- I've done some machining on the main diff gear and rim drive hub to allow the rim to move over to the left to help align the wheel. IT started out being around 8mm off set and is now around 2mm out. I'll now try to move the entire swing arm to fix this problem.

Gday, looks a lot better already, the offset was very noticeable before, there’s no real reason the swing arm can’t be move a little bit as long as the drive shaft is still running free, the 750 engine would look bloody awesome in the trike “just thinking out loud”, thank you for a another great video mate, ATB Matty
Thanks Matty, hoping to get the alignment spot on, just need more time. Haha, agree the 750 would be great for another project. Dune buggy, kart, trike....not sure yet but will create something a bit later with it...
I did a different system of conversion, and I used a 140/70/17" tire on a 3.5" x 17" Mag type wheel, the wheel tire combo is dead center. My bike is a 1982 750 Maxim.
Cheers, 50gary
I didn't realize there was an xj rim that looked so similar to the 3 spoke r1 this just made my day!
Just curious if the 900 swing arm could be used to avoid all the lathe work to center? I mean if it came off that bike to begin with
Do you know what bike your rim was from? Looking to do something similar, it's difficult to find wider wheels that are both disc brake and shaft drive besides the 94-03 xj900
@@johnbookout5405 Not 100% on what the rim came from. I bought the doner rear wheel at a motorcycle salvage yard. It is a Yamaha XJ rear (that ugly pinwheel cast alu. wheel) with a six bolt disc brake. I cut two different wheels apart, machined them both and TIG welded them together, it's a ton of work but worth it to me. I thought it was an XJ1100 but I'm no XJ expert. Doner wheel (the XJ wheel) size was 3" x 16" and it may well have been the wheel you mentioned. I have picture of the finished wheel(s) on the XJ bikes forum don't want to hijac this guy's youtube build.
@50gary thanks for the info and good idea he's done a lot sharing these vids sometimes we gotta figure it out our own way :)
If you'd like to sell that black xj650 tank that's the tank I'm looking for i tried an ebay "benelli mojave" but leaves a little to be desired
Hi Mate, I'm thinking about listing on ebay. I need to check about shipping a tank and if there are issues before I list. Not sure on shipping costs yet but will check it out soon
I'll keep my eye out for it:) I just ordered the xj900 swing arm, I like the 920 mono shock but, maybe on another bike, but my thinking was, maybe I could mount a 17 x mt4 without a spacing issue. Anyways, love the bike man I'll keep watching
