The first one-shot action sequence is 21 minutes long and took 4 months to shoot. One of the best shot and choreographed scenes in movie history, although it's mostly just to bring the audience into the film and feel like they are there with Tyler. As opposed to other films which only do a few minutes at a time like Birdman or The Shining but they tend to have a very big impact on story and characters.
@@4Kandlez A one shot, or a pseudo one shot in this case, is when there are no hard cuts of the camera. There were probably several dozen cuts in the shot, but they were hidden, thus giving the illusion of a one shot. This is why it is called a pseudo one shot. It is still called a one shot because it gives the same feeling to the audience. Also, taking 4 months to shoot doesn't mean there was 4 months of film footage. This time includes choreography rehearsal and practice, shot direction and layout planning, all of the different takes it took to actually get the shots they chose, and not to mention the scene reviews.
@@4Kandlez It's made to look like one continuous shot with very quick edits in between. Usually these are done when the camera is turning or moving between people. There is no way that it is one actual shot. That would be the greatest thing to ever be in the history of any film ever. So I doubt it would be in a Netflix movie let alone a Chris Hemsworth movie.
There's a behind the scenes that explains it all on RUclips. They said it's like 2-3mins shots stitched together to make it look like one shot. It's cool as hell
@@chaosapple7771 Yes, people have no idea what is involved in filmmaking into the make some films on any level (like I have). It's so much work, that if you don't love it you will certainly quit. You can spend a 16 hour day only getting a handful of SECONDS of footage depending on the context.
@@IonizedSmurf as much as i enjoyed the second one, i agree, i enjoyed the first a bit more, to me the first one was more grounded, and had a special survivor realism feel to it, the second to me felt more like a stereotypical action film, but i still give it a 9/10 none the less.
Hello, I'm Georgian. This movie means a lot. 1.For the love of everything....GEORGIA a.k.a Sakartvelo is a country which has existed for thousands of years. (I'm saying this, because someone once replied to my comment that they thought it was a made up country.) 2. Those Georgian actors are pretty famous here. One of them is actually a sportsman we call "Georgian Hulk". 3. Nagazi means shepherd. 4. Chris talking Georgian is so surreal. 5. Subtitles are a little off.
@@JordanJMyers There is an action movie with Scott Adkins that is literally called "One Shot". It is a 90 minute one shot that obviously isn't on Extraction level, but pretty impressive and entertaining nontheless.
I appreciate y'all acknowledging Sandro being a child and making bad decisions based on both him being a kid and his upbringing. So many discussions of the movie have people hating the kid because he doesn't make good decisions that make sense.
I loved how the cops had an impact on the firefight, especially the one the that went ham sniping from the helicopter, it made the movie feel like it takes place in a world where the security forces of nations weren't completely brain dead when up against such a crazy threat.
Tbf it seemed almost like a token scene to make the police response not look completely inept. You had COBRA (SWAT I think) operators just drive into the shooting zone after several police offers were injured or shot dead rather than approaching in slow pace on foot - and thus have your ground team taken out by RPGs - and a sniper in a heli going yeehaw instead of deploying ground side to engage targets from afar. I know this is a movie but basically police was made to look inept or unable to cope so that the "bad guys" and "protagonists" could have their little main fight. In reality these wannabe mafia or gangster goons would've never started shooting up downtown in Austria or, if they looked for a one-way ticket and revenge, never would've made it out of there, not be able to compete against specialized equipped police forces. (Again I know it's just a movie and not hyper realistic, just saying how it would've likely been IRL)
@@Unknown-ek1ox I would've liked it if the cops were better utilized. They could've been a third team applying pressure to protagonists and antagonists, forcing them into close quarters while evading and fighting the police.
I like how Nik actually got a little hurt during the train scene which made it a bit more realistic. A woman fighting 3 guys would realistically get a few scrapes and stabs.
And on the rooftop. Even after stabbing that guy in the leg, he's still like three times her size. Him throwing her like that is pretty realistic. She's not as strong as them, so she has to fight better.
Interesting note for anyone that doesn't know this yet - the ditchdigger in the opening scene is the film's director, *Sam Hargrave.* in a small cameo role. Hardgrave also cameo has an Gaetan/"G in the first Extraction film.
