Coming from someone who has been a fan of this show since day one and watched every episode as it premiered, the reason no one has heard of it is because Disney refused to market it. After season one, it was incredibly rare to see a promo or merch of any kind, and episodes were usually aired early in Sunday mornings. I’m surprised that the finale even got that many views (I remember waking up super early so I’d have time to watch it before church). And yes, there is a lot of filler, but it was never meant to be a fully serialized cartoon. Yes, it had the gripping and somewhat dark overarching storylines, but at the end of the day, it was a kids cartoon for little girls who love Disney princesses. And I personally still love many of the filler episodes for the great character and relationship moments we get. I recognized that this show probably does have flaws that I overlook, but it is still one of my favorite shows ever made and the soundtrack belongs on broadway
Two points you said, that I also found major: For a children's show it avoids a lot of clichés and adds nuance to issues. It develops a pairing without any forced relationship drama. For these I applaud this series and it is quite revolutionary.
One of the biggest Mistakes Disney made during this time was not having an Animation block for their hit shows at the time. Star vs. the Forces of Evil, DuckTales, Tangled, Big Hero 6 and Star Wars Rebels were all major hits. They could’ve made a TV block so that people could tune in to see these great shows.
I swear you're the most based youtuber I've seen in a while. Ninjago, DuckTales AND the Tangled tv series???? Easily some of the most high quality content I've seen in a while!
She lives! Also, I actually enjoyed this show for the most part. Although the filler and Cassandra’s sudden switch was very disappointing, but overall, a pretty decent series. I’d say it’s a solid 7/10
Within the small fandom there is, I've seen this sentiment a lot. Cassandra's switch isn't that random or badly written. Maybe it's because I relate to her on a painfully real level, but she kept her feelings hidden pretty much because raps isn't just a one-dimensional "you are my inferior" character. They are definitely friends, but Cassandra notices their divide more than Raps does. And you can see in earlier episodes that Raps does rely/ instruct Cassandra at multiple points. It's why Cass is so conflicted in the final season. Personally, I think her turn to evil makes a lot of sense. I was more disappointed with Zhan Tiri. They're the big bad and are only in their most powerful form for like. An episode
I feel you about the Faith situation. My favorite character in Megamind was Bernard. When he got introduced, I was like, "cool, I hope we see more of this dude!" then he just gets impersonated and almost murdered.
"the goggles and the hairstripe feel like a very deliberate attempt to get the audience to cosplay as him" guilty. very much guilty. i have the entirety of his season 1 outfit, minus the brown pants.
1:58:17 Cassandra's line might be about her own feeling here, feeling betrayed by Rapunzel and blaming herself for trusting her. I know it barely makes sense, but hurt Cassandra might think like that.
All the degressions about clunky character work and wasted potential were very close to home knowing: 1. Cassandra was meant to be evil all along (knowing she was Gothel's daughter from the start and playing the long game) but as they wrote it she became a crew favorite (specifically that of executive producer Chris Sonnenberg) and thus Zhan Tiri was created to soften the blow. 2. Chris Sonnenberg seems to dislike Varian, or at least resent him taking so much of the fandom's attention, to the point that the show's Discord straight-up banned discussion of him. Great analysis of the show, a beautiful mess with high highs and the most tragic lows!
I've been seeing a lot more people talk about Tangled The Series recently, and I'm really happy that it's getting more attention. I still remember when the show first came out, and I've loved it since then.
