The verse about “Let Us In” and “Edgar Allen Poe” is a reference to his poem “The Raven” where the Raven continues to knock on Poe’s door and he opens it to no one there. Eventually the Raven gets in and drives him insane until he is “Bedridden” just like in Em’s Verse.

The line about Edgar Allen Poe and "should have been dead a long time ago" is a double. There's a short story written by Poe where a man is hypnotised right before he dies. The hypnosis leaves the man suspended in between life and death. It prevents him from decomposing and he's left like that for years. But, the rhyming in itself. Without the references and the content. Is amazing in itself. But, he also gives you substance word play and flow switches that are out of this world. Ems musics replay value isn't his sound. Its how he has a bunch of different meanings to his words. It makes it like a game. Tbh I don't care for his voice. It doesn't have a great sound to it IMO. But, the way he uses it is astonishing. I really don't understand what critiques are listening to? Are they just hearing the way it sounds? Or the fucked up shit he says? Either way idgaf what they say. His talents undeniable. IMO eminem has only gotten better over the years. With his technical ability. Hes perfected the art of rap. I could only wish I was even a tenth as good as what em is as a rapper.
Nope. Thats just an old narrative going around till this day. It was semitrue back in the day, but no one back then had bars like that, even battle rappers. Lloyd Banks was the one mainstream artist who was coming up with bars, but thats about it. Eminem had a few bars on 3rd solo album and on D12 2nd album. He got in this bar heavy bag around MMLP 2/Shady XV/Southpaw era. Most of the Bad Meets Evil/Relapse was rapity rap of the top notch quality that holds up to this day I have to say. BTW, the best Eminem track of all time that relatively obscure is BME All I Think About. Listen to it for real.
I noticed something while watching, whenever the Eminem music (The Venom) enters a person, the Eminem that is walkin around in the dark room with the single light is actually the venom within them that got transferred, that's why at the last we can see that the venom form looks up and almost asks it's host "When they get bit with the?" then the host completes his sentence by saying "Venom" this may symbolise that the Venom has found its perfect host and that the stuff Eminem cooks up in his mind can only be contained and controlled by him. If you agree with me, drop a like so Knox can see.
LMAO I just caught this: "Let us in" ref to The Raven by EAP when he hears someone knocking on his door: "While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping, As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door." Let us in.... LMAO that was gold
Two other things that were amazing. 1) black and white imagery. He kept bringing these two colors into the song. 2) that humming on the hook is really strange for em, but I think he's actually demonstrating an acceptable use for the technique of Mumble rap by using it to bend words into rhyming. A bit of a flex.
Almost 3 years to this track and album, have watched dozens of reactions and breakdown and multiple TIMES. At that time NLS shaq didn't even have 50k followers Respect #NLS but By far the best breakdown. Give this man a MEDAL 🙌🙌 KNOX THE MAN!!!
how does someone have this level of wordplay like eminem? it amazes me. and honestly i never caught some of the stuff in this song thank you knox for breaking down. and chaos theory is fire!!!
Em is so talented at bending words and creating percussion with his voice we are all used to it. What he does is insanely difficult. And to be able to do it, have it make sense, and be cool? Impossible for anyone else.
In my opinion this is one of Em's most slept on tracks, as far as pen game goes because most people take it as just a cool sounding Movie tie-in song not realizing the whole song is actually a triple . Great breakdown bro!
I honestly feel like this is one of those songs where the actual bars go under-looked because the song is a Hit/Single and sounds more of like a radio play type of song when just looked at from the outside but when broken down like this and looked at on the inside that is where the song really shines. To me, these are the most difficult songs to create, (even though I'm a nobody so I probably have zero idea what I'm talking about) the songs that everybody can enjoy; The people who may not be huge fans of hip hop, to the casual radio listeners, to the hip hop heads and so on. I guess what I'm trying to say is that I imagine it takes real talent and a real eye and ear to be able to make a hit single that also has incredible substance.
I think this song is about Shady letting everyone know he hasn't gone anywhere. Shady never left us, he was under the music, moving from fan to fan and always ready to take the spotlight from Em.
People like Knox help people appreciate the artist and the art for those that can’t hear it on the first listen….and hey, if you haven’t missed an Em bar you’re either Knox or never listened to Em.
And the kids like me that grew up with Eminem are now old enough to be parents, so now we’ll pass his music “the venom” to our kids as well. So true too 👌🏻🙂
The visual bar with the dog is crazy!! When the venom is passed onto the dog by the old man Eminem literally changes his flow to mimic a barking dog. Realised this today. Great reaction Knox, you always make me appreciate music man. Thanks bro.