Yeah, what we did was do a rewatch of Extraction 1! Worked out perfectly! They work well as a tactical team, which made the dramatic scenes more impactful, i think. Great choice on N&S Reacts and others, the character moments!
39:45 such a great point. Can't be tactical if you're gonna blare your location, like what? 58:44 if it is, that would be A-mazing! Heard it here first on channel!!
2:20. The paramedics aren’t trying to inflate the lung. They’re trying to drain the area around it, via the chest tube (normally, this would be done by a qualified physician). The lung is covered by a membranous layer called the pleura, and between the lung and the pleura is a small space. During a penetrating chest injury, blood and air collect in this pleural space, resulting in a condition known as a hemopneumothorax. The rapidly worsening hemopneumothorax leads to a rise in intrathoracic pressure and lung collapse and, if not relieved, prevents the lung from reinflating, leading to respiratory failure. Given that this severe injury and the probable carotid artery injury he received went untreated for who knows how long, it stretches credibility that he could still be rescued by the time the paramedics arrived on the scene. He would have bled out long before. Not to mention that in his state of unconsciousness, he would have rapidly drowned in the river- even more so with a collapsed lung. But this is a movie and we are invited to suspend disbelief. For those who have any medical knowledge or training, this can be an especially big leap of faith.
It also makes sense they had an imminently qualified private medical response team on standby for a full-on trauma response. I know certain militaries have a policy of certain units always field with an actual qualified MD as their medical officer. No paramedics, actual medics lol.
Dang that's a lot of good information. On Jan 8 2023 I got Boerhaave Syndrome, I was only 22 and most people get it at 65+ and my hospital only had one other case which was 1 months before me. I was told to wait 2 weeks before working out, my doctor later told me she would've said 2 months but I only waited 2 days and in return I got pressure above my lower right lung(which they told me there was a leak but they couldn't find out where it was exactly) I must've pushed myself so hard after my injury that I put air in my hemopneumothorax. You learn something new everyday.
The camera movement in the one-take is exceptional because it's almost a true POV of another character in the story. All the little beats of like we're running but something happens off frame, the camera snaps to it real fast, then back to the movement, just like you would do in real life. If you're running down a hallway and the guy in front of you shoots someone, you're almost certainly going to glance down at the person they shot as you pass by, and this camera work does that, it's very natural.
Nice pieces of equipment in the sequel aswell. Tyler sports an Agency Arms Glock 21. Modifications include a stippled frame, flat face trigger, a milled slide with front serrations and a cut for a Trijicon RMR, a threaded barrel (occasionally fitted with a Rugged suppressor) and a Surefire X300 Ultra weaponlight. The mods are 4 times more expensive than the Glock itself. Same goes for his main rifle, custom rifle Daniel Defense M4V7S with an EOTech EXPS-3, G33 magnifier, AN-PEQ 15 laser module, Modlite weaponlight, BCM Gunfighter vertical grip, a suppressor with a cloth cover, and a Magpul SL stock. The AN-PEQ 15 laser module is almost expensive enough to buy all the rest of the mods.
I watched the behind the scenes how they made Extraction 1 and they show you how you feel like you're in the car when they go from the outside inside the car and it's a pretty slick camera trick. Oh and that fire on Chris Hemsworth was not CGI they literally lit the dude on fire for real Lol.
Cauliflower ears can also be caused by a sport called "Rugby". All of our national rugby players have those from something called a scrum (an in game event). Also, that guy at the beginning who got the gardening fork through his neck? I was waiting for that. You can't dick a hole with a gardening fork so I figured it had a different purpose being there. Such a great film and I love you guys reacting. Much love from New Zealand!
As Austrian, it was weird to see Austria getting used as sort of "new Alaska" or something - a remote location for ex super elite special forces agent mercs to lay low. 😅 Also, that might be the most action Austrian police got in any movie ever.
Nikki's point about sexualizing expanded: The Extraction series -- while primarily a rollercoaster of action set pieces -- is a grim, harrowing experience that does NOT rely on cliche strip club scenes, prostitution backdrops and other overused underworld carnal signatures that scream "These are your Bad Guys!" (with the obligatory T&A shots). The color grading of post industrial Eastern Europe sets the tone for Tyler's unsentimental, gritty death toll. The movie walks a fine line between dazzling, combat choreography on rails and sobering, depressing reality. Quite an accomplishment.

