Great video. I like that you guys don't take yourselves too seriously. Very entertaining. Now I'm going to go turn on my computer, and see how bad I am at flying the P-51. It's been awhile.
We complain about the F-14 HUD not giving any information, meanwhile the P-51 hud....
In Navy primary right now going thru the suck, watching you guys gives hope for aviation as a career. Thanks for the great content and info!

I remember on the live show you commented about how the Bf-109 was so much easier to fly & wanting to try the P-47. All the German planes in DCS have auto everything. P-47 has 3 go faster handles & manual engine cooling with a pair of sliders on the left wall.
I've had a bit of success in DCS flying a Spitfire against modern jets. Most can't turn inside the Spitfire. However, once they figure out they can boom and zoom it is over. They just get their airspeed up and climb. If done right, I can't maintain the climb and roll over first. Not good. If I choose not to follow them in the climb, they just hover and pick me off in a dive as they zoom by and do it again if needed.
That's how the Navy and the AAF handled the Zero.
Still more historically accurate than the “Red Tails” movie.

That was fun to watch. Every aviation geek has pondered this question at least once. My takeaway after watching this: If you have way more thrust, Don't turn, climb. Take the fight vertical. Is that a good summary?
Poor Gonky! You taught him a lesson in assymetric warfare there.
Proper response is to go boom and zoom against something this slow, even the Dutch learned that lesson in the Viper vs A10.

You could say the same thing about biplanes vs. WW2 monoplanes. That's one reason so many pilots fought to retain biplanes...

@@CWLemoine 😂😂😂 Apparently so!! You still manged to fly your crate to its limits and shoot him down. You maximized your corner speeds and utilized your smaller turn radius to stay inside of him. I just figured Gonky would zoom boom right out of the gate and blow you away. Love watching you guys. A-10 vs P-51D would also be a great matchup.

It seems like, if you're in a warbird, you're down on the floor, slow, and ya need to gain airspeed and altitude fast to avoid getting your wings trimmed....yea, you gotta slam throttle which promptly sends your warbird into an unrecoverable Spunt Boogie, followed by a crash. How the hell do you compensate for that sudden torque
increase? Kick a ***tload of rudder?

DCS has a very limited number of warbirds, World War II Fighters, and the me 262 is not on that list. It's primarily for jet aircraft
The AAF took on the Swallows by lurking around their home airfields. The 262 engines took forever to spool up or down, so they were very vulnerable taking off or landing.
How does Mustang kill a Hornet?? Lol

@@charlesmontgomerybenny6891 Oh, you're talking about the paddle switch? Two things: 1) Real fighter pilots don't use it and 2) it wouldn't have helped in this situation.

Enjoyable video, but the Mustang pilot had the plane set up very poorly. The low RPM setting selected prevented the engine reaching full manifold pressure and thus full power. Still won with it though, a case of skill overcoming lack of knowledge about the plane.
I have recently came across your channel you seem pretty intelligent and I've seen your video on F-16 crash in Pakistan and found out you value Kids & family and stuff... So i really want to ask you have you ever Bombed or kill Civilians in your Service? I've seen the Iraq Genocide where the US servicemen treated them civilians like Animals and I've seen an Apache chopper pilot shoots down civilians for fun and now the same thing is what happening in Palestine the US & Israeli forces are killing Palestinians for fun... I've always wondered how can people with a heart full of love for thier family can kill anyone else especially kids? Like i myself can't think of hurting anyone am very emotional right now but i really want to know your take have you done something like that? Or do you support what Israel is doing for the last 75 years ?
