Stephen Jo Bladd is a monster on the drums! He has been sadly overlooked when rock drummers are ranked. This song is so awesome...the interplay between J. Geils on guitar and Magic Dick on the harmonica is topnotch! And there can't be a better front man than Peter Wolf! Wow! Thanks for so much good music guys!
Great video! The very first concert I ever saw was Geils at the old Boston Garden on the Love Stinks Tour in '81. I was in sixth or seventh grade. Growing up in Boston in the 70s these guys were like Gods. They definitely don't get the respect they deserve, and I think a lot of people just know their one or two hits like "Centerfold."
When I was a young teenager we had a buddy who parents were wealthy his name was Mark he lived on Sexton Rd outside of Howell Michigan. He had a hay wagon party when they gone and this was the band playing their ass off! One of the greatest memories of my lifetime! Damn, they were Rock and F-ing Roll baby! The best!
I was there in Long Beach in 1976. 12 years old when I saw them first @ the Santa Monica Civic. I was hooked. Never been a live band like JGB. Peter is still amazing. I saw them all over the country. Saw them last year in Atlantic City. They still played for 2 hours. Seth with his Leslies. 4 of 6 but they still rocked. Jagger always credits Peter for giving more of his moves on the stage. Hall of Fame is asleep not to have these guys in there. Thx 4 posting.
I love the J.Geils videos - they bring back so many memories. But, the videos do them no justice. You had to experience them LIVE!! I Thank my older brothers and cousins for taking me to the early JGB shows in the 70's - at the ripe age of 13. I remember Sammy Hagar, Foghat, Head East, and U2 opening for them - And JGB blowing them all off the stage. They were differently a Hard act to follow if they were opening for you - Peter Frampton!! To this day, I can still remember how MD's harp and Justman's 3-B Hammond with Leslie speakers with the rotating horns would make the room vibrate when they played off each other. J, was such an under rated guitar player, he was no Clapton, Page, or Hendrix - But in my eyes he was the Best. And wasn't Bladd one of the Best show drummers of his time?
I attended this concert (must have been 1979...damn...;_)) in Essen/Germany. I was barely 15 and thought this has to be the baddest badass R&B performance of a band in the galaxy forever (probably was). Thanks for posting to everybody helping to put on almost the whole gig here. These guys really burned their hottest flame these days....Greetings from Germany, the upcoming Football Champion 2010.
When they would book Cobo Arena (12,000 seats) they would scorch the joint. It would take 3 days to recover! Peter Wolf is a genuine American Rockstar.
I saw this band over a half dozen times early and mid career and they NEVER put on a bad show. These guys could start a party at a dentists' convention. I saw several cameramen in the crowd at a show in West Htfd, Conn. in '78. It was a small club and I believe it was their managers' birthday. Maybe it'll show up one day?
These apartments in downey ca in 1977 where it really was a house party every night. This album got played alot. Great song along with great high school memories.
I saw J Geils open for Emerson, Lake & Palmer at Madison Square Garden. They were WAYYYY more exciting than the headliners too. A good times, party band!
The Best. Last Time I saw them was at MSG centerfold was No. 1 and it was J's birthday. I think it was the St. Johns marching band they brought out with a birthday cake! Oh...and George Thorogood opened. great night
@riversidekidd You got that right! I have been singing Stephen praises for years and miss what he brought to the band. I saw this tour and loved it!!!! I was the best of everything. I am glad they finally got back together.....but it ain't the same.....he had this cool, unpretentious, lay down the back beat thing that I miss.........this performance is a good example of that. Much thanks to whoever posted it!.
Ahhhh the seventies, from what I can remember it was a hell of at time. Sex,drugs and very loud rock & roll......A time when if their was a law against it we broke it. Why ?? Hell, Why not...........Nothin but a party!!!!

Don't want 'em in the RnRHOF. Would tarnish 'em.
Hall of Fame is a joke, has been from the start.
The soundtrack of my youth growing up in downriver Detroit!

Cool comments
bone me up before we go!!!!
One used to ask, "who is playing lead?" Dick on harp, Jay on guitar, or Seth on keyboards?
At thsi point in time--Peter Wolf or Mick Jagger?
As much cowbell as this song has, it could have used more.
Wolf more than made up for Magic Dick's lack of dance skills, I guess we can say!!!! :-)
its so cool to be the first to dislike a garbage vidoe
You can't troll OR spell LOL you are Comic Relief!!!!