I'm so upset that Yaz died. I love the chemistry that he has with his team, Nik and Yaz. They're all great. I'm happy that you guys understand Sandro. Also, I like the mother, she wasn't the usual useless character that needs to saved all the time, standing there and do nothing until the help comes (Although it's understandable that people can be helpless especially in this kind of situation especially that you don't know how to protect yourself). She's swinging that dang shovel head and doing her best to help Tyler and herself in that situation. And also how she protect herself and her daughter during the fight in the building. That movie and the 21 min. one shot are literally insane! Oh and the helicopter landing and have troops get on the train was really filmed with both train and helicopter moving at ~30-45mph. 👌😊 Amazing action scenes and the camera work blew me away. Love the reactions!! ❤ The Landmark reference 😁
Movie was a wild ride, it was basically another custody battle but with guns lol also im surprised they didnt do the standard trope of lovers re-uniting. like i could have sworn that was going to happen when she showed up to see her sister they would start talking and reconnect again. but she was like no. i called you for a job, whats done is done, you helped me out ima help you out, gave him closure and left.
I liked the original well enough, but man they just turned everything up to 11 for this one. The action was insanely good, the story was actually good and the acting was quite good as well (considering it's an action movie after all). I guess the Extraction movies should just be subtitled "Expect at least a 20 minute long One-Shot" lol

Ovi (the kid of the 1st movie) asked him if he left his family (basically his dying kid) because he couldn't watch.. Meaning because he could no longer watch his son like that, no bearing the thought of loosing him but unable to watch him died, Ovi understood Tyler's reasoning I mean he was the one who said it, And Tyler confirmed it to him with a "yeah" almost crying his voice crack, his eyes full of watering tears, he was trying not to cry, he hold it, but inside je was broken 💔 of course... I mean it's not the right thing to do of course, Tyler himself is the first one to admit it to himself and to Ovi, he told Ovi that he was a coward. However wrong his actions were (about him leaving his child and not staying to support his wife) because he just was unable to find the courage to watch his son go through that ordeal, and knowing there was nothing he could do, his son was going to die.. But still Ovi understood the "reasons" behind Tyler's actions, and he didn't applaud him but he didn't condemned him either, and what his ex-wife gave him at the end of this movie (2nd movie) was a gift, because unlike him she has the inside understanding, because she was the one who stayed with their child till the end, so, she knew how their child viewed his father till the very end of his short life, which explains how the kid drew Tyler, as a soldier on top of world (that's the drawing the movie kept showing) a brave soldier that goes to protect people, that's how his son always viewed Tyler, and his ex-wife is basically forgiving him, so they can both heal and move on, separately, I mean they will never get over their son's death completely, of course , but they have to keep living, it opens the door for Tyler to forgive himself... ✅ *I apologize for my bad english, it's not my native language.* *GREAT REACTION, LOVE IT* 👍🤗
lmaooo when i was 15 and my lung randomly started to collapse they shoved that tube in me raw and it was the most uncomfortable thing i’ve ever felt. ik there are worse things but having that in ur side and getting up to go pee n stuff is the worst feeling.
I'm watching you guys for a few years now. I have to admit, Steven is a bull of a man (i'm working out too) but i always get to my soft spot while watching a damn well Movie. I enjoyed every bit of this movie because it got everything. Action, heart, maybe not the best writing, but that 21 min oner was just DOPE and in the end i was more satisfied than every marvel movie.
Don’t apologise for anything Nikki, I did the same “Oh Billy” gag at the end. Not sure if it qualifies as a Dad Joke but it’s definitely bad enough 😂 My prediction/hope for Extraction 3 is that the gnarly MFer that Idris Rona’s character works for is Rege Jean-Page’s character from The Gray Man, and his next target is Six and his adopted daughter - but he teams up with them instead. Boom, instant crossover!
Damnnnnn i just opened yt and what do i see niki and steven reacting to stuffffff lets fucking go...i love u two and i cant wait how u will react to thiss

Remarkably, until you said "is it Odin?" I hadn't even made the connection between Chris and Idris as *both* being from Thor. It'd be fun if Sir Anthony was the boss, but even funnier if it was Hiddleston.
