Painfully good lol
scienceboy20814 how?
Zyrix改造 yeah I know lol
As far as I remember, people didn't swap lifes with the other player. Usually, they STOLE them...
I can confirm this.
+Atle Kristiansen The Old school
yeah, i had 20 lives one time and we were at bowsers front door and my brother took all but one and then wouldn't revive me.
There's a non gameplay difference between NTSC-U/PAL and JPN in the cartridges where the label in the JPN cartridge adds "Super Mario Bros. 4" as the subtitle for SMW as it was originally going to be called that.
Yikes. Maybe you shouldn't have this guy be in your vids anymore. He sounded like he REALLY didn't want to be there.
ElevateConcepts why do people have a problem with Fernando. He’s a good kid.
@@xXSpongeBroBrownPantzXx Maybe your video was on mute
This super Mario game is one of the greatest side scrollers of all time and a worthy sequel to Mario 3. The thing that astonishes me the most is how unstable this game is! Iy has HUNDREDS of game breaking glitches!
Sounds like he's just camera shy.
@@YiddishDancingClown I agree. He just seems shy
4:10 YES you CAN get to the secret exit with the Cape. I've done it many times.
4:05-4:15 The cape actually DID help me reach the secret, and I skipped a lot of the game that way.
Luigifan64 There's no where to get a run up though. I say that yet I bet some TAS runner could do it.
+Luigifan64 what s your favorite 2d Mario Game Mine is Super Mario World
+JoshKall there is enough space to run and gain anough speed. i just tested it^^ u dont need those pink blocks
ok.. didnt know that skiping a lot of a game is a good thing. normally people want to play it if they bought it, not skip it. i mean its the god damn intention of a videogame in the first place.
bet you are one of those who also get carried in mmorpgs so they can brag about being high level but they dont even know how the game works cause they never played it themselfes lol... and yes, i hate noobs/casuals. they ruin everything. just look at how easy modern mario games got for example. even megaman games.
or the crash bandicoot remake... "the dark souls of platformers" - "one of the hardest games ever"... when i was a kid i played it all in one sitting without any big problems...
kids these days are just too lazy and dont want to learn anything about a videogame and dont wanna improve their gaming skills. they just wanna get through as fast as possible. so when a normal difficult game like crash comes along they lose their mind and its "impossible hard"... i hate kids these days... and all of that downfall of gaming difficulty began with people like you.
long story short: you are the garbage of the gaming community. you dont deserve to even talk or think about videogames.
DarkRetro95 please tell me this is sarcasm lmao
I want a version of this without Fernando.
Matthew28845 same
There is a version on his Main Channel without the guest star
In the Japanese version, the opening intro goes straight to the game when the music ends. In the international version, you have to press a button to continue.
Oh wow! Really? I never let that happened in the Japanese version on my old beatdown PC.
No mention of the All Stars + SMW changes?
Like how SMAS+SMW has a totally different Luigi sprite?
@@WyndenRayne or that the color pallet is more darker
My wife plays "dodge the mushroom" all the time :(
4:07 I actually got up to the secret exit at the top by only flying up there with no other help such as blocks. Needless to say, It was extremely hard. Also played Super Mario World on a Super System at a McDonalds in my youth. It was a strange feeling.
Is Fernando a Make a Wish kid?
Yes he is
Was fancy ability of eating dolphins added to the GBA port? Because I swear I remember being able to eat the dolphins in like a mofo in it
jairom1242 That is correct. You are able to eat the dolphins in all GBA versions.
@@JoshKall Wow…that's a bit too much for the little kids since the dolphins don't hurt our bros and Yoshi.
Is your boyfriend reading of a script? At least joke with conviction, sounds so stale.
+Ali Makaveli "That level was hard as dicks" was the only natural sounding delivery.
+Frizzurd lol
Is he really gay?
This video is awesome Josh!! My new favorite from your channel!
6:20 Ah the precursor to “You’re winner.”
boy that other dude was super lame. I'm gonna watch more of your videos.
Great video dude! you just forget that Luigi has a different sprite in the SMW normal version and in the SMAS version
where is the video great? did you mute it to ignore fernando? if so then yes it was great.