I liked Revival the album was like a mix of styles of writing that felt like a mix of Marshall, Eminem and Shady 🤷♂️ I don't understand what the hate was about.
Many didn't listen to it which people admitted..they saw the track list and was like heck no. Eminem raps about alot of different stuff. Music really is about being cool what you can blast in the streets and clubs etc. People feel Eminem doesn't make cool music. Why there is very little diversity of topics in rap. Girls, money and haters mainly. Mumble rappers should be limited these veterans and new rappers people say are good should give people more but they don't cause fans don't care.
I never hated it, but I think music most people were looking for was music to blast at parties and what not, reason why Souls of Mischief's best song is the only one with just flexing and a typical rap flow (even it's fire af).
Just gotta say it because I have been watching Eminem reviews by like 5 ppl on youtube, you are by far the best reviewer. By far, I had to cut off the video I was just watching because I knew more than him. Keep it up!
Honestly just thought of this Let me know if anyone else thought of this as well Do you see how when the music effects someone else with the “Venom” the faces glitch out or morph into something else I was thinking that it maybe shows how Eminem is more then one person - Eminem - Marshal M - Slim Shady

Another thing, Knox, you could say that the video is a quadruple, because in the Movie, Venom, the Klyntar, Riot, would jump from host to host until they find their perfect match. And, just like Venom is doing here, both beings didn't stop jumping from person to person until they found their perfect match.

I've listened to it a 100 times but never thought it's such a masterpiece , hats off to you bro !!!!! You the 🐐
I noticed something while watching, whenever the Eminem music (The Venom) enters a person, the Eminem that is walkin around in the dark room with the single light is actually the venom within them that got transferred, that's why at the last we can see that the venom form looks up and almost asks it's host "When they get bit with the?" then the host completes his sentence by saying "Venom" this may symbolise that the Venom has found its perfect host and that the stuff Eminem cooks up in his mind can only be contained and controlled by him. If you agree with me, drop a like so Knox can see.
Never thought about that and it makes perfect sense🔥🔥
I just love how em is so hype at the end. Great to see him passionately into his music for someone who at times is so critical of it.
LMAO I just caught this: "Let us in" ref to The Raven by EAP when he hears someone knocking on his door:
"While I nodded, nearly napping, suddenly there came a tapping,
As of some one gently rapping, rapping at my chamber door."
Let us in.... LMAO that was gold
How do ppl not see this dudes greatness. Top notch writing n technical skills all on display here
They are blinded by hate and racism
The CD the reason why the case was cracked is a continuation of the CD that was cracked and stepped on in fall from Kamikaze album
LISTEN TO MY WORDS: At 18:30 he talks about two different rhyme schemes happening on the same line. Its because there's two people, we are venom.
That humming is literally how the Marvel character Venom „humms” before eating his enemies (or chickens)
Almost 3 years to this track and album, have watched dozens of reactions and breakdown and multiple TIMES. At that time NLS shaq didn't even have 50k followers Respect #NLS but By far the best breakdown.
Give this man a MEDAL 🙌🙌
KNOX THE MAN!!!
That’s love bro. Appreciate the support 🙌
If we had a guy like eminem then we need a guy like knox
how does someone have this level of wordplay like eminem? it amazes me. and honestly i never caught some of the stuff in this song thank you knox for breaking down. and chaos theory is fire!!!
This is one of my favorite songs EM's a Beast and Knoxhill's a Beast at breakdowns
Em is so talented at bending words and creating percussion with his voice we are all used to it. What he does is insanely difficult. And to be able to do it, have it make sense, and be cool? Impossible for anyone else.
I was like damn it took long enough for Knox to unravel venom
The bar “like your web and your just caught in them” web could also be referring to Spider-Man, venom’s enemy
Same Revival CD that he stepped on for the outro to Fall - kind of a Tarantino-ish Pulp Fiction time-phasing editi.
I’ve been lurking for a while but your Eminem reactions have really helped me to improve my own technicals, thanks man
In my opinion this is one of Em's most slept on tracks, as far as pen game goes because most people take it as just a cool sounding Movie tie-in song not realizing the whole song is actually a triple . Great breakdown bro!
I honestly feel like this is one of those songs where the actual bars go under-looked because the song is a Hit/Single and sounds more of like a radio play type of song when just looked at from the outside but when broken down like this and looked at on the inside that is where the song really shines.