Chris Hemsworth showing people he is more than just Thor, He is trying to make a name for himself in Hollwood as more than just a superhero but a action star

the manage and direction, cinematography, sound and execution of the one shot scene was fantastic, second only to 1917, and there are other movies that did the one scene shot, they are always awesome in immersive if well executed

That movie and the 21 min. one shot are literally insane! Oh and the helicopter landing and have troops get on the train was really filmed with both train and helicopter moving at ~30-45mph. 👌😊
Amazing action scenes and the camera work blew me away. Love the reactions!! ❤
The Landmark reference 😁
Just noticed the parallels of her hitting her brother after he died and the villain hitting his brother.
I loved this movie. The fight trying to get out of the prison was one of the best fight scenes I've ever seen. The way it was shot was awesome!
Extraction was made with the plans/hopes of a good response to it to warrant a second and third film. They got it hence why we have extraction 2 now
"He forgot to make a wish" I sprayed my keyboard with coffee, lmao xD
Goddamn Chris Hemsworth and Sam Hargrave just kill it in this. Idk how they're gonna top it in 3, but I'm excited to see how they do it.
The Vienna scene on Austrias highest building the DC Tower was breathtaking!!
Niki's jokes are hilarious 😂
Movie was a wild ride, it was basically another custody battle but with guns lol also im surprised they didnt do the standard trope of lovers re-uniting. like i could have sworn that was going to happen when she showed up to see her sister they would start talking and reconnect again. but she was like no. i called you for a job, whats done is done, you helped me out ima help you out, gave him closure and left.
26:57- Nik puts in a lot of work in this movie. And her patience with the ex-wife situation is commendable.
The cinematography is just INSANE!
Movies i recommend : Unknown 2006,Triangle 2009,Betrayed 2008,Break 2012,Nightcrawler 2014,Source Code 2011,Outlander 2008,Argo 2012,Accountant 2016,All the Presidents Men 1976,Straw Dogs 1971,Hero aka Accidental Hero 1992,Bang Bang You're Dead 2002.
Chris has his own John Wick movies and I'm here for it. 3rd one please asap.
Idris alba mentions that this mission is for his wife's sister in first interaction with Thor..
✅ *I apologize for my bad english, it's not my native language.*
*GREAT REACTION, LOVE IT* 👍🤗
lmaooo when i was 15 and my lung randomly started to collapse they shoved that tube in me raw and it was the most uncomfortable thing i’ve ever felt. ik there are worse things but having that in ur side and getting up to go pee n stuff is the worst feeling.
When you are engaged in combat you want to make sure you disarm the person that's why they kept going after Tylers gun
Don’t apologise for anything Nikki, I did the same “Oh Billy” gag at the end. Not sure if it qualifies as a Dad Joke but it’s definitely bad enough 😂
My prediction/hope for Extraction 3 is that the gnarly MFer that Idris Rona’s character works for is Rege Jean-Page’s character from The Gray Man, and his next target is Six and his adopted daughter - but he teams up with them instead. Boom, instant crossover!
Nearly 20 mins of one shot camera work of those prison and escape scenes.nice work.
The armored neck gaiter is resistant to handgun calibers but primarily used for shrapnel protection.
The most violent custody battle - and some of the best action sequences - in the history of cinema.
Also, Nikki is hilarious. Loved this reaction. 🤣🤣
Damnnnnn i just opened yt and what do i see niki and steven reacting to stuffffff lets fucking go...i love u two and i cant wait how u will react to thiss
The Guy with the awesome Mohawk is Daniel Bernhardt is a great Fighter/Stuntman/Actor and you saw him in Nobody, John Wick, Matrix , Atomic Blonde, Logan, Guardians of the Galaxy and countless more. But unfortunately only in small roles
One of the craziest Movies of the last 15 years is Hardcore/Hardcore Henry. This Movie is like a crazy One Person Shooter Game and filmed in a POV view. Please watch the Trailer - I bet you will love this Movie, it's a Hell of a ride
snow, cabin, beanie.... hes definitely doing his rocky training.