WOW I PLAYED THE NINTENDO SUPER SYSTEM (arcade) WHEN I WAS A KID!!! I was at Niagra Falls, the Canadian side, and wandered into an arcade. To my amazement, I saw a Super Mario World coin-op, so I tried it out. It allowed me to start from different points (beginning, mid or late; they weren't save files) so I chose midway, which was by the Cheese Bridge levels. Needless to say, I was amazed, and never again did I encounter this wonder in my life. Thanks for posting a great video!
*When someone mentions "chocolate" when referring to Chocolate Island".
Me: CHOCOLAAAAAAAAAAAAAATE!!!!
Fernando ruined this.
Dededestruction why is this every fucking comment. I don’t get it.
Just one guy is enough for this.
Um... Yeah... I don't remember the *original (standalone) PAL version* displaying "96" in blue on the save file screen. In fact, it was like the panel on the left, with the star next to the 96.
Were you playing that from the compilation version on Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World? Or are you playing it through an emulator? Because that might be a later version of the game you've been using.
They could've mentioned that the version of Super Mario World in All-Stars, Luigi has his own new sprite, but in the original version he is just a green palette swap of Mario.
For that end thing does the Smash Bros demo count? I'm currently trying to get my hands on a Super Mario World cartridge to get the original experience
(On a flat screen of course)
Damn I never knew Yoshi eats dolphins in the Japanese version of Super Mario World !
I know right
due to yoshi being a "freindly" koopa troopa, explaining the resmblence of his saddle to a koopas shell
Embargoman The same on Super Mario Advance 2...
i love the strange humor in this. subscribed.
Actually earlier PAL versions also have " * 96 " similar to NA version. Later versions have blue "96". It would seem later version is much more common.
1:49 It sounds like the main guy is whoever and Josh sounds like that whoever the main guy is.
In witch version, is posibble make a road from donut plains 2 to donut secret 1 and back??
That cape WILL help you reach the secret exit.
If you can manage to reach P speed (it's doable--with or without the "running back and forth on one small platform and jumping to conserve speed" trick--the legit alternative is to destroy the blocks in the block trap section and clear a path), and then do a rising spin jump (hold spin jump button while at P speed), you can reach the area above without needing to hit the block for the vine (as long as you haven't hit the red switch).
EDIT: Sorry, didn't realize other folks pointed this out.
So was the 50hz/60hz NTSC/PAL difference accounted for in the PAL version? I want to buy Mario World on UK eShop but I don't know if it's the PAL version or if it matters for this game, too bad Nintendo doesn't give you a choice to download different versions.
Yes, Mario World is a game they adjusted for PAL regions. I just checked and the version on the Wii U eshop is the US version anyway. It says in the software description.
+Figgy Also, does the 60hz make the game smoother looking? The speed looks super buttery (bridge) smooth, and i wish the NTSC 50hz could do that.
+rkotm Actually NTSC is 60hz and PAL is 50 hz. 60 will naturally be smoother than 50 but it may not be especially noticable to some, especially if the game has been optimised to run at the different speed.
oh. does the SMW PAL version run smoother scrolling though???
rkotm I don't know whatt you mean, when they were localising the game for PAL regions something may have been changed for the scrolling to be "smoother" but I can't think why it would be smoother than the NTSC version, sorry.
I'd love to see a video on the SNES standalone, All Stars, and GBA version differences.
There is actually a version on his channel that has (recut) in the title and it doesn't feature the guest stars voice clips those were cut and that's all the differences from the second version on his channel
Damn it's been forever since I've seen a Super System, used to have one at the skating rink way back when
There used to be a really great drama series in Sweden during the 90s called "Rederiet", and in one scene from one of the first seasons they just randomly had a 19-year-old character (Göran Gillinger, one of the main characters during season 2 and 3, I think) stand and play "Super Mario World" on the Nintendo Super System for like 5 minutes, split into several small scenes spread out in the middle of the episode - he was having trouble with the flying Hammer Brother on "Donut Plains 4" and would fool around there for a long time, and then a boy came and watched him play it.
They didn't even have any lines, they were just quiet and sometimes they gave each other quick looks like "yeah, that's how it's done".
I have no idea why they used that scene at all, but it was pretty funny - I have never seen a scene like that go on for such a long time in a drama series before.