To be fair the fandom may not be super BIG but they are dedicated!!! They are very "delulu is the solulu" for what I've seen, and what has shocked me the most is the way Varian fans took those turned down ideas of "Varian and the 7 kingdoms" and created a sub-fandom from almost nothing!!! It really amazes me bc there are fan-songs, animatics, storyboards, fanfics and so much fanart for a super tiny specific part that wasn't even on the not so known show they watched, like you said the most written ship after Raps and Eugene it's Varian and Hugo and Hugo technically doesn't even exist and yet there is people creating content of him, it's crazy
we have convinced ourselves that hugo DOES exist, lol. there's a throwaway line in the flynn rider book mentioning "a boy named hugo, who liked to argue over everything", and it fits and we have decided it must be our hugo. he has a "voice actor" and everything, despite the fact that vat7k would have been a comic and not, in fact, a show. what can I say we love our angsty little gay rat boy
2:08:53 I would like to recommend anyone who knows this series well enough to recognize a great deal of characters from it, take a moment to look at this big zoomout and really process who is and isn't there. Some notable mentions: The only member of the brotherhood present is Quirin. No, "they already left" isn't an excuse, look around and onto my next point, Most (but not all) of the royal families from the Contest of the Crowns in Beginnings are there, for some reason, despite only being there as fill characters for that one episode ^^Also, not all of those royal families are present, Galcrest and Neserdnia are missing Even the guy from Pincosta and his guards are there, so clearly distance is no issue The lady who got bear hugged in Before Ever After is there bear hugging Anthony the Weasel for some reason??? The Stabbingtons and all of the Saporians have been let out of jail presumably just for this crowd shot Similarly, Seraphina has been taken out of fish jail, escorted by the Vodniks The Fake Giovanni, Lady Caine, Pocket, Dwayn and Axel are also out of jail, but have no escorts Flower Girl's mother is there, but not Flower Girl herself, despite her having had more lines than her mother, and instead next to the mother is some other little background girl who I can't recall ever seeing before The priest from Before Ever After is there despire not really being in the series at all except for the episode that's basically just Before Ever After again Quaid and the Beard of Bees lady are eyeing each other (I believe they're in a relationship, Quade has a picture/small portrait of her on his desk in Goodbye and Goodwill) Please feel free to comment any other small oddities you notice if you would like, this is just what I could come up with after looking over it for a couple minutes
Honestly love this show, The show was a lot of fun despite some of it's writing issues. The music is iconic, the returning and new characters are pretty fun, leading to a very decent show. I'd definitely say give it a watch if anyone reading hasn't watched it before.
The whole thing with Vigor, the weird psychic monkey, is that he was going to be part of the originally movie but he was cut, which is why he shows up during the movies’s credits.
In my opinion, this is my favorite animated show Disney has ever produced. It continues the story of Tangled perfectly to me. Plus, the music and new characters introduced are phenomenal. And honestly, I don’t get the negatives with Cassandra’s villain arc. To me, her villain arc is better than Varian’s because it was slowly built up over two seasons instead of simply being thrown in after only three episodes with the character.
If you want to know there is a fanfic inspired by series/au that rapunzel has a little sister named harmony who has the moonstone powers. And who is varian love interest.
I loved this show when I saw it for the first time. Probably because I was the the target age for the show when I watched it. And I still love it! I wish I could rewatch it but I don't have Disney+ anymore. This was a really great video. I am interested in what you think about all the new Ninjago stuff, and I can't wait to go see your lego stuff.
Missed you parachuting kitten glad you’re back, guys she posted!!! ❤ Also can you do more ninjago vids please, thank you, also I like your other videos 😊
I agree with your point about Cass motivation. Have her think she is doing good just because she stopped the two powers from combining is such a great idea, plus it fits her more, there is no way Cass would want to conquer Corona nah she would protect it, but with the moon stone at her hand, it would seem she is hurting the kingdom. Or maybe i'm just going insane but i think your idea it's better than what the series did

OKOK WAIT WHY DID YOU COOK WITH THE VSRIAN AND FAITH IDEA?? HOLD UP????? I’m actually playing with them like barbie dolls and throwing them into situations. CUZ WHAT IF FAITH LIKES WRITING STORIES IN HER FREE TIME AND ONCE THEY BECOME FRIENDS SHE SHOWS HER STUFF TO V AND HE GOES CRAZY OVER IT???? LIKE STRAIGHT UP FANBOY MODE. BASICALLY BRAINROTTING OVER HER OCS. And maybe it’s one of the only times Faith is genuinely passionate about something she does or makes??? Ouuughh I am so so normal about her……. i have so many ideas oh em gee hold up. may or may not write a self indulgent fic for these boogers. CUZ LIKE Varian would SO end up helping Faith out with her work and someone will stumble into them and one of them is in a laundry cart while the other’s pushing it (they take turns you can’t change my mind) and they’re both just sitting there like :3c AND THEN V WOULD YAP TO HER ABOUT ALCHEMY??? He’d be infodumping to her while she’s chilling out in his lab. Like someday Faith will spit out the most random alchemy fact and everyone around her will be like “ohhh you were hanging out with ur nerd friend weren’t you?” AND THEIR DYNAMIC WOULD BE SO SILLY LIKE we have this hyperactive(?) dude who never shuts up about his dorky ass interests and this calm girl who’s actually secretly JUST as much of a dork as he is, if not more so (i have hit them with the cringe beam). OK BUT ACTUALLY SNAPPING OUT OF THE BRAINROT FOR A SEC CUZ ur so real in this video, ur cosplays are so cute, and I was FROTHING at the mouth the whole time RHFJRHFJD I LOve THIS STUPID DUMB SHOW!!!!!!
