    I never understood why people turn a disagreement into “ ooh there must be tension backstage “ ... there is no reason for grown ass women to fight... this isn’t Love & Hip Hop , Basketball Wives or Real Housewives... this is a talk show where real conversations can be had and they are Abel to agree to disagree on a segment and laugh together about something else during the break before the next one... and tbh that’s what real friends and adults do.... we can agree to disagree and move on with life... it’s never that serious !

      It's because people are immature, ignorant, and never learned that a disagreement in a conversation shouldn't taint someones character. A lot of people are just miserable and have nothing to do better with there lives. lol

    Whew Lawd..Amanda is preaching. I never really experienced the "Angry Black Woman" title until working in corporate america. I am one of the few minorities on my team and immediatly felt the "frustration" people have with me anytime I disagree or express my opinon on a subject matter, process or project. While my counterparts are able to do so all the time with no issue. Sometimes I even feel the delivery of my peers are agressive or disrespectful, but it is never taken that way. Let me have one disagreement and it gets tense. It is exhausting at times

      @@DM-wu9jk So you're basically admitting it's because of people's perception of your personality, rather than your skin color? Because that's basically what you just said... Look, I'm white and talk like a degenerate in my personal life. Doesn't mean I don't censor myself when I need to be professional. I shouldn't have to, and you shouldn't have to. But to say it's all about race specifically? Amanda Seales is dead wrong on that.

      @Dswizzle90 Maybe. Or the cop could have just been an asshole. I passed a cop pulling someone over and literally could not move over so I slowed down, which is exactly what my state law allows for when moving over is not possible. Still was cited for it. Basically, "you didn't put a signal on so you had no intent to try to move over."
      "Of course I didn't have intent to move over. After checking for safety, moving over was impossible. So you'd have rather I caused a 10 car pileup than slow down as per state law. That's what you're telling me right now."
      I got the same nonsense. The officer loudly responds with an attitude of his own, saying "Sir, it's cold outside, I'm not going to deal with your attitude. Either pay the ticket or go to court. Goodbye.
      Thankfully I was able to get it thrown out. But the fact was... It wasn't because I was white. No, these cops were daisy chaining tickets from each others' stops. And he was an asshole. I've been in other situations where I was warned for an honest mistake and left without a ticket.
      Could the cop have treated you that way based on race? It definitely COULD be. But could it just be that he was an asshole and trying to make a quota and wanted to be technical on something petty and stupid? Also yes.

      @@XtremeConditions Or black women have a different experience in this country that you dont understand. Even you are dismissing something you have no way of relating to. It is very real. I have times when I try to explain something and I'm told to "calm down" even speaking in a calm tone. If I am direct about something I'm combative or aggressive. I have been at several companies and experienced the same thing. My peers of all other races have gotten to a point where they crossthe line in myeyes as they get "aggressive" when expressing concerns at work out of frustration, to the point that I cringe. It is interesting, I hear they get resonses like" I understand your frustration, we'll look into it". In the same meeting, I could ask about a goal that we have and ask for more clarity onn how it is measured and get tension, an eye rol (Real experience recently)l. But if I never say anything, we are great!. Anytime I speak up, I get this tension. If I dont get tension, I am outright ignored OR my question is overly simplified and not related to my actual question. Same thing happens everytime

    • @kwonhoeshi79
      @kwonhoeshi79 2 года назад +1

      I know ur comment was 2 years ago but I think this was the reason that the show ended. I think Amanda was the seed that had the ability to grow the show (& the conversations) but she was too real for The Real. I think The Real’s audience was growing and with this show being a panel of WOC and the viewers are majority WOC, they kept it too yt. Amanda was never scared to get real abt issues POC face and hold folks accountable and talk abt violence and injustice in black and brown communities. When Amanda was on the show, I felt like they had the deepest and best conversations and were the ones where I personally learned from the most. After she left, they went back to their old conversation style, leaving viewers complacent. Idk maybe it’s just me..