But then again, I think this episode was from way back in 1991 (definitely not much later than that, at least), so it was probably some sort of promotion scene that they threw in there.
The last time I played this game, I beat it in no more than two hours, and that includes going through all the secret levels as well.
Also, you can get 100 exits in the Japanese version through intense glitching
I actually have a Nintendo Super System at my closest arcade, and I already knew about it.
I feel special.
I really enjoy this video.
The Cape is there to help you get out the side boxes. If you do the spin jump the all the boxes are flipped so you can walk out. Helpful for beginners :)
Ah that makes a lot of sense. Just something to stop you from having to go all the way around.
+JoshKall
I think it has something to do with the koopas there. To get out you throw one at the blocks, but then need to jump it after the inevitable bounce back etc. I've seen beginners struggle with this - get killed or run away only to find he's there again when you come back... So the cape helps massively as a straight power up, to aid jumping, and also a way to get out of there by flipping all the blocks with that button. I reckon anyway :)
4:41 : Why do you think I have two dolphins as my wallpaper? :)
what emulator did u use to make the video?
For everything that isn't PAL I used the ZSNES emulator.
is the pal version the one that's not emulated
“If you don’t want to play it yourself for some reason...”
What, did you really think I owned the game?
2:05 "Guess which one isn't emulated..."
Well definitely the PAL version. It looks a lot more like it came from a crt.
the title screen in the japanese version has a dropshadow because they used smb3 as a base to test the new software, and they used it as a base
How come the PAL box is yellow? Mine was red
you know if in any of these versions you can make a path from donut plains 2 to secret donut 1 and back, a friend knew how to do it but I don't remember how to do the trick
*the Super System were in cinemas and bowling alleys folks!!* 💡
Also to add many years later. All Stars version. Some of the parallax scrolling was taken out of world to save memory on the cart
I played SMW On the GBA port. It was pretty good. i Liked how they added the voices to mario and luigi.
Nice production value in these videos.
You think so? I haven't heard that before. Thanks.
You have that voice for these kinds of videos.. The editing is well done.. You make it easy to watch haha.. unlike pewdiepie and all that "AHHHH Random shit everywhere all the time PEEEWWWDIEPIEEE" Type shit.. Its just annoying.. Keep up the good work and enjoy a new sub!:)
Well thanks. If you want more videos like this and not my LPing stuff. Check out my other channel: ruclips.net/channel/UCIRjVF72fIn-N_TNOS6rKVw
This guy sounded like he was being held captive by Josh.
No, that yellow block is added if you get the switch palace first.
I remember that arcade I havent seen one in 20 years it consisted of mario world some tennis game and one more game I cant recall.
Hey, Josh, i noticed that if you have a p balloon the music slows down a bit. Very hard to notice, yeah.....
Why did they have to change the box art
What about advance and all-stars changes?
2:28 This MailBox is Mine!
What are you running the game on/through because it looks truly gorgeous in your video footage.
PS. They had a Nintendo Super System at my local arcade when I was a teenager :-D
inceptional Japanese and American footage (the majority) was emulated.
The PAL footage was recorded from my SNES using a dazzle capture card, recorded and de-interlaced using Virtual Dub.
That's really cool. I'd love to screw around with one if any still exist.
i wont die, not yet amigo xDd -fernando
Oh Man the Nintendo Super System!!! We had one of those at the Skatin' Place here! It was sooo fun! I was one of the few that could beat it on 1 quarter.
Are you PERSONALLY spotting all the differences, or had you looked online to see what they were and compiled a video based on that?
Did you know that the PAL version of Super Mario World has different a different athletic theme?
I get I'm late to the party but how haven't you achieved more subs? This content is actually good compared to the shit that's everyone does.
Cheers and a sub bro
4:27 WHY WOULD YOU WANT TO EAT DAN MARINO??
I have the Japanese version installed on my PC.
The japanese version is my personal favorite
i remember playing the Nintendo Super System at McDonalds back in the day - it only had like three games on it (including this and F-Zero but i don't remember what else) - it was like 1992
I had no idea you could re-enter castles...
4:29 Well strangely, Yoshis eating dolphins also exist in the GBA remake port of this game.
What is PAL?
