In the bowline know, the end of the rope should be inside the loop, not outside. Also, the knot at 4:57 is not really a reef knot, because the ends are on opposite sides of the knot.

Siberian hitch is my favourite knot. It's super easy to tie and can be done blindfolded. It's strong and tightens itself when pulled but no matter how tight you pull it the knot will always be quick release with an easy tug on the dynamic end. I think it's used in some areas for tying horses off. It can be done with thick gloves on and requires almost no finger dexterity as the knot is wound around your fingers.

Sheet bend for different sized ropes. Reef bend for same sized rope.

Actually, I like the idea of tieing an o-ring between the bolt snap and the knot. Certainly not for fixing a lamp, but for the hoses. When they get hooked on something inside a wreck, you rather want to break the o-ring and set you free instead of the bolt snap holding you tight and getting you stuck. Unlike a knife or lamp, you won't lose a hose anyway.

Good point, there are no wrong answers, I just prefer it this way.

Safe Diving - at 5:00 that's not a reef knot, the ends are diagonal to each other, that's a thief knot and it's unstable. A reef knot, the ends are parallel, it's stronger, but you are right a sheet bend is the best of the three. I'm surprised that you didn't demonstrate that the Figure of Eight can join two lines together, it's even more secure than the sheet bend, but much harder to untie. Thanks for mentioning that rope is inherently dangerous underwater, that will be the most important thing I get from this video. For attaching your bolt clasp a Anchor Bend is simpler. I would have edited out all the wrong ways to do a cleat hitch. People can create their own ways to do it wrong, no need to give them any ideas.

I tried the "double figure of eight" knot.. had to bust out my pocket knife.. very strong knot indeed! 😆

tautline hitch is just another loop to the double half hitch. I've had pretty good luck with it for creating adjustable tie-offs.

I’ve come to prefer the truckers hitch for that.

What knot to use to secure a BCD (with doubles) to a line in choppy waters so it can be pulled safely on board? Or maybe use a double ender ;)

One thing I don't actually use a boltsnap for...
I actually use a tough bungee with an adjustable hook (I'll see if I can find a link) for lashing twins on a boat.
If you're using static rope then probably a clove hitch. Just make sure you tie it tight, the rocking action can pull it over time of it has enough slack. That's why I got a thick bungee.

19 inches..... 4mm.... Couldn't you just keep in one system? Maybe Japanese SUN for instance. Joking aside clear descriptions, & thanks as always.

cleat hitch has one less turn than you did.