To me, these are the most difficult songs to create, (even though I'm a nobody so I probably have zero idea what I'm talking about) the songs that everybody can enjoy;
The people who may not be huge fans of hip hop, to the casual radio listeners, to the hip hop heads and so on.
I guess what I'm trying to say is that I imagine it takes real talent and a real eye and ear to be able to make a hit single that also has incredible substance.
You know a song so good it makes a dog lip sync? 😂😂
Damn, They better make it!!! 😂😂😂😂
😂😂😂
I think this song is about Shady letting everyone know he hasn't gone anywhere. Shady never left us, he was under the music, moving from fan to fan and always ready to take the spotlight from Em.
I can’t wait for Em’s next project! I hope he feeds us sooner rather than later!
Do you think he will give us a new album?
Thanks bro.
Bro u just gave me a WHOLE different understanding of this song😭😭😭
Bruh how you feel about that clear and obvious (ahem) shout out in the first line?
"Knox, knox, let the devil in..."
Huge.
I liked Revival the album was like a mix of styles of writing that felt like a mix of Marshall, Eminem and Shady 🤷♂️ I don't understand what the hate was about.
TBH I think that is exactly what he was going for I think alot bars went over people's head, hell imma Stan and I'm still catching bars from Revival
@@johnwebster7287 young thug>Eminem
I never hated it, but I think music most people were looking for was music to blast at parties and what not, reason why Souls of Mischief's best song is the only one with just flexing and a typical rap flow (even it's fire af).
@@yourpiefaceismyface5279 who?
This track is so underrated and so dope. Thank you Knox
I've heard this hundreds of times, and never heard anyone break down ET/Elliott bar.......that's why you are the YT reactor GOAT #hilltopmafia #goat
if u haven't noticed the revival on floor is broken because in the video song 'Fall' he stomp on it and the black ghost in fall went in the revival cd
But can we appreciate Knox for his such well-detailed explanations, he truly is an actual rap fan also his own album is SO dope, the beats and all
Just gotta say it because I have been watching Eminem reviews by like 5 ppl on youtube, you are by far the best reviewer. By far, I had to cut off the video I was just watching because I knew more than him. Keep it up!
Ur a lyrical genius knox brotha just wow so much knowledge about eminem lyrics and the meaning 2 them all yo 💯💥💣🔥🏆
Honestly just thought of this
Let me know if anyone else thought of this as well
Do you see how when the music effects someone else with the “Venom” the faces glitch out or morph into something else I was thinking that it maybe shows how Eminem is more then one person
- Eminem
- Marshal M
- Slim Shady
Knox, I love your reaction and shows to Eminem. Much respect from all the way over in Ireland! Shady forever, the most underrated, underappreciated and greatest artist of any and all time. Knoxhill love your breakdown of Eminem and music. Total respect man!
Brotha.. honestly; the amount of break downs for songs I have watched. U have absolutely the best break down and explanations that I am lookin for. Finally I can listen to a banger and hear it be broken down in a legitimate manner with someone with actual history to the artist.
Keep doin what ur doing. Mad respect for this any many other breakdowns
Hey Knox, thanks so much for doing these videos! For non-native English speakers it really helps understand the bars, makes me appreciate even more his songs. And crazy knowledges, so impressive! Keep going :)
The Crash matching the elevator hit : The Video Editors are the unsung heros of Eminem career if you ask me.
The flow of this part of the song is, in my opinion, one of the best flows. I've had my struggles with the alcohol and pills so that line brought had me choked up the first few times i listened to the song. It hits home and allows me to keep going with sobriety.
" Ate shit 'til I can't taste it
Chased it with straight liquor
Then paint thinner, then drank 'til I faint
And awake with a headache
And I take anything in rectangular shape
Then I wait to face the demons I'm bonded to
'Cause they're chasin' me but I'm part of you
So escapin' me is impossible
I latch onto you like a-parasite"
Idk if anyone has already mentioned it but at the beginning the CD is the same one from the end of the “Fall” music video
So my daughter is a big Em fan....which is hard to find ok songs of his for a 8 yo to listen to 😂😂, and Zandra wants you to know she loves your videos. And that you help her to understand the raps songs she loves so much.
9:48 Knox he also shouted me out
Hey Knox, wanted to say thank you. Your ERB reactions got suggested to me and they have been the most in depth and educational breakdowns to listen to. Normally I never listen to reactions that aren’t 1st time reactions. I made an exception with Venom because I’ve binged so much of your content and highly respect what you do. After seeing this and all that i missed in this song, I absolutely will just dig through ALL of your content now. Thanks for the education and opening my eyes, (ears).
