It is so easy to talk always about Yosemite and its so easy to have access to Yosemite. You can park in front of the wall, you can shopping gear and food in front of the wall and a lot of people going there. But there are more beautiful big walls on planet earth! And there are no routes yet and it needs a lot of effort to explore. A lot of probs to you guys for doing that! It looks amazing!
I have only been to Yosemite once but I read every book I could find about it before I went, and although I loved it there I couldn't help feeling that the things I had read about were just history now. In Cochamó I felt like I found that same spirit of adventure and possibility that the early days of Yosemite had and it was a fully spiritual experience to open a route there. The rock is steeper and more compact, the walk ins are way harder, there is no cell reception and noone can watch you while you are on the wall so it is not for the faint hearted. You have to be tough in every way to survive there but when you get back to camp the people are wonderful and supportive and you are soon ready to head out to the grey high seas again. That valley will always hold a special place in my heart ❤️
Nice documentary- who bolted all these pitches?? That is a lot of work and I didn’t see anyone struggling with drills and bags of bolts. Hats off to the crew that placed all of those bolts.
Incredible Film! Congrats to the whole team and specially to Jaron for putting this amazing story together! It's been a huge pleasure to be up there with you! What an adventure!
Im on my desk, having dinner while working on my Ph.D manuscript in physics (kinda of climbing a big wall to), feeling a knot in my throat while I see this guys having so much fun. Men, I wish I could be lost in the mountain right know, such and inspiring experience what you had. Never stop this passion :)
this was wonderful and I'm a huge fan of you guys, but I think you should have acknowledged and told a bit of the story of the people who placed all those bolts there.

yeah! thought the same, some chilean music too - great video, greetings from argentina
This place is unreal. I was there hiking for a week with friends back in 2016. We met so many climbers and was the trip that got me into it. Would love to go back and climb some of them. Absolutely beautiful place
We need to see more of this style of climbing well done fab if companies sponsor this different climbing you will get my support we have to get away from same same
Thank you! Filming was an endeavour in itself for sure. I spent 2 weeks w the team on the wall climbing and shooting, ascending the same ropes they used to work in the route :)
it would be awesome if you guys would try another giant wall further south in a place called "San ignacio de Huinay" massive rock walls there, theres only been a few visit to that place by rock climbers.
Me. I bought 125 bolts to use on the first ascent (including 2 bolt anchors at every station). That still leaves a lot of space, it's a big old route. The Rab team will have bought a few more to make the new pitch and I said I was very happy if they wanted to add a couple wherever it was needed to make the free climb possible. All the bolts I bought were stainless expansion bolts imported by Daniel and Silvina at Refugio Cochamó. There is a fairly widely held belief there that you can use pegs if you need to on first ascent, but you never leave them in situ and should consider placing a bolt for the next ascent.
No it's an incredible and impressive super close attempt at a first free ascent which is an equally valid thing (if not more so by some measures). I did the first ascent and I love what these guys did. They don't claim it as a first ascent so if that's what you thought you need to watch it more carefully.
Free climbing means you aren't aid climbing. Aid climbing allows you to use means other than your hands and feet. This could be pulling on cams, nuts, using hooks and ladders attached to them to get through hard sections. Alot of routes are climbed mostly free and you have to aid a few sections unless you're really good. Free soloing is no rope or aid. Soloing means by yourself but you can aid sections, alot of people have soloed el cap only one has free soloed.
Wtf is this? Commercial video clip with 3sec snapshots ? Stroboscope makes U feel better , i think . Don't like such things , this not a document at all.

Вітаю з таким гарним маршрутом!
Wow. I normally don’t sweat anymore being a climber myself, but that knee tuck at the ten minute mark? Stomach twisted.
Lovely video
What is the name of the song playing at 18:54?

Did u ever find out what the song was?
We need to see more of this style of climbing well done fab if companies sponsor this different climbing you will get my support we have to get away from same same
love all youre guys videos! so fun and entertaining
Pardon my ignorance, who set all those anchor points that you clip into as you climb up?
The first ascent team placed some bolts, we added more in certain key spots for free climbing :)
Somos el mejor país de Chile.. 😎
Que lugar increíble!
There really is nothing like the Los Lagos region of Chile.
Incredible, but how was this filmed 😮??? Really amazing work
Thank you! Filming was an endeavour in itself for sure. I spent 2 weeks w the team on the wall climbing and shooting, ascending the same ropes they used to work in the route :)

Woop woop 100k views 🎉😁

Something more similar to actual climbing starts at 11:08
Guiz calm down on the production value making such dang good films
who pays for the bolts??
Me. I bought 125 bolts to use on the first ascent (including 2 bolt anchors at every station). That still leaves a lot of space, it's a big old route. Danford looks like Sundance Kid here
950m… Just a tad bit of exposure.
hahah it translated "We're psyched" when the guy says "We are lost" in spanish
“Prendidos” not “perdidos” haha
@@jaronpham5283 nooo man, is "Perdidos". He say this because its raining and everything is wet so they cant go on. 7:40
Horses are more likely to seriously injure a person than any one particular big wall.
would love to watch but oi the music is making me cooky
How would we feel if they squeeze our nose with their fingers? 😂
Not a first ascent

how can you call being top roped on a bolted route be called free climbing
Why does this remind me of a cult!
I thought free climb means no rope.
that is free soloing
@@don4015
In that case, why is this called "free"? How is it different from not free?
Free climbing means you aren't aid climbing. Aid climbing allows you to use means other than your hands and feet. This could be pulling on cams, nuts, using hooks and ladders attached to them to get through hard sections. Alot of routes are climbed mostly free and you have to aid a few sections unless you're really good. Free soloing is no rope or aid. Rock climbers must think what they’re doing is really important but its just not🤣
