- An explanation on how I removed the catalytic converter on a Harley Davidson Street Glide. Known as a Decat using dremel tool. Careful removing the two sensors. Any questions, contact me. I experienced no negative effects after about a year of doing this project. Please hit the like button.

yes you do need a fuel mapping tune. they run lean from the factory and by removing the cat without tuning makes it run leaner and that's why your losing low end and have to give more gas to take off
Yes I think you're right in one day I'm going to buy a few management system like the power vision
Im new to motorcycle and so on but if its fuel injected doesnt it change automaticly on how much there needs to be?
No remapping required when dealing with exhaust only. Tuning is affected by increased air intake which requires more fuel.

If you decide to go this route I would highly recommend marking your parts prior to cutting them apart so when you weld them back together everything lines back as it should.
Good advice, which is what I did. I used a removable marker.
i agree that you will notice right away a loss of startup power. but when you get used to it, you will automatically compensate for gas and clutch control.
Agree. I compensate with the throttle and clutch. Sounds better, smoother and cooler.
Kidding me?? Cats on a friggin BIKE? Good video, love your channel.
Sorry dude, the other people that say you need to tune your bike now are correct. If you need to add more throttle at take off, then you've changed the design of the fuel management already by removing the cat from the header pipes, or pipe. A lot of research and development goes into the design of the exhaust system. So, now you might as well go ahead and get the cash to get it tuned on a dyno with an air cleaner and the right header pipes and the muffler you want. The whole reason of getting it tuned after changing the exhaust system and larger air cleaner is the changes you've made to make more power from moving more air and fuel through the intake and exhaust. After having it tuned correctly, the power change is substantial. You need to have it done, and you will see. It's not a matter of if you have the money now, the tune needs to be done or you will be causing damage to engine. You removing the cat is a good idea and saved you some money on header pipes, but now you must finish the job. Goid try though. Finish it, and you will be much happier.
After riding the bike for a while I agree with you
Fuel mapping is affected by air intake, not exhaust. A bigger breather/filter will increase air intake thus increasing the amount of fuel needed which gives the engine more throttle response. The exhaust has nothing to do with mapping. It's when you change both that you should remap.
I will be removing the cat in my bike using your method.I will be using a small angle grinder as per Barry, and a 4 1/2 Walter zip cut blade. Thanks Overtaxed.
Did you remove it? How did it go for you?
Great video
Thanks!
Slips ons don’t require a tune
But a header, cat, or any thing else requires a TUNE
Your in the collector and exhaust stream
A slip on or muffler isn’t affecting the tune but a cat or header/ full exhaust is
You need to tune this bike and just because some dumb shit says it runs fine, that’s why you have dead spots you going into open or close loops
Angle grinder with the thin blade would probably work better.
Perhaps it would have worked better. 2 reasons I used a Dremel... 1) on the Harley forums, there were questions if the dremel would cut through the pipe. 2) it was the only cutting tool I had and did not want to purchase a grinder solely for this project.
You can use an angle grinder for most or all of the cutting bc you can get a very thin blade to cut the metal and it will go much faster and probably use one blade. I know that you can get a 1/16 inch blade and maybe thinner for the angle grinders.
Sorry I want to add to my last post. If using an angle grinder then you draw on the header where you want to cut. Where you have corners, drill holes at the corners so as you cut with the grinder and you get close to the corners, the holes are there and the metal is removed already. So you're really cutting from one drilled hole to another. Ask your welder how big you can drill the holes at the corners though, if you plan on using the cut out piece to weld back in and close it back up.
Why not just bore it out from the open pipe?
I did not know how at the time.
interesting, as per other commenters i think you willl need fuel mgmt. syst to realize full benefits. might i suggest fp3 system. you will be suprised at improvement. 2015 roadglide w/fp3----keep shiney side up.
Why is there a Cadillac in your pipe
Need a tune when removing cat
No. A tune is needed when increasing air intake.
What about the sensors ? Did you leave them out? Did you put them back in and plug them in?
Sensors were reinstalled. No running problems. Bike ran cooler and sound was better.
Sounded like you said Cadillac converter...
No! It's Cadillac Perverter
It makes more sense to just buy aftermarket headers (if you don't live in CA).
thanks for watching
I have yet to have anyone answer my question
What is the benefit of removing the cats?
Lots of videos on removing cats but o videos of the benefits of removing cats
Fuel efficiency, cooler engine and nicer sound.

Ok thanks for info
If you're going to make a video on this show us, do it, don't just talk about it. That doesn't help anybody we want to see it, that's the whole point of RUclips! If I wanted someone to just give me a colorful description I could read a book.
My sincere apologies.
We should tax him some more...
Im new to motorcycle and so on but if its fuel injected doesnt it change automaticly on how much there needs to be?
You need to drill holes in back of ac
Thanks
Is your bike the high out put 103?
Yes, 103
2 bolts up there
Great awesome
Just wondering how is the bike running know
Bike running very well. I also notice a slightly louder sound.
@@AnotherOverTaxedTaxPayer Did you ever go ahead with your plans to install a fuel management system?
@@125saito yes. Bike running great.
are you in cali and would do it for me if i paid you>>>
I am in Tucson. But trust, me it is easy. It does take a while to cut through and it will take quite a few blades. With my Dremel tool I think I went through approximately 8 - 12 blades. the Dremel tool will need time to cool down every now and then. Remember to pull out those two sensors but remember which sensor goes back into which hole. Before you do the project coordinator is a decent welder to weld back in the Square window you will cut out
Hey daddy4u714, diy man. No matter if you screw it up some. Any good welder can fix up what you screw up. I was planning on doing it myself, but I think I'm gonna keep the stock pipes how they are and replace the header pipes and exhaust. Is it more money, of course, but what if you want stock pipes for your bike again? Think of the cost of that from Harley. Whooooeeeee, ouch.
25,000 Take offs for sale cheap!
You do need a fuel tuner you don’t have a clue 🤔
After riding the bike for a while I agree with you
Im new to motorcycle and so on but if its fuel injected doesnt it change automaticly on how much there needs to be?
You don't necessarily need the fuel management system just by taking the cat out for this bike. Remember each bike is different but for this bike it does not require a fuel management system. Notice I use the word require, it does change the bike a little bit and in my opinion it could use a management system but that is just my opinion. I do catted this bike early 2016 and to this date there is no fuel management system in it and the bike runs fine.
Another OverTaxed TaxPayer Ahh Nice But general in engines i know on varv engines u need to change stuff etc But on fuel injected like this there shouldnt be needed for most bikes if not modified too much??
@@AnotherOverTaxedTaxPayer ---Check to see if the porcelain and the electrode on the spark plugs are white if so you need to get your engine tuned.
SMH
Nothing says - 'trailer trash' - like a loud exhaust.
Anyone watching this, please do not do this to your bike. What is wrong with you man, someone should take that shrine away from you.
It worked for me.....
Gutting the cat makes power it’s a power man’s full exhaust coupled with slip ons