    I think in media in our minds subconsciously when we see the way someone talks to someone we see it as the, hating , as them disliking the person and to me in friendships you get COMFORTABLE and you act normal and soon get attracted to that persons vibe and personalities mesh and sometimes when speaking on certain thing they might clash but that doesn’t make either of you a bad person or not friends , that just makes it a conversation with different opinions ! Yesterday’s girl chat is a wonderful example of that !

    But the thing is Tamara, when you were rolling your eyes at Jeannie, you were actually getting an attitude with her for no reason. It's not like you were playfully doing it. You were just out right being rude because she was explaining her opposite point of view about something and you were interrupting her and she asked to finish. It was really uncalled for and people just simply called u out on it. That's all it was. You started your own headlines with your unnecessary attitude.

    • @jyn88
      @jyn88 4 года назад +10

      Yes! I actually just made a comment about this. It wasn't just rolling eyes. It was the attitude and tone. Jeannie actually asked to finish nicely and calmly. If I remember correctly, I think she even touched Tamera's shoulder or hand as her "sorry." Jeannie usually allow people to cut her off sadly. The ladies always cut her off but that day she was really in deep thoughts and wanted to finish what she was saying.

But what I've seen is during the show they may get passionate about their point of view and have a "stand off" but by the end it's forgotten about and everything's cool. I don't know about everybody else but my girls and I debate at several volumes with a variety of body language looking like it's about that time...but we still love, respect and support each other when it comes down being real. Guess co-hosts are fun to add a little extra spice to Girl Chat every now and then but they DON'T NEED a 4th co-host. The four of them are strong together and earned themselves those Daytime Emmy nominations and awards without a 5th co-host. 5 hosts is just too much and not everyone gets enough time to speak their opinions. I believe they need to keep guest co-hosts as GUESTS and that's it. Tamera, Jeannie, Loni, and Adrienne have a perfect dynamic and flow with just the 4 oh them. Let's not try to "fix" something that's clearly not "broken".

    The key thing that can make or break a debate or the difference in opinion.. is first.. respecting the other person’s opinion & views.. A lot of people automatically start dissing & disrespecting the other person’s opinion/views/ choices if they don’t aline with theirs.. This way alone has ruined a lot of relationships.. from friendships, marriages, even siblings..

      Designed Forward I think they’re just referring to the fact that in America black women are stereotyped to have negative attitudes and to not be agreeable. Therefore, when a black woman is in a space that is predominantly non-black, there is that double standard where people may just brush you off and say you’re having an attitude problem, when in fact you have a right to be upset about the situation, but when a woman of a different background expresses herself people may take her more seriously. It just puts black women in uncomfortable situations trying to please everyone, because you do not want to be portrayed that way.

    Passive aggressiveness between women is always encouraged by toxic patriarchy culture. These women can disagree, speak in strong affirming tones, speak powerfully one day, softly the next, they can speak with annoyance, with irritability, with frustration , and still be loving kind-hearted women who uplift respect and honour one another. Do not like seeing women need to pretend don’t understand the patriarchy and racism (Tamera) and women feeling the need to people please and play nice validating girl 24/7 (Jeannie), and women speaking up and then having to semi-apologize and explain they are kind and sweet when everyone can see their kind sweet hearts (Loni). The women in these comment sections who analyze these women’s behaviours rather than their intellectual opinions, are examples of toxic oppressive patriarchy culture. Frustrating. Public speaking is an art and I’m so happy they have such a talented, articulate, self-affirming, powerful, dynamic, sensitive woman like Amanda Seals to address racism and sexism. We all fight micro-aggressions daily and people wait on their seat edges like some of the women in these comment sections to point out the ways you fall beneath perfection when defending yourself. Black women get abused , and people comment more about how they protect themselves vs them being abused. Women are raped and people debate if they deserve peace vs their abuser . Discrimination won’t ever fully go away (in groups and out groups are inherent human tendencies), yet we can call out
