Twin 12s are bloody heavy - I just got mine back from servicing and after carrying them, I picked up my 15L cylinder and almost threw it up in the air! Great for deep dives, but I think the 'benefit' of not 'faffing' between dives is vastly outweighed by the con of all that weight. Underwater, of course, you barely notice them!

I dive twins for the reserve gas and redundancy. Better to carry gas you don't need than to need gas you don't carry.

I’m so glad I skipped diving twins and went right to breathers that shit looks so damn heavy my breather only weighs 70lbs with 20lbs lead mount to it for my dry suit lol in wetsuit I only need 10lbs lead

interesting topic, i'm 177cm 80kg have been diving with 2 piece 7mm suit hood, gloves and boots, so lots of float! 80 al tank and carrying 2x 11lbs in bcd pockets 2x 2lbs in trim pocket and 4 x3lbs on the belt, 38 lbs all up and i know if i drop the two 2lbs i cant get submerged. About to make a big change with now one piece 7mm suit and steel tank. As a starting point how much weight should i drop from my belt? then ill do the float test with 50bar in tank after a dive. Thanks

This is great information. Believe it or not we've been diving (all recreational) for 30 years. I've never really looked into backplate systems before but am looking to change up my BCD for a more travel friendly lightweight option and this is looking like the ticket for me. Plus I am now semi retired, so we're diving more and am doing much more underwater photography so again this looks like a much cleaner solution. Thank you for all the info. Great stuff. 🙂

19"45 the half round on the SI tech "pizza cutter" are or the inside of your dry suit to engage the round pucks of your drysuit inflator or exhaust valve. Its an essential tool for tightening and removing SitTech valves.

16:36 if you have an under garnet with a thumb loop elastic just pull that thought for gas equalization between the dry glove and drysuit.

12:30 if your shore diving on really cold says get your self a large IGLOO or GOTT blow molded water cooler with snap top lid. Before leaving for the day fill it with hot bathtub water. While on site before the dive you can soak your hood and any wet gloves in the hot water. Replace the lid to keep the water insulated and between dives warm up your gear and fingers. Works a charm! Where do you of would you attach the canister for your primary light to the BP&W?

Lumen doesn't measure how bright the light is, but how much light it produces. A 500 lumen torch with an 8° beam angle is much brighter than a 500 lumen torch with a 110° beam angle. The same amount of light is distributed over a much wider area wit a 110° beam angle. The measure for brightness is Candela, but very few manufacturers list that value. Lux is a measure of how much light hits an object, so it depends on the object what the Lux value is. Most lights have a hot spot. This is fantastic for signalling, but it's really bad for videos. For videos you want an evenly spread light so everything in the frame is lit equally. Conversely, a video light is terrible for signalling. If you're diving in murky water, you want a tight beam to punch through. A wide beam will just create a wall of light and prevent you from seeing anything.

For Apeks regulators you will need the following tools: For removing port plugs: 5mm hexagonal Allen wrench (3/16" will have quite a bit of play and can damage the port plug, 7/32" will not fit) For removing HP and LPI connectors: 14mm wrench (9/16" can be used but will have a little play) For removing second stage non-swivel connectors: 9/16" wrench (15mm will have quite a bit of play and can damage the connector, 14mm will not fit) For removing second stage swivel connectors: 11/16" wrench (18mm will have quite a bit of play and can damage the connector, 17mm will not fit)

#askMark I really enjoy watching your videos and I recently acquired my first drysuit, a DUI Yukon II. I was limited by budget so it was an off the rack drysuit with one thigh pocket. In the future when budget allows I’d love to get a custom built drysuit but for now I’d like to figure out how to add another thigh pocket to my drysuit. I have done a lot of research and it seems that an XS Scuba glue on thigh pocket is my best option. It comes with glue but I was wondering if you have had any experience with this pocket or others that glue on? The last thing I want is all my expensive contents of the pocket falling out during a dive because of failed adhesive or worse yet, a ruined drysuit. I appreciate any insight you can give and thank you for putting out great videos!
