excellent review as always , good sir .

    As an owner of a 0.95 Noctilux, the reason why I would consider to buy the reissued 1.2, is purely sentimental.

    Thorsten, just to let you know, I am a huge fan of all your work, including videos such as this one. We are blessed to have you explain, in such detail from a purely aesthetic view, mostly, the ins and outs of Leica, including lenses and cameras. Thank you.

    Peter Karbe killed the rock n roll. It is all about perfection now. There is still a little Leica heritage visible but barely. The next step in this direction and you can’t distinguish them from Sony lenses.

    Thank you Thorsten for your explanation, here i was waiting for, someone who explains the difference between the new 1.2 and the other Noctilux lenses. I am on the waiting list for the 1.2 lens.This will be my first Noctilux. Maybe i will make the journey like you said from 1.2 to 1.0 to 0.95. But the weight of the 1.2 sounds very pleasing to me.

    Thorsten did you try the two budget remakes from Artisans and Mitakon in comparison and what is your verdict?

    • @MagicOfLight_ThorstenOvergaard
      @MagicOfLight_ThorstenOvergaard  2 года назад +1

      I tried the 50/1.1 7artisans which I like a lot www.overgaard.dk/7artisans-for-Leica-M-rangefinder-and-Sony-Canon-and-Fujifilm-50mm-f-1-1-Sonnar-review-and-user-report.html and then also the 75mm f/1.25 which I wasn't that impressed of. www.overgaard.dk/7artisans-for-Leica-M-rangefinder-and-Sony-Canon-and-Fujifilm-75mm-f-1-25-review-and-user-report.html
      I like lenses that has a special look, or lenses that performs excellent. The 50/1.1 has a special look, the 75/1.25 doesn't and doesn't perform well. The 50/0.95 lenses I haven't gotten around to check at all. Not sure there is a point, they seem to be great to try it out, and then when and if you want the most excellence, you would have to get the Leica f/0.95. Ther's lots of cheap and/or rare low light 50mm lenses, but none of then have the excellence as well, as the Leica f/0.95.

    Hi Thorsten, is there any chance that the lens hood for the noct can be made with a reduced diameter? meaning that the shade portion of the hood is of a smaller diameter than it really is, more closer to the lens barrel diameter. Maybe a reduction by 10mm in diameter is all it will take? I have an M edition 60 summilux lens and its lens hood is just perfect! I love it so much. Again thanks for making these vented shades, I love them and believe this is how all leica lens shades have to be. For that aesthetics clean look, they be screw on and not a clip on from the outside. Kind of ugly.

    • @MagicOfLight_ThorstenOvergaard
      @MagicOfLight_ThorstenOvergaard  2 года назад +1

      They probably could make it more elegant in the next edition, whenever that one is coming. The design of lenses tend to be more of an engineering thing than an actual design thing. They are generally well-functioning, well thought out, but not always the most elegant design.

    • @ronitsingh85
      @ronitsingh85 2 года назад

      @@MagicOfLight_ThorstenOvergaard yeah can’t wait for the next iteration of the noctilux 50mm, it will be expensive. Will see! When I meant the reduction in hood diameter, I meant the one that’s yours, screw on vented shade. I am sure the large vents help to see.

    The in-focus subjects seen through a Canon 85mm f/1.2 don't lack any sharpness compared to a Noctilux.

    • @MagicOfLight_ThorstenOvergaard
      @MagicOfLight_ThorstenOvergaard  3 года назад +1

      I agree completely. It's a great lens. Several I've met seem to go for the f/1.4 because they "don't get" the beauty of that narrow focus. They're afraid that if both eyes are not in complete focus, they didn't succeed (the think there is something wrong with the lens :-)

    What about the viewfinder with a Noctilux ? Does it hide a big part of the frame ?

    • @MagicOfLight_ThorstenOvergaard
      @MagicOfLight_ThorstenOvergaard  2 года назад

      It hides some of the frame, but you get used to it. A bit like checking rear view mirrors in the car: You move around so as to get an idea what is in the else hidden corners.

    • @MagicOfLight_ThorstenOvergaard
      @MagicOfLight_ThorstenOvergaard  3 года назад +2

      The 50mm APO is the best (in the sense of perfection), the Noctilux lenses ... quite different story.

    • @mariowanagat1412
      @mariowanagat1412 3 года назад +3

      Arguably! In the 50mm boring but most versatile FL , I think it depends what you wanna do.
      I love the cron pre apo, personally due to easy handling, weight and quality.
      If you need more separation I.g on wedding couples the Lux is the best asph or pre. The Nocti is there when you know you want a lot of light closeup or what I prefer further away, the bokeh is sweet already with the lux. The lenses are built for certain purposes and I reckon if you know what yours is, you’ll know what to get.
      There’s so much more to the lens lineup than bokeh.
      The smaller ones balance so much better and allow for way longer handholding.
      I prefer always wide angle and like the lux versions but it changes the experience while taking photos, the crons have perfect weight balance and are such a joy. So I only use the lux when for example photograph indoors or concerts. Outside I prefer hyper focal, which is the point of Rang Finder for me in the first place. I can forget everything but the situation I am gonna frame. All the best gents.

  • @barrycohen311

    It is an absolute sin you do not put a good, clear, UV-filter on the front for extra protection. If that causes reflections or any other issues, I would put a lens cap on and only take it off when shooting. Even use one of those silly 'lens cap string attachment things.' You know the ones that stick in place. Even though they are annoying as hell. Having the lens cap swinging around is very distracting to me.
