he has the SASR tattoo on his ribs, you see it at the beginning when he's getting med extracted. he's former Australian SAS. The neck tattoo is 3 spears
All things considered, Tyler Rake's recovery is more believable than John Wick's. Nobody falls several stories the way Wick did without getting his back broken. Also, Rake's recovery period was over several months from the time he was rescued so maybe the cast/brace was just there for some support.
Exactly i personally endured 6 surgeries ( tumor ,stroke infections and seizures) on my head, brain and skull I was in rehabilitation facility for two years learning after each surgery how to walk, brush my teeth etc doing the ordinary things that people often take for granted and so his rehabilitation takes place in 6 weeks.. it's taken me 6 years just to get my body to respond normally...fiction at it's worst😊 but I enjoyed the movie except that part very unrealistic
Tyler Rake is from Australia. He is a former Special Air Service Regiment (SASR) operator turned mercenary who often specialized in extraction operations and assassinations. He was married to Mia and had a child. While he was away on one of his tours in the military, Rake lost his son to lymphoma. The loss caused a schism between him and Mia, which eventually led to their divorce. Tyler Rake is seen using a custom-made rifle that mainly resembles a Daniel Defense M4V7S with an EOTech EXPS-3, G33 magnifier, AN-PEQ 15 laser module, Modlite weaponlight, BCM Gunfighter vertical grip, a suppressor with a cloth cover, and a Magpul SL stock.
When watching an action movie, I don't expect to see documentary-level detail, this one delivers pure entertainment though, and I'm all for it and like to see what they bring to expand the franchise.
Omg omg omg was he honorably discharged did he serve with distinction? Soooooo cool man do tell more!! Is he a combat vet what did his mates say about serving with him? I’ve heard the special air service regiment is a really special regiment in the air!
Buck, this channel is the shit. Thanks for always giving us something to look forward too. If I was still young and in the Army, I would definitely sign up for the one on one course. But I'm a old 11B and my body is fucked lol. Keep em coming brother.
This was great. Really enjoyed your guest Co-star he was great. Also really enjoyed the interview you did with him and I completely agree with how he feels about all these movies that show these bad situations but never explain why this happened and how it could have been avoided!!!
Rake is supposed to be a former Australian SASR Operator, the neck tattoo etc are the same type of tats that some SF guys get when serving in an ODA. A friend from the Regiment told me some guys get trident tats who served on the dive troop or Cadre, so maybe that's where it came from. Unfortunately, they didn't use any former SASR guys as tech advisors, just stunt men, in fact the Director is a former stunt man and stunt coordinator. If they'd have used SASR advisors I'm pretty sure he'd have been equipped with a suppressed MP5 for a Prison infil and extraction.
That scene on the train where he's trying to take down the chopper. He takes cover behind a ladder. I can't unsee that. Cracks me up every time. Fun movie though!
I love Jay on the show! He's awesome. Please have him back often. Might wanna just do Jay and Kurt and have Sean work the camera so we can't see him. That'll work too.
Idris Elba was Bloodsport in Suicide Squad, a different character than Deadshot in the first Suicide Squad, Bloodshot was Vin Diesel in the movie of the same name (I know it's confusing, I'm a comic book geek).
this was one of the best breakdowns you guys have ever done. it really explained things down. and yes, the prison extraction made absolutely no sense. it was frustrating and intense to watch. and no doubt, a professional would have done it better. i still really enjoyed EXTRACTION 2... and i loved THE COVENANT. jake G is one of the best actors in hollywood right now.
As for his tattoo on his neck, three spear heads is an aboriginal design..But i caught a glimpse in this movie of ASASR on his body, Australian SAS, so former SAS operator.
A fun fact about the Extraction movies: Chili Palmer was one of the technical advisors that helped train the actors for shooting scenes and action sequences, as well as gear selection. He was in Delta C Squadron during the early days of Iraq in 2003. I think it was his team that found Sadam in his foxhole
Alright, I was never SF and no one else I work with was military but when something completely ridiculous comes down from higher or our sales team wants to put a new patient on service at 445; I'm now referring to that as "a bravo plan".
Hi guys, re the mag dumping pistol rounds into the body armour (English spelling). I think this is the same thing they adressed successfully in John Wick 2 - you get VERY used to shooting center-mass (biggest target, lots of vulnerabilities) and it's hard to cancel that muscle memory even when the target is protected. John fails to kill armoured guys until he switches his tactics and jams the muzzle into gaps in the armour. Rake could try for face shots (even armoured, that's going to be like being hit with a hammer) or jam the muzzle into a thigh and try to blow out an artery.

