    Wow... I never realized when I was playing this as a kid that the islands in Water Land (Ocean Side) are in the shape of Japan. Also never knew how much harder the game is in the Japanese version. Nice to know.

    You forgot that Peach doesn't try to troll Mario in the Japanese version after being saved.

    Surely it should be the Western Release, not just the USA release?
    Also was these changes also the same in Mario All-Stars?

    • @shinmusashi44
      @shinmusashi44 9 лет назад

      Not really. Because it's normally Nintendo of America that does the western releases.

    • @Larry
      @Larry 9 лет назад +1

      Yes really as it was the international release.

      I see that you are missing the point. The 2 main companies of Nintendo are Nintendo of Japan and Nintendo of America. Almost all English versions of Nintendo games are done by Nintendo of America. So it's an American release. If it comes to say, the UK. UK didn't release the game, Nintendo of America did. So just because it was international, US was the country that released it.

    I like how Mario is much more vulnerable in the Japanese version, especially in the case when he loses Kuribo's Shoe on 3:06.
    Those kinds of differences definitely made the Japanese version a lot harder.

    However... The world names of All-Stars are these...
    1. Grass Land
    2. Desert Hill
    3. Sea Side
    4. Big Island
    5. The Sky
    6. Iced Land
    7. Pipe Maze
    8. Castle of Koopa
    so, there are some differences are here...

    I just downloaded the Japanese ROM. The words are in Japanese, but the rest of the game is IDENTICAL. You still revert back to Super Mario (not Mario). The castle on the first level is also the exact same as the American video. Anyone know how to get the ROM used in this video?

    • @bneyens
      @bneyens 9 лет назад

      I figured it out. The ROM coded in 1996 is not this version. You need the version ripped in 1999 to match this video. The one on Emuparadise is the wrong one, you want the version from Doperoms

      Zoey Pelonis the difference is that the Japanese has the landless names for the kingdoms, (besides Grass Land) and in the American revision 0 had the landless names like the Japanese but "Castle of Kuppa" is changed to "Castle of Koopa".

    No difference what so ever it's just a little bit more challenging on the Japanese version but it's the same concept beat Bowser and let him fall down.
    Well I think we got it a little bit easier for North America I don't know about Europe if it's the same as Japan but at least anyway you slice it the Japanese version to me is a piece of cake but it's a bit challenging but not that much.

    From what I watched, there were no MAJOR differences whatsoever..other than when being hit with a super power, the U.S. version takes you down to Super Mario, while the Japanese one takes you all the way down to regular Mario. That, and the Worlds of the game having several different names for the respective countries..so, really no point in showing this. Now, the differences between the U.S. and Japanese on SMB 2, THOSE are staggering.