"i'm gonna eat you boi"
-Shadow of SMW Logo
I used to play the Super System Arcade, the controller was very uncomfortable.
0:40 I know what the nintendo super system is their is one near this place called the pinball gallery, and it has 3 games. Those games are Mario world, a game called zombies ate my neighbors, and a basketball game (I don't know anything about the last 2 games). Under the screen there are pictures of a games that isn't on the system but covered buy pieces of paper that say the games that were on it.
Fantastic video. I actually just finished playing the Japanese version recently.
I had an extemely weird glitch in lemmys castle, i was normally playing the level till i got to the skull train thing. but all of the sudden mario's sprite dissapeared, then i heard a loud beep and the screen faded to black, after that the music got stuck in one note & so i had to reset the snes, when i got back My save file was missing!!!!!!!!
Sounds like some kind of cartridge disconnection.
I had the PAL version and, like the American version, it had the star beside the 96 when you got every exit from every level. It was an early PAL version.
My pal version has the star next to 96? Different releases?
Don't worry, others have stated there was different releases.
6:35 whats going on with cheep cheep where mario look???
I've actually played an Snes arcade cabinet! There's one in Redbank, Nj at a placed called retrocades. The cabinet is kind of lousy honestly. It was a well maintained machine (the machines are all in good condition there), but the controller, which was an oversized snes controller about the size on an n64 controller, had a really stiff d pad and the buttons were awkward and stiff too. I played a little fzero, but I didn't even bother finishing the game. It's a neat oddity, but it's not really worth seeking out.
2:03 The PAL version because the screen is more in porr quality and because you are from the UK or some part from Europe
I wish I knew about the castle thing when i was a kid, unfortunately by the time I played the game, the system was already a few years old and the shoulder buttons were broken except for the R button on one controller
could you do a version diffrence on super mario 64?
***** Do you know that there is a web version of Super Mario World for the PC/MAC? I'm not talking about the deluxe version....thingy, i'm talking about a web emulator emulating Super Mario World.
You forgot the single removed message box in the Nintendo Super System version.
I know, but there are two version of "pal version" of Super Mario World. The first one, is in a bundle with the console, the super nes, and are the same of the japanese version, but with translated name and text in english, and the second one, sell without console, like the version of the video (only in Italy I think)
This is the first I've heard of this. I'm Australian so my Cartridge is PAL and it has all of the changes the NTSC game had.
+JoshKall the Italy is famous for stupid things in console...and games
did you ever notice that if u ever the first water level and go down the pipe where the spikey snowmen dudes are, if u have yoshi, their taller by like 3 balls, and if ur just mario they're shorter
I had very fond memories of playing this in 1992 a lot
I have seen those arcade cabinets in various pizza places in the early nineties. I don't think I ever saw anything other than F-Zero, SMW and that Tennis game in them, though.
I've never seen one myself, so I can only reiterate what I've read online.
There’s a revision in the “Super Mario All-Stars + Super Mario World” version that gives Luigi custom sprites instead of a Mario recolor.
New video already?
I don't understand why all the dislikes, but whatever, good video!
Always wondered about the *96 levels font difference. My original UK cart bought in UK must have had the USA version on it because it had the star next to the 96. Later it changed to green without the star. I assumed at the time that my cart got swapped with a friends cart somehow so I ended up with his cart. He bought his Snes a bit later. This confirms kind of confirms that. Presumably earlier UK releases had the USA version. Maybe the Europe version wasn't ready in time.
Impressive.
you live in the UK?
Australia actually. We also use the PAL standard.
The pal version is not emulated in this video.
Ooh I played super Mario world on the super system when I was a kid!
I remember the Nintendo Super System, That's where I first played this game.
I could eat Dolphins in my American Super Mario World cartridge...
Helladamnleet Better check again. Because it is indeed impossible on the NTSC-U version.
One of the arcades down in Kansas City still has the Nintendo Super system
OMG I played the Arcade Version, I remember it was at a pizza place in NJ, I never saw one again and thought I imagined it
That's cool. I'd love to see one of these things in real life.
***** yea i was around 8 or 9 it was like 1991
Nice one, but why din't you include the all stars version?
sinancothebest Because at the time I forgot that version existed. I believe the only difference though is Luigi's sprite.
