Firstly, thanks for the positive review. A bit of explanation. The original song is still painfully long but it’s only 17 minutes. There is a drum “feature” in the recorded version because ... why the hell not? There’s 2 drummers. Anyway, this song is a one off that includes current and past members of the band, as of the filming. It’s also from a special concert we did that included everybody. The extended drum thing was mostly improvised as you suspected. We compared the intro and how to get back into the song. The rest was us having a laugh for the most part. The big vocal ending was added for this show purely based on having all three of the bands singers in one place, plus me adding the fourth part. By the time we finished, a 17 minute song was now ... longer. It’s actually still going. So yeah, glad you enjoyed it. Actually when your camera briefly cut I was hoping to find you snoring when it came back on. That would’ve been brilliant. Cheers!
JImmy...LOVE your exuberant style of drumming, bro! Not to mention excellent voice. The drum-off with Nick is hysterical! I actually just 'found' this 'final' Neal track the other day from the 20 Years set. It's fantastic, and I'll have it on repeat for quite a long while (being I have all the studio albums/cds). Just wondering tho...any chance of returning to The Beard? Not sure why you left, but I see they are kind of in limbo these days (as Nick guested on Noise Floor). Hate to see them have to retire from the biz. Cheers & rock on! T
Whoah a gig with Nick and Neal back? How'd I miss this? Sweet! "Where did that vocalist come from?" From behind the left drum kit. Spock's Beard is noteworthy for having a lot of singers over their career, such that they would do a lot of multi-part vocal harmonies, in songs like "Thoughts," "Gibberish," and "Long Time Suffering." Which meant that when Neal, the lead singer, left after their Snow album, they had plenty of guys to choose from as new lead singer, and it ended up falling to Nick, the drummer.
Ted Leonard has been the lead singer for their last three albums. He also plays a bit og guitar & keys (as Nick did). He is also in another prog band called 'Enchant'. T
Neal Morse!!! Anything with Neal Morse!!! Spock’s Beard, Neal Morse Band, Transatlantic, Flying Colors, solo albums, etc.

As much as I love Nick’s drumming, I think you won.