((Even though I’m a martial artist and getting hit is kinda what I do lol.. but it’s alright. We weren’t in war time so))
Hi I'm from Thailand. I like to watch your movie reactions. I also like about military stuff. I just finish watching both of Extraction films. I adore both. I think it's better than many action movies released today.
I think Hemsworth probably just likes and is comfortable with a long M4. Maybe with his size, he might not feel comfortable with a SBR. His setup looks very similar to the first movie.
I respect the approach. That was wrong length for confined space and a sling seemed to be intentional for easily using as bludgeoning tool. I will say I appreciate hearing some critiques but movies like this, Rambo, John wick and the like are just like Star Wars or superhero movies just with real settings. These people are basically superheroes and the villains are storm troopers. I would like some of the details you mention being checked off and blend those with shots like the 20 plus minute oner.
MK-18 with a 10.5” barrel and an EOTech is probably the biggest platform id use in this setting. Not a full size M4. That first shot with a Suppressor is always louder than the follow up shots but not that loud lol
I have had many friends over the years who have seen action as soldiers and cops. For those who have been wounded, it's not like in the movies. A single bullet wound can take years to heal and in many cases, full recovery never. Happens. Despite how hard they work on rehabilitation. In some cases, they never become active duty again due to their injury. This can be a hard turn to work through mentally as many who serve as soldiers and/or cops NEED to serve. It's like in their DNA. The trick is to get them interested in serving in another capacity. Sometimes this is helping other's get through their injuries, physical and otherwise. Sometimes it's in some other role. But yeah, getting shot is not like in the movies.
Was really excited to see FNG release an Extraction 2 review, but really wish you would’ve gone into more detail about the tactics in various scenes. Obviously this movie is ridiculous and over the top, a lot like John Wick, but it’s still interesting to hear about the tactics (or lack thereof) nonetheless. Your review was great for the scenes you covered, but you skipped a bunch of the action sequences. I realize you can’t do a 2-hour detailed review of every minute of the movie, but that’s just my opinion for what it’s worth. Love your channel, keep up the good work!
21:03 it’s a good feeling when I watch this and make the critique that he’s got that 3x on his rifle and then to hear actual legit guys like y’all say the same thing.
29:00 When I was watching it, I thought Rake's character was being a bro and did not want to needlessly murder prisoners until push came to shove. Before he lost the rifle, he emptied the whole clip trying to gain some space. Prisoners can't fire a rifle that's Winchester.

Apologies if you have already have done so & if someone could direct me to that video, that would be appreciated greatly. Cheers for your service my fellow ally.

fantastic highspeed tactical operator🤣 I guess the guy laying on the leg machine was waiting his turn to fight the hero but then the hero crushes him with the weights
I’m glad you guys gave them shit for the weapon selection literally the moment I saw that in my head I was thinking “well somebody’s grabbing that... it’ll be a cool fight scene but damn that’s dumb” how the fuck you taking a like 16 inch barrel + suppressor when you’re going to be in an enclosed environment the whole time.
Love the movie, so well done! Great and funny reaction! The camerawork and action shots are so cool, crazy stuff man. The small things you spotted were funny. 👌 You talked about IED and EOD, I still recommend the (biographical drama film) "Megan Leavey" about a female US marine k9 handler in Iraq. You don't need to do a beers and breakdowns for it, because it isn't a full action movie, even though there are some interesting scenes! But as a veteran it is worth watching for the actual story. (coming from a no military background EU civ) Would like to hear your thoughts about it. 👀😊
You can tell that it is a Euro movie using what they think ops would use. They need to get a few to oversee tactics and gear. But these 2 movies were fun.
Great video as always, i love your story times! that pressure plate thing was wild af good thing got there sooner rather then later. definitely would have shook me up knowing that they were setting a trap and i caught it in progress. also just for my own curiosity because im ignorant. were bar fights/potential bar fights like a common thing in SF or this one of occasions? I thought there would be serious repercussions for getting into one, especially as SF cause higher standard, if caught so im guessing its one of those. don't get caught things?
31:33- Exactly, I been waiting for these 2 to go over the craziness of the train fight shooting. It's just ain't no dang way he fended off all that stuff, at all, much less how he actually did it.
That was my first question at the end of the movie… you learned nothing from the first movie??? All of these trained mercenaries and killers & not a single weapon sling in the movie besides the mini guns
I agree I found it absurd to inflate the prison alone. I even told my girl friend that while we were watching it. And my girl and I agree, both are medically trained, no way in hell someone will be ready in 6 weeks with Tyler Rakes injuries. You earned my sub.

After seeing you react to 12 Strong, I'm curious if you've touched on the actual story with Legion of Brothers. I was blown away by their film.
24:05 Suppressed guns allways sound louder at the first round because of the oxygen inside burning and gas pressure
use to run suppressed quite a bit never had that drastic of a sound difference
I agree I found it absurd to inflate the prison alone. I even told my girl friend that while we were watching it. And my girl and I agree, both are medically trained, no way in hell someone will be ready in 6 weeks with Tyler Rakes injuries. You earned my sub.
It's a movie, not a documentary!
