Thanks for this. For context, Henry Cow were early pioneers of avant-garde rock and founders of the progressive movement (in both an artistic and political sense) "Rock in Opposition". Their music was intended to challenge the listener on every level. 40+ years later, I believe it still does.

@Marty Gabriel I think ive heard every single thing Henry cow has ever recorded. Been listening to them for like 20 yrs. They are pretty avant garde even by today's standards. Especially by today's standards.
@Marty Gabriel they may not have considered themselves as avant garde, but I do and like, lots of people do too . Great band though regardeless!

Poor guy, I was waiting for the overdriven organ solo to see your reaction. Can't say I am dissapointed, it was priceless. It was probably the same for every first-time listener, maybe even for the band. Trust me tho, after the 3rd or 4th listen, it starts to make sense and maybe you'll actually enjoy it.
Anyone who has ever seen Henry Cow live, even without actually hearing it, would say that Chris Cutler rides a drumkit like no one else!
Never saw HC but saw him with Pere Ubu in the late 80s..the guy is amazing

If you enjoyed the guitar sounds then listen to Fred Friths guitar solo albums. There is a sense that his work & style is informed by Cages prepared piano pieces/sounds.
They reckon their name wasn't based on the composer Henry Cowell.

The beginning of this song sounded like the band Chicago from the seventies. Another part sounds like a scarry movie. Another part sounds like it came from the movie ET. @@ProgPiglet It is so nice to hear from you. I have missed you. I am so excited for you for your backpacking trip. I am a little envious...... How did uni go for you? I know you were busy before I went into the hospital. All my fellow Nightwish community members and a lot of the reactors sent messages to me and raised some money to help me with medical bills. I was so humbled by all of their kindness. I will be speaking to everyone in a video soon. I did not know how to reach everyone.
By the way Chicago is a band from the seventies that played a variety of instruments. Now you owe me a Nightwish song! Hahahahaha I will be around. Love you..........