in defense of season 1 (pre- queen for a day): yes, some of it is useless filler, very likely insisted upon by disney to give the show a younger, fluffier tone. but again, kids is who the show is for, much as I like to ignore that fact, and much as it goes unappreciated by its target demographic. so some of the episodes, like the one with uncle monty, are supposed to teach lessons and such, even if that obnoxious man pisses us all off. (what do you mean, you hate green? have you seen your pants? have you seen your shop? he sucks so hard.) however, I do appreciate getting to see the character dynamics and the worldbuilding, even if it drags on awhile. as someone who tends to prioritize characters over plot, it does make me care about them more. there are a lot of shows I watch that are well-written and have an interesting plot, and that's great and maybe even merits a rewatch at some point, but give me sweet new dream relationship moments, give me witty dialogue between cass and eugene, give me varian being a precious little disaster. give me so much varian, any varian, unlimited varian. challenge of the brave I think is better than you gave it credit for. even if cass' villain arc was... underwhelming... episodes like that one do set up the dynamic between cass and raps, and as a fan of the show I might be grasping at straws but the show writers clearly cared about what they were doing, I don't think it's too far-fetched to believe it was subtle foreshadowing. that said, as much as I love and adore this show, I can't deny that there are some episodes I skip. both max's enemy and the brothers hook did not need to be in there.
and several of the episodes in season 2 are the same. calliope is supposed to be "just because someone is annoying doesn't mean they're a bad person" and yes, kids probably didn't like this one either, but maybe they had an important morals quota to meet or something. episodes that we hate but do technically have a purpose. and the repeat gopher grab is just meant to bring cass/rapunzel back to the center of things, because it's gonna be plot-relevant soon.
also wait, season 2 is the one people don't like? I've heard the opposite, most people I know of think season 2 is the show's peak. my personal opinion is that all the seasons have some really peak episodes, but also some not so great stuff, so personal favs are just a matter of preference.
I was wondering how long it would be into the video before we got a Ninjago reference. And I thought it would be the Ready As I’ll Ever Be/Possession amv.
The series is good, but the fandom can be really cruel and delusional sometimes. Thinking AU's are canon etc. I wish fans would moderated themselves better. Treating each other with kindness and compassion. Doing things like properly tagging fanworks that include AU content even if it's a slight mention. I can't even count how many times I tried to read a fic but it included the name 'Ulla'. x___X It's become such a trigger for me. If the show was on the other food these people would lash out. I hope someday they will become more considerate to those not interested in the AU.
1:44:35 I'm sorry, They added Germans who think they are a superior race? It's a kid's show where the main characters are friends with literal German Nazis. What is this show?
Oh I have, I just never trust it bc Disney straight to dvd sequels are trash and also it’s a different art style (which is why I didn’t watch it as a kid) anyhow Tangled is the best Frozen movie
i am not normally a filler hater, but for some reason the filler in this show specifically was so boring to me. like in steven universe, the filler episodes were less bad because all of the characters in beach city (minus ronaldo) are incredibly lovable. while i could not care about any of the citizens of corona at all😭.
I watched the first two seasons in their entirety and I remembered pretty much everything EXCEPT the island arc, if I wasnt looking at the screen i wouldve been convinced you just made that up to make fun of this shows propensity for filler
You might think the island arc is pointless, but hear me out:
Cassandra and Rapunzel look really good in those outfits
FRRR😭😭🙏🙏✋️✋️
You said it not me!!
i've heard people say the same about eugene. it's multiple beach episodes in a row guys lol
32:45 "Pascal is Moses." I'm dead, you've killed me, how did I never clock that my god--

Cass' main goal was just to farm aura

My mother's favorite is Pascal too, and she loved even the dragon episode, so I must say there was at least some audience for that!
The filler episodes aren't bad in my opinion, I love the shell house shenanigans!

I always thought season two was the best. I didn't realise it was the least favourite.
😂 I just made an edit for this show
Yeah
I love your video. Please, I need someone talk about Lego Monkie Kid. Please
It’s a shame Eugene’s voice actor turned out to be a terrible person.
How?
I saw the first couple episodes and though "Its ok but just feels like diet the movie."
I loved it pretty much up until the finale. I’m actually pretty disappointed in it
HELL YEAH IM EARLY
2:08:21 wait so theyre in fucking FRANCE 😭😭
no they are in Corona, an ambiguous European kingdom with german and some french influences
@paul11-f9e the zoomout showed an accurate stylyzed map of our world and the beam came from within frances modern borders
because it''s worhtless wasting time shit I ever saw?