3:40 Mitochondrial, as in 'the powerhouse of the cell.' The Venom gets into your organelles and converted into energy. Through his music, he's helping generate that #AdrenalineMomentum. #LoveAndPeace #AndRapGame \m/
That should be a shirt, "Flip your insecurities and wear them like armor"
I always thought that the stutter like "i-i-it's evident" was mimicking the knocking as a callback to when he says "knock knock, let the devil in"
I knew you from the KSI reactions but GOD DAMN. You are really talented being able to appreciate all talents. Earned yourself a sub. YOU ARE SO GOOD MAN
Official welcome to the channel! 🎉 Thanks so much for the comment! 🙌🏼
most of people stayed at the theater for the extra scene, i was like f·&k that im waiting for M`s venom song.
This song and music video is a masterpiece to be studied and hardly to do better in time.
Eminem is in another level, all alone.
Portugal here for the Goat Eminem always since day one and forever. Thanks for reacting. Salutes.
this intelligent breakdown reaction was as fire as this song. your knowledge and ability to make connections in the lyrics is amazing. truly learned something here. subscribed!
A lot of people don’t understand how deep this song really is. Neither did I until you broke it down, but I loved this song ever since it came out and now that I learned how complex it really is, I love it even more! GIVE IN TO THE, VENEM!!! #EminemRules
That was dope flow Knox! Dropping bombs
Helll yesss!!!! Off my chest was awesome mann
Thank you brother
@KnoxHill "Can't take anything in a rectangular shape" Double on Venom being fluid in shape shifting? and/or Bars and/or rectangular Xany bars? strait fire... Been catching up on your breakdowns w/ TMac... then realized there's so much more, and that you spit fire yourself... Subed for life my dude. Keep bringing it... I hate my 9-5 lol
I am always so impressed by the vast amount of knowledge and retention that you have. Love how you pause to explain the references that go over the average person's head. By far the best reactor.
One of my personal faveriot songs from em
WAIT YOUR A FELLO BMORE BOY??!!?? YOU WERE ALREADY ONE OF MY FAVS NOW YOURE EASILY IN MY TOP 10!
Also at the start with the mitochondria they’re the OG symbiotes which did they symbiosis with our ancestral cells to make them what we see today!
🔥🔥🔥
This is an amazing breakdown! You’re unbelievable
I'm not even that much of a rap guy myself, but Eminem is a legend and a master of words.
My favorite part of this song is at the end when he describes the venom suit and similes eddy brock as you and I’m the suit!! That whole scheme is ingenious
Best reactors who break down of music. Knox, Stevie Knight and NoLifeShaq
Great company to keep right there 🙌
Nolifeshaq literally just says stupif things and laughs, doesnt really break down anything
@@SamuelSaveli he sometimes does he catches them that’s why his expression would change but he’s not like Knox or Stevie
I can recommend mrlboyd as well
Another thing, Knox, you could say that the video is a quadruple, because in the Movie, Venom, the Klyntar, Riot, would jump from host to host until they find their perfect match. And, just like Venom is doing here, both beings didn't stop jumping from person to person until they found their perfect match.
You should call this series Ma-Thursday! (Mathers Day)
My guy!!! Barz 🔥🔥🔥🔥 idea
Damn. I didn't read comments before posting the same just now.
@KnoxHill Dude you completely blew me away with your level of understanding everything in this track. Like I didn’t get half the refrences til you showed up. And that just makes me love Em as a wordsmith more. So thank you for your level of comprehension and breaking it down more for us. It really just made me appreciate this song more. 🕸️🕷️🖤
I love poetry…hence I have to Stan Eminem’s amazing understanding of it all. He is such an amazing lyricist.
8:12 The elephant digested coffee is called BLACK IVORY COFFEE. But I prefer KOPI LUWAK coffee. It’s beans have been digested by a civet, which is similar to a weasel animal. And it’s friggin delicious. 🤷🏼♀️😂
Knox is discovering the deeper meaning behind Em’s lyrics for us❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥❤️🔥
Eminem once said at an interview that he appreciates all the reaction videos and breakdowns
Knox deserves lot of credit for that
I normally don’t watch breakdown channels but since I started watching your channel I’ve binge watched, half the time I don’t even hear songs til I see your videos, good stuff mate
Knox, I’ve checked out so many breakdowns. It’s not even close. You are so much fucking better than any other person I’ve ever seen .Legit, you are the only one who tells me things I didn’t realize myself after listening to the songs 10 times. Bravo my dude.