1:00:00
Extraction 1 had great action but the storyline was just Ok,
Extraction 2 the great action returns but you're right the story is far better, this was a great movie i loved it
22:05 + 25 fire damage in melee combat. Pretty cool buff
I finally got around to watching this and just wanted to say that I have had a chest tube put in while I was wide awake and on no pain meds. It is one of the most painful things you could experience lol
She said Bitch way more than Jesse from Breaking Bad 😂😂😂
Remarkably, until you said "is it Odin?" I hadn't even made the connection between Chris and Idris as *both* being from Thor. It'd be fun if Sir Anthony was the boss, but even funnier if it was Hiddleston.
based on the brief description, Anthony Hopkins sounds perfect to be the boss and that would be amazing.
3:18- Between this gal, Lashana Lynch and Ana de Armas, the women are stepping their action movie quality waaaay up. 8:20- Aye, it's Luther!
Always a great line, "Do you trust me?" "Should I NOT?!"
Chris Hemsworth showing people he is more than just Thor, He is trying to make a name for himself in Hollwood as more than just a superhero but a action star
Watching you from Georgia (country from the movie)! Love you guys!
Leaving a comment from Georgia (the U.S. state) 😊
Oh! Yeah! Got my trucking license! I was going to leave! But they kept following me! It's like they knew! ?????????? That's how you they really trying to set me up????????????????????????????????
43:16 The thing that sucks about that is that, since that dude’s falling, he’s gonna wake up mid fall.
"he forgot to make a wish" 🤣
These are incredible action movies. This one was just a good as the first. Hemsworth is the perfect action star in my opinion. I can't wait for the next one.
Yeah, I think this was a step up from the first movie. Looking forward to Extraction 3!
I just found you guys a few weeks ago when I went down the GOT wormhole. I really enjoy your reactions.
You are really watching this one because of the hype for the second is real. You had to watch the first to catch up of course. Not surprised. Like the Equalizer, you were missing out.
Yes yes i get to see Nik fighting.. she soo beautiful yet very strong
This show has everything action hair design and Nikki’s rapping. I love your commentary and I agree with your opinion on the camera motion was fantastic.
Your commentary during this movie is PRICELESS !!! well done
Extraction 3 has already been confirmed by Netflix. So going off the first 2 we have a 3 year wait!
They need this director to take over Thor. Ditch the campy comedy and get some legit Thor action movie…. Have him take on a Planet Hulk movie too.
the manage and direction, cinematography, sound and execution of the one shot scene was fantastic, second only to 1917, and there are other movies that did the one scene shot, they are always awesome in immersive if well executed
Every time the word “rake” was used I just went “Erm- actually, it’s a pitchfork.”
They need a 3rd like it’s really needed apparently it’s gonna start on film in 2024 then release between 2 quarters of early 2025 and or 2026.
32:28 Guys, Idris Elba already said this earlier in the movie.
That 20 minute one shot was incredible the whole movie eas so good bd elevates the action genre best oneshot of the year i think its tied eith jon wick 4 for me actually cant wait for extraction 3
Heimdall and THOR back together again 😂
Every time Nicki sees a heights thing , “ oh hell no “ 😂😂😂
burning heart was R4 same band that did Eye of the Tiger
I love the he actually sent him the shirt. 😆
49:55 Steven had me 😮😂 💀
Nik Khan is soooooooo badass! She can rock a boss lady dress but look so hot on tactical gear!
she got to shine a lot in this movie
Being Australian I may be biased but I loved it that they let him be Aussie ex SASR (Aussie Special Forces)
More Aussie Action heroes. Our guys and girls kick ass.
Also play Uncharted Lost Legacy. Aussie action lady in the lead on that one.
As he should be....it would be asinine for them to make him an "American Badass"
This was such a great movie. I watched it last week.
After topic but I just seen that there’s another Purge movie. The forever Purge on Max.
The prison yard scene immediately reminded of the prison yard scene in The Raid 2.
Steve quotes men who are epic movie heroes or villains: I'm coming to take the light out of your eyes. Bravo Steve, even I shook at this point.
The one shot in this film is truly the best fight scene ever in film history
One of my favorite parts about watching you 2 is the constant little side eyes you give each other when making jokes
Underrated work out soundtrack is Rocky IV.
Love that camerawork, some of the best action I've ever seen
“I didn’t know the hand could do that” …….. sure ain’t supposed to lol
