Curious, once you get a holes or two in the cat is it easier to pull out, or just a serious of holes to break it up? How did you clean out the pipe after you got the cat out?
@@rolandjosef7961 it is definitely louder the stereo can still be heard pretty well doesn't really affect it most of the sound is behind the motorcycle
Dude! You never explained how you did it? LMAO - "I bought this auger bit from HD! It was easy". How did you do it? Steps? Would appreciate an actual video explaining this. Thanks!
It's pretty straight forward just need to remove the slip ons and once you do that you can see the catalytic converter inside the header pipe then you just use your bit to crunch it and drill it out in pieces and you can clear the whole pipe once it's completely round clean it up as best as you can put your slip-ons back on and now you have no cat
Sounds good! Are they stock handlebars? I was checking out your phone mount.. there's no room. If so can you tell me which Ram mount and do you have a better picture please
Thanks 👍Yea stock handlebars but I'm changing them soon it's just a ram mount with handlebar clamp I think I got it on Amazon I got it when I first bought the bike in early 2020
Appreciate the vid, just starting looking into this to help with the heat. Im rocking a stage 1 setup so curious to see if I get any additional gains. I assume you left the sensors in while you drilled out the cat? No concern with possibly hitting them? For the auger, just like the $25 bit from Home Depot? Much appreciated.
Thanks yea it helped big time with the heat the cat used to get so hot it yellowed the chrome on th slip on pipe. no there's no sensors to damage and yes just a simple long drill bit to break all the cat material then just pull the chunks out with long needle nose plyers . the bike runs way happier without the cat plugging up the exhaust
You don't remove the cat only the rear exhaust slip on after you do that you can see the inside the cat then just proceed to drill into it and it falls apart easily and you can remove the chunks till its nice and clear
@@Xworks22 I ride a 2021 RGS and im assuming the cat c is in the slip on on the right side of the bike as well. Thanks for this tip I haven't seen any channels revealing this. Cheers!
It’s been a hot minute since you’ve done this DIY cat removal. Any issues with your bike as a result at all? Thanks’ BillyD 21’ RG Limited 114 Boca Raton.
The correct way to delete a cat off a Harley is to buy a 2 into 1 exhaust with no catalyst. In addition to that, buy a tuner. It's expensive, but it's the right way to do it. Your ECU will adjust for about 10% of change in the air to fuel ratio but since you took out the catalyst; it's off and will need to be adjusted.
@@Scoobydue420 Agreed! I did a 2020 RG and a 2023 SG. Both Stage 1's. Both needed proper tunes, especially the one we did V&H big radius exhaust. It wouldn't even idle for more than 10 seconds without shutting down the entire ecm. Later model M8's behave differently than older Harleys and you have to know what you're doing. Removing cats might benefit from less heat but you might actually lose power. They also run super lean without a tune.
No u don’t need to tune it all it achieved was getting rid of the heat that radiates from the cat It had no effect on the way the bike performs and it will change the sound very little it’s been dyno tested and proven
It's a 2 cylinder motorcycle that gets ridden on weekends not a car, truck, plane pollute I think we'll survive Harley only started this whole emissions bs cause the people we have in office. Thank you for this video! I would have liked to see more of the process but after watching this I will definitely try it myself on my 2017.
Super easy! I used a long 1" spade bit and a shop vac while still on the bike. The material is really pretty soft.
Sounds awesome not too loud but loud enough. Can you send me the link showing me how to remove the cat? Thx
Well show it, did you video it?
Very well done sir. 1st. Upgrade get rid of cat. 400 degree heater under running boards..

Did you retune it
What about the O2 sensors how does this effect the ecu?

@@rolandjosef7961 it is definitely louder the stereo can still be heard pretty well doesn't really affect it most of the sound is behind the motorcycle

No it will not do that the o2 sensor is before the cat
Is it a lot cooler on the leg?
Yeah definitely cooler
great thanks@@Xworks22
Any popping on deaccelaration?
No not at all
Isnt the cat in the header pipes on the stock exhaust?
Yea but it's near the the slip on connection once you take your slip-ons off just shine a flashlight right in there and you'll see it

I dont know about this one. So you just drilled a big hole thru the 2" catalytic material? Probably made a huge mess inside there.
Simply drilled out all the material it falls apart in pieces until it's clear ...no hole or mess or welded patched up exhaust
Ah ok, so you did clear out all the material. Thanks.
Did you notice any loss of back pressure or loss of horsepower or torque?
No loss if anything it feels more of a gain
Did have to tune it? I have a stage 1 on my 2020 Street Glide.
No not necessary runs like it should if anything it runs a little better than stock but some people say you should tune it

So now thats its been awhile, did you have to tune it ? Or just pull the cat ?
Never did a tune it's runs great people say you should but it's not necessary
Did you just drill the Cat completely out and pull what's left out? Or just drill it out good?
This is my question! LOL This is a horrible video explaining what to do! haha
Those big pipes seem to have a hollow sound
No cat and no baffles
Only way to go,… did it myself 👍🏻
i got a 2019 midnight blue.
What ram mount is that. Do you have it mounted to your bars?
Yes it's ram handlebar mount
Did you have to buy a tuner for it?
No if it's just exhaust but if you do the air filter you should get it tuned it will still run ok and safe to ride but if you want the most out of it

Mine is stock housing but I bought a k&n filter. I'm cheap and don't want to spend money for a tuner
